Having arrived at your 4* hotel our high expectations of a fabulous afternoon tea were very quickly shattered. We arrived to a large empty room, (not quite the Laura Ashley experience as advertised) with several tables cluttered with dirty plates, glasses etc and no staff in evidence, even though we arrived at our scheduled pre-booked time. I then tracked down a staff member to locate a table. We requested a high chair and received the attached damaged and filthy chair - see photographs-the padded seat was torn and the dirty foam exposed, the straps were discoloured and stained with dirt, the tray was dirty on all sides, it was disgusting! Surely a health and safety issue which needs urgent attention. I found a manager to complain about the state of the uncleared room and appalling highchair as this was supposed to be a special occasion and treat for my daughter and grandson. A man was summoned and he came and wiped the tray, and I pointed to further stains on the lip of the tray which he then scrubbed to remove. My daughter had to use her coat as a clean and hygienic base to sit her child in… He gave us a fizzy drink which I assume was in recognition of customers having to request cleaning of your own equipment. The waiter appeared and started to finally clear the tables around us. We were asked if we wanted 'tea or coffee', is that the best a 4* hotel can offer? No choice of the vast range of tea or coffee were suggested as we expected. The afternoon tea arrived, no choice of plain or fruit scone as on menu, and was very poor. My daughter later picked up her scarf off the floor, to find it covered in mouldy food, debris and fluff off the carpet. This was the last straw, so we left. Overall a very poor experience which was a great disappointment given that this was supposed to be a treat and present for my daughter.

When we first arrived at the Laura Ashley tea room at kenwood hall we was greeted and told the tea room was full today and that we were in the overflow room. My initial thought was that I had actually booked it right back in September 2023 so it had been booked for 4 months, we should definitely be in the actual tea room. The waiter took us to a seperate room where there was a large table of about 10 people and then a smaller table for us. No other tables were there it made the room feel real empty. There was nothing on the walls, no music and certainly no atmosphere. I straight away went to speak to someone as I was very disappointed with this. However, the lady who originally greeted us, named sally straight away understood what I was saying and that she was going to try her best to sort us other, she said there had been an issue with the 2 different booking systems, I think not checking the reservations so we was ultimately double booked. Sally said at first that we could either wait for a table in the tea room but it could take an hour, or we could get a really good discount and a bottle of champagne. We went for the discount option as there is no way we was waiting around for another hour. Then 2 minutes later sally came back to us and let us know that she had sorted a table for us. We was really pleased that she could sort this for us as I wanted this to be special for my nan, as this was her Christmas present. We then got sat in the tea room, sally brought us a free bottle of wine & we had afternoon tea for 6 at the price for 4. Sally really could not do enought for us today and we were so grateful. The afternoon tea was really nice and overall had a lovely time with famil. Thanks for much for sorting us out :)

Yesterday, for my friends 50th, I booked afternoon tea herr. But when we went to the Laura Ashley tearoom it was shut! We we're sent to have it in the bar (not quite the lovely setting I had in mind for a birthday treat). We didn't eat all f it and took the scones home. We had them later that evening but they were so hard it was like cutting a dense chewy biscuit and they were totally inedible. I was bizarrely charged £24.50, but afternoon tea is advertised as £23/person, but, to be honest, I would pay nothing as the whole experience was disappointing. The only good thing was the barman on duty who was put in an awkward position of suddenly having to serve our afternoon tea - he was polite and attentive. Definitely would not recommend this place.

Two of us visited for afternoon tea in a weekday, I am gluten free and so requested this when booking. Sadly, there were only two things good about our visit - the beautiful tea room setting, and that we had the most lovely, friendly and kind member of staff serving us. The normal afternoon tea was a standard affair and looked like what you’d expect. The gluten free afternoon tea was very disappointing, as I was presented with a few cakes from the supermarket. Having been gluten free for a while, I’m pretty confident in my guess that it was Tesco’s own brand GF cherry bakewell, apple pie, and lemon loaf. I was also most disappointed that there wasn’t a scone for the gluten free tea either. I didn’t want to spoil our date by complaining at the time and I could see there was nothing the staff could have done as it is a fundamental issue with their gluten free serving, not something they could have fixed there and then. However, to be presented with cheap shop-bought cakes at an expensive afternoon tea is not acceptable. If you’re looking for a great afternoon tea in Sheffield, I can highly recommend Dysh on Ecclesall Road - homemade GF cakes and bakes, and you get the exact same menu as the standard tea.

Came in after a long day of walking in the Peak District and needed more snacks. Wasn't all that impressed by the dirt, dust and bits of debris strewn about the floor. The boy who took the order greeted us with all the enthusiasm of a secret arch-nemesis. There's a fairly extensive mention of milkshakes, waffles, ice creams, cakes and other unhealthy options. Ordered 2 Mint Aero cheesecake milkshakes. Both were good, but will not be coming back due to the general messiness of the place.

Ordered from her tonight and the food that I received was terrible I orders the mighty cheese garlic bread and normally it is nice and today it was like cardboard it was really brown on the bottom like it was severely over cooker or the dough was a few days old and the milkshakes were all melted and the curry was stone cold . When I rang because they were over an hour late they said that the driver was near Meadowhall never to say less I only live on Shiregreen don’t think I will be ordering from these again. And the driver well he was super creepy like he just came out of a Freddy cruger movie he gave me the chills.
