Brilliant pub! Great food, reasonably priced and always show the biggest and best sports fixtures! Gabby was very attentive and polite and provided great service on my my most recent visit for the Speed Quiz!

I walked into the Crwys Pub and was greeted with the friendliest face of Tom the bartender. He immediately struck up a conversation and recommended me the nicest pint I’ve ever had. As I sat down with my Carling, I knew I was home. Tom for bartender of the year.

Everything you could want from a classic pub—great atmosphere, solid selection of drinks, and a menu that never disappoints.Top-notch. But let’s be honest, none of this would matter if it weren’t for Tom. Tom isn’t just a bartender; he’s a living legend. The kind of guy who remembers your order after one visit, who knows exactly when you need another drink. I came for the beer, but I stayed for Tom. Management, if you're reading this, give the man a raise, a plaque, a statue—whatever it takes to keep him.

The Crwys is a fantastic local pub. I had a great experience in there recently. I went to take part in the Thursday quiz, and on arrival I was met by Tom one of the barmen. He was super helpful and friendly and served me all 8 pints of Guinness I drank. By the end of the evening I’d honestly say our relationship was akin to brothers. A top top guy who, hats off to him, was ready to help and serve me whenever I found myself without drink in hand. A joy.

Was served by a lad called dewi, said he was 24 looks 17 imo. Pouring skills were spectacular really enjoyed the Pepsi max, definitely having another visit at the crwys

Every time I walk into the Crwys, it feels like coming home. I haven't been in awhile since I moved back to the USA, but the service was amazing as always and the food was better than ever. Such a special place!

Firstly, I just want to say what a fantastic place in the centre of the community. Me and my colleagues often make the 3 hour round trip down the m5 for the infamous crwys bingo. Massive shoutout to the bingo caller Michael who is a bundle of joy. However, recently Michael has started to use a very joyful and rather peculiar Irish accent. Great staff, and I can’t put into words to describe the cowboy burger absolutely fantastic. Thank you dai cowboy, Irish Michael, and all staff. Take care see you soon. The Crwys is a prime example of a well managed pub. The staff are all obviously hand picked by Dan the manager and provide an excellent service. Dylan, was exceptional offering a warm and friendly welcome and exceptional bar service. It's a great pub. Jeff Another great early evening at our favourite pub. Terrific staff, great service and quality food. We had fish and chips which was amazing and exceptional value. They even serve Guinness Zero now and accept Blue Light card for discount on food. Fabulous food today at the Crwys. The pub was buzzing with atmosphere yet the food was fantastic, hot and freshly cooked! Wonderful service from Abi and super food from Dave the chef!! We will def be returning

Arriving shortly before shortly before closing time the other night I specifically ordered a pint of ale and a single rum for myself and a half pint of cider for my friend who was driving. First of all I was served a pint of cider for her which I didn't ask for. I pointed this out kindly in a joking way but accepted it despite it not being what we ordered. When I got to the till I found that I've been upsold without my asking for a double rum not a single. Hard 'up selling' is a sharp practice and potentially dangerous. Needless to say we do not finish our drinks add left within a few minutes. We will not be returning. A shame as it's nice looking pub with friendly staff albeit sly staff.

Always freindly bar staff we visit every other week always nice food

A city pub that probably caters for university students more than the general public, but that could be just me getting it wrong because I don't live in the area, I'm from Hereford. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the meal was well cooked. As we were there in the middle of the day the atmosphere was not going to be a major factor for us, although I'd say that the staff did sort of provide that by their welcome.

I was there for my run club Christmas party/meal which was fabulous. The food was excellent. You catered for over 100 of us and it seemed effortless, which is a testament to everyone working at The Crwys. I’m the guy who arrived with the messed up finger courtesy of an accident with a car door! Massive respect to the bar staff lad that administered first aid. I am extremely grateful for everything he did.

I've been to this pub several times, and it never disappoints. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home. The menu is packed with delicious options, from juicy burgers to perfectly seasoned fries. Whether you're there for a drink or a full meal, you’ll be treated to excellent service and great food every time.

We pre-booked a table to watch the rugby and for some food. Our allocated table was near the tv so we could easily see the tv and watch the game. The food was hot and very tasty (we ordered 2 x spicy burgers; and 2 x Thai curries with chicken).

Always clean, polite staff and prompt service. The food is nice. I love coming here on a Sunday for a roast!

Came in for a pub crawl, staff were friendly and inviting and service was outstanding.

First staff member that served me was friendly the second gentleman was not when I asked him if I could get a small top up of coke he said I got what I paid for. Stingy with pepci from the tap.

I came in with some friends on Friday and the drinks were great quality. We were served by Eabad who was friendly and welcoming- would recommend as somewhere to go for a pint.

Terrible team of bar staff on Saturday the 4th - clearly a bunch of students working at the bar with school like attitudes. I went up to the bar and was waiting 45 minutes at the very front to be served with my boyfriend. It got to the stage of ridiculous when at least 50 new people that came in were served before us. We had just finished work and were tee total - it was completely deliberate and uncalled for. People were walking up to the bar and the bar staff would say “who’s next” I would say hi and they would completely ignore me until about 45 minuets later once we were practically the last there we were served. I work in Roath and this isn’t what working within the community is like.

I was only visiting, so not the normal customer. I suspect the pub is mainly used by people watching sport. The food is very standard pub grub. Asked for a bitter shandy, and was surprised there was some hesitancy if there was any bitter. Also, only 'normal' coke, none of the usual alternatives. Ordered two jacket potatoes, took about 30mins to come to table, one barely warm, but thankfully still edible. The garden area looked quite impressive, but way too cold that Saturday afternoon, only enticing a couple of smokers.

Overall I had a good experience at the Crwys Hotel Pub. Unfortunately when we visited in the evening they were out of a lot of food, our family enjoys a good steak and just out luck that was one of the things they were out of. I had the chicken burger & fries and I must say it was delicious, I opted for added mozzarella on mine. Others had gammon, egg & pineapple- this was fine though not the best that they've had. Overall, a solid 4-star experience, staff were kind though lacking a few food options.

Been there on a couple of Sundays so far to attend the pub quiz, and had amazing experiences both times! Located at cathays, not very far from the city centre and City Road, it's very accessible with free roadside Parking. The pub gets crowded towards the evening after 7 PM - and could see almost all the tables booked (probably for the quiz) but I was lucky to find tables for us! The pub has an amazing ambience with a lot of tables. The food and beer are good and worth the money! The service was also super quick despite the busyness. There's an option to place the order and pay using a QR code from the tables which makes it super convenient and hassle-free. My selections were: Drinks - 1. Draught - Pint Shandy - Brains Barry Island Shandy (£4.65) 2. Draught - Half Shandy - Brains Barry Island Half Shandy (£2.35) 3. Pub classics - Mac & Cheese with BBQ Pipped Pork (£12.79) 4. Pub Classics - Hunter’s Chicken (£10.79) 5. Starters & Sharers - Chicken Wings (£4.79) Given that there are a handful of items (Snacks/ Drinks) under £3 pounds, it's a good place for a cheap but good meal if one doesn't wish to spend much! Everything I tried tasted good, was fresh and filling. Coming to the quiz - It happens every Sunday at 8.30-10.30 PM. It's hosted by Jamie - a very friendly Quiz master, and has an overwhelming participation. It's pretty long, 40 questions plus a curtain raiser round of another 20+ questions which - all on paper. The latter is distributed about half hour before the start of the actual quiz. A raffle also takes place with some good prices at stake. My verdicts: Food Quality ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food Quantity ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plate Presentation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food Menu options - Non Veg ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food Menu options - Veg ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Drinks Menu options ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hot Beverages Menu options - 0 Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Decor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ambiance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crowd demographics - mostly Older generation Value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My verdict: The only con is that it can get quite noisy thanks to its older crowd (which certainly is not something in anyone’s control). Nevertheless, it's Definitely one of the better pubs around, and highly recommended.

I've not had such excellent fish n chips for ages! The freshest batter covering lovely, tender fillet plus tasty mushy peas.

The Crwys hosted us on 14/12 for our run club Xmas meal and party. Everything was brilliant: The space set aside for us. Really nice venue and table arrangements. The food - brilliant. Speed of service - I don't know how they managed to do it so well. Staff - all of them super friendly and helpful. The Crwys really didn't put a foot wrong here. Massive thanks to them for such a good night from everyone Albany Road Run Club. Dave club coach

Went there on Monday for a Christmas party for students with additional learning needs and the staff, atmosphere and service 10 out of 10 would recommend this pub for people of all ages!

Called in after arecommendation from a friend in the area as we aint feom here12/11/23 2 steak meals ordered.. paid extra for chips. Then had to go back as they forgot them 1 steak was meant to be medium rare but was cold inside so sent back the 2nd steak as pictured was ordered well done but as you can see still quite pink.. no mushrooms when asked they didn't have any, but wasn't told prior to ordering peas like bullets and cold.. not value for mk ey as the portions are more for a teenager size.. most of the steak wasted as very tough. Wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Ordered a well done steak that was well done on 1 half but other half was medium-rare turned me off my friend ordered medium-rare it was blue sent it bk cane bk still rare, no mushrooms wernt told till we sked where they where n onion ring were so small i didnt even see them on the plate peas hard as bullets, won't gmbe going there again
