This is one of the nicest Indian takeaways I have ever had. For real authentic food this is the place to go. We always get the butter chicken curry which is beautiful, tasty and cooked to perfection. They use chicken thigh which is even better. The jeera rice is beautiful too. I always add the paneer rolls and samosas and they are so tasty. I would highly recommend you try this place. Staff are very friendly and attentive too.

Samosas are tasteless. The keema ones have more peas than mince lamb. The potatoe ones are bland and just mashed potatoe with a bit of masala. Not how traditional Punjabi samosas should be. Would not go back 👎🏽

Clean and up-to-date decor inside. Service was good. We ordered veg manchurian, chole, plain naan and paneer wraps. The currys were very flavoursome but perphaps too much so, as in lots of packet spices were added. The paneer wraps were delicious with their slight british twist of salad cream. Would go for the wrap again.

Today we experienced a disaster in customer service and in the quality of taste. Lakshmi has become very vain, thinking it is the best in Wolverhampton, yet some of my family members that used to go to Lakshmi and two of my neighbours have all started to go Kashmir Sweet Centre and the new outlet opened in Park fields as the quality of food has gone downhill. On top of this Lakshmi is the only place in the West Midlands that charge for a small amount of chutney for your starters where as others give it to you free. Yet I have learnt my lesson and will start going to other establishments.

I have had a lot of bad indian food, but the poor quality of this food takes the cake. They shouldn't even be allowed to serve people. Chicken tikka tasted like rubber, the samosas was surely reheated in microwave, the chaat was a waste of time. Even the chai was really bad. Stay away or regret!

Very good Punjabi home cooking served in a really friendly and informal Indian cafe style. Prices unbelievably reasonable, extremely good value in price and portion. The Sag (spinach) really tasty as good as I have had anywhere. What I really liked was that not only does the cafe serve tandoori breads but also have traditional Tewa (griddle) roti. Excellent choice oft traditional Indian sweets including Ras Malai. Service a little slow but well worth the wait. A small car park at the rear. Will definitely go again.

We visited her on a saturday evening for the buffet, there were about 3 lack lustre dishes of which none appealed. To me "buffet" symbolises choice of which there was none. The food was lukewarm and looked as though it had been sat there for hours. At 8.95 it was the most expensive 3 spoonfuls of rice i have ever eaten, needless to say never again

Whenever we have to order an authentic Indian takeaway, this is the place. The vegetarian food is second to none for the price! I cant say they do the best meat dishes as I've had better around the area. However, the vegetarian dishes are all very good. The sweets again I'm not very sure as haven't had them. Only if they had a delivery service :(. Their best dish has been the samosa chat.

Hello my name Is Kaz, Kaz akhstan and i recently made a purchase for 10 boxes of ludos from Lakshmi's sweet center. I arrived at the shop at around 8:30pm. I waited for approximately 45 minitues waiting for my ludos. And i asked the girl at the till where they were. She simply said to me 'not ready sir' I then waited another 45 mins and they still weren't ready. Therefore i was disgusted with this atrocious service. Lucklily Uppals sweet centre is down the road were i enjoyed 15 boxes of ludoos, i even got a hello from the girl behind desk. I even got a free box for the kids, rishi and taranjit, as i waited so long for Lakshmis service. I then went back to Lakshmis sweet centre to prove a point, however this again did not help as they said they could not provide a refund.Thank you for reading, i do not recommed Lakshmis.

On the off chance I was down the Dudley road in wolverhampton as I do everyday where I stumbled upon a gem a place called lakshmis I went in at about lunchtime was greeted with a friendly smile and asked to take a seat I looked at the menu and chose a chicken tikka wrap a speciality as the waiter described to me I have to say he was right it was superb not to spicy and very filling it was a dish that tantalised the taste buds I'm definitely going back again with my family

Visited lakshami sweet centre for a family members birthday. We had the buffet. I have grown up with lakshami and many a time visited the small corner shop where they used to trade. Having not been for some time I was looking forward to this event. Disappointed is not the right word. The food is very poor quality the meat cuts are fatty undercooked, and drenched in oil, all the mains on the buffet are made from the same Thorka (base sauce). I would agree with the previous reviewer they are trading off their previously brilliant reputation. It's such a shame as lakshami used to be synonymous with delicious food. Do not bother spending your money here.

Lakshmi used to be a staple hallmark of Dudley Road in Wolverhampton, with great food, great prices and friendly service. Ever since moving into much larger premises, the quality of food has fallen sharply and the service worsened. This is no longer fresh Pujabi cuisine, it's microwaved spice base with the cheapest cuts of lamb and chicken thrown in. The same base is used throughout the dishes and the constant reheating leaves it oily and greasy. This is exceptionally poor quality of food and I genuinely pity anyone who thinks this is representative of 5 star Indian cuisine.

If you are visiting Lakshmi for a restaurant style dining experience this is not for you. If you are visiting Lakshmi for authentic tasty indian cuisine within a low key unique cafe style setting then you will not be dissapointed. I have been to Lakshmi twice and cant rate the authentic flavour of the curries enough. On both occassions the venue was very busy with both take-away and eat-in orders being placed. The chicken curry was one of the best I have ever tasted and the depth of authentic flavours really shone through. The setting is not the most warm or comfortable in the world, but if authenticity is what you are looking for you must give Lakshmi a try.

I feel that the below review is entitled to an opinion but not necessarily to insult the staff or owner by stereotyping. However, I do feel that communication is key in restaurants and this can be improved slightly. As customers, we do like to be greeted with a smile and receive attention and this too can be improved. The reason why Lakshmi are receiving an excellent rating despite my above criticism is due to my immediate family using Lakshmi over the last 15+ years on special occasions for sweets and savouries. My husband and step daughter always request samosas and spring rolls as this is their favourite and the spice is quite controlled. We wished that the chutneys both mint and tamarind would be free of charge as this used to be something that Lakshmi did cater for in the past. We have always taken food out and possibly sat in the restaurant twice, the food cannot be at any fault. If you're unsure about a certain dish, don't hesitate to ask the question as the waiter can explain it in detail. Overall, we was very happy to hear that Lakshmi expanded its business in the recent years not too far from where the sweet centre was first located.

I am astonished by the comments made in the first review. We have been going to the Lakshmi Sweet Centre for a number of years (prior to it moving to their new premises). The food has always been magnificent. I wouldn't call the Sweet Centre a restaurant and it doesn't pretend to be. Essentially it is an Asian cafeteria. If you want Silver service, this is not the place to go. However, if you want authentic, honest Asian cuisine with down to earth and friendly service then you won't find anywhere better. The food is simply wonderful. Whilst it is true to say that the food is unlike the tens of Indian restaurants in Wolverhampton this is undoubtably because it is much more authentic than the processed tasteless slop most of the restaurants serve up. The comments made I. The first review are, in my experience, completely unfair and not in line with what I recognise the establishment to be. The fact that the place is packed on most nights (by mainly Asian diners) suggests that the first reviewer must have caught them on an off day. Don't let the first review put you off. The food is wonderful; just don't expect fine dining service.

We have been regulars to Lakshmi since it opened. We come all the way over from Sutton Coldfield for the food. We have had the buffet but we prefer to order from the menu and today we had the mixed grill. It is priced at £9.00 in total and is enough for the two of us although we often have some naan or a vegetable side dish. We bring our own wine and Peter, the very helpful waiter, provides wine glasses and a jug o water. The food is piping hot and authentically tasty. After you taste this food you will never eat at another 'anglicised' Indian restaurant / takeaway again.Frankly, some of the previous reviews which I have read are unwarranted if not malicious.

I feel that many of these reviews are unfair. The restaurant doesn't aim to be high brow, the food speaks for itself and it is delicious. The restaurant is still relatively new, so there may be issues fine-tuning how things work, for example the number of staff serving tables, but staff are friendly and very hospitable.Lakshmi is simple and unpretentious, offering a range of food from the buffet; such as, fish pakora, lamb, chicken, dal (delicious) and a wide selection of indian sweets. The price of the buffet is very reasonable too, less than £10 a head. After travelling in India, this food is the most comparable to food I have eaten, and have recommended it to family and friends. There is a real sense of community and family ethic, made evident by the families that eat here. We will always return to Lakshmi as it is very reasonable and the food really is remarkable.

The food was shocking and my father found a small stone in his chana. We informed the guy who did bring out another plate and saw what was in there. The food was cold and we told the guy once we got his attention after a couple of minutes. It took him and the staff another 10mins to bring it out.The service is terrible, food is cold and messy. Definitely just buy there takeaway stuff as eating in is not a safe option!

Three of us went in, and we were seated. The waiter then brought us a jug of water with TWO glasses. He came to take our order and we had to request an additional glass, and that he exchange one which was dirty - no apology for the unclean glassware. We ordered three items to share between us. The food came quickly, but not before we'd noticed a kitchen staff member with questionable hygiene - his fingers were too close to his nose! The cutlery was on the whole okay, but one fork obviously hadn't been washed properly. Two dishes were okay, but the paneer pakoras were rubbery and bland, and not very fresh! We called the waiter over and explained that these were not up to scratch. He was most offended and explained they'd sold truckloads of this item and no one had ever complained - perhaps no one had every survived them. He walked off mid-conversation (we were very polite) but didn't accept this was an item that had been made fresh that day. He walked off mid-conversation and then was seen chatting to his colleague, both firing evil looks across the counter. A few moments later he returned and asked if he could take the offending items away.Fortunately no further discussion was required, as they had kindly removed the cost of the pakoras from the bill.We wanted a quick bite to eat after a great day out, sadly, we all were left feeling annoyed at how we'd been treated and what a waste of meal - plenty of better places nearby! I would recommend you eat here only if you don't mind how poor the hygiene is, how tasteless the food can be and how badly you are treated if you raise a complaint.
