I visited with friends a few weeks back. Superb food. Good service. Some of the best tasting Curry I've had. Even the onion salad was an explosion of flavour. Highly recommend.

There isn’t much in Wolverhampton City Centre when 000s turn up for a gig so we ended up here for food. Both ordered Pakora - 3 small pieces of doughy stodge with spices. Pretty poor. Mains were ok. In my local Indian restaurant at home I’d have paid around £15. If that had been the case here I’d have been ok. It’s £35 a head (off a 2 course menu). Half a bottle of Cobra £6.75 Glass of red £11 - you can buy the bottle for £8 in a supermarket. They have a sign referencing ‘michelin recommendation’. I can find nothing on the Michelin website. Maybe there is a Mr and Mrs Michelin living locally who have been?

Goodness, what a little gem. We arrived with about 40 minutes to spare before a concert and asked whether they could accommodate us. Short answer, yes. Long answer is that the staff were friendly and bent over backwards for us. The food was exceptional and was as far away from a bog standard curry as you can get. Just exquisite flavours applied to good quality meat and vegetables. Yes, a little bit pricey, but so worth it.

A large groups of us came in Saturday night and the service was not up to scratch. Had to ask 4 times for a drink every single time we ordered, no cutlery between courses. All the pre ordered starters came out and I ate mine alone 20 minutes later the spiciness from the chicken tikka was next level and blew my eyeballs out so I couldn't taste the dish or my main. Curry was very oily and unfortunately my stomach couldn't cope and before I'd left the restaurant I had a nasty experience. We had dirty tables continuously and had to stack the plates and put them on chairs nearby. Not enough staff on and mediocre food at best. Hardly any drinks choices and just not an enjoyable experience. I've eaten in better grill pubs for a curry I think they need to fix the basics

Our first visit since pre COVID days was an absolute delight. The food was as good as we remembered with each dish having its own unique and distinctive flavour. The approach from all staff by whom we were served was excellent, attentive but not overbearing. The price point was appropriate for the the high quality of food served. We will be returning soon.

A wonderful evening at the Bilash, a great family run business. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the set meal, starter and main and everything tasted out of this world. The naan was the nicest we had ever had, you could even see the chefs making it! The restaurant is lovely and would love to return but it would be more for special occasions due to the price- it is the higher end price wise when dining out. Thank you for a lovely evening.

This was a special dining occasion for us. The staff were attentive and explained the menu and made recommendations. The food was excellent, as we expected. We were pleasantly surprised that Indian deserts (gulab jamun and gajjar sweet) were made in house and they were sublime - best we've had. There's more choice of Indian desserts at the weekend. Probably the best Indian restaurant in Wolverhampton, though we've not tried them all!

Food was exceptional, we had starters and mains, both superb with well balanced flavours. As someone who is dairy free, we felt completely confident about the food being served to us, this is because the chef talked us through the menu and completely understood what we required. The customer service was incredible, super friendly. We were celebrating a birthday and was made to feel incredibly special. As foodies, this is one restaurant experience we will never stop recommending, well worth the 5 star review, well worth the money and well worth the experience. Thankyou Bilash for making my husbands birthday feel special and we cannot wait to return.

We was a large group of 25 people, our guests came from all over the country to dine at Bilash, the front of house looked after us all with so much care and attention, drinks kept flowing. The meal arranged by Mo was just magnificent, every dish was magical. He prepared a seafood and Vegetarian menu for the main course, Selection of Lobster, Halibut , sea bass, along with Okra, Aubergines, spinach all 3 Vege dishes where do individual we never tasted anything like it, The starter was a Bengali Roasted stuffed chicken cooked in the tandoor, it was WOW , can’t tell you what it was stuffed with but every member of the family has commented how delicious and unique the food was. Dessert was a combo of Gulab Jaman, Gazar halwa served with kulfi. It was pricey , it all comes at a cost when you realise how good the quality of the ingredients and the cooking is. Look forward to visiting in the next couple of months.

We had a delightful evening with Mo and his family at the Bilash. The welcome was warm and engaging, the food was excellent and served beautifully as it has been on every occasion we have been visiting the restaurant. We would highly recommend the Bilash. Our only concern is that although the wines are good they are expensive and perhaps a range of wines at a more moderate price range would be appropriate. Rex & Lorraine Tams

We went for Valentine’s, the website said it would be a special valentines menus. It wasn’t. It is double the price of any other Indian restaurant but the quality is no better. I ordered a fish dish which I sent back. The wine is extortionate, I order a £50 bottle of Chardonnay(the cheapest they had), they say they had run out and offered a pouilly fume which we accepted then a pinot Grigio came, and they charged £60 for the pouilly fume. £160 for one starter, two mains and a bottle of pinot. Would not recommend.

Attending a concert at The Civic Halls, which is a stones throw away and decided on Bilash for our meal. The venue is a Michelin star restaurant, so we expected service as well as food to be to a high standard. On entering, we were asked if we'd booked, which we hadn't and were directed to a small table, where we were asked if that was OK. The restaurant was busy but not overly. Eventually we were asked if we'd like poppadoms prior to receiving the menu which we said one each along with the chutneys and pickles, we were encouraged to have 2 each which we agreed, on ordering drinks, myself a glass of Merlot and my husband a lime and soda as he was the designated driver tonight. Eventually, the poppadoms arrived, 1 each with the waitress telling me she did not know what Merlot was and if there was anything else I would like instead. Now remind me, this is a Michelin star restaurant?! I then ordered a house red. Where could I go wrong with that? Don't bother. I've had more satisfying glasses of blackcurrant cordial! Food - the menus where given after the drinks were served, and the food order was taken after we'd eaten our 1 poppadom, from a limited choice of food menu, no prices for poppadoms, as previous people have commented. Dishes the cheapest is £28, whilst tasty is no better than we've had in local Indian restaurants, and we've had many! Rice we ordered boiled rice was again encouraged to have saffron rice as it would suit our choice of main courses, plain rice arrived, this was £7 a dish, I would recommend one between 2 of you, this is more than enough, and cost effective. Service is slow in every aspect, we may have been unlucky, but we didn't get what we ordered. the atmosphere is nothing special and generally lacking Our bill was £98 was it worth it? no, not one bit.

I was expecting so much more. The serving staff, including the maitre d, didn't know the menu, there was dance music coming from the kitchen, the floor upstairs was covered in cardboard, toilets were shabby, food was decent but way way way overpriced. We left thinking we could've spent a third of money and had a better experience elsewhere. Frankly, there was no experience, it's just a standard Indian restaurant that charges £8 for a bowl of rice.

Food was average, I fear that they are resting on their past competition glory. Food was also very expensive, £20 for a starter of tandoori chops. We were attending a concert at The Halls; the restaurant is a stone's throw from the venue and so three of us booked an early table. It was encouraging to see that there were already people seated in the downstairs area when we arrived shortly after 5pm. The welcome was warm and although we weren't given menus on arrival, we were offered poppadums and drinks. We ordered six poppadums and three small bottles of Cobra - they didn't have any draught lager or large bottles of Cobra. The poppadums and drinks arrived and, eventually, the menus. There was a 'Christmas' set menu at £35 (starter, main, rice or naan) and an a la carte menu. We didn't really want a starter as we had planned to move on and meet some other friends for drinks before the concert. Looking at the a la carte menu, we were surprised to see that we were obliged to order a starter and a main, at which point we agreed my might as well order from the set menu. We ordered three veggie pakora and three shahi paneer, two naan and a rice from the set menu. Bear in mind that on the a la carte menu, the pakora starter comes in at an eye-watering £15 and the curry £22, plain rice at £5 and naan at £6, so we felt like we were getting some value for money at least. The food was nice; no better than anything I've had from our local restaurant and no worse, just more than double the price. We ordered a few more bottles of Cobra and I had a glass of wine - there is no wine by the glass priced on the menu and so I didn't know what I was drinking, except that it was wet and white, or how much it was going to cost. When the bill arrived, we were gobsmacked. The bottles of Cobra were £6 each - that works out at £9 a pint - and we'd had eight of them. The poppadoms, which as we were offered them on arrival and they weren't anywhere on the menu, we foolishly assumed were complimentary were - wait for it - £2.50 each. We had spent £15 on poppadoms before we even ordered any actual food. The bill came in at £165 for the three of us; I managed to negotiate the poppadoms to be removed from the bill, citing daylight robbery. We also noted that the diners on the tables to the left and right of us were equally shocked, with one diner putting away their debit card and swapping it for a credit card and two gents splitting the bill on another table scratching their heads as to how their modest dinner had come in at nearly £70 a head. I realise that this review is mostly about money and hardly anything to do with food, but, as I've intimated, the latter was nothing to shout about. The restaurant is tired in appearance and the service wasn't exactly slick. The front of house/manager was welcoming and professional but not very awake to the fact that the restaurant is charging for things by stealth, in the middle of a cost of living crisis. If you're happy to pay this much for Indian food and want an amazing night out, go a couple of stops on the train into Brum and visit Asha's or Varanasi where the food, decor and service are absolutely outstanding. You'll even save yourself a few quid in the process.

The food was excellent, really tasty and portion just the right size. Is the 2 course £30 ‘deal’ worth it over your standard 3 course £15-20 in other restaurants? Probably not. It’s the drinks that will make you wince. £12 for two 330ml bottles of Madri that was offered to me as a ‘pint’, that just doesn’t sit right with me. So our already expensive £60 meal was bumped to £80 because of three drinks, of which one was a coke. Service was excellent though! One of those ‘tried it once and that’ll do’ places.

Last visited a few years ago, it’s lost its vibe it didn’t feel as special as when I’ve been before. Ordered Prosseco which menu said was a small bottle (you can usually get about 1.5 glasses from) but we were served a glass of Prosseco each (£9) we ordered the poppadoms (as you do) the yogurt mint sauce was really spicy, not to my taste but other sauces were nice. The menu came it was £30 for 2 courses (this was a Thursday night) no other choice. If I’d known I wouldn’t have ordered the poppadoms. I had the fish to start then a lamb dish. Both were nice but salty. The saffron rice was lovely, I might have enjoyed more if I’d been able to order just one course, I left most of my main. My friend had chicken madras and that had lots of flavours in but again it was salty. Total bill was £82 which while not extortionate felt expensive for what we had. Everyone else in there it seemed were regular customers so it’s popular with some but as a returnee can’t say I would go back again. Lost its sparkle for me.

Disappointed £30 set Menu on a Saturday night. Not a lot of choice on it, drinks expensive, £2 a papadum. No other choice you had to have the set menu, and as there wasn’t a lot to chose on it and the choice of nann was plain or garlic that’s it….. your kind of left forced to have food that you may not have really chosen if you had been given a better menu, Papadum not included on Set menu.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. There was pride in both the service and the quality of the menu offered, with plenty of choice. It’s a lovely established venue serving great tasting food.

We booked the Bilash as a treat for our anniversary through email and were met by a instant response from the owner. On arriving the restaurant was surprisingly very quiet for a Saturday evening which at first seemed alarming. From the second we were seated...

AWFUL SERVICE. RUDE STAFF. Booked a table as owner said he could cook oil free if we booked in advance. I advised them we needed 3 oil free meals. We had family make the trip across country and we called to confirm, but Bilash then told us they could not do what they had said, and refused to let me speak with the owner. So, meal cancelled for the birthday boy who’d travelled 3 hours for this treat. Disgusting service. Rude front of house also. The way he wouldn’t let us speak to owner made me think it was his error in not informing the owner/ chef and the owner would have actually obliged willingly. We were planning many more meals there, but have already changed next week’s celebration and a friend group meal to elsewhere. This restaurant should not be in a good restaurant guide.

Very disappointing. My meal was very salty , very difficult to eat. My partner had lamb chops for starter and were burnt.

Strange one this as some of the food was out of this world and other bits were just a bit average. The prawn starter is possibly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had, absolutely outstanding, where as the main course lamb shank was just...
