La Villa Verde in Stoke-on-Trent

We were staying at the nearby Alton Towers Hotel for one night, where the food offerings (and indeed fellow guests) we not conducive to an evening of epicurean delight. So we escaped here. A bit of a drive out from Alton Towers, but easy to find with a satnav and plenty of space in the car park. A good range of authentic Italian food on offer, served with a smile. Also an opportunity to practice your Italian on the owners. Highly recommended, we need to support these small restaurants.

Food was really nice, just slightly let down by the speed of the service, having said that it was on a Saturday evening so maybe should be expected

We had booked a table for 21 due to a birthday celebration. A lot of small restaurants would be daunted by this and understandably so. Prior to our arrival we had submitted our meal requests which was probably for the best. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the staff and quickly shown to our seats. Very quickly we were asked for our drinks orders and they obliged us by billing each person/couples separately to ease any confusion later on. Some had starters including garlic bread, muscles and bruschettas. If we are being completely honest we could only say they were Ok, this doesn't mean bad, just not wow! Our main meals arrived which was a large selection of dishes from across the menu. Majority of the group complimented their dishes and stated they enjoyed them very much. I personally had the chicken and mushrooms in a white sauce - lovely! Deserts - I am going to hazard a guess and say most if not all of these are frozen and brought in, they definitely weren't fresh. For example I had a millefoglie which was meant to be with Chantilly cream etc. Well it might have been at some point but it was very much set like a custard, not at all as expected. The drinks prices fluctuated in price quite a lot as well - £6.50 for a shandy is crazy!! Every staff member we had serving us were lovely, very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Again don't underestimate the demands of such a large group, the staff with us brilliantly. I would definitely return for sure.

We had a delightful evening at this friendly restaurant 20 minutes from Alton Towers. It was a very welcome break from theme park food and the Italian cuisine didn’t disappoint! We shared starters of bruschetta, garlic bread and olives then all five of us felt we each had the best main course. I had the linguine gamberini - beautifully cooked juicy prawns with a garlic and tomato sauce. Other mains ordered were the risotto frutti di mare, carbonara, bolognese and pollo prosciutto, chicken stuffed with mozarella and prosciutto in a cream sauce and vegetables. All so so good! We ended the evening with cannolis and affogato - the perfect family evening.

Amazing experience. Waiter was extremely helpful when discussing gluten free options and the cocktails were delicious! Overall beautiful restaurant with great menu options and such a friendly staff.

Great atmosphere and food was beautiful and reasonably priced - would 10/10 recommend. We will definitely visit again!

This was our second time at this restaurant and we were again impressed with the food, staff helpful and friendly . The antipasto was a good portion for the 2 of us followed by a beautiful tomahawk steak accompanied with a lovely selection of vegetables plus chips and 3 different sauces. Only managed an afagato for afters.

Service was excellent nice surroundings was a tad nippy but log burner was only just turned on .Shared starter was fine my main pasta dish was below average standard for the price it cost, pasta was under cooked and the meat was over cooked .Won't be rushing back in a hurry.

Another great night at La Villa Verde. I have been there couple of times and they never disappoint. The food was delicious and the Mojito I ordered even better. Their service was excellent and the staff very friendly.

I went with my family for dinner and really enjoyed our food , especially the lamb chops was my favourite. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely we will be back soon

First visit and very impressed. We went to celebrate my Son's birthday on a Thursday evening and were served by Sergio who was very friendly and took the time to explain things on the menu. The food was lovely and served fairly quickly. We'll return again in the future.

We Ordered drinks on arrival we didn’t get them until after we had eaten our starters . Ordered the tomahawk steak well done and the waiter told me that it can’t be cooked like that and pulled his face when I gave it back , he brought it back (after it was sliced) and it was still red inside. Not very happy at all. Manager then come over and said that the steak was cooked well done.

Cocktails/drinks were very good although it took an age to get served Food was good apart from a ‘well done’ tomahawk steak which was raw inside and after complaining we were told that’s how it comes because its a thick piece of meat What a bunch of clowns Could be a decent restaurant if they replaced the management, staff and ‘chef’ Avoid!

Absolutely appalling service slow and staggered staff then told family member how the steak was perfect not what she ordered because we complained stated that we were rude and upsetting th 6 customer's that were in there not worth the money not professional obviously don't like people complaining and due to this then stated that the staff felt intimated...... just because we complained !!!!!! When you ask for well done

Disappointing. The service is excellent, I can't fault it. We ordered the meat sharing platter, and it has some incidents missing, we asked, and they said that due to a delivery, they were out of artichokes and some other bits. Why not say? We were given some cheap olives when we inquired. At £16 it's unfair. We then had pasta. Mine was lovely, my partner had the seafood (at nearly £20) and it was frozen prawns and not a single clam. Very average. You can't charge this money and use none or low quality ingredients. It's seems the best reviews on here are Pizzas! We did complain and got a free round of drinks (thank you), but when your bill is over £100 for 2 people and the food is very basic, then it's pointless. We definitely won't be rushing back.

I’ve visited a lot never disappointed. Also I am lucky to be able to go where I please. Late decision booked drove down fantastic. It is my Birthday month! Choose two meals I don’t usually have, allergies, Prawn Bruschetta and rib eye. Wow. They were good. Starter paired with Sicilluan Grillo and main with their fabulous Primitivo. Couldn’t get better. Well done guys.

This was our second visit to the restaurant after not a brilliant first visit we decided to give it another go. The car park was again full so had to park in a lay-by on the road outside. You would take this as a good sign usually but yet again the food was disappointing especially for the price they charge. The sharing starter was ok if a little expensive for what it was. My lasagne was in an extremely hot dish and sizzling hot around the outside but just about warm in the middle. My wife said that her pasta dish was quite dry and just about warm. The best thing about the meal was the garlic breads. Definitely not a patch on Primo’s in Leek. Don’t think we’ll give a third try.
