What an amazing time we had at this beautiful restaurant with our friend and kids. The food was absolutely amazing , stuff friendly and helpful, we visited on a Sunday , summer holiday , the place was empty which is a shame , I’m glad we decided last minute on this place to eat , didn’t disappoint

Nothing authentic, unfriendly poor service. Was willing to overlook however I was made to feel unreasonable raising that my food was cold, not to mention over priced. If you’re looking for a real Italian restaurant venture into Edinburgh.

I just wanted to take a moment to comment on our meal here. We were very impressed with the restaurant; the cleanliness; the toilet facilities; access; the decor; the service; the food; coffees etc. The gentleman who seemed to be a one man band, managed everything from service, to cooking, to taking the bill, to making coffees - all so calmly and efficiently. He even took our picture. Applaud him for all that he did. So glad you were open Monday as many other places closed. 👏👏👏👏👏. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Thank you so much. We enjoyed our afternoon with you.

First time here but won't return. Came as a pre-Christmas treat family of 3. Seated promptly and offered drinks. Menu order given and seemed to wait ages on starter. People seated after us got their orders first. Starter was reasonable but very filling. Calamari seemed overcooked and was rubbery. Pate was very dry. We all had different mains but tasted some from each plate. The meatballs appeared extremely soft and a bit tasteless. Definitely not fresh and may have been frozen amd defrosted. Spaghetti bolagnaise was very mushy. Everything very overpowered with garlic (not unexpected in an Italian but this was over the top). Meals was just over £30 person (including very over priced bottles of soft drinks) but not worth it. Not sure if coincidence, but all 3 of us barely slept due to sore stomachs and have been unable to eat anything following day.

Celebrated my 50th Birthday here last night and the food and service was amazing! As always, amazing food and great service. I cannot fault anything, really made my birthday special!

Had a 50 birthday party upstairs for 15 people the food and service was 1st class, ordered a handmade cake from them which was stunning and taste amazing. Thank you so much.

Took my daughter for a birthday dinner. Food was delicious!! Server was very pleasant and helpful. Only criticism was we were all grouped tightly together in one area which obviously made it easier for service but you were aware everyone could hear your conversation.

Always enjoy it here .I'm gluten free but always manage to have a choice. Chicken pollo mango is my favourite.

We were stopping by for lunch as we were on our way to our next hotel. There was Italian music playing. To my partners joy they played a song by Laura Pausini, which he loves. The staff member that took us to our table and served our table was very kind and helpful. We both had the tomato soup to start, which was good. Then my partner ordered the lasagne and I ordered the gluten free version of the pasta bolognese with parmesan. It didn’t come with spaghetti but I was informed about that beforehand and I didn’t mind. Instead it came with penne pasta. It tasted great and we really enjoyed our meal here. Every bite was incredible and the service here was great! It was just what we needed. Thank you :)

First time visiting Liberta and it certainly won’t be the last. Everything was 5 star - the food, the service, the decor and the cleanliness. The staff were friendly & efficient. Had a great time.

We visited this restaurant for the first and last time as it was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to treat him. At the time of booking (online) there was an option to give them additional information and I entered that it was my husband’s birthday. On arrival the restaurant was empty and I told who I assumed was the person in charge that we had a reservation. He checked his computer and indicated that the waitress would show us to our table, she walked in front of us put menus on a table and walked away! No can I take your coats or even move a chair out. We had to put our coats over our chair and sit down, after about 10 minutes the person in charge asked what we wanted to drink and also took our meal order. After around 15 minutes we received our drinks, they had been poured for about 10 minutes and were sitting on the bar whilst they both had an extensive conversation. Shortly afterwards the starters arrived. I ordered bruschetta I was a very large portion but I couldn’t eat most of it as in my opinion it was old stale bread that had been toasted, I couldn’t get my knife through it, I could only eat the middle and that was due to the fact it was saturated in olive oil and the garlic was quite overpowering. I love garlic but this was too much on a starter. My husband had arancini which found dry and in his opinion consisted of the wrong type of rice. The waitress just lifted our plates away didn’t ask if all was okay and continued her conversation with the person in charge. Our main course arrived my husband said that his tagliatelle papalina was okay although the portion size was quite small. I had the fusilli con Gorgonzola and was struggling to taste the cheese, the walnuts were whole and too many. During the main course I requested another soft drink, again this took an age, as they were chatting and inattentive. I actually had to ask the waitress to bring it off of the bar, she had forgotten about it, my meal was nearly finished. Again plates were cleared and no opinions were asked for on the meal. I requested our bill, it arrived with 2 sweets one of which looked like it had been taken out of the wrapper sooked and put back in. I pointed this out to the waitress and she said she would get me another one as it looked disgusting and she wouldn’t eat it, I told her not to bother. Even as we were leaving we we not asked if we enjoyed our meal or making any reference to my husband’s birthday. It has been a very long time since we have had such poor service and customer care and the food was so disappointing. I always like to support local businesses, however, I would not return to this restaurant.

So easter day,go for a meal 16.30 thinking it would probably be quite busy but no there was just another couple in,happy days or so we thought. After 15mins still no waiter, had to go to bar to order our drinks,when we eventually got it I asked if there was a staffing issue [lol by this we were the only ones in so definitely no busy]. Eventually 20mins after we were in waiter took our order. Bruchetta for hubby and I got the mushroom bruchetta. Pmsl I had to lift the cheese to find out if there was mushrooms on it I thought I was given roasted cheese but I did find 2 🍄. Next on to the mains lasagne,cannelloni Omg it was just disgusting don't know what they made it without the meat was rank. Overall definitely won't be back.

Two of us called in with not booking early on a Wednesday evening. The welcome was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and clean and the who experience was a delight.

This restaurant is nice and relaxing great menu choices helpful and friendly staff had a really great meal here on Saturday night the restaurant could have been a wee bit warmer as it felt really cold when we where sitting upstairs

Portion size of the bruschetta fungi was shocking for the price bread wasn't even toasted steak diane was lovely but price was extortionate for 2 courses plus the restaurant was freezing cold me & my wife were numb no heating on had to sit in our car afterwards to heat up .

Get the train to Edinburgh and save yourself some money. Food alright, service poor and prices to make your eyes water. It's a choice thing but I'll choose to go somewhere else next time.

Nothing on menu other than salad and bruscetta was vegan! Very disappointing! Even the tomato sauce is pre-made with eggs so I couldnt even have that. No vegan pizza either. Disappointing and obviously won’t come back. You should at least have something vegan to offer people!!

Was in the area for a work trip and was looking for an Italian in the area. This came up on our search and we weren't disappointed. Nice starter and main, just wish I'd had dessert now! Would recommend to anyone in the area

Enjoyed our food but it was very expensive. Meat free small bowls of pasta, £15 each. £9 for a small bottle of Prosecco. The lunchtime menu previously offered for years has disappeared since lockdown so serving A'la carte only. Why I wonder.... ££££ Charging city prices in Bathgate for small portions of pasta is unacceptable. Won't visit again due to the cost. £60 for 2 small bowls of pasta, 2 Prosecco and a diet coke for lunch on a Saturday afternoon! No thanks

Not sure what the problem was on this visit? ?not enough staff? Over booked? Whatever the reason this the first time we have had a poor experience having eaten here numerous times. The table was sticky to the touch and even the napkins stuck to it? The wait for food was excessive and was just ok when it was presented? Come on Liberta you are so much better than this!

Just disgusting. From the staff, the managers, the food, everything is frozen. Managers steal tips. Not worth the money you pay for the food your getting when you can make it FRESH yourself for so much cheaper. Money grabbers. Slave drivers. Managers bit creepy, one of the senior managers are very aggressive when things don’t go his way. Overall shambles. AVOID!!

Absolutely wonderful meal. The best cannelloni I have had since about 1987 and my first job was working in Nottinghams oldest Italian restaurant. Husband's carbonata was perfect, good wine selection and excellent service. Highly recommended from an Italian restaurant junkie.

I really don't know why there are bad reviews. I was brought up in Italian restaurants and my first part time job in the late 70s was waitressing at the oldest Italian restaurant in Nottingham I couldn't believe the chef here was not actually from Italy, the cannelloni was perfect, it contained a dense meat and spinach mixture not the catch all bolognese you often see, husband's carbonara was one of the best he has had, wine selection was small but a good choice. Lovely family run restaurant with friendly but efficient service. Highly recommended by an Italian food junkie.

Went there to celebrate our grandson's 6th birthday, party of 6 in total. No pizza offered on the children's menu, so he requested the pasta option and asked if he could have a few meatballs with it, the chef point blank refused to do this on the grounds of lost profit! He said we would have to buy the adult portion if that's what he wanted. NOT IN THE LEAST A CHILD FRIENDLY RESTAURANT- we will not return and definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND IT

Had dinner here tonight and it was amazing ! The carbonara was so lovely! Very creamy, my partner had a pizza and said it was the freshest pizza hes ever eaten :) , the service was fast too the only disappointment was the fact their whipped cream wasn’t homemade and the desserts weren’t homemade but we’re still lovely! Amazing! Myself and a few family members visited tonight, restaurant was very busy and we told as we were seated there was going to be a little bit of a longer wait. We didn’t actually wait too long but what we did wait was completely worth it!! Food was amazing ( carbonara is outstanding) staff were so friendly and attentive. Our waitress who I believe her name was Amy, is incredible. I have a 5 year old daughter with ADHD and sometimes busy social settings can make her uncomfortable but she made her feel totally safe and even got a lollipop at the end! We will definitely be back !!

Saturday night - waited 1 hour for drinks and 90 minutes for meal order. The restaurant really should limit customers if It can’t cope with numbers. Meals average at best.

Food was lovely however tonight we waited 1.5 hrs for our food!! I was given a voucher for Xmas for £40 and thankfully had taken the receipt my daughter gave me as apparently there was nothing in the voucher!! Stood for a good 15 mns while 2 of them checked this out!! Actually enbarassing won't be back!!

Been going to Liberta since it opened. Havent been for a while due to the pandemic and also due to refurb. I can honestly say, i have never had a bad meal. Staff are so friendly and food is fresh and out of this world. Thanks for another great meal and the place looks amazing.

After waiting 2 hours for our food last night it arrived barely Luke warm and with the garlic bread and pizza squished up messes. The chips were like scrapings left from the bottom of the chip pan compared to their usual quality too.

Visited this Italian often before covid. It has always been a favourite, lovely food. Coming back for the first time after lockdown, the food and the restaurant have changed. And WOW... if I thought it was good before... its even better now!!! I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and it was the BEST I've ever had, so creamy. Delicious. My dad ordered the Pizza bolognese and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We had calamari starter which was also 10/10. Staff were also brilliant, very attentive with quick service. Will be back soon. Really disappointed with the service received after visiting yesterday. Phoned ahead to ask if I could change the table I booked to outside (on a rare sunny day in Scotland) and was advised if depends if there’s any available which is fine. On arrival received a not so very friendly welcome and that we were impacting business by sitting outside, we then got the same lecture from the waiter which was advised as just educating customers but I would recommend educating on customer service. I would have thought lots of busy customers outside would attract business? If this is the case could I not have been told on the phone earlier and I would have cancelled the table. As someone who wants to support local businesses after a very busy year it’s disappointing and won’t be returning any time soon.

Spotlessly clean,tables sterilised before you sit down and food is the best Italian I have tasted locally and served by friendly efficient staff,I really recommend you try this restaurant,the owner helped me with my wheelchair and asked if there was anything else she could help me with,very attentive without interrupting my mean fabulous choice of food freshly made good quality and good portions quality without the huge price tag.
