Le Spice Indian Restaurant And takeaway in East Cambridgeshire

We ordered a delivery so didn't sit to eat in the restaurant. Chicken tikka masala was pale and bland, very disappointed as its a main dish, but, the peshwari naan was fantastic! The vindaloo was very good, rice was standard. Meat samosas were tiny! I think overall not the worst, but very much could have been better for the price we paid for sure.

We had an amazing meal here with family. The food was incredible, with every course being perfect. The atmosphere was very nice too, as it was buzzy inside. The service was brilliant as well, as the staff took the time to chat with us. We had a lovely conversation with the owner, which was a really nice touch. We will 100% be returning as this was one of the best restaurants we have been to in Ely.

We made a booking and arrived to find the place booked out. It took 10 minites for someone to speak to us, including the waiter ignoring us to take someone's takeaway order and talking over my shoulder to someone else who made a reservation. Another group wanted to check their booking which was 30 mins after ours and were told they would probably be waiting too! Dunno why we bothered booking

Service was ok, but food was pretty poor. Not sure exactly when my tandoori mixed grill was first cooked, but not recently. Dry, dull. See response below. I know tandoori doesn't have sauce, but cooked meat should not be dry. Properly and freshly grilled meat shoud retain some moisture. TBF we were surprised to see tandoori grill served on a plate, rather than still cooking on an iron skillet.

I had a sea bass curry, absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party was really impressed with the quality of food and service. We will definitely be back next time we visit Ely. O

Food was good. Not the best ever but nothing to complain about. Service good. Not flawless but again nothing to really complain about. They were extremely busy, with people waiting inside and outside, people being turned down (we booked in advance and were offered one specific time only) so at times it was amusing watching all that commotion. Although getting flustered at times, they tried to accommodate as many as it was possible and offer everyone decent service.

One of the best Indian meals ever. I had Chicken dupiaza and husband had Le Spice Special- both tender, tasty and well presented.

Order took 2 and a half hours to arrive and an hour late from estimated time. When we phoned the restaurant they would not tell us when the order would arrive but they kept saying it had left the restaurant 25 minutes ago - it then took another 15 minutes to arrive and the food was cold. Such a shame because the food was really tasty and would have been more so if we didn’t have to microwave it!

We always receive a warm and friendly welcome at Le Spice where we think you'll truly get the best and most authentic Indian cuisine in Ely. Forget the rest Le Spice is still the best. Highly recommended.

I would say the food was average with few of the dishes served in inappropriate gravy. The cutlery were not washed properly with leftover stains, really turned my mood off. I expected the food to be better bearing in mind the price. Service needs to improve and I was disappointed with the overall experience. I ordered lamb shanks which says 'Marinated lamb shank, slow cooked in a tomato and onion sauce. So soft, it falls off the bone!', however the gravy had a lot of split chickpeas and the taste was dominantly of dal gosht. That is what i mean by inappropriate gravy. It was not mentioned in the menu as I have picked up the line from menu only that defines the dish without any mentioning of the chickpeas. I did raise it yesterday while i was dining including the issue of hygiene with cutlery (which was changed subsequently). I have shared my review so that it can bring betterment in the service, not to offend anyone. Thank you.

Went here with a friend recently and we were pretty disappointed. Put simply, the food is bland. If it was just not very spicy, we'd say "eh, it's in a small British town, fits the local clientele" and just ask for spicier next time. However, it was just lacking taste altogether, and we could say that of all the dishes we ordered (we ordered 3 each). Both me and my friend agreed on this. The lassi's were large, which is good, but they were a little too sweet. You could actually feel the sugar grains crunching in your mouth as you drank it. Pricing was a little on the expensive side but not too bad all things considered. Budget around £25 per adult. Service and atmosphere were pretty standard, nothing to write home about but to me that's not super important. Haven't tried the other Indian places around Ely yet, might update this review if I find better. UPDATE: Came back here and asked for spicy, which resulted in a better meal, but not significantly better. It at least bumped it up from 2 to 3 stars. I've now also tried another Indian restaurant in Ely and it wasn't any better. You're actually probably better off with this one.

Great food. Friendly service. A little cramped for me, but don't let that put you off.

Ordered a takeaway to littleport at 6.20,website said 50 minutes for delivery. After 4 phone calls and 3 different excuses it turned up 2hrs later and cold, the driver thought it was funny and tried to leave it, needless to say he took it back and after speaking to the restaurant again I was told the driver left the restaurant ages ago so they didn't know where he had been. It was my first time using this restaurant and also my last. My advice is if you live outside of Ely don't get it delivered.

We had an amazing meal tonight at Le Spice. Greeted by Amin and a couple of really attentive staff. We had the mixed starter, was really well presented and tasted amazing. I had an amazing curry and special fried rice and my hubby tried the korai on the recommendation of Amin. Loved our meals and ended up bringing the peshwari naans home as our bellies were so full. Highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks Amin and team for another tasty meal.

I have been coming here from the U.S. for a good many years. This is a great restaurant with many food options, and the staff is superb. I love the chicken vindaloo currey with basmati rice. My wife enjoys the tandoori chicken.. The plain naan is excellent. I recommend it highly.

All I can say is...delicious. Delicious food in great company, fantastic host who listens to you and makes recommendations accordingly. Friendly co-hosts too. I recommend my fellow citizens in Bruges to end their visit to Ely here!

If you are looking for authentic Indian food, this is unfortunately not your choice. The food is okay but not the typical Indian flavor.

Had the lamb Tikka Masala and the lamb Kurma, plus a cheese naan. Both were delicious, as they have been for over a decade. However, they did not come with rice, which would have been nice for a little pop up message to mention when ordering online. I would have bought some if I’d realized, but I’ve not eaten here since 2015, so I didn’t remember. Still amazing and good portions!!

Good is nice, the chicken isn't so great had no taste didn't taste great, being a food critic I would avoid. Look at my food reviews you know why I gave bad reviews if you were good I wouldn't of marked you down.

Fab staff, fab food, tasty beer. Bombay Bicycle Club beer is delicious. Their Lime Pickle is great.

The best curry I have had for a long time! Everything was freshly cooked to order and all the ingredients were top quality. I really enjoyed the button mushroom rice and the coriander nan. Excellent menu with all the usual. I intolerant to gluten and the staff were really attentive. I had the onion bhaji followed by chicken dhansak. The food was nice without being exceptional. Good value.

We had heard good things about this restaurant so decided to place an order for delivery, we chose a slot at 8.30/8.45 allowing for my partner to be home… it turned up at 6.30 pm, I called and they kindly offered a re delivery at the correct time, it arrived at the correct time, we returned the first meal to the delivery driver and dished up our new meal it was stone cold not a good first experience needless to say we will no be a return customer

First time visiting this place and WOW is all I can say, From the moment you enter the premises you are greeted with a warm smile and polite welcome. We got seated and drinks ordered straight away. The food was promptly ordered and served within 30 minutes nice and hot and absolutely delicious. Fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended, we plan to visit again in few weeks on our next visit to Ely.

By far the best Indian in Ely and I’ve tried them all and there is no comparison. Originally from London and I’ve eaten in many Indian Restaurants over the years, all over the country and this place is right up there. The owner is attentive, clearly excels in customer service and the food is always great. You definitely get service with a smile, when you walk in, that lovely Indian aroma hits you, followed by a warm smile and a non rushed evening of food drinks and atmosphere. So many have tried and failed but this place for me, is a winning combination :)

My friend and I visited on a Friday evening. We were given the warmest of welcomes by all the staff, were seated in a lovely position and served drinks straight away. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was brought out in great time. The meal was divine and the restaurant is beautiful. It was simply an all-round enjoyable evening out and we'll be returning very soon with more of our friends. I highly recommend for a truly authentic Indian experience.

How have we never tried Le Spice before today. What a Fab-u-lous find, the food is to die for. I has Salee Lamb, wow, the flavours were amazing and hit every taste bud in my mouth. Hubby had Chicken Madras, it too was extremely tasty, hot, but not burn your mouth hot, and flavours oozed. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive, they made you feel wanted and not just number. A rare find. We will be back.

By far the worst takeaway in 40 odd years. Food was cold and looked like meat and oil, and the tarka daal consisted of what appeared to be oil, under cooked lentils and the tastes of burnt slurry. Sick of restaurants living on past reputation and fake reviews, then giving a really poor product. Won't ever be back, especially when they charge £65 for the 'service'

The food and service here are truly outstanding, making it one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The prices are quite reasonable considering the use of fresh, healthy ingredients in every dish. It's advisable to make reservations in advance, especially on Tuesdays and weekends, as this restaurant is among the most sought-after in Ely.

The food was exceptional, and the staff were extremely welcoming. We started with poppadoms, which came with a delightful array of dips. During a conversation with our waiter, we discussed the contrast between the Dhansak curry I usually have near my home and the one served here (definitely better here!). The onion rice was particularly delicious, featuring a combination of thinly sliced sautéed and fried onions. The Dhansak itself boasted a wonderful blend of flavors, with just the right amount of heat, tanginess, and sweetness. Later, I had a pleasant discussion with the owner, who clearly has a passion for his cuisine and ensuring his customers leave satisfied.

Tonight, my husband and I enjoyed a fantastic meal. The team at Le Spice Special really impressed us with their hospitality. We indulged in a scrumptious banquet and couldn't be more grateful. Many thanks for such a wonderful experience.....

Recently, I dined with my two daughters at Le Spice and found the meal to be absolutely delightful. The food showcased authentic flavors, and the staff were very welcoming. We're already looking forward to returning soon for another enjoyable experience.

A meal in Le Spice is a real treat. It’s the best curry restaurant in Ely and surrounding area. So it was a real shame to receive such a disappointing delivery. Food cold. Curry container felt strangely light and was at best 1/3 full. Will eat at the restaurant next time.

Nice place.. friendly service.. Only one issue.. 4 of us eating and not one of us thought the food had any flavour.. completely bland. My prawn balti had no heat at all and no flavour So very disappointed. I won't be going back and won't recommend to anyone

Bought a curry online, to be ready at a certain time. Not only was it only half a curry, it was clearly made there and then and left to go cold.

Lovely dinner as usual, I have no problems recommending The chicken tikka malaya was especially nice (as I love the pineapple pieces!)

An absolute gem, the best Indian not only in Ely - but also the best we have had in a while. There is so much flavour and even the vegetarian dishes have lovely spice and flavour (which is not always the case in all restaurants, I find.) The staff are all nice and kind, the atmosphere is pleasant. We have been on several occasions, both dine-in and takeaway/collection and have not been disappointed. Tonight we enjoyed the Tuesday special and got to have a ridiculous amount of delicious food for a very good price - well worth a visit!

Very disappointed, service time poor, couldn't understand why we didn't get offered poppadoms when others seemed to get them straight away, the vegetable platter starter was bland and floury. Lamb balti could have done with more sauce but ok. My chicken tikka biryani had absolutely no flavour at all, not the chicken or the vegetable curry. Had no one asking us how our meal was. Tables for two too close together, we could have joined in with our neighbours conversation quite happily.

Beautiful Indian food as always, have used this place for years before they started on here. Never had a bad curry. And I am half Asian, difficult to please but this is a great takeaway AND restaurant too! All fresh too 😁 this girl is happy 😂

Visiting Ely for a couple of days, ordered a takeaway. Super quick ,fab food ordered king prawn Biryani and lamb tikka balti. My husband said it was the best lamb he's had in ages.

Le Spice maintains high quality and the best Indian food around Cambridgeshire. Amin is a great host and the ambience is always welcoming. Delicious food with great hospitality. Highly recommended!

Staff were polite and helpful. The food was presented and of good quality. My only complaint was that my curry was rather dry with very little sauce. I mentioned this to a waiter, and a separate container of sauce was brought out of the kitchen.
