We stopped here for coffee and cake after a blowy beach walk. What a little gem! We had the spiced pear and ginger crumble cake and toffee apple muffin. Wow! Taste sensations! Fantastic coffee too in very generous mugs. We had our dog with us and she was made very welcome with doggy treats. Sit in the window seat by the door for a fabulous sea view.

Just been to Little Charlotte’s Cafe for lunch, it was delicious, we all had a jaffle (toasted sandwich) lots of lovely fillings to choose from, there is also a fantastic selection of fresh cakes and tea and coffee, service was fast and staff are very friendly and efficient, it’s a great place to go if you have children as there is a play area with lots of great toys to keep the kids entertained while you enjoy your lunch .

Good food but rude service. I was quite affronted by the attitude of the lady behind the counter. She was surly bad tempered and plain rude it left a bad taste in my mouth. It was bad enough one of the staff being rude but the waitress who bought the food was equally as bad. Will not visit here again until there are more pleasant staff.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
