A beautiful run out from weekend stay in Ruthin to an amazing little village with a fantastic pub for lunch. The dinner was one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had topped off with the most amazing gravy which the waitress kindly brought out another jug full. Definitely come again

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch. We were a party of 10 celebrating a Diamond Wedding and nothing was too much trouble. We had a 3 course lunch and everyone’s dishes came out at the same time. The food was delicious, especially the king prawns. And what a dessert menu!! We asked for a few modifications to our dishes which caused no problems. Drinks were flowing. All the staff were really lovely and helped towards an amazing celebration. I would definitely recommend The Leyland for amazing food and ambience (and loos!)

Very disappointing! My husband ordered the Cod dish off the Valentines menu, the piece of cod loin was about 2” a very small portion. The chicken supreme with white sauce was terrible I couldn’t eat it. The sauce was paprika and the chicken coated in a Cajun seasoning! Definitely not a chicken supreme! They did not charge for this! Would not recommend this place!

We’ve been quite a few times now and tried many meals. So thought it was only fare to do a review. You will never leave this place hungry or unsatisfied. So much care goes into the prep if each meal. The Sunday lunch 😍 so tasty and obviously great produce too. My favourite has to be their beef burger though. Wow absolutely lovely. The staff are always friendly and it’s always nice to see a boss get stuck in. The lady is beyond helpful, friendly and seems to look after her staff very well. See you again soon.

This is a very lovely pub with fires in both rooms. The girls who served us were very friendly and the food was really good with large portions. But sadly they didn't have any gf bread which they said they did , so I couldnt haven't any of the starters I wanted which was all I wanted to eat. Also we were charged £2.50 for a hot water with lemon which I felt was very steep (which I have never bn charged for be4 anywhere else). Its a shame as we had to argue to take this off the bill and the attitude we got from the manger was shocking. Its really sad as I would recommend this place on lots of levels but because of having to argue about the lemon which was very short sighted of her as we definitely would have gone back and as my friend lives close she would of gone back too. If money is an issue I suggested charging for the cauliflower cheese as this is an added bonus people would pay extra for. I wish you well but dropping the attitude will help alot with your customer facing business.

Lovely little find down a country lane. We were staying 4 miles away and with nothing local and no take away deliveries in the area we came across the Leyland Arms. We were welcomed and opted to sir outside. Service was efficient and friendly. We ordered a bottle of wine and starter/main and the food was incredible. The steak was cooked to perfection and those chips... to die for. We sat outside in the sun with animals in the back field it was all very idyllic. Couldn't praise this place enough and we will definitely be returning when we are in the area.

The steaks were lovely, well presented and very tasty. The burger 100% pure beef and topped with bacon and cheese was spot on too. The only thing that let the experience down was the free glass of red wine with the steaks... it was like drinking vinegar and was nothing like the glass of red we paid for... In this day and age that really shouldn't happen and was a shame as everything else was good.

Me and my family visited this pub for the 70s 80s 90s night! Lovely place but a shame about the landlord! Complete idiot! We paid £10 per ticket for the party and buffet the tickets stated from 7.30 by 9pm the food wasn't ready! So we asked because we had children with us it was gettin late for them to eat and they were hungry! Asked the landlord what time food would be! He was very rude for no reason what so ever! Says a lot when his own staff said he wasn't a very pleasant man! Couldn't fault any of the staff bar him! He ruined the night completely and we couldn't wait to leave! We will never return to the pub! Only if it was under new management! Shame really he needs to learn from his staff very unprofessional. The buffet wasn't all that either! Complete disappointment.

Was absolutely disgusted at the managers conduct. He was downright rude to members of our party. Tickets stated disco and Buffett starts 7.30 but no food was put out until 9.15. If this is the norm then it should have stated it on the ticket. It was definitely not worth the £10 charge. Would recommend that the manager learns some people skills as this what spoiled the night for us. There was no putting the customer first to try and accommodate us better. We will definitely not be returning to this establishment again unless it changes hands

We ate here with family and 2 friends on a Sunday about 2pm. The roast dinner was good although the plates weren't warmed so by the time the whole table was served the 1st plates to come out were coldish. The only thing I would say is if you're taking kids there, make sure you don't eat in the bar area or let them go near there. The local drinkers are quite generous with their expletives and aren't conscious of strangers/diners standing next to them. Although I made shocked eye contact with what appeared to be the Australian landlord, he chose not to correct his customers. You have to take this narrow route to use the loos! Otherwise a lovely venue and location.

Very disappointed with foul language from 3 persons seated by the bar, which got louder as the night went on. Bar persons seemed to accept this.I don't think this acceptable in a family orientated pub. However we will return but stay in the dining area!!Well worth a visit

Visited the area for a few days, staying at a friend's little bolt hole. They recommended the Leyland Arms, telling is it's their favourite pub in the area. We've been here twice in as many days and eaten here both times. Landlord and staff are very welcoming and were happy for our black labrador to be off her lead, wandering the bar saying hello to everyone. A very relaxed pub with great food. We are here as I write, watching the rugby World Cup final and nothing is too much trouble, every effort is being made to ensure we enjoy our time here (we even have the TV remote)! The landlord tells us he has two other pubs, I think the experience shows and we'll be sorry to head home tomorrow. Stunning location, great walking, fabulous pub. I really wish this was our local!

Came across this place purely by accident. Set in a lovely village setting, overlooking a country village cricket pitch (could be a great setting for a midsummer murder!). Interesting building, a very friendly owner who took the time to explain the additions to the building. Dogs are welcome as the floor in the bar appeared to be slate. Nice founds for children. The food was excellent, though my husband had a burger he said it was the best he had ever had! I opted for the cider battered haddock. It was delicious and the home made chips were ace. This was good value pub grub in a nice setting and a pub//restaurant whose bar takes you back to the way bars used to be despite the television and sky sports which has its own appeal!! Attentive bar maid/waitress (very pleasant) will definitely return with friends

The food on offer here is excellent. We have visited twice and during the weekend they offer proper man sized steaks and all the trimmings with a glass of wine for £10 each. Ours was beautiful. We went again for my birthday the next week and took the family for Sunday lunch and the food was perfect.

Went here on the 23/08/2015 on the recommendation of some friends. Me and the wife had the Sunday lunch. There was a choice of beef or pork. I had the beef and wifey had the pork. Both arrived piping hot after a slight wait, around 30 minutes. On our plates were four decent slices of meat, large Yorkshire pud, roasted potatoes, roasted parsnips, roasted beetroot and caramelised onions with a decent amount of gravy. They than brought a dish of cabbage and small pieces of fried smoked ham, peas and leeks in a creamy cheese sauce and carrots and swede mash. The combination was really fantastic. Waitress service was second to none, very polite without any intrusiveness. This was one of the finest Sunday lunches we have had in a long time. Yes, there is a slight wait for you food, but well worth it. One great point was that none of us heard the dreaded microwave ding !!!! and it tasted like it was freshly cooked. £25:50p for two very good lunches and two large cokes - very very reasonable. You get what you pay for. Well recommended - will defiantly go again. Well done all at the Layland Arms

Went here with a family party. Had to wait ages for our starters. My Thai fishcakes- one was cold and I doubt it had even seen the frying pan. The other was just OK. The sauce dip was obviously just poured out of a bottle. My Cajun Chicken although tender was bland with a bland sauce poured over but the redeeming part was the chips which were very nice and tasty. The wine list was in the process of being sourced from a different supplier so we had the choice of 2 bottles of red (same) and one of white. We had all three! As this was on the Friday I hope the Manager nipped down to the Off-Licence or Supermarket to stock up for Saturday. Sorry but I don't think we will bother going again even though it is not far from us.

We were staying locally to this establishment so having seen it advertised we decided to try it. On arrival we asked if they could serve us, 8 adults and 2 children, and after checking with the chef were told yes and shown into a room with 4 tables. The young lady was very helpful and explained what was not available but we didn't mind and ordered roast of the day. The food did arrive a bit disjointed but we appreciate that there were 10 meals so it's not always easy. At this point a man arrived and sarcastically apologised for the service and said it would have been nice if we had booked then left the room, closing the door on us! We all felt very uncomfortable at his rude comments especially as we had asked nicely first if they could serve us. On paying the bill he commented again saying next time please book. What a shame his advertising doesn't advise booking first or the large sign outside the pub saying FOOD! We could have saved ourselves a very unpleasant experience. We will not return........ Booking or no booking!

I visit here quite regular. They do so many choices and it's so tasty. Made to tour choice and they are a very reasonable price. Would never go to another sandwich bar. My personal favourite is Chinese chicken.

It is the first time I entered this cafe for over 60 years. Walking into my past. A spotlessly clean and sharp evocation of what an ice cream parlour was in the 1950’s - beautiful. The service was friendly and charming. Coffee with frothed milk - not a modern affectation. Where else can you get a cup of comfort in such historic surroundings for £1.28? I am sure the ice cream would have been as good as I remembered. An absolute gem and Rhyl should celebrate it.

First time visiting and we had a fantastic afternoon tea - absolutely delicious! The service was absolutely excellent and the staff were brilliant with catering for children. Nothing was too much trouble! We were so impressed with our experience and will be back. I didn’t get her name unfortunately, but the blonde waitress who served us the most was absolutely lovely and we can’t thank her enough for making us feel so welcome and looking after us. Thank you!!
