Lab 22 in Cardiff

Exceptional service by Dilon, very kind and respectful , he also recommend drinks to my liking . My girlfriend wasn't feeling well at the time so we had to leave early, the few drink that we had we're very pleasant. If you are in Cardiff be sure to give lab 22 a visit.

Cocktails were delicious and the service was amazing! Lottie and Holly were both so lovely and patient when I was trying to describe what I wanted 10/10!

After a couple of menu cocktails which were great Lottie sat with us and listened to what we liked and came back with 2 of the best cocktails we have ever had. Totally coming back here again!

Great cocktails and a nice atmosphere

Always great service here. Staff are so well trained, genuinely interested in getting you the thing your tastbuds want and friendly to the max. Reasonably priced bevs for the money too, which is nice to see (even if you go off menu, which seems to bring some genuine delight!). Has been a top spot for libations for a number of years and I don't see that changing.

Such a nice atmosphere here. Staff were absolutely amazing. Was served by David he was really chatty, super speedy, gave some great recommendations and made us feel at home. Went on bank holiday Monday which was suppose to be jazz/ 1920s vibe ... maybe could have played some more classic jazz numbers xD was more like 80s night music xD but still had a lovely time :) defo going again.

Monday nights at Lab are my favourite Easter egg of the Cardiff scene. Top tier cocktails, jazz, vibes, and location. The team are super helpful, always willing to help you choose or make something specially for you, and make you feel like a regular on your very first visit. Fantastic cocktails and a great vibe

If you’re looking for a spot in Cardiff, Lab is the place to go. The cocktails are amazing, and on Mondays it’s live jazz night- what more could you ask for. My server, David, made sure that we were filled up on drinks the entire night. Great place would go again

After about 4 years away from Cardiff we returned to this cocktail bar to see what had changed. Upon entering it may seem busy but we were were very quickly snapped up by the amazing staff and offered a seat and table service on a Friday night ! The menu is probably up there with my favourites for its fun. The wonderful David made sure to clear up questions we had and always seemed to appear just when our glasses were empty. This bar is and continues to to be the best spot for an experience you’ll remember!

This place is one of the best cocktail bars I have ever been to. Always a great atmosphere. Great service and the cocktails are amazing. The "Concrete Daisy" is a spin on a Margarita. It comes with this little honey biscuit/wafer. I have at least 2 every time I come here. Genuinely one of my favourite drinks. No trip to Cardiff (if drinking) is complete without a stop here.

Very cool upstairs cocktail lounge with, arguably, the smartest menu of theme drinks you'll see anywhere. They examine intellectual ideas like epistemology, ecology, and black holes to create delicious drinks. The menu contains a chart that actually addresses most of your questions about, "Is it sweet?" "What is the alcohol level?" and more. The staff are VERY warm and friendly. The atmosphere is chill and funky. The music when we were there was a mix of underground hip-hop and house. If you are into drinks as an 'experience,' definitely go here!

This is literally the best cocktail bar in Cardiff by far! We tried 4 different cocktails and enjoyed them all. Voyager was the best one in my view! I like it upstairs, it feels bit private and far from the crowd on the street. Staff are absolutely nice and helpful. We will definitely visit again!

We went for a cocktail masterclass for a birthday and cannot praise enough Lab 22 or the staff, especally Ed, our cocktail master. It was excellent value for money and fantastic quality cocktails and ingredients. The music and decor was great. We will all be going back in the near future.

Was meant to go on a date and was stood up but they were so soooooo lovely when I turned up solo. They made me feel very welcome; the jazz music was amazing (Monday evening jazz wooo) and the cocktails tasted even better

After reading about Lab 22 in the list of 50 best cocktail bars, I had to seek it out. Spent a few hours, was offered a table or bar space, and had a wonderful experience at the bar. Sam and other bartenders are warm, knowledgeable, and make everyone feel at home. Drink presentations are whimsical, attuned to the theme of a science lab, and taste great. 2000s hip hop on a Sunday night is a vibe. Can’t wait to visit Cardiff and Lab 22 again.

We had 3 cocktails each. My partner chose mostly whisky based cocktails and loved them. Chocolate whiskey limited edition, critical mass and point nemo. I chose a mixture. The gin and t twist menu item called life finds a way was nice - I recommend it only if you really like cantaloupe melon as it's a star flavour in the cocktail. Least favourite of mine of the night. My absolute favourite was the buckfast die young. I've never had a cocktail like this but I loved it. It's unique in its flavour : like an espresso martini but different. Lastly I asked the server for another unique drink maybe gin based and something continued to be experimental. They suggested a millionaire: gin and apricot liqueur. It was fantastic. Definitely recommend this cocktail bar. Lovely service. Great drinks. Make a reservation or it'll be hard to get in

First time back in dome time. The atmosphere here is very good. Music and good vibes but can still have a conversation. Service is excellent and the award winning cocktails. I love Critical Mass.

Went here as a last minute thing for my friend’s 22nd birthday on a Moonshine Monday. Was honestly such a good night & experience. Massive props to Dylan who was so attentive & helpful even when it was very busy. Made the night 10x better if that was possible. All staff are great & atmosphere is so light and welcoming. Concept is so cool. Drinks are stunning & very reasonable. Bartenders are great. :)

Visited on a Saturday expecting a nice relaxing atmosphere with great cocktails. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the place becomes a rowdy, very loud sports bar with a clubby environment. The music was too loud, everyone was shouting and it was a far cry from what I would call a typical speakeasy. The waitress apologised and assured us that it wasn't usually like this, but the fact TVs are in the bar in the first place makes it a Sports bar/cocktail place, jazz venue some nights and club on others too. Cocktails were ok for the price and it's good if you're looking for a loud, party vibe with cocktails. I would choose somewhere else for a date night with the girlfriend or wife. We found somewhere else in Cardiff and it was much more up our street. Personally, it feels like lab 22 is trying to do a bit too much of everything, rather than focusing on the cocktail experience. Upped rating to a 3/5 as lab 22 got back to me straight away and offered a drink on the house if we give them another try. We'll give it another try, but sometimes a place is just not for you and music too loud is a deal breaker as the wife and I like to spend the time enjoying the cocktail journey and connecting. Thank you Lab 22 for getting back to us so quickly and caring x

We absolutely love Lab 22, and were thrilled to come back when we visited Cardiff again over the past weekend. Fantastic atmosphere, cosy, warm and welcoming. The menu was explained in detail and the cocktails were just phenomenal! Our waitress, Hollie, was just amazing, and she ensured our experience was nothing short of perfection! Thank you so much - she is an absolute delight.
