This place has got to be one of the most ripoff for pricing of a drink in the Lewisham area that I have ever encountered. To charge £7.25 for a pint of beer is outrageous. Whilst Moretti might be seen a drink that such pricing can be justified, somehow I doubt it, the price in other nearby pubs is way below the Ladywell Tavern. AVOID.

Was visiting some mates who live in the area and decided to come here for some drinks. I was surprised to be honest, it didn't look like much on the outside but the inside was lovely (especially the garden , which I guess is technically the outside again!). Bar tenders were really lovely and helpful (especially the girl but I didn't get her name!) , greeting us as as we came in, having a bit of a laugh over the bar with us and letting us try a few beers and then saying goodbye as we left. All in all great atmosphere and drinks menu. Bit of a shame the kitchen was not open but they were more than happy to let us bring food in so not that bad at all really. Will definitely come back when i'm in the area again

I've just had the pleasure of dining at the Ladywell Tavern an I must say it exceeded all my expectations! The roast pork with the most delicious crackling I've ever tasted was a standout dish, and my wife's succulent and flavorful chicken was a true delight. Even my picky eater son couldn't resist finishing his kids chicken meal, a rarity indeed! The fantastic music playing in the background had me shazaming a couple of tracks to add to my own playlist. The service was top-notch, and the vast selection of beers on tap was the cherry on top of a perfect dining experience. I highly recommend the Ladywell Tavern for a memorable meal with great food, ambiance, and service. Five stars all the way!!! We have just moved to the area, and have been looking for a new local - I have found it! Looking forward to trying the weekday menu!!

We had booked in advance for 15 people. The table set aside was for 8! So we had to bring over another table and all the chairs. Ordered drinks and food - an hour later the first food arrived, 30 mins later 3 other people got food and then the vegans were told their meals weren't available but they could have cauliflower cheese with roast potatoes and cabbage and gravy. One of our party who had ordered starters was then told there was no more food anywhere in the kitchen! So people gave her some of their food! It was bizarre and laughable. They reduced the price of the meal but they couldn't split the bill - it really is a joke of a pub. Don't go...

Allowed aggressive drunks to harass us. They clearly had too much to drink and got fixated on me and my partner. The pub allowed them to continue until we left.

Went to the Tavern on Tuesday night. As usual, all three ales were off (which might be a godsend, because they all taste like soap, due to the pub not cleaning the pipes properly). We were then informed that the Guinness was off, due to "the nozzle being broken". I then asked for Brixton Pale Ale, only to be told that was off as well, as was Gamma Ray. I don't drink lager or cider, so I opted for a rum & coke. During all this discussion the member of bar staff's attitude was of complete boredom, like she couldn't wait to be rid of us. Speaking of which, the Sunday before we had attempted to get served at 8:40pm, only to be told that the pub was shut, despite the website saying it closes at 10pm on a Sunday. This pub is in danger of losing all it's trade through a classic blend of incompetence, overcharging and contempt for its' customers. We really want to support our local pub, but The Ladywell Tavern seems intent on driving people away with West End prices and unreliable opening hours. Come on, Ladywell Tavern, sort yourselves out!

We took our 4 year old son for lunch here, having been pre- lockdown and always enjoyed the atmosphere and service while finding the food very average. But with things opening up we were eager to go anywhere for a change of scenery! The garden has been done up nicely, they were installing heaters and strings of lights. All covid compliant and a friendly welcome. There were 3 choices on the kids menu, none including any vegetables...I know its a pub but was hoping for at least some token roughage. Nothing on the Sides list either other than a salad. So we ordered our little one chicken and chips, we also went for buttermilk chicken burgers. The latter were huge and freshly cooked, also very spicy... fine by us as we love spicy food but hadn't been expecting it. The chicken was good with crisp lettuce... though bland tomatoes and the buns fell apart promptly. We looked at our son who was turning an interesting shade of pink... and realised his chicken had the same peppery batter as ours and we ended up having to remove all the batter for him, so along with some chips (and a pale tomato slice that I donated him from my burger), wasn't a great kid's meal for £8. The menu has changed since pre-lockdown, for the better... wish I'd tried the banh mi sandwiches. The toilets were clean but no hot water or working hand dryer, so sort of felt like being in a park toilet. We would have politely mentioned the issue with the kids meal and bathrooms, but the waiter never returned after bringing the food or asking how everything was. There were 4 other occupied tables at the time, so didn't seem that busy. Would go back for a drink but in two minds about trying the food again.

Just had an unpleasant experience at this pub where we popped in for a pint. Due to the pandemic we naturally had to wait for what we thought was service at the table. Only it didn't work out that way. Apparently, in an age of social distancing, you have to have a smartphone to order a drink at this place and do this by logging into its website, the young disinterested woman who 'served' us informed. We tried to get access to its site but it wouldn't accept the email address apparently needed at this gaff. The young woman who was doing nothing in particular informed us that we had probably entered the email address incorrectly. After three attempts, this was not the case and so we called her over again to the table. She sidled up with the impatient air of a new generation not accustomed to the grey unsavvy. No, it must have been us. Maybe a space introduced somewhere in the email at the beginning or end? She seen this before. No matter what she'd seen before the email address was correct. I asked her how some people in their 80s may cope without at smartphone, hoping that she may get the message and get us some drinks.Well, apparently, they wouldn't get a drink at the Ladywell Tavern. What about the blind? No.The infirm? No.She was Generation Covid, and under the new regime we couldn't stay for a drink without an email address to make the order ourselves ONLINE.Defeated by the bureaucracy and lack of empathy by Covid Carol. (Not her real name. ) I mean couldn't she just lean across the bar and order the drinks for us? No. No. No. The rules. At the Talbot across the park, another young woman greeted us - this time with a smile under the mask. No phone needed. No probs. She couldn't do enough for us. Like some crisps with those drinks? Well we haven't got an emails address. No problem.I should point out that we didn't eat at the Ladywell Tavern, Nor shall we in future drink there.

Visited for the first time with partner and 10year old. Mixed review of food as whilst on the main tasty and well prepared the portions were small and were really not worth the money. The prices were that of most pubs round here so don't have an issue with the price point by not good value for money. I had the duck breast with shallot sauce, potato gratin and green veg. The duck breast was beautifully cooked as was the potato but the veg was just and a very small portion.Partner had a chicken Kiev with small portion mash. The Kiev was tasty but deep fried in appearance. That said he enjoyed it and our daughter tried it and loved it. Daughter had a burger and chunky chips. She enjoyed it but again the portion was disappointingly small. In fact the smallest burger any of us have ever seen when eating out. Was about the size of a macdonalds happy meal burger yet was from the adult menu. The chips were small in portion yet sparse in quantity and at £13 was simply poor value for money. Overall the food was nice but not plentiful and seemed to missing those touches which make the difference between really good home cooked food and eating out food. Wouldn't take much to get the portions and flavours bang on. Every table was full but did seem to lack a buzz and atmosphere, felt rather flat even with a really good dj using decks. It's just nearly but not quite there yet but will return to see if it's developed. Worth a visit for the beer garden alone though, it's amazing.

Loved the new decor, busy vibe and the beer garden looks awesome. Don't love all the buggies, crying babies and people walking their toddlers around all over the place. I go to the pub to relax and this is far from relaxing. The mulled cider is delicious and the roasts looked really good, but unfortunately the small plates we had were very poor quality and portions extremely stingy (£6 for 4 tiny little cod goujons that came straight out the freezer is just a complete rip off). The servers were very dopey and the waitress walked right past us with our food, despite the large number written on the table. We would have stayed longer and ordered some more to eat had it not been for the disappointment.

After 2 months of prohibition for the Ladywell area, we finally got our pub back on Wednesday. I was shocked at how cool it looked! If the old Ladywell Tavern was anything to go by, I don't think anybody was expecting this dramatic chance. The garden was like walking into a dream world with cows on walls, massive paintings, ping pong, garden games and fake grass - I think it's called Astro turf. The inside looks industrial with cool paintings (I know one of them is Bill Hicks). But most important - the bar is packed with craft beer in bottles, cans and draft. They do serve some of the old Taverns crowd pleasers also like Red Stripe and a Guinness, but the overwhelming feel is that this is craft and cool. My mates and I came I just as they served free food as tasters of the menu. It was amazing, but at this point I wasn't even surprised anymore. Staff were friendly and chatty and was clearly enjoying the opening. It was packed inside and we struggled to find a seat for about 20 Minutes of so. I'm so happy and from what I could hear, do is everyone else. Well done Ladywell Tavern.

My partner and I have been looking forward to the opening on the Ladywell Tavern for a while, after the recent closure our local. A rare night off work for my partner, I thought we'd give it a go, and grab a few drinks and some food.We arrived to a busy pub, and waited at the bar to be served, and waited, and waited... it seemed the bar staff were more interested in chatting with someone they knew on the other side, casually ignoring the other people waiting (not just us). At this point, I reserved judgment - they'd only just opened, maybe it was teething problems.. We tried to find a seat before we were served. There were several tables that had been reserved 30 mins prior, with no-one sat on them, which resulted in several customers just coming in and leaving. It was obvious the customers had not arrived for their reservations, but the signs has still been left there.I was told that there was only one cider (which was my least favourite) and then after it was served, saw 3 or 4 types of different bottled ciders right behind the barman. My partner asked for one, beer, "we've run out" and a second "we've run out" and finally got to one on the third attempt. Then we were told "oh by the way we're not serving food tonight, but it's really good". There was no mention of this on social media - our evening was rapidly declining. We eventually found a seat - but by that time I was ready to leave. My partner downed his beer, and I left the pub with 3/4 of my pint still on the table. Something that I don't think I've done ever. The whole evening (15mins) was pretty disappointing from start to finish. I would like to give the pub a second try.... but I don't think that it will be anytime soon. Such a shame.

My husband and I really like this pub, it’s close to the park and dog friendly, so perfect for popping in after walking our dog. There’s comfy couches and a real log fire which we absolutely love. The only issue is the food isn't very good and if only it were a bit better we would be in this pub all the time. That and they seem to run out of wood for the fire fairly often, which is a massive disappointment after a cold walk through the park.

Popped in here after a walk round ladywell park on one of the coldest days. The pub looks cosy and the staff were friendly offering us a taste of the beer. Always a great start. We ordered soup to warm us up and sat down on the sofas. Surprisingly the fire wasn't roaring on a cold day. After 10 min we realised the pub had no heating on at all and all other customers were wearing coats. It was freezing. Even the barmaid had a woolly hat on. The soup arrived and looked freshly made. But to our horror it tasted like flavoured water with tomato skin for added texture. It had no seasoning and you could bearly taste the tomato! How can you get tomato soup so wrong. This pub needs a little more warmth and better food for us to come back.

The Ladywell Tavern has been going for years, mostly as a dodgy old pub full of sad old men. The sad old men are still go, but the crowd is more diverse. Couples for a romantic meal, groups into music, and post work solo beer for those looking to decompress before heading home. There's a nice atmosphere, arty, cool but unpretentious. The food menu has change and I think a new chef. The burgers are stunning! The drinks as mixed as the clientele, from local ales, prosecco and a coffee machine. I love it here, especially in winter with the roaring open fire. If this were Hoxton the beardy skaters would be raving about it.

Pop into see a band , food looked nice but can't comment as we didn't eat. Thought the drinks were expensive a pint was £5.00 .Atmosphere was good , think it's a pub used by local . Would go again and the band was fab 'Red pea soup'

It's a shame the beer menu has changed as we used to love the old one. Also hate the fact you are charged 50p for using your card if total is under £10.That said, still a great pub for a relaxing drink and has a good range of games.

We used to go to this pub last year because the food was delicious but today we were really disappointed! I can only assume that the chef has changed. What a shame :(

Really nice food, beer and great atmosphere. Good service. The food is very tasty and very reasonably priced. Will go back. Got my mum's approval when she was there yesterday. Just remember to wipe / clean the tables a bit more often.

I've been for dinner here quite a few times with family and I've never been disappointed. The food is fresh, delicious and the portions are good too. The atmosphere is great there, it's very warm and welcoming. It's also a great place to visit if you just fancy a drink too!

They keep trying new ideas, many of which are promising and the only reason I have gone back on several occasions in hope that they will improve. The issue is not the ideas but the staff and especially the owner. They just do not seem bothered by anything; service is slow, if chatting with someone they just let you wait without taking your order, the food has been served cold numerous times and they have twice got my order wrong. It is such a pity as I would love to have a nice local pub, but I simply no longer wish to hand over money to people who don't care about me as a customer and who give the impression they don't want you there. The only reason i have given two stars is that the location is ideal and the building itself is quite lovely.

Have tried the new incarnation a few times now, as it did show promise...but it's just not getting any better...it's like they can't be bothered. The kitchen doesn't open for lunch when it says it will; it's cold inside; the order is often wrong (seriously, how hard is it to give the promised 'handful of chips' with each of the burgers??); the portion sizes have gone down already, so it's not great value... As I say, it did start with promise: good quality meat etc - thought the other issues were just teething troubles...but hasn't transpired as such and just felt that we were being taken the **** out of as gullible food-eating money-spending fools last time we visited...

Nicely refurbished pub, it did badly need it. However, I need to moan about the food experience as it is now based on a half hearted American themed diner hmmm. We did have two pretty decent burgers (blue cheese especially) but it was almost £15 for two burgers minus salad frills (plus an additional £3 for an over cooked portion of chips). But then to deliver them wrapped up on a naff plastic tray, underwhelmed the food and made you feel that for a dumbed down fast food experience you should just have gone to burger king instead at half the price, probably would have got a slice of tomato too! Not much wine choice now either and expensive at £6 for a large glass. Disappointed but really hope it improves

Back open and thank goodness! It's a difficult time for local pubs; many are closing down all around the country. Let's hope that the LT is going for years to come ... and its updated offering should safeguard that. The team have focused on what they do best: good beer and simple pub grub. Yes, their food is now burger focused, but what a range of excellent burgers: a monkfish burger (very nice - try it!), two different veggie burgers (the beanburger and mushroom/aubergine/goats cheese burgers are both excellent) and a variety of meat options (love the blue cheese option). Some might moan about the rustic feel to the pub, or the diner-inspired way that their burgers are served. But to them I'd say the following: (i) the food they serve is simple, well prepared and good quality; (ii) the beer they serve is excellent, with a great range of craft by the bottle and good real ale on tap; (iii) they have a fire and make the pub feel snug and friendly. I can't think of much more I'd want from my local ...

The pub is now like an extension of the art gallery out the back. Top quality beers but top prices too. If you want cheap rather than quality, don't come here. Food focuses on burgers, meat, fish, veg, I had the basic meat one and it was excellent and value at £6.50.

It's a real pity this place has so much potential however it's spoilt by the over abundance of children running around and parents who do not care or respect other people out for a drink. Obviously the au pair has the day off.

I'm missing this pub at the moment- currently under some kind of refurb, this is the local pub close to my parents and good friends, best place for a long catch up and a large glass of wine in a cosy atmosphere. The food isn't cheap but it's always tasty and good quality, not at all fussy- the burgers are by far the best in Ladywell. The gallery out the back has always got something interesting going on- I picked up some of my favorite clothes from a vintage stall there earlier this year.

Its a good 20min walk for me but my favorite pub in the area. Has everything a good boozer should have, fireplace, decent roast, good selection of drinks. Also has a nice chilled atmosphere. Staff are friendly and seem to always be in a good mood.

I live close so been there a few times, never disappointed. The Sunday roast is very good, especially the pork. Best chips south of the river. Real fireplace in the winter by the sofas. Not fancy but cosy, good environment with loads of things going on.

Forget pub food where everything is bought in and microwaved. The food at the Ladywell Tavern is prepared and cooked on the premises. Sometimes that means it takes a little time but that's fine as they always have some excellent wines by the glass or beer on tap. Monty, who runs the pub, takes great pride in sourcing high quality meat and fish which is reflected in the small, oft changing menu of specials. Sunday lunch is a definite triumph but you'll be wise to book as word is out to what a find this place is.

The Ladywell is a brilliant local that serves decent food. The staff is great and the landlord is amicable. The resident dog is a sweetie and sitting by the roaring fire with the dog at your feet really makes it cosy and homely. The pub really generates a country pub feel once you are inside despite being only down the road from ladywell station. They also have an art gallery attached with some interesting exhibitions. Overall a brilliant pub!

We popped in for a weekday lunch here, on an icy March day. It's a biggish old fashioned pub, not tarted up at all, with a fire, comfy chairs and quite a small menu. We chose the calimari in beer batter, which came with a simple salad and dip. Very nice indeed, but we especially liked the local beer, Brockley Bitter, really excellent. When we we there it was quiet, just a few regulars, but I hear it livens up in the evenings, with a larger menu, and lots going on. It's nice to recommend somewhere in this part of south London, which rather gets overlooked by reviewers.

Good place and good coffee, however, I felt under pressure when paying my bill because it didn’t include a service charge, and the lady said if we wanted to contribute the final bill wouldn’t include the service charge. Not that they don’t deserve some extra money, but if they want the service charge to be paid, please include it in the final bill - instead of asking the customers. We felt embarrassed and contributed. Overall, the place is good.

I stumbled across this little gem by pure accident. Such a warm, friendly place, all accepting. The Cortado (Piccolo) was amazing and the food I saw looked and sounded wonderful. Next time you are in the area, pop in, you won’t be disappointed .
