In my opinion the best Chinese take away in Bath. Every dish is so tasty

The service is great, quick and friendly. The food is fantastic, for Chinese food we always go to lido chef. We really like the chilli beef, egg fried rice, Prawn toast, pork with beansprouts and hongstyle chicken, 10/10, great place.

Have been going here since I was 15, I'm now 60. Have never been disappointed with this family run business that's now on it third generation of the same family. Young Louis has kept the food consistently good, as did his predecessors. Could eat it every day! There are so many lovely meals to choose from. I can honestly say that most of the poor reviews are probably not genuine.

There food is okay but prawn toast so burnt you could knock someone out with it and they don’t listen to orders very well and tell you that you orders something else even after repeating it back to you . There Service is atrocious they are so rude and tell you if you don’t like it go to another place and get food / try a Different takeaway.

I've heard really bad reviews from lido chef lately 😔 I decided to take the chance it was the best takeaway I've had in a long time. Very friendly staff and the food was amazing Thankyou Lido

We have lived near to the Lido chef for 17 years, this is the first and the last time that we will use it. We ordered online and picked it up. We got home to a phone call informing me that they had given me the wrong order and asking me to take it back. Upon arrival there was an insincere apology. Really awful service. The food wasn’t great either, it didn’t smell nor taste great. I am hugely disappointed and so unimpressed.

/ Edit: Unfortunately we have to change the rating to 3*, as none of the other meals we tried were great. Beef in black bean sauce was very watery, smelled strange and didn’t have much flavour. Egg fried rice was horrible, it was definitely not cooked fresh and had no flavour to it whatsoever. Crispy chilli beef had very little beef in it and a lot of batter, not nice. Chicken balls were great, massive portion and great flavour. / We ordered online and went to pick it up, food was ready within 25 mins from ordering. The lady on the till was friendly and polite. The shop was rather cold as the heating was not on, although this wasn’t too important as one doesn’t spend too long in there. We had a plain chow mein, salt and pepper chicken, spring rolls and curry sauce. Paid £16 for everything, which felt reasonable especially in comparison to other takeaways in the area. The noodles were nice, massive portion too, plenty for 2 people, very good value for money. The salt and pepper chicken could have been a bigger portion, but was overall pleasant, had a nice kick to it. We didn’t enjoy the spring rolls as much - they didn’t have much flavour or filling, were greasy, but didn’t have high expectations as not many takeaways make them well/homemade. Nice enough if you dip them in curry sauce though. Overall, we would recommend this takeaway. We look forward to trying other dishes soon.

Very good spring rolls, generally food was prepared fast. Maybe a bit lacking in vegetarian options.

Service was slower than my Nan doing cartwheels down the M25 plus guy on the phone was rude, shouty and sweary. Ordered it at 7 and it never arrived Unacceptable

We ordered egg fried rice among other things, and i.have never tasted anything so disgusting.Obviously the rice was old.We could not eat it.Terrible.Never again.

Absolute RUBBISH. Ordered the fried rice. You could tell it was cooked from frozen. The rice was broken and prawns like cardboard. this used to be a nice take away. No more.

I order from here regular I notice sometimes the meals are perfect nothing to moan about but also notice odd times today I got a mushroom curry and it was swimming in oil the chicken balls all had thick black viens going through them and the noodles are so greasy u can barely pick them up. Looks like ill be staying clear for a while.

i have been having takeaways from here for years and i have never gad any problems until lat friday night, we had a takeaway as a treat but unfortunately i got food poisoning from my meal and was VERY poorly all weekend, i rang and spoke to a member of staff and explained what had happened and i told them that i would like to speak to the owner, he wasnt there but i was told that he would give me a call when he came in, i left me contact details but i never got the call from him. I think that this is disgusting so this is one i am leaving this review and only 1 star it wouldnt let me put no stars, so my now i will be avoiding this take out.

Food ordered and paid for after a long wait they come out and tell us they've RAN OUT OF RICE. We weren't the only people waiting. Got food home to find it almost cold and not very nice. Such a shame have been going there for years but I think its time to find a new Chinese.

Really tasty prawn curry. Andy had beef curry and fried rice. Not a single grain left over!! Delish!!

Ordered ribs beef curry & sweet and sour. The first 2 was passable, but the sweet and sour was the worst I've ever had. Gave what I could to the dog!! But seriously, looked & tasted like it was reheated from several days ago!! Also i think it gave my dog a poor tummy!

Not good tonight , usually very god but , s.s. chicken balls dark brown , over cooked , egg fried rice tasted re heated, ''Stodgy '' the chips had pepper on them , kids couldn't eat them, chicken curry was okay, I think they are having an ''Off Night '' waste of £22

Love lido, fav Chinese for 40 years

It had been a while since ordering a Chinese. I looked about and decided to go for the Lido Chef. At first I wasn't too convinced by the reviews that I was seeing, but I guess it is down to individual experience. We ordered just before 9:30PM and it came at 9:40PM. Delivery driver was nice and everything we ordered arrived. The only grunt I have (and the reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5) is the price. If i'm honest, way over the amount we used to pay. The only saving grace was the food being hot and cooked properly. Nice people on the phone, got cut off half-way through and had to phone back, they took a card payment. I find it is always best to double check the order in case something turns up you didn't want....

Gutted.. drove all around Bath for chips and curry sauce, nothing open..got to lido chef ordered curry sauce and chips..!! Got home and it was chips and gravy..😠😠👎👎

Brilliant food! Bit more pricey compared to other Chinese take away places in Bath only big downside is they are truly terrible at answering the phone to place orders if they improved this I would give them 5 stars!

disgusting food!! 1.they forgot half the order 2.the crispy chilli beef looked like embryos of some sort of animal it tasted like it had been cooked and refrozen 3 times over!! the sweet and sour sauce looked brown not pinky red.. overall gross!! never again ordering from here!!

Terrible costumer service. Got my order wrong, and when I called they said that the food was on its way, called again after 40 minutes of wait and a different person answer the phone and said that my card wasn't working when instead they alteady took the money out of my account. Moreover the bloke was extremely rude, didn't listen to what I was saying and kept talking with sameone else while on the phone with me, and also didn't seem to understand what I was saying. He also blamed me for the mistake in the order.

The best in Bath, great food and service at the right price.. They are always happy to do things like Lemon Chicken with no batter, my wife has celiac disease and is unable to digest the batter. We just phone the order and its ready when we arrive. Sam F April 2010 Thought it was time to update my review, the same great food at the same great price. Very polite and helpful staff and you can get an excellent car wash next door while you wait for your food to be cooked. I think the one bad review must have come from someone who reviewed to the wrong takeaway. Expensive for the portion sizes. Middling quality. Paid for prawn crackers but when we got home realised they hadn't been included. Won't be returning.

Very Expensive for small portions, was really disappointed, spent a lot of money and didn't even get a bag of prawn crackers thrown in 👎 Wouldn't recommend this place.

If you have to walk up Rush Hill to collect your meal then healthy equilibrium maintained every time!

Good Chinese takeaway. Have eaten from here probably hundreds of times, never had any problems - tasty and decent prices. They also deliver though they do charge a modest amount for this based on distance.

Made a telephone order to collect. I arrived at the time they said it would be ready for collection. Half an hour later i still didnt have my order. Whilst waiting i saw a member of staff dealing with a return/complaint and instead of offering a refund or some free food he simply said " what you want? A kiss on the cheek?" This left everyone in the shop amazed at how rude they were. After about 45 mins of waiting i asked a member of staff how long the order was going to take and they said they didnt have an order for me and that they must have put it under the wrong name. In the end i never got my food. They were so rude and had terrible customer service. Never going there again.
