Le Bistrot Pierre in Plymouth

Last Saturday (9th Nov), we booked a table for a large group (18 people) for our Grandma's 90th birthday. Extended family came from all over the UK to celebrate her milestone and catch up after a long while not seeing each other. We had a wonderful evening and think it's worth telling you how great it was and why. Not only did the menu suit a very mixed bag of preferences with such variety, but it catered so well to our coeliac 7 year old niece. This is so important and great - there's often only a few options for her in various eateries and as she's so young, she can feel left out/sad about this. Her face lit up when she saw the option to have gluten-free calamari (her favourite!) and the team also went above and beyond by offering to make one of the not advertised GF options (halloumi burger) GF. Also on the food generally, everyone absolutely loved their dishes (the steaks went down very well and were cooked to perfection!). Also as a long-term tee-totaller I want to commend you on the range of alcohol-free options you have on offer, loved the AF Riesling! Now to Gordy. He was our main server for the night and made the night! He was friendly and welcoming, accommodating and patient with our rabble and incredible with our three little-uns. He was also so kind and funny with all of us, particularly our Grandma - he went out of his way to check in with her/make her laugh and make her feel special through the night. He also noted our 7 year old niece reading Harry Potter after dinner and made a point of telling her and my brother/sister in law how beautiful it is to see a child reading in a restaurant (presumably there's often a lot of phones/tablets involved!) - just demonstrating how attentive and lovely he is! Thank you team, and Gordy in particular, for such a lovely evening all round. We've been many times before and it is always great, but this one was a massive highlight. Will definitely be back! Excellent and very good service (from Emily), will definitely visit again, I recommend this venue for a good experience.

We stayed the night at Bistrot Pierre at short notice after a long day's walking. So we had dinner and breakfast, as well as a room for the night. The room in Royal William Yard was very comfortable and just across the green from the restuarant. We thought that dinner was exceptional. If you have the Menu Pierre it is very good value for a very well-cooked and tasty meal. Breakfast also very good. Overall, we would definitely stay and/or eat at Bistrot Pierre again.

Great two night stay at Rooms by Bistrot Pierre for a reunion with friends. Amazing sleep and everything you would expect of a grand hotel but much more low key, friendly and comfortable. Breakfast was good across the green and staff were so lovely and attentive. Thank you. We will return!

I must say the John Dory was quite super. A food masterpiece with the mushrooms. We also enjoyed the Apple Tarte with Ice Cream which was very nice.

I went in for some icecream after going to the theatre whilst I was waiting for my bus. The girl who initially served me was very pleasant, and the icecream was okay. However I went to use the toilet before I left and another female member of staff yelled excuse me at me in a very rude and unpleasant manner, the others did have the grace to look embarrassed and apologised.that the loo was closed.

On two occasions in the last month I have had a bad experience here. The bar tender is arrogant and rude. When I ask to speak with the manager he said he was the manager which was of course a lie. When we asked for some milk with the tea we order, he said English tea never comes with milk and started to argue with my wife about it. The previous time we were there, the same man raised his voice at me saying glasses were not permitted on the outside tables. I was in a meeting with seven important people who all mentioned how uncomfortable he made everyone feel. I will never return to this poorly managed restaurant.

Best waffles of the city. We love it! Staff always seem overwhelmed however polite-ish. Good selection of ice creams and desserts

Booked a table last weekend. Excellent meal and great service. We were well looked after by the waitress Laura. Her attention to our needs was a good indicator that she will be a great asset to the restaurant.look forward to our next visit and, maybe, our next, chance to be served by such a caring waitress.

Wir hatten eine Wanderreise gebucht. Der letzte Abschnitt: von Portwrinkle nach Plymouth, bei Regen. Unterkunft: Pierre Bistro. Schönes Ambiente, wirklich schöne Zimmer, aber leider ein sehr unfreundliches Willkommen. Trotz freundlichen Nachfragens keine Antwort wegen Check-In oder Räume. Man wurde einfach ignoriert. Wahrscheinlich weil man im nassen Wandergewand wohl kein willkommener Gast ist. Leider ist dieses Bistro nicht weiter zu empfehlen.

Great place, waffles and sundaes are amazing and not to expensive. It's worth starting at the front and just working through the menu on multiple visits. Definitely a place to go. They are very welcoming to children including my children with SEND.

The service was good as they were polite, informative and helpful. Atmosphere is let down by being right on the main road. The coconut and espresso flavours were the best out of what we had, the pistachio and vanilla flavours didn't taste as much as I would have hoped of the actual name. They aren't a cheap place, so we went as a treat but would go back again.

Came here for Sunday roast dinner and afternoon tea another day. The food and staff are so lovely. We were served by Fynn (very funny) , Luzio (so chatty and warm) and a wonderful warm friendly Scottish gentleman whose name I could not see. Ignore the negative reviews, food and staff are top notch, restaurant is lively (albeit quiet at 4pm when we had afternoon tea but didn't detract from the ambience) Very good value, the Sunday roast was dekuc3, vegetables perfectly al dente, my son said his pork medallions and toulouse sausages was the nicest meal he ever had. He was not so keen on mustard sauce and we hears after he could have changed the sauce so good to know. The giant profiterole is too good to share lol Download the loyalty app.

We had a fab evening. We loved this restaurant, the staff, location, food & ambience were all great. Gordon did an awesome job of looking after us, he was very attentive, helpful & charismatic. The food was delicious. We loved the altrincham BP which has now closed, but the Plymouth one was way better & lovely to see they’d got some of the unique furniture from there. We’ll defo be back next time we’re down.

Absolutely, bloody gorgeous, first time there and I had the chocolate delight, amazing.

We had the roche waffle with snickers ice cream and the cookie dough with pistachio and kinder ice cream. The service took a while both for ordering and waiting for food, they all seemed a little dead behind the eyes, possibly due to this being another company to not properly pay staff but I'm not to know if they definitely are or not. The waffle was one of the best I've tasted so they've definitely got a good batter recipe and keep it light and airy rather than sat waiting in a glob like some I've had. The cookie dough however did taste slightly burned, cookie dough is also supposed to be slightly towards the undercooked end of the spectrum and soft rather than the chocolate bits being burned and crunchy. The actual cookie wasn't burned, but the chocolate chips were. The gelato ice cream however was incredible! In future I'll just stick with waffles and ice cream or try the sundaes.

We stayed in their "Rooms" and had two breakfasts and one dinner. We've eaten at their other sites in Derby, Nottingham and Torquay and the standard is always good. On the Sunday evening during dinner they even coped with the power out for about 20 mins ...admirable !

Staff seemed overwhelmed. The venu was nothing like the photos and description on the website. Very noisy, chaotic and crammed restaurant (not quite a zoo). Explained to staff member why we were leaving after only 5 mins, and he made no attempt to find us a quieter area. No care for passing trade. Be honest with your website.

The food was lovely and the service was fabulous! Gordy made everyone feel really welcome. It makes such a difference to the experience when you are made to feel welcome.

Had not booked a table, but plenty of room. The tables outside are not table service, we sat inside. We (4 of us) were of the same opinion about the main course, very well cooked and presented. I had the butternut squash, wow. The different flavours “exploded” in my mouth. My friends thought their meals were tasty also (fish and duck). Portions are not huge, but we all thought were adequate. I did not have a sweet. My friends did and thought they were not as good as the main course. Service. Was very good, helpful and efficient.

Great place to eat. Greeted by friendly staff and remained attentive. Menu choices were good and reasonably priced. The restaurant was busy so had a nice ambience. Booked a week in advance. No complaints. Will return.

The ice-cream was so good. Lots of variety on the menu with the choose of making up your own. Reasonable price also. Diego who served us was amazing. Very welcoming and was there's to help.

Nice sweet treat but the atmosphere is dead....

Horrible customer service! My cake was having mold and fungus. Serving expired fungal food with fuzzy white and green spots is outrageous. And no regrets for serving food like that to the customers. NEVER GOING THERE EVER AGAIN!😤 I took a bite of the food before noticing. Hope I don't get food poisoning. 😭

This place is great for kids, if you don't mind declaring yourself bankrupt after you visit, inside decor and seating is clean and tidy, but the place lacks atmosphere or basic customer service skills from the staff. The kids enjoyed their ice creams though, I didn't have any myself because of how extortionate the prices were.

Had our first experience here today and was really impressed. The young lady serving was friendly and helpful, the display was beautiful (cakes as well as gelato), the portions were generous and flavours delicious. Would happily return in the future.

I ordered a ice-cream in a cornet. The name of the ice-cream was 'caramel'. I was dismayed to find that the main flavour was margarine. I suppose there must have been a mix up with the name labels, as margarine flavour is apparently their best seller. At £3 I expected much better, supermarket ice-cream would have been just as good. The cornet was fine though.

Revisited here with grandchildren delicious food Memories made great service and food coffe good too. I make my own mind up about a place. Will go again.

This is one of my children's requested locations. Great choice of deserts and we love the fact inside it looks like an American diner. It's our go to place after we've been to the Theatre. Portions are generous. So at times we've had two deserts between 3 of us.

Just walked past to find a gang of 20-30 kids/youths inside and outside causing havoc, then an adult male came out and started throwing their bicycles around, one of which nearly hit my 74 year old friend! Not a good experience to have while we are in Plymouth on holiday. Maybe call the Police instead? Or get some security?

When walk in allways made welcome. Friendly staff so polite. Cheap and lovely food... :-)

Understaffed on a Saturday so everyone was waiting a long time and customers had to clear tables as no one was able to do it.

I just had my birthday cake an hour ago and the staff was very rude. I’m a college student who studied English for 4 years and an Indian something staff was trying to fix my English while I was ordering. All I can say is she ruined my time in there. Apart from that, we tried to be better than her and we gave her a piece of cake and she turned it back to our table!!. Celebrate yourself somewhere u feel welcomed!

kicked my service dog in training out because hese a big dog. Was told yes he could come in then got dirty looks and was told to take him out.

waited an hour for one waffle. forgot about my order, when I asked I was told that ‘there is no table 15’ despite us literally making an order to the table that came. staff then said ‘we’ll get back to you’ and continued making orders. not being funny, but I’ve been waiting an hour longer than everyone else I should be taking priority.

Warm and friendly staff. Spacious seating areas. Good coffee to lots of delightful sweet goodies to eat.

Possibly the worst customer service and Ice cream parlour in Devon. Daylight robbery of a pensioner at its finest don’t bother trying to contact the manager as they slam the phone down on you! AVOID AVOID AVOID A disgrace to the City of Plymouth. My 75 year old Nan thought she would treat herself and a friend to ice cream on an hot day. She ordered a milk shake and 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream £6:50. When only a jam jar of milkshake arrived she asked the lady who served her where the bowl of chocolate ice cream was and if she had been confused about her order. The server said she understood that it was two separate items however the ice cream had been put in the milkshake by the man making the deserts and if she wanted more she would have to pay for more even though she didn’t get the original bowl. To top it off she was advised there was no shift manager working, so she took the number and called to explain what had happened only to have the phone slammed down on her. I wonder how many other how many other elderly people they have ripped off. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful behaviour from a business. THEFT OF A PENSIONERS MONEY YOU MAKE ME SICK AND ITS NOT A DAIRY INTOLERANCE!

For the prices they charge portions are very little the food doesn't actually taste any better then if u just got it out of a packet from Tesco's up the road staff are nice but they do forget to bring cutlery which in my opinion at the price they charge you shouldn't have to ask for example a spoon for an icecream

honestly its so bad and so overpriced - especially the crepes which i would avoid at all costs. I've had much better at lots of other places in Plymouth.

Went in shop but was in total shock tea that was £2 small cup leap to £2.80 No wonder business go out of business these days

Good desert good service although a bit slow

Sad to say but terrible the waffle was all gooey and tasted bland the strawberry was nearly past there best and the chocolate milkshake well didn't taste chocolate at all unfortunately won't be back!

Used to love this place, but slowly it’s gone downhill. Really slow service, sticky unclean tables, wrong orders, portions getting smaller and less impressive. Now quite expensive compared to other places in the area also. A shame really.

If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to visit.. they have a range of crepes & waffles and many different cakes, warm cookie desserts and a range of different flavour gelato. I tried a banana & toffee crepe and it was just what I needed at the time. My friend had the same but as a waffle. This place has an American style diner feel to it. Its in a convenient location across from the Theatre Royal in the city center. Id recommend this place.

Ordered take away and found hair in my food so rang the store, extremely rude customer service and tried to blame the delivery company for the hair. Asked for a replacement or refund and I was refused and hung up on.

Absolutley disgusting! Ordered a kindle beuno milkshake the milk tasted gone of, the chocolate they out inside was stale!! The state of the food was disgusting!! Never will I ever be going there again

I went at 10 pm , (the shop closes at 11 pm) I was waiting to be served and 4 staff were just chatting and not even bother to get me the order, that’s the second time that I have a horrendous experience in this shop

Do not place order via Deliveroo. Daughter ordered the White Chocolate Heaven Waffle, priced at £5.95 in shop, paid £9.95 on Deliveroo. How can they justify charging an extra £4 !! I ordered a Belgian Chocolate Waffle. According to Deliveroo menu, it was supposed to be covered in thick, chocolate sauce. Well, let's say a DRIZZLE of chocolate sauce would be more accurate. Paid £8.25 for that. Couldn't even say that offered on Sunday Gelato's own menu. Will not be ordering again.

Went there on saturday evening, was fairly busy, and it was very short staffed, but ladies done as best as they can to serve everyone as quickly as they can. Desserts were very delicious, milkshakes tasty too. Definitely will go back again.

Brilliant waffles, had the Nutella and Ferrero Roche 1. (And a little scoop of ice cream on the way out) lots of seating.
