If you're looking for a cozy spot to relax, catch up with friends, and enjoy a nice breakfast, this is definitely NOT the place for you. The entire space is crowded with people on their laptops (and not drink or food on the tables), making it impossible to find a seat. It feels more like a workspace than a coffee place . What a letdown—I was so excited to show my friends what I thought was my favorite French-style spot, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Thankfully, there are plenty of other great coffee places nearby.

I bought cheese from this stall a few times now: the quality is OUTSTANDING. I love cheese and their selection is a dream come true, it is difficult to pick a favourite as everything is so delicious and full of flavour. The prices are very reasonable and the young man in charge of the stall is knowledgable, attentive and charming. Cannot get enough of their cheese, will be back again and again and again..

This place used to be great. Now it's really crowded, waiting times are ridiculous and the staff is rude. I paid £5.5 for a dead sandwich with a slice of cheese and two leaves. This is always toasted and when they gave it to me cold they just said the toaster is broken. I said they should have told me when I ordered and the waitress just rolled her eyes and turned around.

What a shame, this place used to be friendly. I guess they’re making enough money now to be able to be rude to people who’ve been coming for over 10 years. I arrived 10 minutes before they opened (even though all the doors were open) and instead of being able to wait quietly on the bench in the warm they made me go out into the cold. Needless to say I won’t be back. Shame on you if you can’t let a customer wait 10 minutes in the warm. I sincerely hope you’re pushed out of Broadway market soon to make way for someone better. I’ll also be tweeting this

My wife and I stumbled on this gem of a French cafe/deli in Broadway Market. After a perfect flat white for me and cappuccino (with oat milk - other options available) for her we tucked into smoked salmon and avocado on toast, served with a salad of baby leaves and seeds - all superbly healthy! With lots of different breakfast baps, sandwiches and pastries the menu had something for everyone. A great ‘rustic’ decor, friendly staff and service at a nice pace - what more could you ask for?

How many hipsters does it take to deliver a sandwich? It very much depends on who's hogging the anarcho-vegan collective brain cell, it seems. Shortly after placing an order for a lunchtime luxury I can't really afford - a Hackney sandwich - the artier-than-thou waitress drifted around the cafe with impressionistic calls to no one. The vastly marked-up item was then mindlessly abandoned to congeal horribly on a ledge, presumably to punish the wrongly-named customer for not being called what she thought they were. Rather than simply ask the cafe, 'did anyone order -', this place rises above such vulgar, commonsensical solutions to really very straightforward problems, because lunchtime customers here are never in a rush, perhaps because they aren't as a rule, strictly speaking, employed. When I tried to hurry things along and the mystery was solved, the waitress loftily managed to sneer a 'sorry' as if only I were to blame. This is a seriously pretentious cafe which charges far too much to offer service this bad.

I like dry cappuccinos. Most places know what this is. It means much less milk and far more steamed, creamy foam. What I hate is sloppy, milky cappuccinos where I can no longer taste the roast of the coffee.Even though L'eau a la bouche is a great cafe from all other standpoints. I have to deduct serious points for their consistent failure to be able to make a good dry cappuccino. There's no excuse. If you dont know how to foam milk then dont get a job as a barista - its that simple.

We certainly were surprised of the quantities, we could barely could eat half of everything we ordered. I had the Vegetarian Goddess Quiche with some salad and we shared a spinach flat bread. Everything was great except what was one of the worst Falafel I've ever had - so dry and tasteless. So stay away from it!The place also has a small shop and catering service with a range of Bio and international products. Ate here with our daughter on a Sunday a little after lunchtime. Broadway Market area has been gentrified and wonder hope the longer standing residents feel about what has happened to their area.. That said we enjoyed our visit to L'eau a la bouche. It is quite cramped inside and we sat at the long communal table after a short wait for a seat. I had the 'La Bouche' consisting of smoked salmon, hard boiled egg, leaves and nuts and the most delicious seeded rye bread recommended by the staff. Wife had a tasty croque monsieur and daughter had the Iberique [Serrano ham, sun dried tomato and emmental] - all choices were tasty, good sized portions and the accompanying hot drinks were good portions and tasty. They had nice looking cakes on display too but we were all too full to partake of dessert. For 3 people bill came to about £10 a head.Service was friendly if a little haphazard (they deliver the dishes by calling out your name and as there were 2 Nicks in the restaurant this had potential to confuse!] La Bouche also sells a wide variety of 'refined' items such as wines, organic fruit and veg, Italian pasta, truffle sauces, chocolate etc. All of these were quite expensive.Would definitely return

So, the range of sandwiches on offer are really good here. And the coffee is good too, and not served in stupidly small cups either. On a weekday it's a pretty nice place to be, particularly sitting by the window. However, at the weekend you're unlikely to ever find a space at lunchtime, and outside (on whatever day of the week you go) unfortunately tends to attract homeless people, who either come and sit down next to you, or walk past and beg you for money. Yes, I know this is a middle class problem, but unfortunately most people, being honest, don't want to take their friends to a place where you're sat next to a tramp. The staff do absolutely nothing about this either. I know they can't do much about beggars walking past, but they can be stricter on moving them on if they sit down at the outside tables. It's for that reason I now tend not to visit this place much.

Having visiting this place on a few occasions, my most recent trip has left me pretty disappointed. Service is generally quite laid back. Today, when I popped in to pick up some warm milk and biscuits for my son before picking him up from nursery, the server looked at me as if my request was quite outlandish 'that's it?!' He asked me. Yes. Warm milk, how crazy! He didn't mention a wait, and the cafe looked relatively quiet at 3:30, so I didn't expect one. After having waited for over 10 minutes, I walked over to the server to ask about the delay 'there a queue' he told me pointedly and walked off before I could respond. This is a local for me but I'm often put off by the crowds of people sitting inside and outside the restaurant. I visited once on a very early weekday morning for a coffee and a pastry (which was delicious) and found the interior intriguing. Lovely wooden benches and a good view of Broadway market. The menu looked impressive and so I decided to visit again in December. The place was heaving with people as usual, but I guess that's a pretty good sign right! Like so many we hadn't dined out in a long time and my clever husband suggested to sulky me a mid-week local pick-us-up treat. I can only say wow. We loved Ceres when we last visited in 2019 but the tasting menu tonight with matched wines was out of this world and a steal at the price. Deservedly Michelin-recognised cuisine with such a friendly and professional face (just two young women currently run the whole outfit including single handedly chef-ing and wonderful front of house). Ceres is walking distance for us and we are grateful because it is a destination-grade restaurant. Fine dining for £48pp.
