We found this place by accident and wow! What a find! Amazing choice of vegan and vegetarian food. We were seriously spoilt for choice. I had the Jamaican Jerk mushrooms and it was served with rice and a gorgeous salad. Their homemade ginger beer is something else too! My husband had the smoked cheese panini and coffee, both of which he rated highly. We sat “outside” in the covered area, lovely in the sunshine. Staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient. I liked the way I could see into the kitchens too. One of the best places I have ever eaten. We absolutely loved it, and wish we could have spent longer here to try their desserts. Seriously good. 11/10 🥰

We stumbled on this fantastic place, as it was one of the only restaurants we could find that would accept dogs. Well what a find, the welcome was lovely, the service was great and the food was amazingly. The food was definitely cooked from the heart and the different flavours created on our salads were fantastic. We will definitely be back.

What a little gem. Interesting, quirky, courtyard vegetarian cafe. Fab setting. Buzzy, friendly vibes, excellent vegetarian food served. Lots of choice and daily specials added to the menu. Staff friendly and relaxed. Could do with something like this in Brighton. Definitely go there again and do I recommend, again definitely.

This place is a hidden gem in Diss Town centre, I am not a vegetarian, but I can honestly say I would be more than happy to eat here every day. The menu is minimal and varies daily with a choice of mains and deserts. I would suggest trying their bread and butter pudding, its absolutely delicious!

We stopped here for lunch whilst staying in Diss for a couple of nights, it’s tucked away down a shopping courtyard and there is seating indoors and in a covered outdoor courtyard. The food was beautifully presented and delicious, even my meat eating husband loved it! For dessert we had bread and butter pudding and it was the best I’ve ever tasted, I am not normally a dessert/pudding fan but this was divine! Friendly waitresses too who were really engaged and proactive which seems rare these days! Wish we had somewhere like this near where we live!

I am not one to ever write reviews on trip advisor but I feel as though I need to share my opinion to stop others having the same experience! I visited Amandines last Saturday and I have never been so disgusted. I am a resident of Diss, and have been for the last 20 years. I knew about the place but hadn’t visited before ( due to being a meat lover!) so me and my wife decided to finally come in for a meal. When we arrived, we were told that there was no table and that we could not reserve one if we left and came back, I do understand this and because the place looked so lovely we decided to wait it out. When we were finally allowed in, we were ushered on a very sticky table inside their greenhouse, there was coleslaw all over the menus and when I asked a waitress if she was able to wipe it down she rolled her eyes at me! I opted for a Smokey panini while my wife had a hummus and tomato sandwich. The wait was ridiculous and I was absolutely disgusted to see both of the ladies in the kitchen without hair tied back, and even picking at food! This put me off immediately. The food was mediocre at best, and the coffee was nearly cold! One of the waitresses that was working ( a younger girl ) was genuinely very nice and attentive- but other than that the experience was one I do not want to relive. Not to mention the 10% increase ( that is apparently stated on the tables) but neither me or my wife saw it- probably because they had tucked it out of sight. I will not be returning.

My suggestion to have lunch at Amandines was vetoed in favour of a nearby pub. We compromised and agreed to have coffee at Amandines, then lunch at the pub 🤨 We arrived, with dog, just before 12. A lovely welcome and nice table. We looked at the menu ( that l could easily eat my way through) - and both decided upon coffees. When the bombshell dropped. 'Let's just stay here. The menu could be fun' And that was that. A fabulous plate of toasted ciabatta with cheese and garlic mushrooms surrounded by lots of mini bites of explosive flavours. We didn't have room for dessert...so we'll just have to go back!

Went for lunch with my husband and our 2 dogs today. As a Coeliac I find eating out a real pain, most adaptable dishes are the same as normal just with things missing… not here! I asked if they had gf bread fully expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised! My initial choice made of Soup I was then informed the soup had wheat in it, so that was a no! I decided on a toastie and salad, it was utterly delicious and the staffs gluten free knowledge was impressive! As it’s near our home, will definitely be back.

Amandines is about half way between my home in Essex and my sister's in Norfolk and used to be our favourite place to meet up as well as a regular stop off on trips to stay in Norfolk. My partner and I hadn't been since late 2019 and were really looking forward to lunch there yesterday. The menu looked good and the service was prompt. For the first time ever we sent food back as it was not properly heated. It was slightly overcooked, probably due to microwaving, but was ok when heated. What was not good was the fairly loud rock music accompanying the meal. We mentioned this to the waitress whose response was "A bit heavy for you" indicating that our age was the determinant. Actually a lot of it was from our era, just not appropriate. On checking later when I paid it was confirmed that this is now the music of choice. Sorry, we won't be going there again.

When you step through the doors here, be prepared to enter a slightly different universe… this eccentric, ever so slightly scruffy building is a calm oasis away from the dull, corporate sameness of most restaurants and cafes. Massively tall glass doors and windows, rampant plants, scrubbed wooden furniture… you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’d stepped into a hippy cafe in 1970s San Francisco or family-run restaurant in Southern France. The indoor courtyard is especially relaxed, with its glass roofed shaded by canvas sails in the summer, warmed by a cheerful wood burner in the winter. The food is all vegetarian and much of it is vegan too. Everything seems to be made from scratch. My favourite is their hummus platter, with a generous pile of granary bread fingers (toasted just enough) and a scattering of different antipasto and salads, many of them combining interesting and well balanced flavours. Just the right quantity for a lunch, with room for a scoop of handmade ice cream. The specials menu is seasonal and always has something interesting on it to try. Prices are very reasonable too. The hummus platter, ice cream and a sparkling cordial came in at under £15.00. Words of warning: The cafe is only open Weds-Sat and only during the middle of the day. And it can get extremely busy (a couple of times we’ve tried to get in, but they didn’t have a free table). But to me that’s a sign of success.

We sat on table 6 (indoor seating with glass doors overlooking the courtyard). We were also charged £6 for a latte and child’s squash! When my husband queried the price of our bill they just said “yeah that’s right” but didn’t provide us with a receipt. Amandines is a well established restaurant in the centre of Diss serving good vegetarian food. The location is interesting and I have been eating there for many years. However since lockdown I believe it no longer gives value for money.Like all restaurants Amandines was closed during UK lockdown and is now open only from Wednesday to Saturday from 10.30AM to 3.00PM. Amandines is prone to unannounced closures; it accepts only payment by cash and reservations only for parties of 6 or more.Since reopening prices have increased and a jacket potato with cheese now costs £8.50 and a bottle of Coca Cola over £3.00 which means if six of you have a basic lunch it could come to over £60, which is payable by cash. In my experience these costs are in expensive compared to other local restaurants and are difficult to justify for a quick lunch with friends particularly with the added inconvenience of having to pay in cash.I shall not be going to Amandines again.

A family meeting of six - 5 adults and an 8 year old. We decided on Diss as a central meeting place for us, two daughters, one partner and an 8 year old Grandson. Two of the party are vegetarian so this was an obvious choice. It was a bitterly cold half term Tuesday and it had not occurred to us to book a table. However after some negotiation with a couple occupying a table we managed to rearrange the tables in order for us to sit together. The menu was comprehensive and there were specials of the day on a blackboard. Although there was a good range of very interesting food on offer I chose a jacket potato with baked beans and cheese as this fitted in with my healthy eating weight loss plan. This was accompanied by the most delicious salad I have ever tasted. The rest of our party were equally impressed with their choices and even the fussy 8 year old enjoyed his peanut butter and jam sandwich!!!As a non vegetarian I would happily return to this little gem.

How Amelia gets so much flavour into her food is a beyond me, and always accompanied with a world class salad with all the flavours the other restaurants are seeking. We just had to follow on with two desserts that were superb. The staff and atmosphere were both welcoming and cheerful which contributed to a very pleasant time. We shared our table with a couple of ladies from Leicester, as the cafe was so packed. Amandines in Diss is, in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in the UK. I cannot understand why it has never been put forward for an award. I have been lunching there ever since moving to the Diss area in 2013 and have NEVER had anything but a superb meal, plus wonderfully friendly and relaxed service. Every one of my visitors to the area have been taken there and all of them have been delighted with the whole ambience, the food, the service - everything. In fact they are all jealous that I have this wonderful facility on my doorstep. The quirky courtyard eating area is so attractive with the odd unmatched tables and chairs, plants and log burner for those cold days - one could be anywhere in the world. It is definitely a place to go if you feel down, because after being in the company of the lovely staff and eating the exquisite food, you leave fully satisfied and with a smile on your face. There is nothing about Amandines that I can say I like the least - it is all best as far as I am concerned.

We were told no need to book for a Tuesday lunchtime. When we arrived today, it was suggested we “find a table through there”. There was only one table available at the back of the restaurant meaning a number of trips between tight tables to sort out children, leave pushchair and retrieve highchair etc. We were not helped with any of this, so not overly welcoming for families, but there were two of us so we could manage. It was made less pleasant by the puttering from other customers and we began to feel unwelcome. Before we were able to sit down we were asked for our order but the waitress did agree to give us a few minutes. The highchair however was really dirty and sticky and unfortunately broken, as there was no strap to place between the legs to keep the child secure. We changed this, cleaned the new highchair (just as dirty) and ordered some drinks. We were ready to order food when the drinks were brought out but as we began to do so my daughter spilt her drink in her lap. She was soaked through and with how things had gone to that point, we gave up. We packed up our stuff, put the highchair back and my mum went to the counter to pay. Nobody said or did anything to help us and the only concern of the owner as we were leaving was whether we had also ordered food that we needed to pay for. It’s hard to describe how it made us feel so awkward. Going out with children isn’t easy but I haven’t felt like this in other places in town, or elsewhere. Really upset.

I have found this a great place to take visitors to for lunch - whether they are vegetarians or not. In fact I have taken a guest there who ‘doesn’t like vegetarian’ and he loved it. Very varied menu, quick service, no frills, incredibly tasty dishes - and home made ginger beer to die for.

I visited here with a friend for coffee and a snack. Unfortunately the toasted teacakes did not arrive and when we brought it to the staff’s attention not only did they give us another cappuccino and apologise profusely, but they waived the bill. Excellent customer service and we will continue to come here as the food is excellent, the venue lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Thank you.

Stumbled across this place by accident. So pleased we found it, lovely welcoming place, friendly staff and the most lovely food. I had creamy carrot and lemongrass soup which was absolutely fab and my husband had Brie and cranberry sandwich with a side salad. My husband said his was really good too and he raved about the salad (something I’ve never ever known him to do as he’s not a salad person) definitely worth a visit and we will go back.

Have wanted to try Amandines for awhile and finally met a friend to have lunch. We were not disappointed. Located in a lovely courtyard - the cafe has a wonderful relaxed ambience. The staff were very friendly and the food very tasty with interesting flavours with the salad all at a good price. The only reason I have not given an excellent rating on this occasion was that our order was initially overlooked - however, staff were very apologetic and immediately offered complimentary drinks - the food then appeared promptly and was very enjoyable. Will most definitely return!

This is a beautifully presented restaurant serving excellent, home-made vegetarian food. I had the lasagna followed by chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. Full marks for presentation and for taste. We had a very pleasant waitress and service was efficient and friendly without being over-fussy. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and relaxing; a place to chill. I imagine it must be wonderful on the music nights. I would recommend Les Amandines to anyone who loves real food in an unpretentious setting.

Good vegetarian food prepared to order - far, far above average. It gets busy so come prepared to wait a bit - it’s worth it. Word of warning - no cards so bring cash!

I’ve visited this fabulous cafe many times over the years and it never disappoints! An ever-changing and creative menu, all served with their brilliant signature salads. A true marvel! Special mention for their lovely home made ice creams - it’s rare to find flavours that taste exactly as they should. The coconut and pistachio are particularly scrumptious! As always, we’ll be back!
