Leaf Tea Shop and Bar in Wirral

What a shame about the awfully slow service. There were lots of staff, as you'd expect on a Sunday lunchtime, and not many customers, so I guess the delays are caused by the kitchen. We arrived at 1:00 and ordered drinks, then ordered our food at about 1:15 and it began to arrive at 2:00. It was nice enough for the price, but it arrived so late, and at different times for different dishes.

Fantastic tea menu. Ordered the cherry Bakewell flavour but couldn’t tell it was cherry Bakewell…but still nice! Delicious and wholesome soup. Warm interior.

Quite expensive for the size of the breakfast had better

Went for a relaxed Saturday evening meal. Love being able to book online and take both baby in a pram & dog. Dog bed provided too! Also a car park is a bonus. Service was fast and friendly. Enjoyed the food, wine, beer and tea choices. Would go back.

Just popped in for tea and cake… lemon drizzle was lovely tried the truffle latte can’t eating to go back again want to try the Breakfast/brunch options

Pretty terrible. Came for a late lunch so it wasn’t that busy but took over an hour for our food to come out. Steak ciabatta was chewy and the steak and eggs was overcooked and burnt toast. Won’t be coming again any time soon.

Lovely new menu at Leaf West Kirby. Fish and chips now on the menu as well as Katsu Curry! See menu pictures. As always excellent food and service. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Visited with family at lunchtime today...to celebrate our granddaughters birthday . Beautiful venue...great service and a comprehensive menu for food and drink. Food was delicious and plenty of it. The waitress even brought a slice of cake complete with a candle for an 8 year old to enjoy and remember. Never visited before but can't wait to return. Well done Leaf

We had an early lunch, I went with the Scouse fugured I would try a local delicacy it was delicious.

Lovely venue, friendly team and fabulous food. If there for brunch I recommend the eggs royale.

So sad to see this place go down hill. We went in on a whim this evening (Saturday) and expected it to be busy. It was very very quiet so getting a table for 4 wasn't an issue. When seated we were told that a few dishes were not available. No problem with that Generally but at 5pm I was a little surprised. We waited longer than normal to get a drink order even though it was over half empty but the extra time meant we were ready to order food straight away too. We ordered the mezze sharing starter which was nice. Our daughter ordered one small plate and chunky chips for a main. The rest of the order was a salad, pie and chips and chicken burger. When they arrived we were told the fryer was broken and they would try to bring the missing chips later. I had the pie and they had placed a small amount of chips on the plate but the other chips were missing off the order... sh*t happens I suppose but the chips I received weren't cooked so I guess the chef took a gamble before declaring the fryer was in fact broken and nobody else would receive any fried food. At this point I'm hoping my son's chicken burger wasn't in that fryer too! We live local and weve visited this restaurant a lot over the past few years but I don't think we'll be back any time soon. On top of today's fiasco I noticed the menu is smaller (often the sign of a struggling restaurant but not always) with a lot of the best dishes removed such as the amazing sea bass they used to do. The wine list is also depleted with a much smaller choice and the best red only described as Primitivo being one you can buy from Majestic up the road for £11.99 and they sold for £35... 200% mark up is a little excessive especially as it's not amazing wine either. It's a real shame to leave a review like this for a business local to us and one we've used many times before but I always leave honest reviews so there it is :-(

Roast dinner not nice. Soggy roasties, definitely microwaved heated up.

Pretty good food. A bit messy with delivery. Sometimes wrong order to wrong person. No napkins (had to ask for them), no spoons for coffee/tea. All in all, I would definitely consider having lunch there again.

Great place to eat it’s slightly out of the way to other places to drink. Beer garden is great and a good place for the children to play as well and be safe.

Arrived and shown to our table promptly. A trainee under supervision took our order. We all had the grand English breakfast. The restaurant was quite busy but the order still arrived in good time. I was missing the toast on my breakfast but once I made them aware the toast arrived very quickly. Nice hot breakfasts cooked really well and thoroughly enjoyed by the three of us. Would definitely recommend but booking your table is the best, especially weekends. Our server was Louise!

Stunning open-plan venue with unique features. The best veggie breakfast I have ever had, I was full all day. Only issue was my son's food was delivered 10 minutes after mine and no-one wants to put up with a hungry moaning child. That said the staff apologised. Really could be the best restaurant in Wirral!!!

Gorgeous food and plenty of outdoor space too for summer drinks!

We’ve always loved the food here and the location and beer garden but the service today was the second time we’ve had awful service in the last few weeks. I don’t think we’ll be visiting again sadly. Waited at our table for about 15 minutes then when no one took our order we waited at the bar for a further ten. No one made eye contact or acknowledged we were waiting during that time even though they were standing in front of us. When we were served the man was unfriendly and abrupt. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. We saw another group of three leave whilst we were there as they got tired of waiting and another person remarked to us that the server was having a bad day! Such a shame as it has such potential and the food, drinks and venue are really nice.

We sat down last night at 7.15 but waited until 7.40 before anyone came to take our drinks order - and that was after going to a table who only arrived 5 minutes prior before us! Ten minutes later we could see our drinks on the bar but 3 members of staff were standing talking at the bar instead of serving. Food was delivered by a lovely girl who was based at the good pass, but we had to ask for cutlery as none set out. No one asked if we needed another drink or anything, we had to ask the same girl for more drinks. She apologised and said they were 3 staff short that night, but to be fair that’s not our problem. We have had the exact same issue at Leaf before with poor service, and each time say we won’t go again. We really enjoy the food and atmosphere so always give it another go. I think that was the last time, sadly.

Upper floor is for private events. The lower bar is large and well stocked. Will use it again if I get the chance.

We are regulars for weekend breakfast (and sometimes a cheeky weekday one too 😉). Just love coming here. The atmosphere is chilled vibes indoors and outdoors too if you’re lucky enough with the weather to be able to sit in the garden. Our dog is made very welcome and always orders poached eggs, which she tells me are delicious 😂. Lovely staff too. It’s a proper treat to come.

Quick service. Food was brilliant, but portions were smaller than expected. Good range of drinks and teas. Accessible for those with mobility problems including wheelchairs.

I come here whenever I'm in town to meet friends or have an outing with family - it's one of the absolute staples in West Kirby for good food, an excellent tea/drinks selection and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are truly outstanding, always friendly and attentive - Bradley was our server on a recent Friday evening visit and did a flawless job. I tried the victoria sponge tea latte and enjoyed it so much I had another one when I came the next day!

Disappointing goan curry, vegetables mushy and unable to distinguish what they were as not listed on the menu. Poppadoms were greasy. Everything served in a bowl which in all honesty looked unappetising. A shame because on previous visits have been very satisfied with the food.

Nice looking place, but not the best burger I have ever had, and over 1 hour 45 min wait for our food, don't think I will be going back anytime soon...

Certain beverages and food stuffs had ran out , the pricing is well over the top for what you get to eat but quiz on Tuesday is fun .

Food was nice but there lack of 'ingredients' for cocktails and staff did not tell you of 'swaps' until the taste was quired.

Mum and I went for a late lunch/early dinner. We were seated in one of the comfy booths. The food was delicious, enjoyed the range of teas and the dessert was so good! Brad was very friendly and attentive, lovely service and vibes:)

Went for New Year’s Eve dinner! Lovely atmosphere and vibe with Live music and magician showing some tricks! Ordered loads of nibbles and small plates , food was decent and they have a good variety! Greek salad was really good!

Morning business meeting in upstairs room - ideal for such an event. Excellent coffee.

Took my mum for birthday lunch. We didn't have a booking, but they welcomed us and made her feel special. It's a really big space with lots of different nooks and bits to sit in, all different. Coffee and food was great. We had cheese and onion pie and chips and the Goan veg curry - both were super tasty. I'll definitely go back and will be recommending friends and family try it too.

Attended Leaf 20.01.23 for breakfast. Hadn't booked a table and we were shown to an area which had many families with young children (we were a party of adults only). Drinks took a long time arrive. Food was well presented on arrival and poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Sourdough toast was burnt. Leaf is a very well appointed venue but it felt like I was eating in a children's creche. Screaming children and little ones running round tables. Would not be my choice for morning/early afternoon dining.

Service was fantastic but the food quality did not match the price and drinks were very expensive too.

Came here as it's closer to home and really enjoyed the brunch in the Liverpool Leaf last month. We liked it better as it was a bit quieter and had less of the "warehouse acoustics." Staff did an excellent job of "managing expectations" (coffee wait: 15 minutes, food: 30, no big deal). Food was very good - eggs Benedict for me, smaller full English for partner). Very clear tipping policy (the staff get it all whether card or cash). Would certainly return.

Vegetarian full English breakfast 10/10!

We'd booked for Sunday lunch yesterday and were told it would be a 30/40 minute wait for food but as my son had a train to catch, the staff arranged with the kitchen for our orders to be taken immedatiately and we were served with beautifully cooked breakfast items within a few minutes. The service given at such a busy time by Abby and Lynsey and the kitchen staff was exceptional and very much appreciated and my son was able to catch his train in good time well fed!

This is a very large venue , that’s been many different restaurants over the years. It’s I’m sure difficult to generate a cozy atmosphere on a early evening Tuesday with so few guests dining, that said the service was attentive and the food was good..

Unfortunately we where put on an awful table tucked into a corner...loads of free tables around ..also we where put right next to a rude couple who where constantly snogging each others faces off .. embarrassing...no cutlery when the food was presented to us so my wife wandered off to sort out the situation..when the table next to us was eventually vacated for the remainder of our meal we had to look at a blue kitchen roll and a bottle of cleaner ...not a particularly pleasent way to spend a Sunday evening.

I didn’t know what raw black pudding tasted like until today. Unsurprisingly it’s not great. Unfortunately when it’s eaten raw it’s quite clear how “past its best” the food is. As we live right next to this place I’ve given this restaurant so many chances since it opened but it always seems like the staff are struggling to cope and the quality of the food is honestly really poor. From day one we’ve repeatedly whole meals refunded at the insistence of embarrassed staff for insanely long wait times and I can’t believe it’s still consistently this poor years on. No attempt to even comp the raw meal I was served and we had to wait for ages to even get the cheque. The initial service we received for drinks was great but the sections are completely understaffed. I’ve worked in management as a chef for over a decade and if raw food is being missed on service then there’s systemic issues in the kitchen and this is the tip of the iceberg. Yum.

Fabulous lunch here with friends this afternoon. I had the stacked thighs which were absolutely delicious, piping hot and melted in your mouth! Friends enjoyed their chicken sandwiches and hubby had the burger! Great choices of food, friendly customer service and overall a fab experience!

Went here with family friends and our dog. Food was really nice the service was very good attentive but not too much. The only negative thing was when we left there was no lighting going to the Carpark. Fortunately we gD our phones to use the torch.

Went for a meet up with my son....ordered poached eggs on granary bread.....have to say a bit bland and the eggs....well decency won't allow me to say what they looked like.... Had a flat white which was served in a glass!.... no handle. A hot drink in a glass....won't be going again sadly

What would have been a really lovely meal was spoilt by being cold . Minimal veg. Also, bingo night on a Thursday. In a restaurant!! Very loud! A shame. Lovely venue otherwise

Like this place. Nice atmosphere, good service, nice menu but considering eggs feature heavily on the menu they are always cold!. I've told the management, I've sent back food and told them it's cold but nobody is listening. Such a shame as it's the one thing that is spoiling an otherwise fab place. Listen to your customers. I'm not the only one complaining!

Super good food, quite a bit of a wait due to a baby showever but they did offer free drinks and gave use 50% off out meal.

Such a gorgeous space and the cinnamon toast is an absolute MUST HAVE dish.

Went for a cup of tea whilst doing some work. Lovely choice of teas. They found me a table with sockets which was great.

Had a late lunch with family. Nice choice of meals. Our group had the steak pie, beef, salt and pepper chicken burger and a children’s sausage and chips. Food was very tasty. The beef just melted in your mouth. We also managed a pudding each which were delicious. Friendly staff and great section for children to play and a small cinema which my granddaughter loved. Highly recommend.

Diabolical service and very disappointing. Waited for menu and asked the bar if we could place an order? We were told someone would be with us, but after waiting for over 10 minutes trying to catch the attention of one of the 4 waitresses walking past our table without any joy, we walked out. I understand they had a large table in but as we arrived the table was leaving.

Poor experience at the West kirkby site yesterday, order came out wrong several times, in the end we just asked them to take it away and we paid for the coffees and left, been going to leaf for years on Bold street and Smithdown road, it has always been a fantastic experience but I was really disappointed with the service yesterday, they apologised for the mistakes but kept bringing out the wrong food.

Food was lovely only complaint was we ordered 2 childs meals only one came out the other about 10 mins later which with young children is a no no . And they get a desert with childrens meals only 1 came out again other one 10 mins later wouldnt mind if they were diff but they wernt ??

The salad ordered was basically a bowl of couscous. Which everyone left as it was a just a massive amount of couscous. The staff are lovely but the service was dreadful. Not sure if this is down to a lack of staff or a lack of enthusiasm.

We had a lovely meal with family who were visiting. The menu was great, lots of variety and choice for everyone. Our little dog had a huge fuss made of him too. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Great outdoor space but advertised Sunday lunch didn't start till way after 3pm and only 1 choice as the other was cancelled. Enjoyed my choice off main menu though but disappointed about the roast!!

Bossy waiter who seemed put out when I asked him anything. Food was very middle of the road and the drinks menu is super expensive considering.
