I'm gutted. I loved this chippy since I moved to Telford 7 years ago. I'm Scottish and haven't really enjoyed English chippies because they're so different but I loved this one and even when I moved out of Lawley I'd continue to order from there. So imagine how gutted I am when I order tonight and the food quality is subpar. AND they've sent me the complete wrong food which honestly looks inedible and I'm not being funny but when I order donner kebab meat and chips for literally just shy of a tenner, I expect to get it. Instead I got chicken and it's not something I'd feed my dog. I've tried to ring them over 5 times, no answer. From reading reviews now this seems to be a common thing. Reached out via social media, nothing. I've had to raise it via JustEat and honestly I'm just so disappointed. And still bloody hungry.

Normally ok ordered and paid for a large cod was medium at best just want value for money deloveroo got it here quite quick

Experienced terrible service last night, delivery drivers double parking everywhere while waiting over half an hour for substandard food, our chicken was wet, slimy and hardly cooked.They might as well open up on a industrial estate and just do deliveroo/ just eat. They not interested in serving normal punters....i was shocked . They are certainly not a traditional fish and chip shop , staff totally disconnected from serving normal punters.

Ordered off uber eats. Ordered at 7.30 Said 8.10 delivery. Then changed to 9.10 delivery…they close at 8.45. Phoned 8.30 wouldnt answer the phone. Food never arrived. Said on the app its was delivered to a completely different address at 9.15pm. Avoid

Bought some fish and chips from here again,first time since 2019? nothing changes does it? the fish was quite nice,but the chips were exactly the same as before in 2019, pale ,flaccid, tasteless and severely undercooked/underfried, I paid more for a so called large curry sauce? if that was the large one,i dread to think how big the normal size is? not cheap either. won't try here again ever.

We had fish and chips tonight. The food was awful. Fish overcooked and chips were bland. Curry sauce was like water with absolutely no texture to it at all. I've eaten here in the past and had pleasant experiences. Never again! Avoid.

We used to love this place and recommend it to others there was always a queue. last time ewe went the food was poor a few months ago, I believe the ownership had changed. Tonight we decided to try again. I asked for Haddock and was met with bewilderment ?? (some one else said, sorry we dont have it. I ordered large fish, small chips, curry sauce and peas. The chips must be the worse chips I have ever had, tiny, greasy and reheats or under the lights to long, the curry sauce was grainy, i know its made with powder and it tasted like it. The peas actually had a hard lump in them the size of a dice. The fish was pretty good but was not eaten as the rest put us off. By the way there was no queue and only one more customer while I waited for my fish. I do a lot of reviews and never this long, Never been this disapointed in a long time

We moved into the area 3 years ago and during that time have been told, not by the locals, that numerous other places are the 'go to' establishments for the best fish and chips. WRONG!! Lawley Square Fish Bar offers everything you'd want. It has a very good menu choice and is always fresh or cooked to order. The staff are just brilliant and they all know what they're doing. As a family we have been coming here regularly (too regularly?) for 3 years and we have NEVER had a meal that was less than absolutely lovely. If you're looking for a traditional chippy that cooks its food to the highest standard and employs staff that give free smiles and a chat to all, then this is the plaice (see what I did there?) for you. Highly recommended 5⭐ (like that was a surprise!)

First visit and last. Very disappointed in the food. Had cod and small chips, fish was overcooked and very dry. Batter was no better. Chips were tiny and also overcooked. Considering it was 6.30 on a Friday night, wasn’t too much to expect freshly cooked food. This tasted like it had been sat in the warming cabinets from the day before. Staff were pleasant enough, the place looked very clean,but the food was a massive let down.

Great value for money and yummy food! Staff are always lovely and friendly and helpful in here - wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I know i had vowed never to use this place again? but today my wife wanted something from Subway, and miraculously there happened to be a vacant space outside Lawley fish bar to park, well while the Mrs was in Subway i chanced a bag of chips, not much else in the hot cabinets for sale but i did have a fish cake, it was either that or a battered sausage? uuugh,no complaints about the fish cake, but the chips were probably the worst looking and tasting chips i have ever had, needless to say most of them ended up in the bin, God knows where they buy their spuds from but i bet they don't cost much?

I use this chip shop on a regular basis because the food is great, the past few times I’ve been in I’ve noticed some conflict towards the boss I think it is and a member of staff but today I was shocked and appalled by the way he spoke and had ago at the young girl it made me feel extremely uncomfortable, I will 100% not be returning!!

We love visiting our local chippy - not only do they have great fish and chips and oh my gosh the mushy peas! The staff are always super lovely and friendly and are great. The box meals are great value and we visit regularly for our Lawley chippy fix!!!

Me and my husband had fish and chips with a sausage and curry sauce from here. All was excellent and very tasty. Nice crisp batter that wasn’t soggy nor over cooked. Very generous portions for a very reasonable price. Only slight downside is it is cash only but that is very minor as there is a cash point very close to it. Really good and will definitely be visiting again.

We have never been disappointed with our takeaway from Lawley Fish Bar. The cod in batter is excellent and always perfectly cooked. The chips are great too and the portions are generous. Recommended

Very disappointed in quality of fish it was very dry and tough. I also had to wait 10minutes for it to be cooked. What a shame, it always was very good quality fish here. Be interested in other views before I return.

Having read mixed reviews and shopping next door at Morrison’s my wife and I decided to try a evening meal, I’m Kebab mad and was not disappointed, food was lovely although they had run out of onions and plentiful, enough for two, the wife had fish and chips once again large portions and enjoyable, reviews complain about service , tonight they were polite and quick my lucky night.

I have the pleasure of occasionly helping out at this chippy as well as being a regular customer ..ive worked in many chippies in telford and not one has come close to the food standards of here ...you wont find two day old meat mixed in with new here or anything come to that ..all food served that day comes from that day ..best chippy to work in and eat from in telford

I have given a few chip shop reviews in the past the reason is I work away from home, this is a first class chippy. Food and service are first class staff are polite and friendly.

By far the best fish & chip shop in Telford. The cod is lovely and flakey and enormous and the medium chips is more than large enough for two of us. Always busy and the staff friendly and courteous. Definitely recommend and we use it on a frequent basis

Lady staff miserable and I felt a tad rude. We bought meal deals and weren't given the drinks to go with them and not reminded by the lady who served us they were included with our meals! After our order was taken the women didn't say a word to us and started serving someone else then 15 minutes later then dished up what we ordered. Food was mediocre, nothing to write home about. Was also disappointed as they don't sell baked beans, I thought every chip shop sold baked beans!!!! Won't be returning!!!!!

Lovely chippy, you may have to queue but its worth it, the fish is tasty and batter crispy, worth a journey.

We have been 10+ times and our advice would be to avoid the brunette waitress at all costs - she's moody and very stingy on the salt and vinegar. We always ask for lots of salt and vinegar but she rations it out like gold dust. We have to bring the food home and put it on ourselves.

I have visited this fish shop a number of times. The ques speak for themselfs! The food is to a very high standard and the staff are very friendly! Highly recommend!

Great value for money! Had a large fish an chips an some Mediterranean chicken an it was lovely i would definitely visit again an the portion sizes are really filling could feed 2 ppl.

I wasn't aware that this place had changed hands, but that may account for the poor selection of food on offer! three times in the last month I have tried them again and am finished with them now for good, one lunchtime I went in at about1.40 and as usual no large fish (or fish of any size) in the hotplate ready to sell and wrap, and it is regularly the same , the only thing they seem to have plenty of is pies, which I did have one day this week, served up by the most sour faced female I have encountered in a long while, but it was hardly warm let alone hot, and I had to microwave it when I got back home(4 minutes away) I will not bother again, definitely finito.

Not too keen on the atmosphere, the girls behind counter very miserable, however the large fish was perfect, very white, very flaky and very tasty best ive tasted in a long time, chips slightly soggy

I regularly visit this chippy. The food can be fantastic but can also be awful depending on which staff are working. Can't be beaten when they are on form but wouldn't go near if not. Could be cleaner for a fairly newly open shop.

Really tasty cod and chips, the fish is so white and flaky, the batter is not greasy. Definitely my favourite fish and chip shop. The portions are so big and I would definitely recommend !

This place has become a family favourite. Staff are great. Everything is fried well and the fish is as big as a whale. Portions are so big I recommend asking for smaller portions. Excellent.

This was by far the best local chippy in the area. I had the pleasure of being one of the first customers when it opened and what a treat it was. In some way our experience re introduced us to this type of food.

Visited this place few months ago while passing by ever since come here every week minimum twice a week even though i pass many other chip shops while coming here from ironbridge it is well worth it staff are always polite and friendly they always make you feel welcome and have a good joke and laugh. The food is the best there large fish is huge and always fresh chips are amazing and fluffy the way they should be. I have heard the owners of this place have changed but someone told me its no good anymore until i went and saw it for myself,i have also heard its still in the family so i can understand why the food is soo nice. place is always tidy and neat considering how busy they are in there

When 1st opened was amazing Food was Beautiful & the place was kept Tremendously clean unfortunately I think I was Told it was taken over by New owners - shame about The Filthy business that Gose on behind the counter caught the Guy with his hand up some ladies skirt and flirting - chips were not amazing not blaming the owners but blame the staff they've hired he touched our food without washing hands after his hand had been up the back of the ladies behind very shameful

We found this place when we first moved to Lawley Telford. I thought it must be good when i saw the long queue inside. I was not disappointed. They make fresh as they go along and portion sizes are BIG. Great value for money. Been going back ever since and never been disappointed.

Best chippy around the food is always fresh and piping hot I ordered a cheese burger and must say it was the best around you can tell they grill the burgers will definitely return staff are very friend and work fast and shop is the cleanest I have seen

Just went for a mini fish special (I say mini but it was equivalent to a large fish in other chip shops) the fish was pure white inside well cleaned and the batter wasn't too thick, the shop is kept tidy the staff are welcoming, the portions are huge as my husband had a kebab and couldn't finish it, can't wait to go back and try their grilled food.

When this place first opened, we had a superb fish and chips meal from here, they had just had in a fresh supply of new Cypriot potatoes and it was all magnificent, the fish was lovely and the chips were to die for, How it has changed, the ranges never seem to have any hot food stock ready to wrap and sell, so you always have to wait for them to cook it for you, and if you like Plaice (like I do) well forget it, it's up on the illuminated menu boards, but they have rarely got in, so I have to make do with cod, which fair play is nice, if you are a cod lover and don't mind waiting all the time while they cook it. And the chips are very rarely adequately cooked through, and normally , are not crispy on the outside, but pallid and flaccid strips, and unless I am lucky enough to catch the chips when they just come out of the fryer, I always have to pop them in the oven to heat them up if they are served out of their holding part of the range, they need to up the temperature of the holding part, and bear in mind I am only just up the road, so they should still be hot enough to eat straight from the shop. all in all not very good, but I must speak as I find, and now when we want any fish and chips I travel a few miles further on to Wrockwardine Wood, to an Award winning chippie where there is consistency in everything

This is a very popular fish bar and with good reason. It's clean, efficient, friendly and more importantly, the fish and chips are not only well cooked, but they come in generous portions. No hesitation giving this place the thumbs up!

This is now the only chip shop we use even though it is a few miles from home and we pass a number of others to get there. Portions are enormous and food is always beautifully cooked.

Wonderful traditional chippy.. best chippy in telford.. food is always fresh and best quality.. staff is polite, friendly and happy the staff always be working fast so ques move quicker and keep the shop clean even at busy times well done guys! Oh and the fish is massive, best fish and chips..no grease... often visit ther with family and friends.. they love it
