Visited whilst in Seaham with friends all of us had never been before. The place is clean staff are friendly and helpful. Love the decor and American diner theme. You order and pay at the counter and can can take out or eat in. We chose to eat in as it was raining service was quick and our icecreams were delicious. You can buy hot and cold drinks here milkshakes ice cream and a variety of different ice cream sundaes etc We would all definitely come back when we are next in the area .

Shocking!! From the moment we walked in the building the staff were so so rude. They carried on their conversation between themselves. When I asked a question it was shut down in a one word answer as if I was thick. In the end we walked out and ate elsewhere, on exit a family were walking in to which we told to avoid!! & will continue to do so if asked about this pace

I thought I would treat the kids and bring them here after a people saying it was great. Not sure what they found was great one of the worst places I’ve ever been to. The staff are rude and talk to you like you’re poo on their shoe… took I’ve ran hour for my order to come and when it did it was awful. Over priced and not helpful at all either. The place looks cool but that’s about it. I refuse to come back or recommend it to anyone.

I went to Lickety Splits in Seaham for dessert on Wednesday and I was blown away by their delicious treats. I had an Italian soda raspberry cocoa cola, which was refreshing and fizzy, and a baby waffle with blueberry sauce, which was warm and fluffy. The portions were generous and the service was friendly and fast. The prices were very reasonable, too. I paid £3.50 for the soda and £4.00 for the waffle, for a total of £7.50. I highly recommend Lickety Splits to anyone looking for a sweet indulgence in Seaham. It's a 5-star place for sure!

I haven't been here for years! I wanted to go to chilled out gelato for a Ferrero rocher ice cream and it was closed so I thought I'll come here as I haven't been for years! Waste of money, I waited about 5 mins to be served as there was one person making sundeas. I got a tub with clotted cream flavour and hazelnut flavor ice cream with chopped nuts, the hazelnut ice cream tasted like the clotted cream, they had no taste was so ever, absolutely no taste at all and the chopped nuts tasted dirty. I ate it so slow on my way home in the car and when I got home I binned it. It was a proper let down and I wouldn't go back again. So boring, boring flavours and boring taste. I didn't take a photo as there was no need, it was so beige.

I really love this place. The young people serving do a great job - very pleasant. We went for the double scoop ice creams and they were out of this world. The shop seems to rotate the flavours on a daily or weekly basis, so it really keeps it fresh. I was in luck because they had the rum and raisin and pistachio for my double scoop which is surely the holy grail? It was just wonderful. My wife went for the double honeycomb and she said it was lovely too (I can neither confirm nor deny I also had a taste of her ice cream too…) I am a regular and sometimes, during the inclement weather, I sit in to have my ice cream. The booths are great and has an old school feel. It could do with some love and care to spruce it up, but it is unbeatable and great value for money. Make sure to pay in cash because as a small business, they do say they pay a fortune for contactless or card !

First visit for us after reading about it in a local article. A member of the team appeared from the back (prep area I presume), food prep clothing didn't fill me with confidence. The ice cream fridge was messy with ice cream over the serving spoon handles. The ice cream labels to identify flavours had mostly fallen over or were missing. Prices were not easily seen. Choices such as sauces were not listed at the counter. The ice cream was pleasant but the visit was disappointing. It was a busy festival day so may be better on other occasions.

was recommended this place by a friend some years ago. Holidaying in the area so very excited to be finally visiting. Granted it was about 4pm and a hot day perhaps it had been very busy and staff were tired. Given we hadn't been before we were reading the information in the doorway which included the menu and a notice to say to order at the counter before taking a table. When the face of a wet weekend rather rudely told us to wait outside and pointed to the other sign that stated that. This young girl continued to be in a rather bad, sullen mood and was clearly not enjoying her work. The young lady who did serve us was delightful and very helpful. (She had long red hair.)Our sundaes were absolutely amazing. I particularly recommended the Turkish delight Sundae. Lovely place to go and not to overpriced. Just a great shame someone was having a bad day and took the shine off the place. Please give it a go and I hope she is on a day off.

I have been to Lickety Splits a few times and each time I cannot daily the ice cream it is delicious especially the Ruby which I tried this time- oh my word! Yum! However, the service has always been dreadful. The staff are lovely, when they do actually serve you but the wait is unreal. Even my 8 year old commented, “They can see you can’t they?” As another staff member walked past. The problem is that the person who takes the order makes the order instead of having a designated member of staff on the till handing the order to the other staff members to make up and serve the orders.

I had the apple crumble sundae it was ok but no crumble and the cream on top was just had a awful taste far too sickly and creamy. Other half had a sugar cone ice cream I left pretty much all of mine as it was off putting looking at the dirty floors and tables. Me and my family have a monthly visit to this ice cream parlour. The average visit costs us £20 for two sundaes and a single scoop in a tub and a bottle of coke. It is a little pricey for ice cream but I think it is well worth it because the portion sizes are large and all the desserts are delicious. I have marked it down one as sometimes especially in summer you can wait a good 45 minutes for a take out and on the rare occasion tables are not cleaned and the bathroom could do with abit of tlc. But apart from that it is one of our favourite treats

By the seashore you want an ice cream, it is what you do. Tried Lickety Split and I was NOT didsappointed. For the price of the sundae I received cindertoffee ice cream, a layer of crushed daim bars, some toffee sauce, then more ice cream, some chopped up snickers, more ice cream, topped with whipped cream and more toffee sauce. Oh my word!!! Was it delicious, they have a large choice of ice creams, and their sundae list is quite large as well, but I can truthfully say that this was lucious beyond belief and if ever back in Seaham, yes a sundae will be in my future. The only downside I have to mention is that it is not very customer friendly in that no one seems to know where to order, how to order or what is going on. The ice cream though.....Top Notch.

Maybe we were unlucky; it was the hottest day of the year and standing to order in front of the heat belching out of the ice cream cabinet was enough to make anybody ratty, but the last time I experienced such a rough atmosphere was at pub closing time. Nothing to do with the staff, who did a sterling job under very testing conditions, but it didn't make for a pleasant ice cream eating experience. Also, hottest day of the year notwithstanding, there had been no attempt to cool the place down and it was unpleasant. Ceiling fans? They'd fit with the fifties decor. Or even an open back door? In summary, we couldn't hear ourselves speak and necked our admittedly lovely ice creams and left asap. Should have gone for a takeaway cone and left it at that.

We visited as a two-family group on a Saturday afternoon in April. Despite the restaurant being less than half full and there being a lot of staff it took a long time for two lots of customers in front of us to get served and for us to place our order (around 15 mins). The staff did not seem well trained and the way in which they fulfilled the orders was inefficient. There was a good choice of ice creams, the ice creams were generous and tasty and the price was fair. The restaurant area seemed like it would have been fantastic a few years ago, but is now in need of a little maintenance (rips in upholstery, scuffs and scrapes on tables and floors) and the tables and floors seemed in need of cleaning.

My third visit here and it never disappoints. Today I had a Cherry Lee Lewis sundae and it was delightful. So yummy and tasty, a real pleasure to eat! I love the look and feel of this gorgeous ice-cream parlour. We all enjoyed our sundaes and waffles. Can't wait for my next visit.

Don't really know where to start....Its like a 50s ice cream parlour with an extensive menu...not just ice cream. Staff very good. Very busy when we visited but just as well as we couldn't decide what to have.. Can't wait to go back

Wide variety of ice creams, we visited when there were activities on the green in front by Tommy. It was great weather so understandably we had to wait in quite a long queue. Lots of flavours in cones or tubs and many different toppings. To eat in or take out.

We have been lots of times in the past, however our recent visit was very disappointing. The tables were left with other customers leftovers. The serving area was filthy, the ice cream had bits from other ice cream mixed in with them. Quite frightening thought if someone were to have an allergy. I will be using one of the other ice cream parlours in future.

Today (06/08/18) We visited Lickey Split in Seaham with our friend & her young daughter. The queue was really busy but as the restaurant was near enough full, we decided it was worth the wait to try it.

Expected it to be busy due to school holidays but not so, yet the tables were uncleared and dirty. The menus had goodness knows how old gloop stuck to them. Seats are torn, what on earth has happened to this place??? It used to be the best place for ice cream in the area, others are taking your business because of the basic cleanliness and service. I know its difficult to balance things when its a small business but maybe you should have been looking to keep this shop us to its original standards instead of investing in another shop! Especially now you have great value and excellent customer service competition in seaham!! I won't be going again, and wouldnt recommend to anyone else :(

We visited today for the first time ever. We were just passing with the dog and thought we would pop in to pick up a takeout menu but they didn't have one. The waitress invited us in with the dog which I was amazed and we sat in a booth where he was tucked away under the table and out of sight.

Visited here yesterday afternoon as a family and must say we will never go back! As we walked into Lickety Split we noticed all of the free tables were very dirty, so my partner asked for one of them to be cleaned, and we couldn't believe what happened next. A young girl who appeared very gormless started rubbing the table with DRY KITCHEN ROLL! I thought i was seeing things and I said to her "is that dry kitchen roll?" She said yes it is, acting very clueless. I mean who tries to clean a table in a restaurant with dry kitchen roll, even my 4 year old daughter knows you don't do that. We walked out absolutely disgusted and won't go back. Lickety Split should really consider the staff they are hiring.

I took visitors here on a wet Monday only to find a couple sitting with their dog on a seat feeding it ice cream . The lady then proceeded to pour milk into a saucer and let the dog lick same from top of table. Whilst i am a dog lover i do not think they should be allowed inside a restaurant and certainly not using the crockery. It did not spoil us from enjoying our ice cream which was very nice served by a young very pleasant pony-tailed waitress I do hope you will be able to stop this happening.

Lovely little place, next time I'd share a sundae with a friend as I could only manage half. Truly Toffee (£5.95)is perfect for toffee lovers. Daim bars, honeycomb pieces, perfect toffee sauce and creamy ice cream.

We stopped while passing through the town wile visiting the area. Food is unique and delicious. Not your average pub grub. We had the mixed grill in their signature peanut and lime marinade. Absolutely delicious and tender. Never had anything quite like it!

Ordered caramel waffle latte and a Chelsea bun for myself, my friend ordered a vegan coffee and cake, by the time we’d picked up our cakes my friends’ vegan coffee was ready and a queue of people had formed so we took a seat and waited, and waited and waited. So having seen so many customers come in and get their drinks instantly I went back to ask for my caramel waffle latte, first of all I was told it had already gone out and the assistant was kind of trying to ignore me as she just continued with more orders, then she snapped ok I’ll make another but she continued with other orders and as the next person she called returned to the counter with a coffee she’d had some time and been drinking, the Starbucks assistant took her cup and tried to pass it to me saying it must be mine! I was horrified and said I don’t want someone else’s coffee, it’s already been partially consumed and handled by another customer so not hygienic but also we’re in the middle of a pandemic. She made me wait a while then passed a cup, looking nothing like the caramel waffle latte on the posters and not knowing if she’d topped up the other cup I retired to the table where my friend had finished her coffee & cake alone, so I ate my then sad dry bun and as I was leaving spoke to a supervisor about the lack of customer service, care and food hygiene safety. I asked for the branch number snd name as I wanted to put in an official complaint but was told the web address would find them, the assistant would be spoken to about making me wait and given a card for a free drink. I’ve mailed the complaints department but 10 days later not heard a thing - we won’t be visiting starbucks anytime soon, I don’t think it’s safe!!!
