Lakeside Takeaway in West Dunbartonshire

Been looking for a good Chinese since we moved to Dumbarton and the Lakeside is fantastic, freshly cooked food and very tasty. Quick delivery as well. Battered salt & chilli chips which not many places seem to do. Some of the portions could be a little bigger but that's maybe just me being greedy!

since the old owners left the new owner has raised prices twice during the pandemic while reducing the portion sizes, food quality and taste has changed (for the worse), we used to order from this establishment every weekend, but no more

We have a takeaway from Lakeside on a fairly regular basis, and I can honestly say that it is the only takeaway that I have been to that sells food to the same high standard every time. On this occasion we ordered a meal for 4 (myself, my partner, my sister and my niece). As usual we only ordered main courses as the portion sizes are pretty filling. I had my usual (king prawn chow mien with fine noodles), my partner had chicken with cashew, my sister had chicken with green peppers and black bean sauce, and my niece had lemon chicken. Having sampled all of the dishes I can say that they were all delicious. We phoned our order in, and collected it 10 minutes later. Very happy!

Ordered over £60 worth of food for 8 adults, to be served raw chicken in both the satay and chicken wings - which were reheated. The salt and chilli chips were just salt and every meal was devoid of flavour. The Kung Po chicken wasn’t bad as it wasn’t anything as there was no flavour. Very poor would not recommend to my worst enemy. A few slices of toast was needed afterwards. Avoid.

Pleasant staff very helpful took time to answer questions about dishes on the menu simple dish well made would use again .

I use this takeaway on a regular bases. Always plenty and piping hot. They will amend orders to suite likes and dislikes.

ordered a spicy chicken curry extra hot. wasn't very keen on it as it was very dry!!! usually enjoy meals there ......

Due to chinese new year red cap was closed. Decided to give the new lakeside a go. Placed an order for delivery and when it arrived half the order was wrong. I called to tell them this they apologised and would send the correct parts out. I had suspected that i had been overcharged and after adding it up via the menu i had been by £3-4. I had to call them back to advice them of this mistake too. From the original order and the second part that arrived over 30mins later. The chicken satay on the skewer was consumable at best. Salt and pepper chicken was nice. PrAwn crackers where stale. Beef curry was binned after two bites. I was extreamly disappointed with new lakeside to say the least. I accept that mistakes happen but how you deal with them can make such a difference. When the delivery driver came to the door with the correct parts of the order. (Not the fault of the driver!!!!) he had been told to ask for the food that was sent out wrong. I have no idea what the intentions where for that and I'm not sure if i really want to know. I thought that was particularly appalling!! Overall the order was a disaster from start to finish. Food was poor only one dish was nice out of four. Customer service was poor(asking for the wrong food back!! Not even sending out fresh rice to go with the correct main that had taken over 30mins to arrive) In todays world with social media and TripAdvisor etc. There really is no excuse for this level. If you want to run a successful takeaway the standard i experienced will not benefit you in anyway. I needless to say will not be a returning customer nor will i be recommending to anyone.

Got a mixture of filled breakfast rolls. No complaints..all good. Quite a good choice on the menu, ideal when all you want is a quick bite to eat at a reasonable price.

The Lakeside is out Chinese takeaway of choice, the food is always hot and tasty and delivery is very quick, the staff are always friendly.

Tried this place after another takeaway I used to use went rapidly down hill, wouldn't go anywhere else now! Great portion sizes, quick service, fresh and above all tasty!

The person taking the order on the phone was courteous, order was ready at suggested time. The Munchy box is tasty bit of everything, It came in a pizza box and we expected a disappointment but we were so wrong! It was well cooked, the box was full of lots of tasty treats. I would fully recommend it.👍

Always buy chinese takeaway from here . Service is always efficient . Food great and never disappointed , would recommend this takeaway to anyone .

I have used this restaurant on numerous occasions and can't fault it. Staff are pleasant food is good and good portions. Creamy chicken is one of my families favourite dishes from here.

Lovely food served quickly always return back, kind staff and always pleasant recommend salt and pepper chicken and best sweet and sour sauce!

This is the best Chinese food take away in the area. Always made fresh. Salt and pepper chips are lovely. Great varied menu. Service is great and always cheery.

Food is so inconsistent that I no longer use this place. One day its great and the next its rotten. No matter how many times you ask for no prawns in certain dishes you get prawns.
