Little Rose in Cambridge

Food was abysmal (and I already have low expectations of pubs). Chicken kiev burnt to ****. Carrots completely unseasoned. Fries were nice. Typical pub food menu. Was hoping to get a nice pie but they only do a pie of the day, its not a staple. Waitress cut me off mid sentence while I was ordering, forgot to take drinks orders and ran away as soon as she could. Took a massive service tip for that too. Atmosphere nice. Quiet, peaceful and clean. Toilets were a bit unkept though and hard to find. Not coming back.

The service was ok but not great 😊 the food we had was a bit hit and miss 🤔 the fish and chips was good but the steak 🥩 and the king prawn 🍤 and monk fish curry was disappointing but the Little Rose Redeemed itself with the crumble Sticky toffee pudding was very nice 👌 we would go back but it wouldn’t be our first choice 😎

This was a Birthday meal celebration Staff lovely but lots of items they had run out of and the restaurant was quite empty on a Saturday at 8pm.We asked for Salmon none Chicken none and other foods they didn't have We asked for Brouilly Wine they didn't have it. How can a restaurant not have items at start of service We will not be coming back.

The restaurant is lovely, and the food and service is on time, Deniz, being so nice host, loved her service. I will recommend my friends to come over here for some drinks and lovely food.

City Pub Trying to write reviews of the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. The nearby rivals are the Mill and Anchor Cambridge. Also all of them provide lamb Sunday roast too. The menus are similar prices. The portions were smaller than the Mill. The meat was tender, but smaller than the other two rival pubs. Vegetables and potatoes were well prepared. The staff were nice. But I think the pub needs more staff, as it's such a big and busy place. The space between the tables and seats are very close. No space for our bags and jackets. We had no choice but to wear the jackets all the time. The tables are so small that your distance with your plates would be really close. Therefore the gravy might splash onto your clothes. Watch out.

i think this is one of the best restaurants in cambridge. the restaurant is so cool and cozy and the employees are extremely nice. they also have so many vegan and vegetarian options which is a huge plus. i've been there a couple of times and the food is always perfect with really big portions.

Booked through the website was very easy to use. I had the mushroom with crumpet to start and it was so tasty, my partner has the mackerel pate and he said it was really tasty. For mains we had fish and chips and the prawn curry both were delicious. All food was served in good time, hot, and very enjoyable. Service was excellent! Will definitely be coming back! Would only say maybe adding a zero 0% wine.

Overall lovely meal slightly spoiled by very slow service and staff not prioritising the customers that were seated…. I had the fish curry which was excellent and my lady had the whole sole ! We shared a sticky toffee pudding for dessert ! The food was great value and staff were friendly ! 4 stars 🌟

I was there during the weekend for the first time. From now on it is one of my favourite restaurants in Cambridge. The food was amazing so was the service and the general atmosphere of the venue! Thanks to the recommendations of the lovely manager, I ordered sea food curry and a really nice glass of wine. She was very kind in explaining all the menu and helping me choose the food that made my day in a gloomy day! I will be there again next weekend!

The comfort of the place, the service, the taste of the food were very good, the ambience of the environment was completely different, it offers a wonderful atmosphere where you can sit with your friends, it is calm and its employees are friendly.

This picturesque, olde worlde style establishment has a great ambience, nice waiting staff, comfortable seats and good sized tables with a decent space between them. Service is friendly and professional. The only weakness is the food. The monkfish and prawn curry was fine, but the monkfish was conspicuous by it's near absence and the portion size was less than generous; the cheeseburger, however, was just awful, dripping with grease, the cheese was a tasteless goo and the patties were thin, denatured and seem to have had only a nodding acquaintance with a cow. Despite this, we ate them and regretted it later, nearly throwing up. A pity as the experience was otherwise satisfactory.

Visited Christmas Eve. Table of 6. The restaurant was very quiet. Despite this I had to get up four times to request drinks/ a child’s menu etc. waitress was very surly and never came back to us upon two requests. Food very disappointing.

Vegan Sunday roast, it was ok however the nut wellington was tasteless and the vegetables were missing. I’ve never seen such a tiny portion of kale and potato’s. Drinks were good and the young staff members serving were attentive and we were welcomed well. One staff member seemed to take enjoyment in being very loud with glasses and ice, much to the discomfort of clients ears

10 of us 6 very disappointed with quality of food lamb was just gristle, potatoes were over cooked, stuffing was none discript chicken came with a leg bone sticking out of it. Bread sauce was mouthful of cloves Yorkshires were burnt to crisp. But service was with a smile and it was a lovely setting. Unfortunately we won’t eat there again as value for money was nowhere worth it sorry

***5 STAR REVIEW*** I visited this restaurant with my now partner on our very first date. I have experience managing fine dining establishments and can't recommend this wonderful place anymore. We had been considering visiting another more well renound restaurant down the road and are delighted to say that we decided to stay here. The hospitality, service experience, food, and atmosphere were out of this world. This was all thanks to Andrei, the Head Chef and Deniz the Bar Tender and Waitress. They couldn't have made us more welcome from the minute we walked in the door and through to the moment we left. Deniz figured out it was our first date and recommended we sit in the snug, which was just perfect. We decided to share a few starters, and they were all delicious. We particularly enjoyed the duck egg, pastrami, duck fat potatoes, and cucumber. We noticed the Chef, and he was kind enough to talk me through how he had created them. They were phenomenal. I can't even explain everything they did to make us feel welcome and valued. We will certainly be back and will be recommending this fantastic location to friends and family. Thank you to all the team, up front and behind the scenes; all who made that such a memorable experience for us. See you again soon!

Loved this spot! So cosy, great service and amazing, flavourful food. Two mains and a desert came to about £50 for two people which is such amazing value for money, especially considering how delicious the food was. Such high standards and i’m pleasantly surprised. Convenient location as well. I can only imagine how beautiful this place is during the warmer days. Hoping to visit again the next time I’m in Cambridge!

Nice restaurant. Good service. Surprised it was so empty- but I guess Monday lunch with Fitzwilliams across the street closed leads to fewer customers. The trout was great, the chicken Kiev ok. But the swan parade outside the window - fantastic to follow the stubborn swan taking over the street

We were nine people in our party today for Christmas dinner and everything was perfect. We were greeted in the beautifully decorated foyer and were shown to our table. Drinks order was taken and delivered really quickly. We had already pre-ordered our meal choices, so we didn't have to wait too long. The food was absolutely delicious and presented to a high standard. Our choices included my favourites; crab rarebit as a starter, halibut with leeks as a main followed by pineapple tarte tatin. All were superb and were fabulous. Well done to the staff today. You were all wonderful, and thank you for a superb meal.

Little Rose is a very special place. Flavor, care and creativity come together. It is also certain that Deniz is decisive in the quality of the place. I have already become a regular and I especially love their desserts.

Last night I went here for my partners works night out with a few colleagues. Omg! the food was absolutely amazing. We chose the festive menu and it was lush and wow cooked to perfection with devine succulent turkey with fantastic beautifully cooked vegetables and a light flavoursome sauce/gravy. This is truely the best food I've ever tasted at any restaurant. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent. The food was served within a timely manner. The deserts are to die for and I'd highly recommend trying the cherry crumble or the sticky toffee pudding as they were Absolutely beautiful. I'll definitely be coming back here to dine again in the future without a doubt. It's first class and as they say you get what you pay for and this is so worth every penny. Compliments to the chief. 10/10.

The little rose is a lovely place to eat just outside of city centre. The food was delicious, great atmosphere and the staff were all incredible. Our waitress Esme had the best service possible, would definitely come again.

Visited in January and got horrific food poisoning from the oysters. Myself and my partner both had 1 oyster each and were violently ill for a good couple of weeks. It actually took months for my stomach to rebalance itself. Suspect it was vibrio. I can see a similar review was left in January on the same day as our visit so I presume the whole batch of oysters that day were riddled with something. I filled out the ‘contact us’ form on the website to report this but no one ever got back to me. Terrible treatment. Will never eat an oyster again and will certainly never return here. I would advise you to do the same.

Came in tye freshly opened Little Rose. The experience was amazing. From the moment we entered the pub the staff were helpful, friendly and professional! Me and my friends sat in the restaurant section and we were taken care from Pedro and Deniz. They were absolutely helpful with recommendations and excellent service! The waitresses Georgia and Tamzin were also really good in their service, checking always if we needed anything extra and making sure everything arrived on time! We had 3 roast beefs. Everything in excellent quality, warm and tasty! Sticky toffee pudding was recommended which I most certainly enjoyed! I highly recommend this place!

Great food and the service we received was excellent, however the restaurant is looking tired and therefore needs redecorating and the toilets could do with a serious makeover and clean

Great for lunch if visiting Fitzwilliam Museum

A disappointing visit. Food was not as hot as it should have been - 1 meal was sent back and 1 was unavailable without being told. Took a long time to take order although not busy Menus had to be asked for despite booking a week before.

The Little Rose is a fantastic pub in Cambridge. We were a large party of 12 that had a reservation fall through at a different venue. We called the Little Rose and they accommodated us straight away. They placed us in a great area and were really attentive. The food was great and the service fantastic. Great pub, great staff and great food.

Loved my visit here, lovely food! I would highly recommend.

The atmosphere and the design inside the restaurant is very pleasant. It is clean and cosy. The food unfortunately was not at the level we expected after reading a couple of the reviews. The starters were nice and quite delicious. For the main course, We had a seabass which tasted nice, however, the sausages that were apparently fried not only once spoiled the dish. The tempura soft crust scallop burger was not tasteful and the crust was difficult to chew. The raspberry tiramisu was for some reason salty instead of sweet and had nothing in common with a tiramisu. We would come back for the atmosphere and some drinks and starters.

Lovely little small courtyard to sit outside and enjoy the English weather and get away from the hussle and bussle of the busy streets. Food looked nice although we didn't have any. We sat outside for some drinks and the staff were very pleasant, we would certainly pop in again. Inside was very nice and toilets well looked after

I love the way it looked from the outside. We sat outside in the tavern garden? (I am not entirely sure what you call it). It looks beautiful, the waiting staff is quick and polite and the food had a good price for the quality you get. The inside was very cosy and it was busy, but not too crowded. I would definitely recommend going here.

I had a really bad experience with my lunch. The chicken liver profiteroles were rotten, grey-colored, and smelled bad. I only took a small bite, fortunately, because it looked spoiled, and it was decorated with fried chicken skin (what?!) which was extremely unappetizing. The cured salmon, avocado, and mango tartare was also terrible. The smoked (it should be mentioned on the menu, but it was not) salmon was randomly cut, not in cubes at all and smashed avocado seemed like it was prepared a couple of days ago. Soup was okay, I'll give you that one. Overall, it looked like the kitchen staff was off that day and was replaced by random people passing by.

Always able to get seated in here without booking. Although best to book at busy times. Good fresh fish menu along side other dishes. Staff very attentive and friendly every time we visit. Outside seating available in a side area of the building for food or just drinks. Good menu choice.

Popped our heads into this restaurant trying to find somewhere to eat earlish on a Sunday evening, and was pleasantly surprised that it was still relatively busy with a good atmosphere but still a few tables free. Food was decent and what you would expect at this price point, with a good range on menu covering family members that wanted a Sunday roast and those after more gastro pub grub. Kids choice good as well. The service was very warm and attentive and makes such a difference when eating out, especially in what you might have as expected in a touristy city. Quality German beer on tap as well!

Little Rose is a very beautiful place with the calmness of its garden and the attention of its staff. You should definitely try seafood. Believe me, you will like it very much!

Disappointed. Mediocre food. Steak was cooked well however not left to rest. There was blood all over the plate. Atmosphere was stuffy and quiet.

Visited The Little Rose after a tiring excursion around Cambridge and it was the perfect spot to unwind. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel right at home. We tried the Pimm's, which was refreshing and delicious. It's a charming spot, ideal for a relaxed evening out. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a welcoming pub in Cambridge!

My husband has chosen this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We ordered 2 starters and 3 different fish dishes. They were tasty and after dinner my daughter asked me to give a excellent rating to Little Rose.

We were just casually finding a place to have some food and when we arrived at the restaurant the waitress Deniz or something there had a very unpleasant attitude and was soo rude to us by asking us to take a seat outside but we wished to sit inside..anyway after sitting down outside she was asking the other waiters to make us force our orders fast.. And also they didn't even gave us a proper food menu at the first place. And after all of this we just wanted to get out from there as soon as possible. And we did aswell.This was our first time here planning to have a great time but they dissapointed.. We'll not be returning.

Visited here at lunchtime, as first venue for a girlie celebration weekend in Cambridge! Very nice indoor table and loved the vibe/décor. Most of my friends ordered from the lunch menu and added a side of fries but I opted for the plant powered cheeseburger which I absolutely demolished as was very tasty. Unfortunately we were too full for desserts.

Ended up at the Little Rose pub when my other reservation was cancelled on me. Amazing service from the manager down to the waitresses.!

We came to celebrate with a a family after our daughter's HC. Perfect location from the church at OLEM! All guests were very pleased with the food and great service given by Deniz. Thank you so much for looking after us on that special day🙏

Really nice fish & chips with curry sauce, which tasted unexpectedly delicious!

After a walk in Botanical Gardens, we fancied a Sunday lunch, and this place looked nice with people enjoying their meal. In we went and ordered our food. I had roast pork with crackling, with roast potatoes, carrots, peas, and Yorkshire puddings. My partner had roast beef with the same trimmings. Both were delicious. The staff are friendly but a little inattentive as they forgot the cutlery and the drinks. The atmosphere was good and toilets are clean. I would recommend this place for a nice meal.

A lovely little find, we popped in for a drink after a museum visit and ended up staying for lunch and cocktails as the courtyard area was so welcoming. The food was delicious and served efficiently, quietly and with a smile. Very pleasant and enjoyable all round.

I was looking back through my open table bookings and it seems I have been here four times (although it’s more because sometimes others have booked!) so it’s about time for a review. It’s really nice to have a place that is pretty easily accessible, with friendly service and good food. The only one star off is that it can be a little inconsistent in how good it is. The occasional incredible fish special makes it truly good restaurant territory, but the majority of the menu is more just like a decent pub menu, and also a little too often they don’t have everything on the menu, even at lunchtime. Will keep returning though because there is generally something for everyone and the quality is good.

Lovely restaurant with great customer experience. The waitress Ha and also the manager were very friendly and they exceed our expectations. The food was delicious. We brought our dog and they treat her as a Queen.

Highly recommend, we came Easter Monday evening so not very busy. Staff were all nice and friendly and the food was really good and well presented. Very much enjoyed our meal this evening thank you.

Perfect place for lunch. It's just opposite the Fitzwilliam museum, making the location really convenient.

Avoid. Food was terrible. Service was out of the Fawlty Towers school of hospitality. They kept saying they were full for lunch but there were always tables free, even up to 2.30pm when we left. The barman was loud and seemed to enjoy throwing empty bottles into the bin from a distance. But mostly the experience stays with you as I can still smell the deep fat fryer results on my clothes. Bring back Loch Fyne.

Gone down hill since my last review, no Osters for the second time ive visited fish choice has been the same the hake was Discussting ,fish was ok but the sauce was rotten, The staff remain brilliant, sign says outside says best seafood restaurant in Cambridge, I totally Disagree,

Received serious case of food poisoning which they tried to cover up. DO NOT eat here. Disgrace of a restaurant which couldn't care less about their customers. Wouldn't feed their food to my dog.

The food was okay but the service was good.

Booked the night before and mentioned we had a dog which they were very happy to accommodate. Staff are very friendly. Service was very efficient. Seating is comfortable. I only had main, hake with braised leeks, mussels and onion soubise. It was excellent. Desserts were tempting. In all a very satisfying lunch.

Excellent lunch! Food was delicious and inventive. Seafood is their specialty but even the burger and fries were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Great staff especially manager super helpful. Sunday lunch was the worst I have ever experienced tough grisly beef, flat diabolical Yorkshire and awful roast potatoes very poor quality food.

Cosy restaurant serving delicious food.

Every one of us who went to the dinner got FOOD POISONED. The symptoms were identical. Apparently the food we consumed that night had some issue. We suspect the oyster or the fish had hygiene issue. Guys alert!!!! Need to be cautious!!!

Fish dishes are lovely, but others not so great. Roast okay but not the best value for the price, average quality. Go for fish! They really cook that well, whether starter or main.
