Quality ingredients ruined by chefs who don’t know how to season food without using flavour enhancers. Too much msg in all courses ruined what could have been a good meal. Won’t be returning.

Attended for the first time after reading rave reviews. Pleasant restaurant and attentive front of house staff but that’s where the positives end. Our starters arrived, which were mediocre quality for the price. The next course which was wanton soup is where the msg overload was evident - soup broth was inedible. We then ordered main courses and specifically asked the waitress to inform chef not to add msg to our dishes. We were astounded that the waitress replied ‘we have already marinaded all meats in msg, but I’ll tell chef not to add any more when making the sauce’. Main dishes arrived and the request to avoid additional msg had been noted in the kitchen, but sadly that resulted in no seasoning at all. The prawn and seasonal veg dish was bland and tasteless. It’s so disappointing when a chef has to rely on additives to make a dish palatable. Won’t be returning.

Very busy Saturday as you would expect, but service was spot on, starters came out quickly and super tasty. Singapore noodles are off the scale, it never disappoints !!

Booked LHK for my birthday meal last night and once again it was amazing. The staff, food and decor is the best there is and never disappoints! Highly recommend.

Attended here with family and won't ever be going back. After the first two courses - starters and soup we could tell dishes were heavily loaded with MSG by our headaches. We had to ask the waitress to advise the kitchen not to put it any of the main meals that were cooked. There is a pub below the restaurant so maybe people eating the food after a few drinks want flavour enhanced meals. That's not the clean Chinese cooking I'm used to. Awful won't ever go back. I haven't even mentioned the ridiculous prices. I'd rather travel to Manchester and pay for the journey for a decent Chinese in china town then return here. £8 for a won ton soup and £15 pp (min of 2 people) so £30 for a small selection of dim sum is ridiculous.

Table booked for 6 pm, seated promptly. Drinks order taken immediately and delivered in moments. Food ordered with ease, and starters brought quickly. We tried veg spring rolls, prawn toast, and chicken/sweetcorn soup. All piping hot and delicious. We then shared a quarter crispy duck with pancakes.. came pretty quickly after starters and was also delicious. Once finished, we were offered a longer wait before mains, which was a nice touch. Mains arrived and were, you guessed it, piping hot and delicious. Sweet and sour chicken with chips and chilli garlic pork with fried rice. Only gripe, and it's my fault really due to my toddlers palette. The chips appeared to be of the frozen kind, and it would have been more enjoyable if they were freshly cut and cooked. I'm not deducting any stars because of this, as I shouldn't have ordered chips anyway, lol.

A friend recommended this place as we don't have a Chinese restaurant or even a decent takeaway near us. Well worth the 15 mile trip. Food was delicious, tasty, fresh, fabulously cooked and presented. Staff were delightfully friendly. So much to try and we will definitely be returning. We had the LHK starter platter for two. I had the Singapore vermicelli and my wife had fillet steak in black pepper. Both dishes were superb.

Fanatic place to eat. I was working away and found this little gem. Tired of hotel food I went for a taste of Hong Kong. I wasn’t disappointed, the food is amazing. The staff are very friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit if you’re near

Really cute little place, the staff were very welcoming and attentive and the food was incredible. The Thai green curry was perfect, just enough heat, the meat was brilliant quality and the veg was fresh and crunchy. The war tips were lovely and the ribs were massive. Highly recommend.

Fabulous food. Good range of SE Asia/Chinese food as well as beer, wine and cocktails. Friendly staff. Tables nicely spaced so evwryone can come and go with ease enough and able to chat at the table, without needing to shout

Good food and service. A little noisy. Great for eating out as a group but not for a romantic night for two.

I have been using this restaurant/take away for the past 8 months on a very regular basis. The quality of the food is exceptional and a great menu to suit all tastes. The weekday deal (Mon, Wed and Thursday) is very good value. They also offer a delivery service which is very efficient. The staff are very attentive and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. Also, the restaurant is situated above The Dressers Arms, which is a gem in itself offering a great range of drinks and fabulous staff. If you are a real ale fanatic, the pub is definitely worth a visit.

We were staying with relatives in Chorley who took us here for dinner. It’s a lovely restaurant above The Dressers Arms pub. To start three of us chose Chicken Lettuce Wraps which were delicious and the other enjoyed Prawn Dumplings. To follow I had lovely Seafood Udon Noodles in XO Sauce, others had steamed Whole Seabass, Crispy Peking Duck and Beef with Black Bean Sauce. Service was excellent. I’d love to return …

Came here years ago when it was Mr Lams. Decided to try as we have been searching for a good Chinese restaurant. What a discovery or re discovery. We visited on Sat 15th June with my Wife and Mother in law. The food was absolutely superb and very friendly staff and great service. We will definitely be back.

Service and starters where ok, everyone received there meal but they forgot mine. The salt and pepper chips where almost inedible due to the amount of salt. My salt and pepper chicken was inedible due to the amount of salt or msg.

Absolutely lovely. The food was great, the atmosphere great and they were very friendly. It is in a lovely spot. They do the hottest Chinese food my partner has had and he loved it!

The food here is amazing! I will definitely be back again. Only 2 negative points were that my starter didn't arrive, so we had to ask for it. It came quickly after that, but everyone else on the table was well into theirs by then. Also, there is no drinks menu, which I think would have made it 100%. Other than those 2 negatives, it's in a lovely location, the staff were great and the food was fantastic.

Fantastic food. Highly recommended. I haven't been for a while but the quality of food is fabulous. It is a great night out or overnight stay , if you go into the Dressers Arms which is a fabulous pub and offers accommodation and a great breakfast at weekends .

Where do I even begin? This place used to be a go-to spot for a decent Chinese meal, it's been on a slippery slope for a while now. From the moment we stepped in, it felt and sounded like we were walking on prawn crackers, the floor was full of crumbs from diners the previous day. I think their heating system has also broken as the room was almost as cold as outside. All the staff looked miserable and very unwelcoming. Not only did they seem disinterested in serving us, but they also appeared to be actively trying to make our experience as miserable as possible. Then there's the food – or should I say, the disaster on plates. Not only was it undercooked, but it also seemed like it had been sitting out for ages before being served to us. The lack of care and attention to hygiene standards was evident, and it's no surprise that both my partner and I ended up incredibly ill the day after. It's unacceptable to serve food that puts your customers' health at risk. And if that wasn't bad enough, it turns out we weren't the only ones suffering. Many others in our party of almost 40 people has also fell victim to the same fate as us. It's mind-boggling how a restaurant can continue to operate with such blatant disregard for basic standards of service and food safety. Overall, our experience at Little Hong Kong was nothing short of a nightmare. From the rude staff to the undercooked, illness-inducing food and the outdated, unwelcoming decor, there's not a single redeeming quality left about this establishment. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear – unless, of course, you enjoy spending your evenings hunched over a toilet bowl regretting your dining choices.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Cancelled our table for my birthday no notification even though they said they had left voicemails. Totally lied and we had to leave disappointed after paying for a taxi from Blackburn. Would not recommend as was totally let down

Came on a Monday night, and it was quiet so a little lacking in atmosphere, but the food was great and the service fast, efficient, and friendly. Tiger beer on draft which was very good, will be back.

The Little Hong Kong restaurant and take away is a gem. Located above the fabulous Dressers Arms, this is as good if not better than anywhere in Chinatown Manchester. The menu offers a good selection of dishes and the prices are in line with the high standard of food , but not extortionate. Very good value for money. The early bird menu served mon-thurs is an exceptional deal. Two courses for £17.95 and a very good selection of dishes . Strongly advise to book. If you haven't tried the takeaway menu it's very highly recommended and they offer weekend delivery service. Added bonus the Dressers Arms offer a great selection of beers and wines and there are a number of high quality bedrooms at the dressers if you don't want to drive and fancy a night away. The staff are excellent friendly and attentive . Service is second to none .

Amazing food and service - will definitely aim to come back!

We dined here on a friends recomendation. however the food was just ok ,overpriced and the amount of rice with the main course was quite small. This was our first & last visit. We have dined at other chinese restaurants that are at least as good with more genourous portions & at a cheaper price

Had 3 or 4 takeaways over the last few months from LHK and everyone has been absolutely amazing! This is most definitely the best Chinese food in the area by a country mile. Keep up the good work!

This was only my second visit - the first being quite a few years ago. The food was nice but I though it was very expensive - £9 for 3 crispy prawn fritters so basically £3 a mouthful! I had the duck pancakes which were nice, but again very expensive. The service was good and the staff were friendly. But it was impossible to hear ourselves and we had to shout to have a conversation. I don’t think it’s somewhere I’ll be visiting again but if you like Chinese food you’ll enjoy

Had dinner here with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The steamed sea bass in ginger was delicious. And the service was good. It was busy so make sure you book.

Love this restaurant, really nice loft space style above one of our favourite pubs for outside drinks on a sunny day. We had the Sunday Banquet - a sharing platter of chicken wings, ribs, spring rolls, chicken satay, seaweed etc, followed by crispy duck pancakes, and then a main each with shared rice. All food was delicious.

Amazing food with excellent sevice

Went there for family birthday , Totally overpriced below average food and service , our party was split up over two separate tables which we wasn’t happy and the restaurant wouldn’t accommodate in trying to sort out for us !! Prawn crackers was so greasy and the salt pepper ribs was as dry as the Sahara , the tiny portion of sizzling filet steak was like plastic and £24 without a side dish was ludicrously expensive, we got the bill of nearly £500 at the end and everyone was shocked to say the least , I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

First time for 4 of us last night. Excellent.. it was packed out. But food was really quick and extremely tasty. The chicken wings were fantastic. No grease whatsoever on anything either.. defo going again. Thank u 👍👍👍

This is a very good chinese restaurant, you could not fault the food, it was all piping hot, incredibly tasty and a good selection. However the most important quality is the service, it was absolutely brilliant. Always attentive, you never waited for a drink and the food was served in a calm, timely and totally pleasant way.
