Larder in Lichfield

We popped in for Saturday lunch and chose the 5 course Spanish tasting menu. Fabulous combination of tastes and textures, loyal to Spanish cuisine but with a modern touch. Service was attentive and at the perfect pace. Portion sizes were also well thought through. Enough to enjoy each course, but not so much that we became full before the last course. Thank you.

Great food and amazing service!

Fabulous taster menu, with excellent combination of flavours & textures, perfectly presented. Braised pig cheek with Manchego custard and chorizo crumb was sublime. The almond, lime and pineapple salsa dessert was a fitting conclusion to the 5 courses. Service friendly and attentive, atmosphere spot on.

We have eaten at the Larder a few times and it never disappoints. The food is delicious (The Aged Beef is mouthwatering). The staff are attentive and friendly and the place has a great atmosphere

Was a suprise for my 40th birthday and all I can say is wow. We did the BBQ taster menu (was the last night for it). Nothing was too much for the staff. Took all allergies in to consideration and gave me a fantastic adapted course. Highly recommend to anybody.

Hubby and I attended as part of a corporate booking and found the restaurant chic and stylish. The staff were all very polite and accommodating from drinks on arrival and right through service. The food was excellent, absolutely delicious and everybody we spoke to said the same. Thank you all :) We had parked in the pay-and-display car park opposite Premier Inn which was an easy few minutes walk away. You can pay by cash or contactless or using a parking app.

Really enjoyed our visit here. On arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful. We had the tasting menu and the quality of the food was fantastic, every dish explained well and presented beautifully. Excellent wine choice as well. Will definitely go back.

Incredible food from the new autumn menu. Special occasion for father in laws birthday. Everyone had something different from the menu and all was exceptional; would have been pleased to pay twice the price. Personally had the black pudding and the aged beef; both exceptional. Top quality friendly service, cannot recommend enough.

A fabulous Sunday Lunch. served by attentive, happy, friendly staff, well done to you. I ordered the Pork, my partner the Beef both of which were cooked beautifully and full of taste. Portions were quite large, so I was pleased not have ordered a starter, leaving room for a dessert of lemon curd which was again delightful, my partner ordered the fruit crumble which although amazing was a little too much. Overall a lovely experience.

Went with my wife for Sunday lunch.I am afraid standards have dropped since last visit.Serving staff standing around talking should be more attentive.I had the Packington Pork with supposedly crackling.The crackling was like rubber my wifes chicken was bland .I dont mind paying extra for good food and service this was not either.

Some of the best food I've ever had. This is as good as any high-end place I've ever been.

A wonderful meal started with the most delicate and delicious belly pork with a surprisingly scrumptious kimchi dumpling. This was followed by the burger which was as delicious as always and finally a light as air soufflé- just heavenly. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant and we rebooked as soon as we got home ! Can’t wait to go back

We went for dinner to larder as a couple and were the only people in the restaurant for around 45 mins despite not being able to book a later time slot. Even when we left the restaurant there were lots of tables available so we couldn’t work out why we’d only been able to book an early table. As we were the only people in the restaurant, we felt we had a rushed experience. The waiters were great, very polite and attentive, but a little too speedy for us and we weren’t quite ready for our orders to be taken! The food was good, lovely flavours and my husband’s jerk chicken meal was particularly tasty. We didn’t think the portions were very big though and although the food was good we didn’t feel it lived up to our expectations. Overall a lovely evening and really pleased we tried it but not sure we’d return to Larder again.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and were seated upstairs in a very comfortable dining area. Most tables were occupied, which shows the restaurant’s popularity, with it only being a Wednesday evening. The a la carte menu was small, which I prefer. It makes it a little easier to choose. There was also a tasting menu and Italian special menu. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The food was really delicious. My pork dish, in particular, was perfectly cooked and so tasty. All in all a very pleasant visit and I would definitely recommend 😊

Pleasant staff but this restaurant did not live up to our expectations. It would have been nice if bread or a canapé had been brought to the table to start as it was quite a wait for the meal. The starters were quite good but I would not recommend the cod and ratatouille. The flavours in the ratatouille were far too strong and the cod was overcooked. The desert menu was tiny and we really didn’t want to try another course after the disappointing mains. Very unlikely we would return.

Our second visit as a group the The Larder. Food and service on both occasions was top notch. We’ll definitely be returning soon.

The food was excellent and a good choice for all. Starr were polite and efficient. Only small recommendation is to have some decent ales in, choice of 1 was a little disappointing.

Nice decor, lovely ambience but sadly the food did not live up to expectations. Six adults dined, all having 3 courses of differing dishes and none of us felt the quality was worth more than an average score.

Disappointing visit on this occasion unfortunately. Food wasn’t previous high standard, fish main had a minuscule amount of cod and sauce completely overpowered dish - also couldn’t identify the risotto? Staff were too hasty taking plates when some diners still eating

Excellent food, great service and very reasonable prices

Relaxed environment and my dish with the fish as it came in a strong tomato flavour sauce which overpowered the fish. My husband had pork and it was lovely.

What a great place to be. Food is absolutely amazing and as a spanish I can say I have had one of the best spanish food experiences I the UK after many years living here. Thank you very much for such an unforgettable lunch. 🙏

Great Saturday lunch venue for our group of 10. The menu is understated, but the food is smart and delicious. Great kitchen.

The restaurant is beautifully designed as well as being comfortable. Drinks arrived very quickly and were a cut-above the normal, we drank a mixture of red and white wine and some beer, none of it disappointed. The food was outstanding! I've actually never tasted food as good as this before ever. Was it expensive? Define expensive? It was more than I would normally pay for a restaurant meal, but it was well worth the price. The food was delicious and I'm very pleased I came. Would I come again? In a heartbeat. Even though (and this is the only drawback from our entire evening), our meal took over an hour to arrive. It was too long. Another nice touch from the restaurant was a card on the table as we arrived, we were there for a celebration 🍾 Portion size is as you might expect in these restaurants, on the small side, but after 2 courses, none of us came away hungry. Thank you Larder team for introducing me to fine dinning. It really was out of this world 🌎.

Booked a table for 5 a birthday meal, staff were very accommodating when needed to add an extra seat, there was a birthday card on the table when we arrived which was a nice touch! The food was exceptional and service just as good. A very enjoyable experience and will certainly book again.

Food was ok ,room for improvement , it was taster plates , but that was it taster plates and that was it ! So £48.95 bit steep we thought , and wine lovely but again pricey

Ok. Disappointed with the food. Was fancy on the plate but lacking in flavour. My duck starter was very average. The duck was just a few cold, dry, duck breast slices. No fat and no flavour. The atmosphere was off as well. At these prices you expect better.

Everything was great, and although I rated the food a 4, this was only due to other people I was with didn't enjoy everything. I personally thought the food was well thought out and provided a food experience like no other. The brioche bread with the pinkish stuff (sorry didn't grab the full name) tasted just like toasted tea cakes, phenominal.

Well what can I say. This place is a lovely place to eat and drinK. The food, service and quality was top notch. We was greated at the door with a smile and shown to our table. I had booked this for my wife 50th birthday, I would recommend this place to anyone. I would like to say a huge thankyou to the staff and manager. We will be back fir sure x

A really enjoyable meal with excellent food, good service and a nice ambience. Larder rightly claim they are "All flavour. No pomp" and has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide. We'll definitely be going again.

Wonderful lunch. So many flavours in my packington pork meal. Superb service, and my guest even got a handwritten birthday card. The toffee apple dessert was a delight. I thoroughly recommend trying out Lichfields best lunch!

Visited for Sunday lunch. When we booked there was a set menu at £35 a head which didn't exist when we arrived but there meals didn't work out much more than that. Maybe £35-40 a head for three courses. Good choice of starters. We had pate (needed more toast) and brie. A few choices for Sunday roast including a vegetarian option (we all had beef or pork which were delicious). We're left before pudding but they looked equally delicious. We have booked to go back! We went with our two children and we're made very welcome. Very good value for quality!!!

Fourth visit to the Larder and no let up in the quality of food and service provided. This place really impresses every time we go and has got to be on the verge of some higher recognition in the food world when compared with some of the ‘Michelin’ starred restaurants in the Midlands. We went for the Saturday afternoon sampler menu and was not disappointed. Every course cooked and presented to perfection and served up by a fantastic team that work there. We will be going back more often as this is one of lives affordable treats. Well done guys.

Great place for lunch or dinner. The food was amazing, and there was a lovely vibe. We weren't rushed despite there being a time limit on the table (fully understand the time limit, the place was fully booked). The only let down was that we weren't told of the specials and nobody offered to take our coats. I wouldn't have known about either if I hadn't heard the table next to us getting asked if they wanted to hang up their coats and what the specials of the day were. Nonetheless, I'd go back for the food.

Really nice place, made to feel very welcome by the team. Atmosphere was great, could not believe how busy it was on a Saturday afternoon, but tables were well spaced so it did not feel crowded. Food was very good and fresh. Extensive drinks menu with some lovely wine in there. My wife loves the cocktail options. The serving team were friendly, professional and very attentive - a credit to the restarunt. We will be back! 😋

Unfortunately this was a very poor experience. Starters were okay. I ordered the burger fo my main course which is £18 for which you’d expect a high standard. The burger came out and was dry and very over cooked in a very thin supermarket looking bun. I asked for it to be replaced but by the time the replacement came my friends had already finished eating so we didn’t actually get to eat together. Bread for 3 people was £9 which is very expensive (the curried butter with it was delicious though). We poured our own wine all night. When the bill came the burger was surprisingly left on despite the issues above and I had to ask for it to be removed. Overall an extremely disappointing experience for a restaurant at this price point, only made a little better by the very sweet front of house waitresses.

The service is amazing , the food is amazing and value for money , we had the taster menu for the first time they have ever served and it was hard to reduce the star for food to 4, theirs as few little tweaks before larder is worth a Michelin star, on part with many Michelin star restaurants, well done to the team

One of the easiest 5 star reviews I've had to give. In many years of working in the industry and dining at many a venue. The larder is right up there with the very best. On arrival you are warmly greeted by the head waiter ( name I neglected to get ) who shows you to your table and nicely remembered that it was the wife and I anniversary. He nicely introduced us about the restaurant and we was seated in the lovely upstairs room. The whole place is fantastic and the right atmosphere is carefully balanced from decor to music. You can tell the time has gone into carefully bringing the right level of professionalism without being too swank as they say. It is a place that will meet most occasions and the level of service is up there. The head waiter was very knowledgeable and knew his menu well and was very pleasant and attentive. I noticed the way he passed instruction to others also top level and could see he had the respect of the other seemingly younger service staff. Our server millie was a star. Again knowledgeable and attentive, warm , polite and on the ball. She did a really top job and she will grow to be a leader one day I am sure of it. Not sure if hospitality is what she wants to do but if she did she could very well go far. So massive thank you to Millie and who ever sees this review , I'm sure you know this buts Millie is a keeper. That said all the staff was great but millie stood out for me and my wife. This review is long and we haven't got to the food but please take note that this place is worth the time. As for the food it was next level good. Detail , presentation , flavours are all spot on. The chili lime prawns was just magical and delicious. The wife's soup of the day , which I believe was butternut squash was absolutely amazing, didn't think such a simple soup could taste that good. I enjoyed a well seasoned sirloin that was cooked perfectly but the winner has to go to the wife's duo of lamb. Now I use the butcher that supplies the meat here and it is top notch meat but the way in which it was cooked was pure perfection. My wife enjoys many a meal but let's say isn't as enthusiastic to dining as me and many others but this lamb even stunned and impressed her which if you knew my wife is like receiving a Michelin star, she was properly wowed by the lamb. For dessert we both opted for the bannoffe profiterole. This was a lovely end to the meal and real treat. Perfect balance of light sweet flavours that wasn't over the top sweet. Overall this was a top level evening that went beyond the expectation and exceeded the great reviews we had been told about before booking. The staff are a credit to the venue and the anniversary card was a nice touch and set the evening nicely . My old fashioned was probably one of the best I've had made for me and next time will maybe indulge on a taxi and enjoyed 1 or 2 more. Absolutely excellent, worth every penny and Google should have this place as a 5 star not the 4.8 , who ever knocked them down was a jealous rival or a customer suffering with delusions of grandeur lol really this place is awesome. Highly recommend

This one is actually 5 star worthy Been twice for Sunday set meals so far and the experience is constantly superb The food irrespective of its reasonable price is extremely well thought out and executed. Would highly recommend the roast beef! The service is always attentive and friendly The place is laid back but has a sophisticated interior and feels warm and inviting No service charge is mandated which is nice to tip as you can/see fit

A moment of serendipity. We had the pleasure of dining at Larder for the first time 2 weeks back. Cheese Beignets to start, absolutely delicious and the Chateaubriand was the best ive had this year. It was absolutely superb, I can't recommend this place highly enough, we'll definitely be regulars here. At a snip of the price of next door too.

Great restaurant, very high quality of food and service, staff were great and really enjoyed the meal.

This visit now and I think this was my favourite visit, better atmosphere upstairs. We had a great meal, very tasty, nice selection on the menu to choose from. We both particularly enjoyed our starters. Duo of Lamb was probably the weakest part of the meal, didn’t feel well balanced and croquette was very dry. Deserts were great! Wines are pretty expensive but a good selection, and the cocktails we started with were nice.

A must when in Lichfield. Outstanding food, impeccable service, fantastic value for money,what's not to like. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Our main course was very disappointing. The sirloin of beef was quite tough and the accompanying gravy was very salty. There were 4 of us and we all agreed that we wouldn't visit this venue again.

Fantastic food service was brilliant from the second we walked in the door. We were a group of seven and had three courses all presented beautifully.

The atmosphere was better upstairs but my husband has just had a hip replacement and couldn't climb the stairs. So we were happy to sit downstairs. The staff could not have been more helpful.

Excellent dining. Recommended trying some of the sides, especially the carrot and pesto.

Booked the kitchen table for six and had a fabulous meal and night out. The food was fantastic and the staff friendly and attentive. Upstairs may have the Michelin star but The Larder is by no means a poor relation. Thoroughly recommended.

Eight visits later it is still a 5 out of 5. Consistently brilliant. Hard to be critical as this place is top notch. You won't be disappointed. Whoever we dine with all comment on how fantastic Larder is.

This place is truly incredible! Beautifully decorated with a modern and chic look, the staff and their outstanding service is amazing. We came here for my birthday celebration and it was worth every penny. A great outing - we will be back for sure! Highly recommend this place, especially the bottomless. You won't be disappointed.
