Le Bouchon Wine Bar in Lewisham

Décevant, accueil froid milieu d'après-midi. Nous avons pris à 4 une carafe de vin rouge, la serveuse ne nous a pas présenté la bouteille, elle a fait le transfert au bar sans que l'on sache si c'était bien le vin que nous avions commandé...Nous sommes répartis comme nous étions arrivés...

This is a nice wine bar & has a good range of cheeses but wine prices are astronomical. I recently ordered a small glass of pinot noire the small was very small indeed & the price an eye watering £10.20! For that price I can buy a full bottle of pinot noir from The Wine Society! the Hare & Billet just round the corner serves a delicious pinot noir at modest cost in its welcoming friendly bar.

We went for a family dinner for seven, including two children. Although the menu is limited, the food was incredible. There is no separate children’s menu, but half portions of most dishes, although with only duck or boeuf bourguignon for the main (and they don’t do half duck portions so it would need two kids to have the same). Starters were a mix between us of French onion soup, snails and a baked Camembert. Portion size was perfect as a starter. Mains were one duck and the rest boeuf bourguignon, which again were sensibly sized. Desserts were shared, but we tried the Tarte Tatum and the chocolate fondant, both of which were amazing? Wines were good and we left feeling suitably full but not bloated. A wonderful meal and an absolute gem of a restaurant.

Loved our evening here, as we always do. Great wine, even better staff. Having worked in the service industry for years (and hopefully being decent humans!) our only criticism is that the owners leave the team critically under staffed. They are working so unbelievably hard and shouldering the pressure from all the customers on a very busy evening. I hope the owners wise up before they lose great people and custom. Thanks to the great duo tonight!

I have visited Le Bar a Vin twice now and find it to be a lovely spot with a pleasant ambience. The staff are very accommodating and have been understanding when changes needed to be made to the booking. I would definitely recommend Le Bar a Vin for a date night or quiet drink with friends.

Excellent venue - have been coming here for the last 2 years since a change in ownership and it is always top notch -great selection of wines from a number of countries. The service is always exemplary and the recent introduction of various musical acts ( especially Ciro) has only improved the bar Thoroughly recommended !

Only wine bar in the village and sadly very dull with no atmosphere. No service with a smile - wine ok food awful really. Platter of meat not varied just dried up salami, cheese board flavourless - need new food suppliers.

Great place to enjoy a glass of wine. Prices range from 6.50 to 10£ for 175ml. A cosy place, would have given them 5 stars if they had dried Spanish meat, but they don’t offer that. Also portions of snacks are quite big, like the smallest platter of cheeses available are 3 cheeses for £12.50

Wonderful evening! Great atmosphere, quality wines, extensive choice of cheeses and very good service. Under new management and noticeable. Toilets are the cleanest I’ve seen! Definitely will be returning.

Such a lovely setting - although the lighting is intensely bright for the evening so doesn’t quite set the mood for peak wine drinking! As you can expect, lots of wines and cheeses available. However our server didn’t seem inclined to write down our order, and got the cheeses wrong. We then could find him to ask what we had, flagged down another server who admitted it was wrong - and then simply walked away. No apology or rectifying it. We found it comical but actually very off putting and I would rather not come again for the level of service we received.

It is our regular place, good in summer now with outdoor seatings and windows wide open. Pity that staff do not wear masks and talk over the food, so not really hygienic in this Covid situation. We would spend more money if they have varied and cooked food available but mostly nibbles that in fact we can get ourselves... It is a good business model without having to worry about food stock, as mostly they serve dry cut meat, cheeses and stews. As long as good selection of wine is available with good atmosphere, people would still come even if food is nothing notable.

We always enjoy our experience in Bar au Vin. Great wine selection and wonderful food. The girls are very friendly, Barbara, Aurelia and the new owner are always chatty and make our experience very pleasant. Great place to visit in Blackheath. Highly recommend it.

Great day out; I love cheese but I am an absolute sucker for snails and these were done to absolute perfection. The restaurant itself is rustic and the bathrooms are beautiful and very clean. They had a jazzband of 3 very talented young men playing which meant we ended up staying all day. 🙄🙄 Oh and the Pinot Noir is beautiful. Will definitely be back!

I have been a regular visitor to this bar for some years . It offers consistently good and welcoming service. The staff are always professional and very knowledgable in giving wine recommendations as it offers a wide selection of wines The food menu offers a great choice of French classics and the Cheese & Charcuterie boards are excellent , not only in high quality but quantity also The new owner has raised the level of excellence even higher by giving the bar a sutle makeover , paying particular attention to cleanliness and adding live jazz music sessions monthly Actions speak louder that words : this place is always busy with a lovely vibe . I have visited Le Bar A Vin a few times since lockdown restrictions and each visit has been great! The Beef bourguignon was delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great tapas menu too with great wine. I attended with friends but would highly recommend here for all occasions. Nice Classy wine bar

Oh dear. We were loyal customers of Le Bouchon, its predecessor owned by Jean-Philippe. Sadly, the new owners have let things slide and it’s lost its spark. Beef bourguignon was tough and disappointing. None of the staff were wearing face coverings either.

Visited "Le Bouchon" a few times and always enjoyed it so much so I was worried when I turned up and discovered it had changed name for "Le Bar A Vin"; but thank god the place is exactly the same as before. We had lovely Pino Noir with a plate of cheese and "cafe gourmand" to finish (like in Paris!) - superb! Service was great as well. I highly recommend this place.

Have been here before when it was Le Bouchon and previously staff have seemed attentive. Today there were two waitresses who offered no apology or asked if I was okay. It was two customers who came to help me up after my heel got caught on the tape across the front step and I fell really hard on my elbow and knee. It's a strip of dirty old hazard tape under the front door curling up on the left side. There is a mind your step notice on the inside but not on the outside. It's clear that the owners know the step is a hazard and could do more to ensure customers are safe and enjoy their visit. We ended up not staying very long and certainly not ordering any food after that.

What a little find this place was! A couple of seats outside, a bottle of champagne and camembert; just perfect in the October sun. Good service. The food was delicious, I also had the duck which I have to admit I thought was going to come as a cassoulet but it is literally the duck leg and a side salad but it was delicious. Ended up having the chocolate fiondant dessert as well which was fantastic!It was empty inside so I couldn’t get a sense of atmosphere in there. A shared starter, two courses each and the champagne came to just under £100 including service.

It was a humid early Sunday evening. We were in the lovely Blackheath area and were drawn to Le Bouchon as had open windows and door. We sat at a table by the open window and had a very relaxed meal of a sharing Camembert, duck confit and chicken casserole. All very reasonably priced.A good rustic French meal with a decent bottle of wine. We shall return when we next revisit the area.

We went here for drinks before going on to dinner, hadn’t booked a table but luckily they had one spare (but would recommend booking as 20 minutes later they were fully booked). Nice atmosphere, good wines, have been here before and would definitely go back.

Saturday afternoon is quiet but as a result the perfect place to unwind from the stresses of life with good quality wine and an excellent selection of Cheese and meat to nibble on. Service is friendly and non intrusive - just what the doctor ordered. As a woman dining alone this was a great experience.

A faire pour les amateurs de fromage. Nous avons pris un plateau de fromage-charcuterie à partager, et j’ai également pris la soupe à l’oignon qui était super. Tout était très bon, et pour un prix raisonnable. L’endroit est très chaleureux et il n’y a pas beaucoup de tables, il vaut mieux réserver à l’avance. Je recommande !

Fui con 4 amigos un viernes por la noche. Reservé una mesa por delante que era necesaria ya que el lugar estaba ocupado. Pedimos un champagne y un par de vinos rosados. Todos fueron geniales. También pedimos unos cuantos aperitivos y comida los cortes de carne, quesos pan eran excelentes. También probamos el pato que fue bien abajo.

I came here with a mate and ordered a carafe of wine and some ham and cheese. It was lovely. My only gripe is that service can be hit and miss. There was a new member of staff and unfortunately they struggled to understand a basic order which isn't really great for customer service. I think they could do better in this area.

Second visit in a week. The staff are all french and very welcoming. Food is great quality. 3 mains available. My husband raved about the duck confit. I had a platter of cold meats and cheese which was well presented and delicious. We also had a bottle of crozes hermitage which was £40 but fairly priced and very good. Definitely we will be back soon

We loved how cosy the bar was and coupled with an amazing singer and guitar player. It just has a nice feel about it and would happily go again.

First time here, good atmosphere downstairs but upstairs need redecorating more in line with what’s going on downstairs, wasn’t very inviting at all. All tables downstairs were booked, many of them late bookings, so seems silly they don’t place the early bookings on those tables especially when they are going to be empty for 2 hours rather than putting them upstairs. They let us sit downstairs with a view to move but two tables didn’t turn up! I think they would do better with a first come first served basis or credit card reservations only to stop this.

Lovely place to go for lunch with friends or a meal in the evening. It's also good to drop in for a glass of wine too! The selection of wines is excellent. Not great for gluten free.

I chose Le Bouchon because I enjoy the bistro standards, onion soup and Bouef Bourgignon. Both dishes were very good and went well with a Merlot/Cabernet Franc. Service was fast and friendly. Thoughtfully designed interior, rather than French bric a brac. We'll go again.

I have often been in Le Bouchon over the years and it’s been a lovely place to have a drink. However, tonight I popped in with a friend and I was told we couldn’t be served at 10.40pm even though it was open until 11pm and it was a most uncomfortable experience. On the website the bar indicates it is open until 11.30pm on a Sunday, which obviously needs to be changed as it is misleading. I was really disappointed in the rudeness of the staff and will no longer be recommending this bar to others or revisrinh.

We do go to this wine bar fairly frequently and enjoy the atmosphere, the ability to sit out doors on the pavement, the wine and the charcuterie and cheese selection. Tonight however the bread that arrived with our food was really stale and my wife had to go in doors to ask for some that was fresh. This was done with good grace and it once - in less time in fact that it would take you and I to cut it. When we asked the waiter why the new bread was also stale he said that the bread had been cut by the kitchen staff a couple of hours ago and that the waiting staff had no control of the kitchen. Well obviously we won't be ordering the bread there again any time soon, but what a shame to have short cut that gives a poor dining experience. And if bread is stale, do I want to order any cheese to go with it? Come on JP sort it out!

We went here on a Saturday afternoon, we were lucky that the weather was great and we sat in the window with the windows open. The food and wine was fabulous, staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable and even though it's a bit expensive, due to quality products, good service and good location, it's well worth the money. We will definitely be back again as this wasn't our first visit anyway!!

Nice, cosy little place in the heart of blackheath village.Good wines, excellent food. Just a bit expensive as priced as steep as in Central London. But I almost fell like I was back in a french small town, so I am grateful to Le Bouchon for giving me this feeling :)Would just be even better with some cheaper wine-the-glass entry level wines but overall really impressed with the place.

My sister and I visited last night, a mix up with the order, goats cheese arrived instead of Cheddar, as soon as I realised I informed the waitress who then brought the cheddar. The Goat cheese then appeared on the final bill, it was only an extra £3 on out £43 order, "but why am I paying for something I didn't order or want" The Manager, apparently said I did order it. Note to management, you turned what would have been a very pleasant evening, into me wondering why would you treat a customer that way? For £3!?! Really?

We went late on a Saturday night, they still managed to fit us in which was great, the wine and cheese board we got were fabulous, our party tried a red and white and loved both and we will definitely be visiting again soon.

Favourite place around to meet for a glass of wine and small bites after work. It's great all year round, as the front opens up with tables on the pavement in summer and it's cosy when it's colder outside.

Nous avons eu l'occasion de découvrir ce charmant bar à vin lors de notre séjour à Londres. Planches de fromage et charcuterie, excellent verre de vin, petits plats traditionnels..tout est fait pour nous faire voyager en France.Le cadre est chaleureux et agréable.Un gros plus pour l'accueil et le service qui nous feront sans hesiter retourner dans cet établissement.Merci à Jeremy pour ces precieux conseils et sa bonne humeur.

We love this place and have been here many times. The service is amazing, wine list extensive, and the food is lovely too.

We were so glad when Le Bouchon opened in Blackheath. It's a chic yet relaxed place to have some wine, and they are delightfully generous with the portions for the cheese platter. Despite being a lovely village, Blackheath has a dearth of sophisticated places to have a drink, and is beset by down-market pubs and chain restaurants like Giraffe. Compared to all that, Le Bouchon is breath of fresh air. We visited recently on a gloriously sunny day and sat by the open windows -- all the tables outside were taken! We haven't tried too many things on the food menu, it's more of a nibbles affair than a place for a full-on meal. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful cosy little place with a great selection of wines, but once you scratch the service, it leaves a fair bit to be desired. The service was quite poor and unfriendly. The vintage of the wines is not put on the wine list. The wine we had was incorrectly listed, the bottle that they opened for us was similar, but not the same as the wine on the menu. We were not made aware of this, and when informed the waiter, it was clear that he knew but wasn't bothered. Finally, we asked for our wine to be decanted, which at first surprised the waiter, then he just poured the bottle into the decanter, meaning the sediment was simply transferred. Not great.

The decor is lovely, subtle, moody lighting and a really lovely atmosphere. Very nice quiche, tapenade with excellent bread, and we were pleased with our choice of cheeses. Pleasant service and unobtrusive background music. A few tables outside for warmer weather. Everything we ate was a disappointment. The Quiche tasted of absolutely nothing and served neither hot or cold, the tapenade has an awful alcoholic smell and taste (going off?) the bread was cold and the terrine was tiny. Everything was at least 50p too expensive for the quality of food.The service is Parisian, which can be fine, but the place lacked any atmosphere, really needs a rethink about decor.

This was a treat from my other half who, after hearing me complain about never getting good Django and Gypsy Jazz, surprised me! Lovely little spot, as you'd find in France, smart-rustic, with excellent on-hand friendly service and a food focus on platters of cheese, charcuterie and more, plus a small but well chosen selection of mains. As a wine bar they have not only a solid but also well priced selection of wines, to boot available in carafe. London has many wine bars (most overpriced, simply using a name and/ or with little point of difference, read : unexciting): Here at least you can tell thought and effort was put into it. Not cheap mind; circa the £80-100 for two for champagne cocktails, planches and two carafes + coffee. But I must say all the cold cuts and cheese were excellent. My only complaint, and this while I do realise many places do this: the bill had an automatic addition of complementary tip (£10+); i didnt raise it as we had a nice time but I think it is up to the customer to decide if and how much to leave! Despite this, a nice venue for a catch up with friends and family.

My husband booked this as a surprise for our anniversary. Having two kids we hardly get out so it was joy. Although starting the evening in Le Bouchon was a disappointment. The waitress was very rude and we felt rushed out so they could accommodate more customers. We planned to stay there longer, but left after an hour. When we contacted the manager he said as we are British we did not like his Parisian ways! We were shocked and could not believe he was not willing to listen to customers opinions. Especially having been to this place many times. Since then we have found a lovely place in Greenwich (champagne and fromage) the food is much better, staff are lovely and you are welcomed to stay as long as you like.
