Attended Leger Lakes for Afternoon tea Saturday 26th Oct. Very well presented, plentiful of sandwiches, sausage rolls and salad. Cream scones very tasty and cake we had to take home, due to eating too much. We would highly recommend and very well worth the price. We will definitely be back.

Came on Sunday with my nan , wife and daughter. Beautiful little tearoom with lovely surroundings including some very friendly alpacas. 3 of us had homemade meat and potato pie and was hands down the best pie we've had with an unbelievable amount of tender steak throughout. Fantastic service even though we were only a drop in and they were incredibly busy

Stayed 1 night at the beautiful stables next door then had a wonderful brunch at the tea rooms the next day. We had the small breakfast & scrambled egg on toast, the kids had pancakes with fresh fruit and a childrens breakfast from the brilliant childrens menu, the ingredients where excellent quality and tasted gorgeous. The location, views, staff, food and feel of this place is surreen and picture perfect. I would highly recommend the stable to stay and the tea rooms to eat and relax, they even provided an extensive alcoholic drinks menu so if you fancy a cold larger or a glass of fizz whilst soaking up the ambiance of this very calm, friendly, warm and welcoming place. Thank you again and we hope to visit again soon.

Pulling up to the Leger lakes you’re greeted by a wonderful view of the animals and lakes, there was ample parking. We were greeted very warmly by the front of house staff and the cooks. We were seated promptly and the table was laid out beautifully. Our server Sami was fantastic, he was friendly and funny. The food from start to finish was fantastic and the cakes even more so. The owner Mick was also very nice and personable. We couldn’t quite finish all of our food so they brought us takeaway boxes so we didn’t have to waste it. What a fantastic place we will definitely be back.

Me and my husband are regular customers of Leger Lakes and feel so lucky that it is on our doorstep. We recommend this place unreservedly. Nestled on the outskirts of the lovely village of Laughton-en-le-Morthen, which lies between Thurcroft and Dinnington in South Yorkshire, Leger Lakes is an absolute must for anyone who enjoys top class food, served by friendly, professional staff, in a wonderful location. Catering for all tastes and diets this establishment takes pride in its fresh, varied and creative menu. From amazing cakes and pastries, wholesome breakfasts, afternoon teas, Sunday lunches and now special themed nights, the variety is endless. Nothing is too much trouble for Jayne and her staff. During the present Covid-19 restrictions, every care is being taken to follow the strict guidelines and the latest outside installation (see photos), enables friends and family to meet up and eat together in style and comfort. Leger Lakes also has fishing lakes for the anglers amongst us, which have pods for overnight fishing and with the eatery just a walk away, food can be delivered to the pods. See Leger Lakes own Facebook pages for more information on the tearoom and fishing (Leger Lakes Tearoom) and (Leger Lakes). Leger Lakes Tearoom is dog friendly and with miles of beautiful countryside, loads of public footpaths and a place frequented by keen cyclists, is a paradise for getting close to nature and exercise during these troubled times. The walk down to Roach Abbey, through the magnificent Kings Wood is an absolute delight and the thought of a gem of a tearoom either before, after or at both ends of the walk is a big bonus. The site has horses, donkeys and various other animals within its grounds and this just adds to the unique ambiance of the whole experience. A large car park makes it easy for those not on foot and it is easy to access on the road between Laughton-en-le-Morthen and Firbeck.

Wow - fabulous vegan stuffed mushroom salad and also companions really enjoyed their beef cobbler meals. Lovely drinks too - coffee lattes and hot chocolate made with plant milk.A large mushroom filled with pesto, sautéed mushrooms, melted vegan cheese and topped with a Parmesan-type gratin with a generous side salad - mixed leaves & peppers, cherry tomatoes and cucumber drizzled with balsamic dressing - and salted thin flatbread triangles (I think that's the right term), and a portion of vegan mayo. This is the best vegan meal I've had out that I can recall. I wasn't expecting anything like this at a cafe - I'd expect to go to a restaurant for a meal like this.Stunning - great value too at £5.50 for the stuffed mushroom meal. Looks nice & new from outside. Cosy inside although I personally thought there were too many tables in the present circumstances. We had booked for 2nd sitting of lunch. Orders for drinks quickly taken & meal order taken. I had forgotten to book vegetarian so opted for just veg. 2 meals and the vegetables arrived. We had to ask for the 3rd meal as it seemed to have been forgotten. Hence the vegetables were of small quantity to serve 3. When finished we noticed desserts were being served which suddenly stopped. After a while you could see everyone looking around wondering what was happening. All staff avoiding any eye contact. We managed to stop a waitress in her tracks to ask about dessert. We were told they had run out. No apology. Now here’s where the word “booked” becomes important- they knew how many they were serving so should have cooked enough for everyone. This boils down to either inexperience or inefficiency. We opted to buy cake to take away. So I’d say if you were planning to go then book 1st sitting you’d stand a chance of getting a 2course meal.

But then not really surprising given the fantastic home made cakes, scones and freshly made sandwiches and salads. A hidden gem. I invited all of my family here for Christmas afternoon tea and what an amazing time we had. Every person in my party commented on how amazing the food was not to forget the scones and cake (that we couldn’t even finish!). Everything was presented to a Hugh standard and the staff were amazing. They were very welcoming to first time customers in my party but also to us regulars! The staff had also prepared a separate stand for myself who is very fussy with their food and allowed me to adapt the booking so that I could eat everything. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we wasn’t disappointed. If you haven’t been here then you really are missing out. The afternoon tea reflects the high quality of the menu too and I can’t wait to eat off the winter menu on my next visit!

We have been here many times and enjoyed the food and service however on Saturday was completely different; There was clearly an issue with our booking although I had proof with a receipt and a deposit I had paid, we was made to feel very very uncomfortable, after about 20 minutes of eating our food my mum asked the waitress for another coffee and she replied ‘ Can you just wait a moment I need to ask you first what name was your booking under ! She then walked off and didn’t come back.We had Christmas afternoon tea for four people and everything was crammed onto one cake stand all the sandwiches, quiches and pigs blankets were on top of each other and tuna was spilt on other sandwiches and right at the very bottom was a very flat salad. It came with a small amount of tartar sauce, bitty salad, and very greasy wedges. My wife had a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich with greasy wedges and a bit of salad. A tea and a coffee for > £22. We have had breakfast here a few times since it opened. It's a lovely welcoming cafe with nice decor and it's lovely to see the few animals outside. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order, we've noticed the sausages have changed and are nowhere near as nice as they use to do, I think they use to be local produce but I don't think they are anymore, bacon is still great and all is cooked well not greasy like some cafes. It would be good if there was more ventilation as when breakfasts are cooking it can get a bit smoky and make your eyes water as the cooking area is part of the cafe. Cakes look delicious, we've not tried them yet as always come for breakfast, coffee is good.

Plentiful servings of delicious home cooked food. Lovely coffee and the staff are all gorgeous! The ploughman lunch was one of the best I've had. The cakes were a proper slice of cake

Called in for a look round and lunch. The lakes are very poor. Filthy looking with dead fish floating on the surface. Not a good sign.

Came with the family for breakfast and can say we weren’t disappointed. Great quality food and you can taste the difference. Cakes and buns are made on site and makes such a difference as opposed to food you get nowadays which is supplied by wholesalers. Would very highly recommend if you like something not run of the mill and away from any sort of chain.

Visited today with my father in law and have thoroughly enjoyed a great days fishing, catching a variety of decent sized carp and roach but with the added bonus of superb hospitality!

Booked a fishing day for my husband's birthday and afternoon tea for the family which included two children aged 5 & 6. This was our first visit and won't be our last. The staff were so welcoming and the service first class. Wonderful fresh, tasty afternoon tea, far more than we eat. The children had their own platters which made them feel very special. We applaud your venture, it thoroughly deserves to succeed. We will be back.

My Partner; Linda and I visited this wonderful Café this afternoon following a short walk down the country lane. We are re-locating nearby and visiting various places to get a jist of what it will be like living in this area.

Visited Leger Lakes with a friend on a bitterly cold winter morning last week and was suitably impressed. Great decor i.e. lots of wood, mismatched china etc. All of the impressive display of cakes and pastries was home made and all looked yummy. I had an enormous breakfast bap which was absolutely packed with bacon and sausages and my friend got sausage roll which got full marks. Coffee was exactly as I had requested (an extra shot) and the tea for one was happily supplied with an extra jug of hot water for my weak tea loving friend (tea weak, friend not weak just to be clear). Lots of dogs complete with their walkers were welcome and the general atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I would have rated "excellent" had it not been for the fact that it was a bit on the chilly side but, having said that, it was a perishing morning and slightly chilly is preferable to too hot. I will visit again as a walk around the lake followed by coffee etc. on the lovely terrace is certainly in order. I recommend.

My second visit and can't agree with the complainers. Food is cooked from scratch, not just nuked from frozen and its beautifully plated. The choice of coffees is great, open Sundays, dog friendly (so was the cat) wheelchair accessible great for stopping in when on a walk for a bite to eat or a great ice cream. My one complaint: I'm not supposed to eat cake or ice cream but the temptation to sample the incredible high sponge cakes of all flavours or the ice creams and sundaes is very, very great, I will probably get a slice to take away next time. At least this time the rescued geese didn't surround my car when I wanted to leave, and the donkeys and llama were braving the sleet and wind. Avery Happy Meal, thank you

Been twice and would highly recommend, the service was excellent, warm and friendly atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble . First visit I had the breakfast which was beautifully cooked and well presented. Second time went with my elderly mother for coffee and the home made cakes , she absolutely loved it , the cakes are divine and again beautifully displayed and presented. Well worth the drive out there folks , you won’t be disappointed.

Great food and better cakes. Never been let down on the service and the location is out of the way enough that people at work can't find me on my lunch break but I can still make it back in time.

My fishing mate and myself have been visiting this venue more or less from when it opened at Easter and have always had a good days fishing ,starting of with one of their great breakfasts or if we go on a Saturday we have a "Fisherman's Sandwich". Wow ! and fishing ticket for £9 (don't know if this offers still on) then onto a good days fishing and depending which lake you fish youcan catch a variety of fish ...still in its first year and have no trouble recommending this venue..never tried the afternoon teas or lunches but they look terrific.nice friendly staff always ready for a chat ..give it a go

We visited on Saturday 2nd September but have also been several times previously. Home-baked cakes are always fabulous, coffee is very nice and staff are friendly and welcoming. So lovely to have a local place we can visit while out on a walk or cycle. It says 'dogs welcome' on the door, but they also welcome horses as we took ours there on Saturday while out for a hack. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the time put into the home baking. Good place to meet with friends and take children as you can sit outside on nice days and watch the rescued animals grazing happily in the paddocks. Looking forward to many more visits, thank you.

Really good food at even better prices. The interior is cosy, clean and stylishly modern. The wait for food was one of the quickest I've had at a café. Overall would highly recommend and have myself been multiple times now.

Visited today for afternoon tea, part of my birthday present. Easy to find location with sat nav! Mid town with own car park, validation required at reception. Greated by Amanda who was very welcoming and friendly. Shown to our table right under the heater which was perfect for me! Amanda bought out our stand of food which looked amazing then a separate plate of samwhiches! Great choices for both of us. Lovely selection of other savouries along with cakes and scones. We couldn't manage it all or the prosecco so we're given a container to bring the food home. Mini bottles of prosecco were not open so easy to pop in bag. Food menu looked great and so did the Sunday roast! Will definitely be back again. Thanks again Amanda!
