Comprensiblemente no comer. Espantosa.

We booked an early pre- theatre dinner and when we arrived the brasserie was empty. We had quite a long wait before we were attended to - somewhat isolated in our corner table - the place soon filled up and then service got even slower. We ordered one course - delicious calves liver with smoked bacon, quite the best we've enjoyed for some time, coffee and the bill took ages to arrive so it took the gloss off what should have been a relaxing occasion. On a good day this place has a real French feel about it but not this time.

The restaurant was VERY large and empty. The lighting was horrendous. The service was poor. The ambience was awful. The food was okay.I had a very expensive dover sole. It came with half a lemon which was good as I usually have to ask for extra lemon....but there was no gauze over the lemon so every time I had to clear my fish of all the lemon pips before I could eat it.I seemed like a dying restaurant. Post theatre dinner at this Bistro which was pre-booked. Website info stated last orders to be 11.30pm but on arrival was told it was 10.30pm however we will have orders taken.Atmosphere was a great disappointment! The music was too loud and neither the waitress nor we could hear each other. Too much echo and loud for a place that probably had only 10% of its seats occupied. I dread to think how bad this can be with a fuller capacity. The charm and ambience of a French Bistro is missing - very disappointing .Ordered Rock oyster and steak tartare - Oysters were not the best and at a price which should be much better quality. Steak tartare was disappointing and did not taste as fresh as it should be. It tasted as if it has been left marinated in the fridge for some time. Same again the main course. Ordered Frite Moules and sauce was bland and too creamy. No finger bowl brought to the table after asking a couple of times. Service was bearable and staff require more training.

We were a family of four dining before a theatre performance. We all ordered entrecôte steak. The meat was chewy, fatty and particularly over priced at £28. The frites which accompanied the steak were cold. When raised with the staff, they were unstintingly polite and charming and offered to replace it immediately. The replacement fish and spinach was lovely. The ambience was fine but nothing special, and the upstairs area was temporarily closed for refurbishment. The food was excellent - cooked to perfection, and just the right size servings for our main courses. The wines are a bit pricy, but for central London this restaurant provides excellent value, giving a far better experience than many of the fast-food or bistro-style alternatives. My background is in Food Studies and I have been trying restaurants in London almost every week since I arrived. I feel quite disappointed most of the time because there is a lot of emphasis on marketing strategies and less emphasis on food, what seems to me to be the very essence of a restaurant. For the second time, I was touched by the food. The confit du canard was extraordinary; the combination with the red cabbage was really harmonious. On the other hand, the tart tatin was the best I have ever tried. I was so immersed in eating it that I had the feeling that I was just the tart and me in the world. At least for a moment. The restaurant was not full and I don't understand why. I really encourage people to go.

As soon as we were seated, we were handed the menus and in a few minutes the waitress came back and asked us to order. When we said we were not ready, she asked us to order pre dinner drinks. At this stage we were the only people in the restaurant, so we could not see what the rush was. In fact the restaurant never got full. When poring out red wine for one of us, about half a glass was spilt on the table cloth which was then covered by a napkin. The starters were ok, but nothing was as described on the menu, but at least they were edible. The mains all arrived tepid warm, including the chips. I asked for medium rare steak, but it was raw. I tried eating it, but could not even cut it and the beans were over cooked.Eventually I had to point out the fact that I was unable to eat the steak. The waitress took it back to the kitchen. By the time it came back, the accompaniments were stone cold and the rest of the table had finished their meal, so I felt uncomfortable eating on my own, being watched and waited upon. The desserts were edible, but nothing special. All in all it was not a pleasant meal and will definitely not return, nor will I recommend it.

Desserts were very large but only ok. Overall we were very disappointed having read the reviews. Most dishes were acceptable, but not very interesting and there was nothing to make me want to return. With it being so close to Charing Cross and the Theatres it is ideal for anyone looking for a nice meal who is in the very centre of London. You can then choose from the main restaurant for a little more fine dining or the Bistro for lunch. One thing I do struggle with is understanding the menu but then again I should learn to read French better I guess.

Almost every time I am in London I spend a visit to Les Deux Salons. I prefer the ground floor brasserie-style restaurant. On my last visit here on 6th December 2016 I chose the "Planche de charcuterie" for 15.00 Pounds as a starter, followed by the "Entrecote frites, béarnaise" for 28.00 Pounds. Both were very "french" and well tasting. I would have loved to finish the dinner with one of the nice desserts or cheese but as I had the Planche de charcuterie just for me I just couldn't eat more that night. As wine I chose the Chablis Vieilles Vignes for 43.00 Pounds, a very good wine. The service by my French waiter was very friendly and efficient. The fact that my order and the general conversation between us was in French probably helped. There are of course many French restaurants in London but Les Deux Salons is in my view one of the best.

Terrible atmosphere as a result and did not feel welcoming. Food on the other hand was very good when it arrived would recommend the black pudding. We enjoyed a glass of champagne and went straight in with a main course. I had the bavette steak, which was a big portion, nice but a little chewy (I should have known that, I always have fillet). It came with a jus and frites and I ordered a slide of green beans. The atmosphere was buzzy but the lay out of the tables was not great. We were downstairs in the left-hand corner and there is a pillar which prevents the access to 2 tables so the waiter was having to shuffle past us to get to the tables. One of the girls eventually moved so we made some space but ideally they would remove our table from the dining room. £45 each for a glass of fizz and a main course and mint tea is not bad, in central London but I've had better...

Over-priced, menu problems, lack of clarity about everything. A group of 20 of us booked in advance. The first waiter did not know we had booked a table. Then we were given menus with NO prices on them as in NO prices whatsoever against any of the dishes listed. Then we asked for the prices and they photocopied one small piece of paper for us to pass round. Then they gave us the fixed price menu (not offered when we booked) which is about 50% less than the (over) priced menu, only to be told that one of the two main meals offered (fish) was not available. Chef says 'not enough fish' in the kitchen we are told. The wine (ordinary) was £27 a bottle, the restaurant manager picked his nose and then touched the bread. It was all horrible. The main courses were expensive and any vegetables were extra-£5-£6 per portion. For each of us it cost close to £50 per person. Individual staff pleasant enough. We spent some £800 + and did not feel that we were valued customers.

I've been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed the food, ambience and service. Last night I had the steak tartare followed by the chicory, Roquefort and pear salad. Both were excellent. My guest had the steak bavette with fries which was "melt in the mouth". With a bottle of good Pinot Noir and service it came to £78. (Good value for the standard of cooking and surroundings in this part of London.)

2 soups, 1 lamb, 1 skate, 1 gratin dauphinois, 1 small glass of white wine. The soups were good; the lamb average; the skate was barely warm. The bill was £64.The serving staff were pleasant - but the kitchen is letting them down. Even by central London prices the cost of this food was not justifiable. The place is big and rather noisy from the washing up area behind a glass panel. The lighting is dim and the eating areas are decorated in the bistro-type style - OK but a bit hackneyed.2 of us ate at 1.30 mid-week. We kept the meal small when we saw the prices. We told the server the skate was cold. She said she would tell the kitchen. The kitchen management needs replacement. We don't mind being charged high prices - but only if the food matches them. It didn't.

It was my second time here, I enjoyed it last time when on business and this time took my wife with me. The welcome from the blonde receptionist was frosty, it was 2/3 full and she took us to the worst table in the restaurant - the draughty one nearest to the toilets on the upper floor. I asked to be moved and we had a slightly better table. My wife had the Pissadelierre - salty and greasy followed by chicken. I had the bavette and chips which was OK. The waiter and waitresses did try hard. It is a Michelin listed restaurant but I couldn't understand why. I will not visit again.

We booked a table at Les Deux Salons on the recommendation of friends. To precede a performance of the Pearl Fishers at the Coliseum we wanted a decent meal at a time and of a duration that would fit with the opera start time. We arrived a little early and were immediately shown to our table where we had to wait a short while for someone to come and take our drinks order. We had elderly relatives with us, who preferred a hot drink, so we all had coffee apart from my partner who ordered water, specifying sparkling. The drinks arrives a little later, my partner got still water but as the drinks waiter also brought a bottle of sparkling water (also strangely in a bottle labelled still water) that was soon rectified. We then proceeded to order, three of us choosing the lamb, my partner ordering the monk fish. When the food arrived the monkfish was luke warm, my lamb completely failed to appear; the waiter said he'd pressed the wrong button and mine would take 10 or 12 more minutes. However he brought all the sides, which I decided to eat to avoid them going cold. The sides were very expensive - the portions small - the carrot serving probably consisted of just one root. In the interests of fairness I should say the food was delicious when it came. However before we'd finished, the waitress started clearing away plates, reaching across people and rather disrupting our conversation and enjoyment. We decided on a desert, which were very disappointing. I ordered the chocolate mouse, expecting it to be light, fresh and tasty. What arrived was more akin to solid, fudge like balls of sickly and rather unpleasant chocolate flavoured fudge. We again experienced the rather inept table service before requesting the bill, to which service was automatically included. This was by far the worst part of the experience. £199 for a two course meal for 4 people, with no alcoholic drinks, even at London prices, is ludicrously expensive. We shan't be going again.

I left several mussels as they had not opened during cooking, but assumed all was well... until 5am the next morning when I awoke to stomach cramps and unpleasant toilet activity... this lasted over 24hrs, not great when you're in a training course for work!Other people in my group were not affected as they had steak, perhaps I should have stuck with the steak too!Won't be returning in a hurry!

We visited Les Deux Salons because our usual haunt - the American Bar at the ENO - was taken over with a party. We were hugely impressed particularly with the quality of the two course prix fixe menu which was superb. I had a salad with Roquefort, apple, chicory and walnuts, followed by a daube de boeuf, both very good and very memorable. My wife greatly enjoyed the pumpkin soup though - and this was the only drawback - there was no vegetarian option so she had to choose the gnocchi & wild mushrooms in a cream sauce off the a la carte menu, which were truly excellent.Quantities were substantial too - particularly for the gnocchi.Just a small charge is made for all-you-can-drink sparkling water which is so nice. (As it was a no-drinking day for us, we cannot report on the wine list). There does not seem to be a great choice for vegetarians unfortunately so perhaps that is a weakness in the restaurant, however that apart we would wholeheartedly recommend it as somewhere with reasonable prices in the middle of the West End, with good, attentive, service.

We were visiting Canada House, a magnificent building on Trafalgar Square and decided to hunt for a restaurant nearby. We chanced upon this bistro barely a block away. The first surprise was the authenticity of the French style and decor. The second surprise was the quality of the food. We both had fish, which is often a test for the kitchen, and our entrees were delicious as was the plum tart. It was a Thursday evening and both levels were reasonably full but the layout made it feel spacious and not noisy. It is now our reserve choice if out and about in the immediate area.

I must have walked past this restaurant many times on my many trips to the west end theatres and galleries but have never gone in for a meal, until now. It has an austere street presence which does not do it justice. I went there with friends for a Saturday lunch after visiting an exhibition at the National Gallery. The service was excellent and we had an extremely enjoyable time. I had onion soup, which was delicious, followed by bavette steak and fries, which was one of the best in London. Often these steaks are paper thin, but this was a good thick piece of steak, well cooked and very filling for lunchtime, such that I could not manage a dessert. The waiter was helpful with wine recommendations and. although the restaurant was slightly expensive, we enjoyed the meal. .

Stumbled on this place by accident, there were several pubs on the same block but they were very crowded and noisy so we saw this place and were pleasantly surprised. Quiet and comfortable, drinks were good and reasonable. The staff was attentive and very pleasant. We did not have any food but only because we had a late lunch and were not hungry but the food I saw looked very good and if I were ever in the area again I would definitely make a point of returning. Again the staff were some of the most pleasant and helpful I have encountered on my travels. Management has done a great job with their training and hiring practices.

We arrived shortly after midday to an empty restaurant - no problem there - we were early. Extremely efficient staff, bread, water, menus all within seconds. Order taken well and promptly with wine arriving almost immediately followed by the first courses pretty quickly. Sadly, the 'French' Soupe de Poissons was far, far, too thick, the spoon could almost stand up in it by itself. The accompaniments were good. By that time the restaurant was fairly busy and then we witnessed the service deteriorating dramatically with staff mixing up orders, wine bottles not being served etc despite there being a lot of staff. On that point, I didn't detect a single French staff member in the restaurant. The main courses were Moules Frites and whilst the Moules and Frite were fine, the sauce was uninspiring to say the least! My wife's Endive salad was good. The Tarte au Citron was also ok but probably factory made.Altogether, very disappointing for a restaurant purporting to be truly French!

Our choice was random, we just liked this place, it caught our eyes walking pass. We didn't have a reservation but tried. No regrets at all! What's a good luck! A lovely and very nice receptionist (I remember her name was Jana) willingly checked available table and sat us there immediately despite the restaurant seemed to be very busy at that time. She even took our orders of drinks and managed them to be served within few minutes. Following dinner was just delicious, other waiting staff was the same way sweet and professional, I can only dearly recommend to everyone to visit this pleasant place and spend such a good time as we did. The wife and I decided to take her parents up town for a wonder then dinner. After dinner we decided to finish the evening off by having a few drinks here. Been here several times before where we never encountered any issues and the cocktails are/were delightful. We walked in where we were greeted by a female waitress where we asked for a table for 4. This waitress asked if we were there for dinner or drinks, where my wife responded drinks. We were escorted past the bar when the waitress then suddenly stopped then refused us entry claiming the establishment was full. There were plenty of seating. My wife and I have never felt so humiliated especially as were taking her parents out. We have been here several times and spent a considerable amount of money especially as this isn't a reasonable price establishment. I can say I certainly will NOT ever return here. Nor shall I ever recommend to friends or family. Feeling very annoyed and disgusted. I know we were casually dressed but to treat us in such a poor manner is unbelievable. Clearly this waitress did not like the way we were dressed/looked. Even the waiter looked over and must have wondered why were refused admission. Never again. To think this kind of behaviour is acceptable in today society. We simply walked away and went to Cafe Concerto, where we treated as customers and not like something trodden on at the bottom of your shoe.

Getting a good meal in the centre of London is not always easy. It is often a choice between the exorbitantly expensive or the extraordinarily tacky. Lacklustre chains dominate the area and can leave you feeling a bit depressed.Les Deux Salon is a breath of fresh air. It is a lively and friendly restaurant with a good menu and prices are reasonable.I had a fantastic steak tartare to start and a delicious black pudding with caramelised onions and mash to follow. I could not fault either dish. All of my fellow diners were equally impressed.A good choice for a good meal in the centre of town.

Les Deux Salons had been one of my favourite places for a quick lunch or pre-theatre dinner but after several visits of declining quality, the most recent visit was I'm afraid the final straw.Starters served quickly but main course took an age (around 45-50 mins) to arrive after starter plates cleared. Had to ask for whereabouts of main course as was in danger of missing matinee performance. When the main course arrived, it was raw in the middle. Staff seemed unable to know what to do about it and behaved poorly. The person claiming to be the manager appeared to be untrained. Clearly there are kitchen issues because another waiter started swearing upon receiving food for another table which had not been cooked to the correct temperature.Sadly, this is now a place to avoid.

We dined here as a table of two in the upstairs restaurant area on a Saturday evening. The downstairs bistro has an amazing and lively buzz about it, but for our mood and the occasion we were very happy with the upstairs table which offered a little more privacy. The restaurant does a number of things well, the wine waiter was very good, the menu well balanced, suitably French with some dishes that are hard to find elsewhere, and the space (at least upstairs) was spot on and beautifully designed. What left us feeling underwhelmed was:- our waitress lacked any form of energy, enthusiasm or interest in us. Despite being one of only 3 tables by the time the main course was served, we saw next to nothing of her. When choosing from the menu no effort was made to explain items that we expressed uncertainty over, and when we asked why the daily main course 'special' was no longer available, she simply replied that it wasn't! The wine waiter on the other hand (a young gentleman who's name I did not get) was engaging, efficient, and a pleasure to be served by - whilst the food is keenly priced, the drinks are overpriced, switching our final bill of two starters and two main courses, a carafe of white and a cocktail up to the £65 per person mark. Quite a shock given how well priced the food is. I would dine here again, although perhaps not as a first choice. I'd certainly exercise more caution around the drinks menu, and would hopefully end up with better service.
