We sat at the cafe. Service was aloof but good enough. Coffee was fantastic, interiors very cool. Tiramisu was just ok? Lacked flavor. Would come back for sure.

Disrespectful Service on My Birthday I came to Leo’s Restaurant with three friends to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately, the way we were treated left us feeling deeply disappointed. When I asked if we could have some of my birthday cake after our meal, the waiter said it would be £5 per person. I asked him to double-check, but he never came back. I had to follow up myself, and another staff member — tall, with sagging pants — confirmed the charge: £20 just to eat a cake we brought ourselves. No explanation, no smile, just a cold and dismissive attitude. We felt completely unwelcome. It was my birthday, and instead of being treated with kindness, we felt like we were a burden. To make things worse, one of the plates we were served on had a visible chip — something we only noticed after we got home and looked at the photos. Just another example of how little care was given to our experience. Thankfully, we ended up at a lovely nearby pub called Nobody Ask Me, where the owner greeted us with a warm smile and said, “Honey, don’t be silly — of course you can have your cake here!” That simple act of kindness meant the world to me. As for Leo’s? Never again. Terrible service on what should’ve been a special, joyful day.

I was a bit worried after reading some negative reviews in here but it turned out to be such a lovely night. Service was great, honest, attentive and not at all overly pushy/fake-nice. We loved the food. Riso al salto was delicious, the pork chop so tender and full of flavor, would melt in your mouth like butter. The agnolotti also so rich in flavor and truly amazing. Atmosphere is also a plus, great lighting (I don’t agree with the comments saying it’s too dark) cool posters and art, open fire giving a special warmth and smell to the room. Pricing on the higher side but completely in line with any London restaurant of this kind. Would say portions were quite big compared to other places. Absolutely would recommend

Leo’s The food was mostly delicious, it just wasn’t hot, or enough to fill you up for a £500 bill. Not great wine, at £30 for a .50 litre carafe. The snack we shared was ‘bread and butter ‘ one small slice of bread for £4.50, and for £9, some tiny slices of cured pork. Pasta for £19 was absolutely tiny, again not really warm, and with a salty sauce. You wouldn’t serve pasta like that at home. The tripe starter was hot , and with a strong , tasty, but again very salty tomato sauce. I had the lemon sole which was a nice fish, beautifully cooked, but unfortunately served to me cold , even though it arrived before the other food. It came with an amazing tomato salad ( London in March) absolutely delicious. My friends had pork, nice, but not enough to fill a plate or a stomach. The 13 year old went home to eat biscuits after his main course, as he was still hungry. It’s a nice room. The cooking’s done on a real fire, and most of the staff were sweet. What took my breath away was the extreme rudeness from the waitress, putting down a polite and unassuming member of our group when he asked her what the house cocktail was. Whatever had put her in a bad mood was not his fault, and her unkindness made his very expensive evening even worse . Obviously we won’t return, despite understanding that restaurants have to pay their bills.

We went to Leo's last night and it was an excellent discovery in a certainly less chaotic area of London. A small restaurant in retro style but with authentic Italian taste and with refined traditional dishes in a modern way. The typical Milanese sautéed rice and the artichokes with ham are absolutely worth trying. With a little more attention to the gluten free options (note the absence of bread) it would have been a perfect experience. Fair prices and research are what are missing in many Italian restaurants in London. We will definitely be back.

One of our courses took 45 minute to arrive which we cancelled as we’d been sat at the table for almost two hours. Mistakes happen and we were happy to move on and get our bill. The GM on duty however came over and was passive aggressive, telling us they didn’t think there had been a timing issue on their side. She also said we’d misunderstood the menu and that they had been very busy (even though two tables behind us were empty). We are local and were celebrating a friend’s bday - shame our evening ended with what seemed like a telling off from the manager.

This place typifies why I rarely go out to eat in London anymore. A place so up it's own a***, so thinking that it's so cool, so much tired Hackneyed retro style over substance. Service perfunctory at best. Ordered the boiled eggs with anchovy butter and soldiers. Eggs completely hard boiled. Also ordered the frittata, pumpkin and sage, basically an omelette with a few chunks of yellow veg and not much else. So 2 boiled eggs and a basic omelette for around £20. Drinks, after a couple of tiny Amaros, things only got worse. We ordered a glass of "Provence Style Rose" (tiny) and a Vermouth and soda. Neither were more than standard but both charged £11 for each. This is Clapton for the love of God. As they say " a fool and his money....." This fool won't be returning.

2.5/5 Had high hopes but left disappointed. While the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service was incredibly slow, and the food was bland. I had the potato and saffron tortelli, but it had little to no flavor—the saffron was unnoticeable, and the whole dish felt plain and lacking in elements. The pasta itself was also a bit hard. After reading good reviews about the tiramisu, I was once again disappointed. It was dry, and the cream tasted nothing like mascarpone. Aside from the coffee flavor, it just tasted like a vanilla chocolate cake. On top of that, it felt overpriced for what it offered. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back.

I've been to Leo's before for their Sunday set lunch menu, which was great. This Saturday, we stopped by for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch, a delightful impromptu experience. We tried the eggs on fried chips with prosciutto, a comforting, hearty dish full of flavour. The homemade pasta with cavolo nero pesto had a subtle but excellent taste to the salty end. To finish, the tiramisu was a highlight, with a light coffee cream, an almond-soaked biscuit base, a hint of alcohol, and crunchy chocolate pieces adding texture. Everything, from the decor to the cutlery and plates, made it feel like we had been transported to a cosy, unpretentious Italian restaurant. Highly recommend the cafe experience !

We joined the NYE dinner with a pre-paid set menu. The main point of information we got was an instagram post promising fresh pasta, truffle, and champagne. We paid for the set menu thinking this would be included. When we got to the place, they handed us a menu, where we realized we had to pay extra for all of the items above. We had our food which was very good, but the waiter kept asking whether we would like a refill for our (included in set menu) wine. We assumed this would be included. When we saw the bill, it wasn’t! We communicated that their NYE offering wasn’t very transparent on the prices and that this wasn’t very honest from their part. The host responded very rudely about this to us and we were just taken aback by this awful service. Really bad service, and murky prices, the restaurant is not clear about what’s included in the set menu!

Had a lovely lunch here, not many options on offer but what we did have was delicious. Chick pea, kale and potato soup was cooked perfectly; with unctuous legumes in a delicious cheesy salty broth. The place is designed well, lots of nice touches, and atmosphere is good.

It was a great local restaurant as Jim’s Cafe (and even previous incarnations) but having given this place three goes (in case we hit on an wrong day/eve) and willing it to do well as the new local restaurant I can categorically say I’m never going again due to absolutely awful waiting staff full of attitude and expensive fairly mediocre food. Well… 5 stars for food and 1 star for service and atmosphere sums my review up. Rude, hostile, unprofessional and badly trained waiting staff ruined all the hard work of the chefs at dinner last night. Surrounded by people taking pictures with their flash on was also highly irritating - not the best dining experience. Odd that the staff were ok with this behaviour but not ok with my friend and I staying on our table around 2 mins longer than our allotted time. We were notified we had to leave our table in regular instalment’s, adding to the less than ideal dining experience but cannot recall being asked whether we enjoyed our dinner... the waitress got so affronted that we were annoyed by being rushed off our table that she ran over to our table to defend herself - great customer service. I’ve noticed the waitress with short dark hair has been mentioned in another review so I find it odd that she’s still waiting on customers given she obviously needs better training! So disappointing.

🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵 Despite some comments from Google, it was flawless for us that evening! The setting and the open kitchen with its grill are very visually pleasing. In fact, the light is so dim that it is difficult to read the menu, but is that really annoying? The portions seemed quite generous and, above all, delicious. We were disappointed with the breakfast. The frittata, essentially a salty omelette with a small amount of zucchini and onions, was served with a few plain lettuce. The lasagne portion was tiny, nearly burnt, and lacked filling. At £30 for both dishes, plus drinks, it felt overpriced, especially since we left still hungry. We had been keen to try Leo’s for a while, and the space is an exciting, evocative one, with the open kitchen in the rear an especially nice touch. However the service we experienced lacked the care and attention that has gone into the setting. Our waitresses were neither welcoming nor knowledgeable about the menu. After waiting over an hour for the primi piatti, we were made to feel by the maître d’ as if our complaint was an impertinence. Given the prices Leo’s commands, and the Italian influence, one expects a bit of warmth and effort from the front of house. It saddened us, particularly as locals, to be so put off the place.

Stumbling upon this gem during our visit from the USA was like discovering a hidden treasure in the heart of London. It started as a casual dinner and turned into the highlight of our trip. The food was absolutely exquisite, a masterclass in flavor - we found ourselves debating whether to extend our stay just for another meal. The selection of natural wines was a revelation, like being introduced to a secret society of vino enthusiasts. (I’m hooked on naturals now!). And the staff - warm, knowledgeable and attentive. We may have had a bit too much fun because the next morning getting out of bed… well let’s just say we missed another tourism appointment… But honestly, for a night this memorable, it was a price worth paying. The man who greeted us was lovely, our server was sweet, really accommodating and good at her job. But sadly everything went down hill from there. The mackerel and anchovies was so stingy, two half pieces of anchovy and 4 tiny bits of on the plate, it was a joke. We then had to sent a freezing cold slab of mozzarella back to the kitchen which was £12 🤣 the pasta that then came out was £20 and uncooked, like rock hard. We sent it back as well, explaining that the drinks and our server had been so nice, but we just couldn’t eat it. Woman who I presume was the owner or hostess then came over very annoyed with us asking to know why we sent the pasta back. Hostile service joke prices, don’t bother! Between the two of us, we shared the pickled mackerel and anchovy (not bad but it wasn't my favourite), riso al salto (this was a bit too rich for me), cornish mussels (one of my favourites of the night - the mussels were plump and the sauce was excellent), lasagne bianca, courtyard ragu (super tasty - nicely layered and balanced), grilled pork neck and belly (the pork was nicely cooked but it was slightly underseasoned), the tomato and onion salad and the olive oil fried chips (both went well with the pork) and the tiramisu (ratio wasn't right as there was too much cream so I'd give this a miss). The staff are wonderful and friendly, attentive but not buzzing around you. The food however, we felt was something of a let down. We ordered mainly sea food and one pork dish. The seafood while fresh, was over seasoned with salt and what I think was lemon grass. In contrast the pork and tomato salad were under seasoned. For small plates, we were expecting big, well constructed flavours, which just aren't there. The tiramisu however is delicious! For drinks we had a g&t, and red wine, hard to get wrong. A lovely time, but the food needs work.

Really nice experience overall. The place, staff, drinks and food were next level. Definitely worth a visit, as it might be one of the best gastronomical experiences to enjoy in London.

Never eaten in the restaurant but had lunch in the cafe on multiple occasions. Great food, good service, a nice room. Actually nothing to fault. My only comment is that the coffee isn't Italian style dark roast, this might be good or bad depending on your preference.

Beautiful interiors, and food was good but mains options for pescatarians were weak. I'd spoken with the staff in advance (phone and email) flagging my dietary restriction and to request the set menu substitutions. They didn't share details of the set menu beforehand and when we arrived I could clearly see the substitutions were an afterthought - initial suggestion I heard from a server was "probably some veggies" and after some back and forth what they suggested was to bring extra quantity of the additional plate I was already having (instead of a thought out pescatarian main), which for the price was disappointing. Service was spotty but friendly overall. In the end, for pescatarians and vegetarians this may not be the place for you, but my meat eating friends enjoyed their meal. I would have appreciated to have had the staff be upfront about it when I tried to discuss the menu prior to booking as we may have chosen another place to go on this occasion.

Notting Hill lacks in grown- up, cool places where one can set an informal business meeting, meet a friend for coffee (out of the ghastly coffee chains that are around) , or have a great cocktail with your partner before heading to a restaurant. This hotel lounge and bar could be all this… but despite opening only a few weeks ago, It was 3/4 empty at 7.30pm yesterday. There is too much harsh lighting; not enough sofas, too many high tables. Despite an interesting attempt to evoke the Caribbean origins of post- war Notting Hill, and its famous carnival, design overall feels artificial, because of some details that are truly bad. Mainly these are the “fake distress” aspect of too much of the furniture which drags the whole into cheap artificiality. If you do distress, do it with real, beautiful distressed old stuff - there are lots to find in galleries, flee markets etc but the cheap chemically done items are a no if one wants to create ‘ an atmosphere’.It is baffling to see that with probably the big budgets such hotel “brands” have, they don’t get it right despite good intentions. Bottom line this huge space lounge and bar looks like a lost opportunity for the place to bring in Notting Hillers who would help making this place a nice hub. This would probably delight the hotel guests and makes it a real destination hotel. But perhaps it is not too late for them to fine tune it- so that the neighbourhood does not have to cope with a huge slightly desolate and bright non place!

I recently stayed at Premier Inn Hackney with a friend, and it was an amazing experience! The room was spotlessly clean, and we had the best breakfast. The manager was handling everything himself, yet he still took the time to check on the breakfast service, ensuring everything was perfect. When we checked out, he even asked if we wanted to leave our luggage, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend this place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What should have been a cozy café has become a shelter for clearly unwell individuals engaging in disturbing behavior - screaming, spitting, and in some cases even relieving themselves on-site. This isn’t tolerance - it’s a complete abandonment of basic standards. A café should be a safe, clean, and comfortable place for everyone. What an absolute shame.
