Staff seemed friendly and keen to help. Food was a little under seasoned but was made well and quickly

It wasn’t bad but neither was it good. The bibimbap was 2/3 rice and lacked the portions of associated vegetables you would expect, the ramen was spicy driven by chilli flakes but lacked any real flavour. Such a shame as the service and ambience really got my hopes up. Won’t be eating there again.

I tried the food here a couple of weeks ago and it was so delicious!! i would totally recommend this place.

This place was amazing. I went there with two other people and we had a L1, L2 (me) and an L3. Mine was the freshest/hottest but the absolute star of the show was the Kimchi Pancake. SO GOOD. I will return!

This place changed hands recently (late 2023), so the previous photos and reviews are no longer relevant. It is still a Korean restaurant, now called Yami. It now has Korean BBQ, Sushi, Korean fried Chicken, Bibimbap etc. It does lack some dishes the old place had (no Gimbap or udon soups) but is still good food and inexpensive. £20 for half a fried chicken and Bibimbap.

The service it’s nice although a bit rushed, I used to go to this restaurant at least once a month but recently they’ve changed management and it’s mainly Japanese dishes now which are still in my top10 list, the issue was that half of the menu was changed and the rest was almost unavailable due to the sushi chef absence plus my friend and myself got a hair inside the plate which was disgusting of course Unfortunately I have decided not to go again for now, maybe I’ll give them another chance providing that the dishes on the menu will be all available

My first time eating at this Korean restaurant, and imagine when you order your favourite food and they bring you a big portion of chicken katsu like this for just around £9 ,,,, just wow 👌 I'm so happy to go back again and try other dishes too. This one was very delicious, service 10/10

A nice place to try Korean food. Tteokbokki and beef jerky are delicious. If you sit outside, pigeons might be your biggest enemy.

Tempura and beef bulgogi Udon was good and tasty. But the kimchi pancake was the worst I had so far. Overall, it was okay for the price they offered with.

I've been to Gurume a few times recently and it has been great each time. The service is very friendly and professional. They do take a little bit longer to prepare the food compared to the other 2 or 3 Korea/Japanese places along the same street, however, they also seem like they're doing things fresh, and not just scooping the food out of a batch that they cooked earlier. This definitely makes them much more consistent with the quality of their food, and its worth the added wait if that's important to you. I'd definitely recommend this for a quick, tasty and filling bite to eat.

Both Oyakodon (chicken-egg rice bowl) and Gyudon (beef rice bowl) are nicely done, kimchi soup is heated in stone bowl which is spicy and delicious. Value set👍👍

Ordered a beef noodle soup for just under £9, it was so small,pretty sure that was a child portion, still hungry after the meal

Worst kimchi fried rice i have ever had, the rice is so wet and sticky that it is not possible to separate from each other…

Lovely Korean food and very friendly staff

The chicken teriyaki was quite dry (no sauce on the dish), bland with over cooked rice. The chicken katsu was alright, could have used a little more sauce. The best thing was the fried gyoza, crispy, and juicy!

Food was great!!! Super reasonably priced and tasty. The Korean cashier was super nice and very helpful, thanks to him, I will come back soon!

A bit underwhelming. Given that there are 4 other asian street food places on this street. All whom I have tried. This place looks different and has a nice traditional feel to it. I imagine, this is what draws people in to try. Makes you think youre in for an authentic cultural delight. I had the ramen, topped with Katsu chicken, which was an additional charge. Very average flavour, with not much else in the bowl other than noodles and slithers of carrot. Along with the small portion of chicken. They charge 10% extra for eating in, which is unreasonable when added to the prices. Especially as the other restaurants on the street give you great portions for the same price and no extra charges. Inside felt cold, both temperature inside and the atmosphere. No music or tv etc. Just a cold room with the silence only being broken by the staff talking amongst themselves. Ive definitely had worse food. But, they are really underachieving, what could be a great location. I wont condemn it. However won't return as is.

Lunch today wasn’t very good. Rice over cooked, chicken way too chewy. Service wasn’t great either. Tasteless lunch. 👎🏻 cafe empty but not allowed to sit & eat unless paying 10% extra. A no for me especially with loads of other eateries in Kingston.

Trash food, do not go here, all of the good comments other people gave must be fake😅😅 one of the worst food I have ever had, if you do not want to waste your money? Go to other places. Except for the women who works there is Korean, others are Chinese but the food were still bad AF When the Korean girl made it!! I really wanna question the people who said the food was good???? Bet these people never had good food in their life😅😅 this restaurant should not even be allowed to opened in the first place, how can they be so bad at cooking and wanting to earn money for providing food for other people lol. They should close down!

Underrated gem in Kingston. Authentic great tasting food, the atmosphere and decor is uncanny. Family run and friendly staff too! So far I can recommend the soups, toekbokki and bento box

Everything I ate are directly from the phuking fridge and premade products bought from supermarket, prawn tempura even the soup is premade never coming back again Im just wondering if they can really cook or not, doesn’t makes sense to me , supermarket food with restaurants prices

there are a lot of food that’s not available and the soft tofu hot pot has little tofu

10% charge for eating in. I had the fried chicken bento box. Vegetables weren’t fresh, fried chicken was dry and the kimchi pancakes were greasy.

Premium prices for cafe food that doesn't deliver.👎 Possibly one of the worse Korean food experiences. This could be a one off occasion but firstly the staff was not attentive,as soon as I walked in no acknowledgement they were far more interested in doing something else. The guy who served us at the till was forgetful, absent minded and worse off wasn't knowledgeable on his products, example from the menu I asked for Korean barley tea, he turned to ask his colleague is this it? Pointing at green tea, I had to correct him it was the other tub which was labelled Korean tea. Needless to say he did get my order wrong in the end. The food was small in portion for the price I paid, in New Malden £10 would easily get you a large soft tofu stew with rice 🍚, this place charged £6.50 just for tofu stew with £2 extra for rice and a small plate of kimchi. The food itself was also abit of a shambles soft tofu was watery, while my Jjajangmen was bland. I truly hope this was a off day for them but usually a place is good at something, which I didn't experience. For the price they charged i would highly not recommend.

I found the chicken teriyaki yakiudon was a bit too watery, ended up with the plate of sauce. The sauce was over sweet, no savoury taste. Ok at best!

Just so so. Beansprouts way too salty. The kimchi jigae is alright actually. Waited 40 mins for food when there were only 3 tables. Upon asking, they mixed up the order. I think they could have told us instead of making us wait. As it stands there are better places to go.

Kimchi fried rice was not good..

Fast food shop with restaurants price. Food Look good but bad taste. The most disappointing is the chicken is cold ,which has been cooked long time before. So not fresh.

Out of 3 meals, only 1 was OK. Rest was bland, some of the food tasted like it was fried the day before or earlier. Won't be coming back. It took a while for the staff to empty my table of the previous customers food. I received my food before they started cleaning.

Took 25 minutes to receive our areaway bibimbap- not sure if they just take long or they forgot about us. Either way the staff were dismissive and fairly rude. Food was fine, neither here nor there. Don’t recommend.

Proper home cooked meal by a Korean mama! This place is a 💎 gem. It’s affordable, delicious and excellent variety. We dropped by on Sunday late afternoon cause we were not bothered to cook and feed the entire family of four for under £33. Honestly this is one of the best Korean quick meals you will need. There is literally one Korean mama behind the counter cooking with her assistance and she serve the food quick and hot. With the amount of variety I thought it was going to be a long wait and I was proven wrong. This is not fine dining but street style Korean food on offer. The family could pick and choose what they want. There are plenty jugs of water if you are not up to soft drinks and could save you some money. Eating in would cost 10% extra but it’s worth paying because its clean comfy and a huge tv tuning k-pop 24/7 to entertain everyone. I would go back again when I really need a dose of home cook quick food!

It’s very similar bunsikjum in S.Korea. Kimbab, Dukboki and Ramen.. It's a very good place and food.

Place has got nice Asian feel, reasonable prices and decent size portions. I had chicken teriyaki with rice and it was OK but not perfect. I would say it needed more spices and more teriyaki sauce.

Cheap and cheerful, tasty food! Generous portion sizes, had to get a takeaway box for half of my meal. My favourite dish was the assorted pancakes, would definitely come back again next time I am in Kingston!

We waited for 50 minutes for 3 dishes. Totally understaff. The take away customer and 4 people family waited long as us. Feel very bad. They did not have seafood so cannot make our seafood pancake so we changed to the vegetarian pancake. Vegetable is 2 pounds chaeper, but we had asked 3 times for the money changes. At the end the waitress took out the changes from her own pocket,,, feel so bad ..Please hire more people at peak hours instead of getting all the the profits while draining the customers and staff

I am writing this review with a deep regret, i made the mistake of getting done lunch here and it was unedible. I don't like wasting food and will do my best to eat what i buy but the food i got here the other day was so bad had to dump it. After i ordered, i noticed some microwaving of something in a mug, and after which, itwas emptied into my dish. I asked if the food was microwaved, not sure if the first lady understood and said no. Then the manager said yes and is there a problem with that. For me yes, microwaved good is bland and not fresh. It would not have been issue but it tasted so bad i felt bad for the bin it ended up in. The rice was overly sticky, the teriyaki sauce bland and the chicken stale. Why bother opening a restaurant on the a street filled with competition to serve terrible food, just makes no sense.

The counter has got the right atmosphere; it is ideal for a quick bite. Food is served quickly and staff is friendly enough. The bar was not clean to sit and eat. Beside, there were no cups to have some water from the water bottles. I had to use a soup cup to drink water. Food was not delicatessen but tasty enough.

A hidden gem! I got the chicken katsu udon noodle soup and also got some fried chicken as a side (the chicken is halal!) and it was absolutely wonderful. The flavour of the soup was perfection. The food portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. The overall vibe of the restaurant is very nice, I enjoyed eating in as it was spacious. My brother tried the yaki udon noodles and the flavour of it was amazing! The menu has a great range so I’ll definitely be going again to try more of the items! Gurume is easily my new favourite food spot in Kingston. 100% would recommend.

Beautifully prepared food and large portion sizes. Impressive menu and good collection of soft drinks! The gentleman serving and preparing our meals was very polite and pleasant. Chilled atmosphere and clean surroundings, absolutely DO recommend this place to your friends, it's fantastic.

Fast providing delicious food. It is very closed to Japanese original food. Not too expensive but brings me full stomach for one order and chilled environment with good table service.

The beef bulgogi udon was incredible and the staff were very polite. I highly recommend visiting.

Gurume serves delicious food at competitive prices. I very much liked its cleanliness and friendly staff. Definitely one of my go-to places in Kingston.

This place is truly a hidden gem out of the neighbourhood restaurants. The tempura udon and fried chicken were delicious and the price was reasonable. The place was also clean and spacious. Would recommend and will certainly revisit soon!

Really nice Small joint in heart of the town nice friendly place with really good food mist try bento for 8.75 you will get a proper bento rest everything looks good as well you will not regret .......
