Lidl in Plymouth

I like this store however I’m quite disappointed regarding my experience on 23/08/2024 as I had purchased some discounted salmon. It was 2 /3 days before its date and the only discounted pack of the kind so I wasn’t quite sure why it was discounted however I unfortunately found out soon after. The packaging was very slightly open on the side however not noticeable until I had got on the bus to notice a fishy smell and among looking through my bag found the fish leaking on the contents of my shopping bag as well as my jeans. If you’re going to knowingly sell raw meat at a discounted price due to it being slightly open, make it obvious by leaving a little label on the packaging stating it’s open? It’s quite humiliating getting on a bus smelling of fish and I had to wash all my stuff when I got home. The smell still hasn’t come out of my glasses case despite scrubbing multiple times due to it being fabric.

Everything you need from a supermarket. Never too busy. Plenty of onsite parking.

There are many things to recommend Lidl however they have changed the low calorie Ice cream and it's no longer a staple in my freezer.the ready salted lentil crisp are no longer available in the larder bags and have been replaced with salt and vinegar and these contain SUGAR!!!! I feel this is truly an unessisay ingredient I do understand for certain causes jams preserves this is a useful if not necessary ingredient.

I love Lidl one of my most favourite places to go shopping definitely recommend 100%

Was shouted and embarrassed badly by the member of staff, treated like a 3 yr old child, simple you can not threaten the customers with not servicing them because they are a bit slow to come to the till (especially there are more customers behind, ah of course I am a Asian lady……)

Shelves lacking products for several weeks now 😒. Otherwise 5 stars. Now back to normal great availability and prices.

Good BORDEUX red Wines good value for money compared with Majestic Wines

Empty shelves, incorrect prices for items filling gaps. Aisles with unattended cages and pallets of stock and empty boxes. 6 people in 1 queue and increasing until a 2nd till opened. Staff seen throwing soft fruit and veg packs into shelf stock.

Nice one stop destination to buy almost everything house required.

Great shop great staff and great selection of produce all in all a great visit just a couple of things let it down some staff really didn't seem to want to be there

Always busy, with parking sometimes tricky. Would be great if they opened more checkouts and added extra self-service machines during peak times. Just six isn’t enough for a quick in-and-out.

A bit hit and miss with items, particularly the vegan options. Still some good value products and a vegan apple turnover

Great store for shopping. If you buy their brand of food or other groceries, you'll save a small fortune. Bargains all over the shop just look throughout the shelves, and you'll start saving.

I visited this store on November 28th 7:46pm (my receipt states) I'm currently recovering from major lung surgery, I had 7 stitches in my chest so it's very painful for me to bend down/stretch. So after filling up my basket with as much as I could carry I politely asked "I'm really sorry Is there any chance I can get a checkout opened please" I was told with no uncertainty by a larger woman wearing a pink fabric faced mask "No it's only the self service checks now" I did attempt to use them but being 6"5 with 7 stitches in my chest I needed to stop after a few products for a rest when I saw the same member of staff approach another customer with a trolley and offer to open up a checkout for them, this was right in right in front of me, again I'd bought as much as I could physically carry. So i went to join the checkout queue telling the member of staff "I'm sorry I've tried but it's too painful for me to bend down that low atm. I've had major lung surgery and got stitches in my chest" I was then shouted at being told "You never told me you needed it for medical reasons, I'll have to get a manager now to cancel the self service checkout" I felt so embarrassed and belittled I could only think to apologise and say that I'm very sorry but I did ask politely if I could get a checkout opened. Again she continued "but you never said anything about it being due medical reasons" (I really don't think I have to disclose my NHS records to every shop I go to) But again I felt like I had to apologise/she just wanted to create/continue a needless argument. So obviously after such an interaction I decided the next week to shop at your nearest competitor Aldi, again they had no checkouts open. Expecting a similar interaction I again asked "I'm sorry but is there any chance I can get a checkout opened please" The response from your competitors...... "Sure thing mate, checkout number 5 for you".... That was it, no arguments I never felt the need to apologise or explain my recent surgery/recovery. So it's only after being treated with respect and dignity by your competitors I fully realised just how poorly I was treated by that one particular member of staff (with the pink cloth face mask) at the Lidl Union Street store.

Visited the U.K's CHEAPEST grocery store. It looked nice at very first instance.. but didnt purchased anything because we werent having any time..lolz.. !.. next time for sure!🔥🔥😃

Great selection of different nuts. But I couldn't find dry sherry or Plymouth gin surprised about the gin as they usually promote locally produced goods.

Can be a little hit and miss at times. However they are not alone and guess they have supplier issues once in a while. I do use this site more than any other lidl.

One lady on till 1 was just shouting at the top of her voice that too many staff were in and that she didn't need to be there... But she just wouldn't stop, was very off putting stood in the queue..

1. Quality had deteriorated that Aldi (Union St.) surpasses this branch. 2. Hardly any produce (Fruit and Veg). 3. Dismayed at the lidl app scratchcards given I have not won anything in the whole months... Truth be told, living local at RWY this is my local grocery store, however, given the above comments I much rather travel a tad further (5 min walk) to Aldi. The only positive about Lidl to Aldi is that they have a bakery aisle.

some of the staff in there walk around with a chip on there shoulder, and some of them walking around and taking the piss out of customers which is not right.

Great store. Typical size for a LIdl store. Well stocked. However never enough people on the tills.

Bakery is excellent. The doughnuts are the best.

Great supermarket with inhouse bakery, selling food, groceries, fruit & veg, dairy & frozen goods, all sorts of household goods, clothes, leisure, garden & outdoor goods. Each week, certain items available dependant on which theme Lidl cover; ie., Italian week, Mediterranean week, Greek week etc. Costs are always very reasonable & Lidl Plus App well worth installing, as many more savings can be made. Staff in Sur ton, Surrey stores very friendly, hard working & lovely. Car park allows Free parking for 90 mins. No toilet available though.

Good food variety, especially in the fruit and veg department. We were able to go through the till quickly, with only one customer ahead of us. The till operator was efficient and friendly.

Don’t get me wrong I love the shop, however today was disgraceful. The security guard that was working there today at around 4:20 was completely disgusting to me and my sister, I’ll tell you about Tuesday, my sisters both went into Lidle to get a few bits for theirself. After they payed The same security guard started shouting at them telling them they didn’t pay which was incorrect as he watched them pay. They didn’t have a receipt therefore they had to go back and pay AGAIN. My family doesn’t have much money therefore it’s disgusting how he made them go back and pay again. Today I wondered why there is never any cash self checkout machines open so he shouted at me saying the whole world is going to card. Get used to it! Which is not how you treat and talk to a paying customer. Please take this serious, me and my family are very upset as I have heard more incidents about this man targeting people. Not cool.

It’s a supermarket. Plenty of options here and some great substitutes for some popular brands

Beautiful bakery smell when you enter. Great shop usually has everything I need when I need it with very friendly staff who are always more than happy to help.

Reasonable shop, couldn't get everything we hoped to. Very hard to get white bread flour as it just goes so quickly, too popular. Fairly easy to shop at as not overcrowded. Good prices and quality. Interesting new offers on purchases each week.

Grocery store like any other but so ofter prices on checkout do not matching prices thos on the shelves. Today, because it's happened second day in row I said that this is not fair for customers. So woman on self checkout reply to me-You don't have to do shopping hire if You are not happy. No comment needed.

Friendly and helpful staff The fresh bakery has a nice selection of nibbles and fresh bread. Also has six self service tills which is a big plus for me.

Lidl is great. Low prices. Good value. Great choice. Local. Can walk there.

A cathedral of munch, many of my fellow freinds are disciples of this holy place. Cheap scrans and plentiful meals have been hand crafted using Lidls ingredients. Smacking a Lidl right in Stonehouse was a genius idea. Staff are absolutely astonishing and serve me every day, bakery section is well stocked, and the vegetables are fresh.

Always busy but got what we wanted and not long in the queue to self scan either.

Opening Time should be from 6.00 like Tesco most of Princes Yacht People start 7am can get into only suggestion 😉

Lidl has improved a lot in recent years. Meat and veg are as good as at any of the big 3. The staff is always polite and ready to help.

Never enough checkouts open, find staff are quite rude if you ask why they are always closing checkouts when store is always busy. Only use them for a couple of items as other stores can offer better prices and freshness especially on fruit and vegetables.

Open tills evening time, as I travel further to aldi as I hate your rubbish self service tills . There should always be at least one till open

Wide variety of stuff, can get anything you are looking for. However, every time I go shopping, it's packed with people, so it gets a bit annoying.

Really like the baked in store section but as with all Lidl stores all the shelves often seem to be poorly stocked lately. Too much "middle of lidl" stock these days too.

Great store for all your small quantity grocery needs. We prices comparable to Aldi however larger quantity items needed.

Why put veg in the first aisle, this leads to squashed products in trolleys.

Its a Lidl. Reasonable prices and reasonably good quality. I often wish Lidl and Aldi was under one roof because there's certain items one does better than the other and vice versa. However I think Lidl slightly edges the two.

I'm not really keen on Lidl me personally I prefer Aldi. To be honest there's not much choice and Aldi is cheaper

I am mother and I have an every energetic 1 year old. Yesterday and today I went in Lidl for my shopping. I choose to go at the normal check out cause I can’t hold my child , to not run away and scan the shoppings at the same time. In both days the staff members asked to go to self check out as they close the check outs. I said I can’t do it because of my child and I need assistance. Yesterday the staff kept the lane opens for me but today another staff member , looked like a manager told me again that the Lane is closed and to go to the self check out. Very annoyed I went to the self check , with one hand holding the child crying that he couldn’t understand why mummy is holding him like a pet to her leg and with another hand scanning my shopping . Half way through a staff member came and helped me , but she was called by other shoppers for different reasons. Was a staff member at 6 self-checkouts. I said to her that I feel is unfair to be the only one for 6 tills and she kindly said “ ohh I don’t mind” . I feel that this needs to be addressed quickly and professional. This situation made me to find another place to get my bread and other essentials. I am sorry but I will not shop from any Lidl for a while now.

Busy with customers, as expected .. but the staff let themselves down when a female checkout staff member approached a young man - not a local chap - as he was leaving the store and accused him of leaving the store without payment ... she had been serving people herself at this time & having marched the chap back into the store & asked another checkout staff member whether or not they had indeed served the chap only to be told ' yes they had served him' ... she just turned and left him .. he stood there waiting for his apology - which never came. He spoke out loud and asked for the apology with no result. This poor chap had virtually been called a thief, proven he had paid for his goods ... & then been dropped with no explaination. If that had been me being accused ? ... I'd have taken further action against the staff member & the store !!

I like Lidl's, but often not stocked well these days, but they have good products at decent prices.

I love lidl as a shop normally back home but while in plymouth on holiday i shopped in one of the local stores and i was not impressed on getting to the tills. No manned tills only self serve......did not like this at all with a large shop trying to put everything in small bagging area was a nightmare and then when finished and paid for goods had to try and decant things not very easily into shopping bags. Glad this store is not near us and hope they are not going to do this in all their stores. Sorry but proper manned tills would be better for large shops. But only my opinion. Unmanned tills are good for just a few items to be bought quickly.

Nice economical store store Bakery- good range, but no hot foods- but small collection of 🥪 ,wraps,suzi & other ready to eat stuff Veggie- good selections Fruits- I really enjoyed for couple of months- British strawberry 🍓, loose cherries 🍒 (excellent), quality of oranges 🍊-were declined over the time Meets - fine, no fresh 🐠 Cheese & diary- good range More than anything- nice & friendly staff & self checkout
