This is a great place to eat. The food is always tasty and well presented. We enjoy our meals, which usually include a delicious salad as a starter, then a variety of tapas, followed by ice cream or a dessert. There is a good range of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas as well as a wide choice of wine and beer. Service is friendly and efficient

A welcoming and friendly place. There was a good variety of tapas and all we had were really tasty, and the house wine was decent too. They do a good deal on Tuesdays and Wednesdays which we took advantage of. Would definitely recommend for food, or even just for a glass or two of wine in relaxed surroundings.

We regularly eat at La Vina. The food is always good and well presented. I drink the house red wine (Spanish) while my husband has an Estrella beer. The owner, Iris, is always welcoming and happy to advise customers about the varied menu. We feel lucky that our nearest restaurant is so very good. gives small glasses of brandy or liqueurs on the house at the end of a meal.

When my family visit they always ask to go here. It's away from all the eateries on green lanes, and I can't imagine it gets much foot traffic, but is well worth a visit. The staff are friendly and helpful and service is good. The food and wine are tasty. They have a deal (on Tuesdays I think) for tapas which works our very well. The atmosphere is chilled.

Good ambience, feels like a family place. The tapas is a bit different from the average and the best was the squid, black pudding was interesting. Good bottle of wine too. I'd come here again as I like the feel of traditional eateries, I'd like to try more of the menu, and it's a bit secluded where it is, about 200m off Green Lanes near Harringay overground rail station. Perhaps it was the dishes we chose - mainly vegetarian - but I felt the food was a bit bland and unexciting. The service was OK but the decor looked tired and uncared for. It doesn't help that the closure of Wightman Road at the moment must be affecting passing trade; the restaurant lacked atmosphere while we were there. It seems to have some regular customers who really like it but I felt we paid quite a lot for small portions and fairly average wine.

My partner suffers from severe anaphylaxis, meaning she can have a severe allergic reaction and die if she comes in to contact with certain food. The proprietor rolled his eyes when informed of this whilst we were ordering our food. Making us feel particularly unwelcome and un-catered for. The peak of his rudeness came when we went to order dessert and he asked if she was allergic to flour. This ignorance on such a serious issue has left me feeling concerned for any future diners safety. That a man who runs a restaurant lacks such knowledge and has such a bad attitude is truly incredible.

I have been coming here on and off for years. In a residential road where you wouldn't really expect a restaurant to be, La Vina is in the Harringay ladder roads surrounded by a lot of mediocre Turkish and Greek restaurants in Green Lanes. The owner is Turkish, front of house staff a mixture of Turkish and East European and I am not sure where the chef is from. The decor is a so-so mediterranean pastiche BUT the food is more than passingly acceptable, the ambience is very good, the wine list concise (Spanish) and good value and the Maitre d' a seasoned customer service professional. The food is tapas based with some more substantial dishes, a good meal for two, with say 8 tapas dishes and a good bottle of wine and service comes in at less than £70, not bad! In terms of quality and authenticity, I would rate the food as 6.5/10 and given the fact the the place has been here nearly for 20 years, they must be doing something right. Chelsea or Knightsbridge this area is not but La Vina has a lot going for it in terms of a balance of value for money and quality. Recommended if you are in this neck of the woods where there's little else to shout about.

Suggested by my son who lives locally and who had been there before. Really enjoyed the relaxed ambience and the friendly service. Absolutely loved the tapas. We shared 15 between the 5 of us (just the right amount) and each and every dish was so good that I would happily order it again. And to top it all the prices were very reasonable indeed. Including olives, garlic bread, wines, beers and soft drinks as well as one pudding and teas & coffees, it was only £22 a head (pre-tip).Very well worth a little detour from the main road.

La VinaThe atmosphere of the restaurant, the ambiance that they create, the layout of the tables, all contribute to your anticipation for some good quality Spanish food. The waiters are friendly, they greet you with that warm smile that doesn't scream of, 'Please hurry up take a seat because we are busy.' The anticipation builds. Maybe they know they are so good, perhaps they know that they are the most authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in London? The food: I am still to find THE Spanish restaurant in London that I can draw comparisons to those of Andalusia, Catalunya and the Basque Country. Perhaps I have set my ambitions high? I live in hope.....La Vina is not the answer to my holy grail. It is what I would say to those on a similar pilgrimage as myself, a standard, 3 out of 5 tapas restaurant. Please don't get me wrong, it's tasty, it brings a smile but doesn't captivate like those taverns in Spain. The mussels, albondigas were good. The patas bravas with (not properly authentic ali oli) were actually very good. The chipirones - badly overcooked. Rubbery and not good. They sadly weren't fried. my fault for probably not reading the menu carefully enough. The pimentos de padron - average. They could have done with more blistering and fresh sea salt flake and olive oil to finish them. Tapas is essentially food that relies on the quality of the ingredients and the delviery of those ingredients by the chefs. Get it right, it sings.... This may have sung along he way but arrived at our table a touch out of breath and off key.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they have a 3 for £10 tapas menu which has about 30 different dished to choose from. We have sample most and haven't been disappointed by any. There is also a good selection of wines and the churros are lovely! One complaint - the staff seem to slow a bit when the owner is away.

We decided to visit La Vina on a Friday evening having eaten there a couple of times in the past. The restaurant was fairly busy and had a couple of tables empty. We were immediately seated on the veranda at the front of the restaurant (this is not shown in any of the promotional pictures on their Website) and was presented with the menu; it was downhill from there on in. We waited 35 minutes for our order to be taken after being served our drinks. I found it quite amusing to see the introduction of a couple of staples from a typical Eastern Mediterranean menu as Spanish tapas, these being Houmous and Helim; perhaps being situated at the top of the hill from Green Lanes, La Vina thought it acceptable. In my opinion this is a bad move as it weakens the concept of a Spanish Tapas Bar. We ordered a couple of tapas for starters that were just about acceptable in terms of taste. However, the Chipirones a la plancha were the worst I have ever tasted; these are baby squid shells that were pan-fried to the point of being rubbery and lacked any resemblance of the authentic dishes served in Tapas Bars and Restaurants across the whole of Spain. For our main course we choose Solomillo Pimienta; this dish was just about acceptable although the vegetable side-dish was somewhat small as a portion. La Vina missed the opportunity to up-sell by promoting additional vegetables or potato dishes; their loss. Having endured poor service and far from interesting and tasty food, I opted to try a favourite dessert of mine - Santiago Cake; this was very tasty but let down by the failure to serve coffee and brandy that was ordered at the same time. The bill was expensive for the quality of the food. Would I go there again, not in a million years.

We went to La Vina with our 13 month old daughter, who had one of her most stroppy dining experiences every. The waiter was extremely friendly and warm, and put us at ease despite her unruly behaviour. Without him this would have been one of the worse dining experiences of my life, just because of how stressed I got with my daughter playing up - but he made our evening much nicer by being kind, trying to entertain her, and telling us constantly not to worry. Thank you! We can't fault the service. We can fault the food though, which was average. The bread was cheap and turned quickly hard. The garlic mushrooms were great and the best tapas we ordered. The rest was average to poor: flat beans were ok, but the dish seemed expensive; the fresh artichoke was tasteless, which is a shame -clearly, the chef does not know how to cook this lovely dish; patatas bravas were ok but not very fresh; and the tortilla was bad, just because it was not fresh - it tasted like it had been re-warmed actually, though I do hope this was not the case... The house white was decent for its price and we managed to enjoy our meal overall. Nevertheless we'd think twice about going back as there are so many good restaurants in this part of London, that are also more affordable (this is not expensive but neither does not represent good value, I think). Overall, an average to poor dining experience that was saved by the outstanding service.

I'm not generally a big fan of tapas for a meal, yes it can be tasty but you leave hungry and feeling like you have been overcharged (or is that just me?).....Not this place, my friend and I shared 6 dishes and enjoyed every single one and there was plenty enough food. We ordered the house wine (again something I am wary of) and this was of high quality. The atmosphere and service was also top drawer. When the bill came we were so surprised by the value/ quality that we left a 25-30% tip and still felt like we had gained a bargain. I will certainly be visiting again and taking my friends when they visit London. I have nothing at all to moan about (and that really is unlike me)

We've been to La Vina twice in the last couple of months. The first time was on a Tuesday for their cheap deal which we found disappointing but we decided to give them another chance last night. The food isn't actively bad but it's not very good either. The padron peppers were clearly cooked from frozen and the chorizo was very gristly. A garlic chicken dish came with large lumps of undercooked garlic and had a strange biter aftertaste. On the upside, a spinach dish was nice and the prawns in a gambas pil pil fresh and juicy. The decor is fun and feels a bit like being on holiday and the service is sweet but, even though we live close by, I don't think we'll be going back.

I have been to la viña on five or six occassions. The food is pleasant and the service has been fine. However when I visited the restaurant on Friday 21 March from the moment we stepped into the restaurant we encountered the waiter it was a case of being rushed to take a seat of his choosing to being rushed to order. Within an hour of being there we were told that our table was needed because "there were reservations and we are very busy". My friend was still finishing her drink and there were a couple of women who were at a table nearby who had been there when we arrived who were also sipping their drinks who were left to enjoy their meal and were not harassed in the same way. Very disappointed with the level of service and although I work in the area and have encouraged other work colleagues to go there and we have had office gatherings there I will be looking for alternatives from now on. Just moved to the area and exploring the restaurants.Really like the backstreet and relaxed atmosphere although that also relayed to some of the decor and toilet. On arrival the owner/waiter didn't have our telephone booking listed. Begrudgingly he gave us a table outside which was intended for 4 although we were 2 (I booked a table for 2 outside 2hrs prior)Already feeling like a pest I ordered a jug of sangria with a jug of water (with the owner/waiter making it clear he thought I was a cheap little bugger).Brushing that aside it was a nice setting although a bit dated. We had 5 tapas w olives and bread and 1 dessert. The food was ok but not amazing. The sangria we ordered was a little lacking. £50+ later and in as many minutes we were ready to leave. No one said good bye/thanks and the attitude of the owner/waiter was very unwelcoming so will spend my money elsewhere next time.

In our search, looking to the best spanish restaurants in london, we decide this time to try one next to our house, we saw previous good references and we choose this new restaurant for our friday night. The place is not really bad, spanish typical music, and a small terrace in the front bar. But the food is one of the worst I've ever tried in london, and probably in my whole life. We order a few tapas (small to medium portions) and everything was reheated, the same sausages for everything and the taste was awful, some tapas were cold inside. I would never recommend this place to anybody but even more if you are from spain. Avoid this place¡¡¡¡¡

Well! I have never been to a Tapas Bar and Restaurant before, and being a tad disappointed with the Hotel across the road I decided to give this place a try. I'm really glad I did! The owner, Hosein, was very welcoming and helped me understand the way that the menu worked. The meal I had was very enjoyable, as was the choice of wine. The atmosphere reminded me of a couple of holidays I had in Majorca in my youth. One particular thing that I was most imp[ressed with was the very long list of vegetarian dishes on offer and I complimented Hosein on this, adding that it was far superior to many British Restaurants! So come on all you British restaurants, improve your vegetarian menus! I would certainly re-visit this establishment, with my wife as she just happens to be a vegetarian!

This is one of the most unlikely locations in London for a Spanish Tapa Bar! On the corner of the unremarkable rat-run that is Wightman Road and Station Approach (for Harringay Railway Station) sits this little gem, La Vina.Huge windows and a modest timber terrace from the outside, dim candle lights and split levels of seating on the interior... all quite pleasent but kinda wasted on such a drab street. We were given a nice window seat, pleasent attentive service and chose a range of tapas which we both enjoyed - Chorizo was in abundance, lovely Spanish omlette and none of it expensive enough to make you reluctant to experiment... just get a plate of what takes you fancy! If this were on the Hornsey side of the tracks, I'm sure the 'Crouch End set' would be raving about this place ...as it is, it'll just remain a wee secret!

La Vina is without doubt one of our favourite local restaurants and living in North London, we have quite a few to choose from! We always go for the Tapas, of which our obligatory picks are Patatas Bravas, Crab Claws and Chorizo in RedWine. The atmosphere is always nice and cosy, with fairly good service if not great. Spanish music playing in the background (usually Gypsy Kings!) played at just the right volume. I read with interest the two most recent reviews, I do hope the service/quality has not slipped recently.Value for money is great considering the cost of the more flashy tapas restaurants appearing the West End of late.

This stuff gives Spanish food a bad nameWe love about 50 metres away so I desperately wanted to like this place but it was rubbish.Food was really quite bland and tasted like it was reheated. One of the waitresses literally looked like she wanted to kill herself. My wife and I both had hairs in our tortilla. We told the waitress and she didn't know what to do. She took them away and brought us a new one and nothing more of it was mentioned in terms of apology or anything. At the end of the meal I took the bill back to her and said I wasn't going to pay for the tortilla (which was included on it). She agreed but again no apology or anything. We left knowing that we wouldn't be troubling them again with our custom. They missed out as if it had of been halfway decent we would be regulars!Recanted this story to other friends who live on the Ladder and they laughed because they had a very similar experience. Oh dear.........If you want good tapas go to El Parador in Mornington Crescent!

Usually love this place, went recently and it wasn't great. We ordered 6 tapas, 5 arrived together but they forgot the patatas bravas which came at the end...the other dishes weren't as good as usual.

A nice local restaurant with good quality tapas and other Spanish dishes. It makes a welcome change to most of the other local kebab restaurants. I probably go here every six weeks or so and it usualy ends up costing more than I think it will but I keep going back.

A good choice of food, decently cooked, with staff ranging from very effective and nice to OK (depending on the waitress), and usually relatively short waiting times. All for acceptable prices for the area.I've been to 4 tapas restaurants in London, and this is undoubtedly the best one in terms of value for money.

Chris' been going for years, but I discovered La Vina recently. The quality of the tapas is outstanding, in particular, squid stuffed with prawns, chorizo and beans, lamb either grilled or casseroled in brandy. Alas the kidneys and mushrooms are no longer on the menu. Service is friendly and the armosphere warm and welcoming, and the ambience convincingly Spanish. Always a great experience for the stomach and soul. And it won't offend your wallet.

Nice place in the back streets on Haringey. Food was excellent and staff were easy on the eye as well, especially the head waitress. We ordered a mix of dishes and they were all great. Be sure to try the garlic potatoes, squid stuffed with prawns, chicken in spicy salsa, lambs liver and grilled octopus. All delicious and for a decent price. If this restaurant was in the city they would have made millions! Will definitely be going back.

Lovely little restaurant located near to Harringay rail station. Traditional tapas restaurant with great service. We ordered several dishes and thought the spicy tomato chicken, the potatoes with garlic sauce and the prawns were awesome. This is the second time we had been and were impressed on both occasions. Really good value for money.

The air-con was way too cold, even at the peak of the May heat wave. Our first 2 wine choices were unavailable, the 3rd was warm. The service was slow, took over half an hour to get the cold tapas plates. The warm tapas were terrible, cold, re-heated, dried up and just bad. So bad in fact we had to send it back - which is a first, I've never sent food back before! The manager was apologetic, apparently they were having a bad night - but I will not be going back again and suggest you give it a miss too - bad, bad, tapas.

Great restaurant tapas with a huge variety of choices from vegan to carnivore, also very good selection of wines to choose from. Services were very cordial, friendly and well humored.
