Lawn Lane Fish Bar in Dacorum

My first and last time, visiting this fish shop. Fish was dry as if it had sat on the hot plate all afternoon, dry and batter soggy. The burgers were covered in sauce, weren't even asked if we wanted sauce, and so much put in the burger that the bun, went soggy on the base, and my son wouldn't eat it. The chips were as dry as a bone, and didn't improve when i covered them in vinegar. My worst fish shop experience

First my food took over an hour to get to me and when the driver finally arrived he handed my husband a tiny bag. My husband quickly realised something was wrong as we had ordered £30 worth of food. The driver then apologised he had given our order to someone else!!!!!!. He headed back to the shop and we contacted them to ask for the same preference of skinless cod and crispy batter. The guy on the phone was dismissive and said yes yes its all done for you and on its way. Needless to say, 2hours after our first order, we got our food. Again we were massively disappointed as the Cod was dry and had skin on!!!! My toddler son was soooo hungry having waited 2 hours for his supper he was crying!!!! There was disgusting skin on the Cod so we couldn't eat it. The chips, curry sauce and peas were all cold. Overall we would not recommend this fish and chip shop and certainly be returning anytime soon!

We placed an order through Uber eats for Friday night takeaway and were very disappointed with the service, food, and overall value for money. We waited 1 hr 40 minutes for four items to be delivered. We called twice during this time for an update, for the bloke to try and fob us off with 'they're just round the corner from you' the first time, and 20 minutes later, still no food. The cod and sausage were lukewarm and the chips and curry sauce were cold. I would definitely not recommend, save your stomach and order from somewhere else.

What a lovely surprise! Rang and picked up in 15 mins . Very friendly staff the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time .

Ordered fish and chips tonight delivered by Uber Eats. Delivery was fine, however food was very disappointing. Batter on fish was soggy, all food was luck warm, as was curry sauce. Also ordered gravy but didn't receive it which was a real let down as nothing live chips and gravy! Was really looking forward to as well. Cant say I would recommend or order from them again.

Always great quality food here, freshly cooked, big portions. Nice to have a local chip shop that delivers too.

just fancied a fish and chips last night for supper , it was delivered in less than 45 minutes , hot , tasty , really nice supper , will use again

Very Good freshly cooked Fish and Chips, you may have to wait, but you'll be pleased once you start eating them.

A decent fish and chip shop, freshly cooked on the day which isnt always the case with some "chippies" Unfortunately parking can be a bit of a pain as its on a very busy road, which is a shame, as its definately one of the best in town

The cod and chips were delicious, very clean place and i was impressed with a plastic knife and fork for takeaway food!! No greasy fingers!!☺

Eaten in one lunchtime and had takeaway one evening, nice fish and chips (cooked fresh on both occasions) service is good, will be returning.

This is still my go to fish and chip shop in my local area.....staff are great and the quality of everything they do from fish to proper Shish kebabs is second to none. Give it a go, you won't be dissapointed

We use to go ever few weeks. In the last few times we have bin the service and food quality and portion size has bin very disappointing. Will look else were for my new local chipy

I've had takeaways from here many times and I can honestly say it's got to be the best from anywhere I've ever been. Always fresh and always hot and the chips are to die for... My new favourite takeaway by far ******

Been here a few times for a takeaway... they do have a few tables too. This place is relatively new on the scene not too far off the magic roundabout. The shop underwent a total revamp before being opened by the current owners. The food is always fresh and never feels that it has been sitting around for any length of time. They do Lunchtime specials and meal deals as well. I can truly recomend the fish. The only downside is parking - with limited parking spaces along this parade and so finding a space can be hit or miss. If you need your car washed drop it off a few doors down while you pop in to order and get your food... just a thought. Recommend the Cod bites - nice lrage chunks of cod cooked in fresh crispy batter...

I can honestly say this is by far the best fish and chips I've had in Hemel to date I now go every Wednesday (FISH AND CHIP NIGHT) as my kids call it. I highly recommend clean lovely food and polite staff

Wonder how many people realise on Just Eat website they go under the name of ' Fish & Chips'. Nice see a take away wide variety for dishes on the menu how ever from our experiences do check your order thoroughly, the food quality it seems to vary i.e. one minute really lovely the next near cr*p. doing The Food hygiene rating 5 as not long ago was a 3 star, would recommend this place 'NO'! Also not worth the money. Going back to Roastino, the best in town!

We used to go to this fish and chip shop years ago and stopped going as it was so bad. Having driven past and seen that it had been completely renovated we decided to try it again as it is our local and I can't stress enough how much it has changed, top staff very friendly, everything is cooked to order the way it should be. Highly recommend, it's now our local again.

Great value for kids fish and chips (three pieces of freshly cooked mini battered fish) and a good portion size chips served in a box for £3.50 including any drink from the Fridge!! That's a great deal even for a small adult to have! The Fish is cooked freshly and the Large Fish is huge! Very tasty choice of vinegars to onion vinegar and there's a clean seating area too! Great size portion chips newly opened in the last year and is a great take away service with friendly staff. A+++

Rude staff, absolutely disgusting fish (once bitten into it was grey slimy and stank!) This was voted the best in the county - LOL its a utterly disgusting dump with a pretend mini sit down in the front. The new owners have run it into the ground by using sub-standard food, cheap labour, very poor hygiene "standards" and a super rude nasty git of a manager! When this off food was pointed out he basically said swore at us and said get lost wont replace it! NOTHING TO RECOMMEND IT!!!
