Went for an end of holiday dinner at this lovely restaurant. The service was impeccable, friendly and warm. The spaghetti bolognese and carbonara were great, as was the calamari and ciabatta. Pana cotta was to die for! Want to give a special thank you to the lady serving us, on her 18th birthday! Our daughter loved the balloon you gave her as we left. Recommend highly.

100% recommend this place, the staff are amazing and one waitress remembers us every time. The food is 20/10 I actually dream of this food it’s that good.

Visited last night with 4 friends for a catch up. Staff were so welcoming and attentive. The food was outstanding. We all said the food tasted so authentic. I had mushroom/ chicken risotto which was just delicious. We are lucky to live here in Burnham on sea and have some really good restaurants but this one is simply fantastic! If you are in the area, this place is certainly worth a visit and such good value for such delicious food.

Absolutely gorgeous. My partner and I went there on Friday night after being recommended it by our b&b owner. It definitely didn’t disappoint. We each had a starter of ciabatta with oils and breaded mozzarella, we had lasagne and pizza for mains and shared a tiramisu for dessert. All was absolutely gorgeous. Staff were really friendly and welcoming and the service was really good. We were worried we would have to wait a while as it was quite busy but we didn’t. Overall I’d 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting burnham-on-sea. Tip: there is a car park around the corner which has free parking after 6pm.

We have recently moved to the area and this was our first visit to La Vela, but it will surely be the first of many visits. The arrival welcome was warm and friendly, the service throughout was excellent and the food - was superb. I can honestly say this was the most enjoyable Italian meal we have had in a very long time. We look forward to repeating the experience again very soon.

On a day trip to the area, I wanted a good lunch experience. I found La Vela online and it had excellent reviews. It was on Sunday lunchtime(they’ve only just started to do lunches on Sundays) I had a warm welcome from the Proprietress Hazel and having discussed my preferences, I ordered - Linguine Gamberi- (pasta with prawns,crayfish, white wine, garlic, cherry tomatoes and roquito chillies) All cooked fresh by the Italian chef, it was absolutely delicious! Having a catering background myself, I know a quality restaurant when I experience it! I Highly recommend a visit!

We visited while on a trip to Burnham-on-Sea for my partner’s birthday and came to La Vela on the birthday itself so were hoping for something special. We weren’t disappointed! The atmosphere was very warm and staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, especially the seafood linguine and bolognese! We also had some of the house cocktails, I can’t remember the names but they were fantastic too. The food was good value for money and if we were ever visiting again I think we would pay La Vela another visit!

Had the home made olive starter and two fantastic pizzas cooked to perfection and exactly how we like them. Lovely warm welcome and outstanding service. If you have not got time for full evening then recommend the very competitive take out/take away. Everything on the menu is available!!

We came here on the spur of the moment, luckily got a table despite having no booking. However, other people after us were not so lucky. The food and service was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The highlight for Mum was when they discovered it was her birthday, they bought her a special ice-cream with a candle in! We will certainly return when we can.

Went there on Sunday for evening meal. Absolutely wonderful. So much so we went back Wednesday and Thursday. Great food , great service.

Maybe a bad night here but the food was Average and thought would try local. The pudding mixed ice-cream tasted like Tesco's own brand. Only thing good was the service. An honest review.

We were a family of 8, 4 adults 4 kids. Made a reservation for 5.15 table was ready staff were attentive, nothing was too much trouble for the kitchen or waiting staff. We had an excellent meal, couldn’t fault a thing. Can’t sing their praises enough. Sad that we couldn’t get another meal there but as a party of 19 they couldn’t fit us in on a Friday night. Well done Vela your was the best meal we ate during our stay.

Visited this restaurant for my 50th birthday whilst we were on holiday and what a great find. Clearly popular with locals because by the time we left, it was packed (we had gone early as our young son was with us). Food was amazing and staff really friendly. Highly recommend if you are in burnham on sea. Thank you for a lovely evening La Vela and for my Happy birthday desert.

We visited twice on our holiday. Loved the atmosphere, service and delicious food. All of our dishes were superb. Highly recommend the Risotto, Calzone (veggie option), Tiramisu, Bread and olives. Pasta de las Casa was delicious. All dishes freshly cooked, good portions and well presented. All staff on arrival and waiter/waitresses very attentive and friendly. Will visit again when next in Burnham On Sea.

Didn't book in advance but they were able to give us a table for an hour and half, which was more than enough time. Friendly staff, great food the only reason for losing one star was the house salad costing £5-7 but it looked like it was just a pre-packaged salad. This restaurant is on the pricer side but the quality of food you get makes it worth it.

We hadn't booked this place but the host managed to find us a table as it was very very busy. We could understand why after having an extremely tasty meal. Pizzas were delivered very quickly and were delicious. The other food on the surrounding tables looked amazing too. The place had a great atmosphere and the staff really efficient.

Was spending a few days in Burnham and having been to this restaurant several years ago decided to try it again and was not disappointed.The food was very good and service excellent, felt very safe as tables were wellspaced out.The only thing we found was that the portions were quite large for us but that's not a complaint.Thank you for a pleasant evening.

I went to la vela with my husband for my 20th wedding anniversary and decided celebrate it with La Vela, we were treated very kindly and made us feel very special throughout the whole experience. The service was absolutely amazing, the staff were very welcoming and easy to approach, and they were very quick with the service which is something I look out for when I’m going to restaurants but the thing that stood out the most was our table and the food.The table was decorated beautifully and it was fit for anniversary which made feel very special and we were very happy that we picked this restaurant to celebrate the occasion.The food was outstanding, I had ordered the seafood pasta which was best thing I had in while. The portion size was perfect, it was very filling meal, props to the chef!The restaurant gave a very traditional modern atmosphere and the design was great. The restaurant was very clean and well taken care of, especially the toilets, they were designed with skill. Overall the whole experience was amazing and I can’t wait to go back as soon as I can, I would 100% recommend La Vela.

Due to eat here tonight at 7:30 after booking 2 months in advance. We get there and a sign on the door says they can’t open due to covid. Far enough but to not even have the decency to ring and let us know. As the people below said no phone call. It was our last night and we were looking forward to a nice meal but ended up with take away! Not impressed.

After booking a week in advance and driving for over 3 hours as a family of 5 we were looking forward to eating here. Notice on window saying closed due to a covid case in the restaurant. Wouldn’t mind but this being after rules had been relaxed and the pizza oven was fired up and there were people sitting at a table. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was spacious and had a nice feeling about it. Service was quick from start to finish which I always like.The food....The sharer starter of garlic bread for me was not a sharer, I found it just about right for one person, it was the smallest garlic bread I think I have ever had, although very tasty may I add.For main courses we had the chicken Ala Creme that was absolutely fantastic, The lasagna again was absolutely fantastic, Spaghetti Bolognese was nice but portion size small for £15.We asked for a side portion of vegetables at a cost of around £3.50 to £4 and I was not impressed at all with what arrived , please see the photo, it was the worse side portion of vegetables I have ever seen... I did not complain in the restaurant at the time as if this is what they serve up this is then the honest review I then write.Drinks... A bottle of 330ml Budweiser £4.20 for me is Totally over priced, A pint £4.20 yes but not a bottle of 330ml... Overall we enjoyed the visit and would return if passing again, 3* given due to small starter, poor vegetables side portion and expensive bottles of Budweiser.

We were going to see The New Jersey Boys at the Princes Theater on a Saturday night. So we booked a pre show meal at La Vela 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Well, we will be here again in October. Lovely three course meal, followed by amaretto liqueur coffee.Service was excellent, food was excellent, setting very nice. I guess if you fancy a nice meal out in Burnham-on-Sea then this is the place to go. But if you want to, book early, it was fully booked when we were there.

Thought we would give this one last try but as the atmoshphere is still poor, the service average, and food abismal we wont be going again. Shame as this was a good restaurant a few years ago.

First time in a few years as not been down this way. As good as always friendly staff and great food. My wife's sirloin was the best she has had since last we were here and she frequently tries them. Cooked to perfection and really tasty. We can't recommend this place enough.

we returned to this restaurant 9 months after our first visit and can report that the high standards we experienced on our first visit are still maintained.The service is both friendly and efficient and the food is delicious. Need I say more.This will remain our go to restaurant when ever we are in the area.

I’d heard great things about this place, so was excited to try. I ordered a very fancy sounding, meat feast style pizza. Whilst the pizza was tasty, it was very oily, almost drowned in a liquid that overpowered the meats. I was also given chilli oil on the side that had a little fly in it. Attention to detail at a miss, but the pizza wasn’t too bad, the meats were of good quality, good time had.

Beautiful food. If you like Italian food then this is the place to visit. Read reviews before visiting, and although they were all very highly rated I am dubious at times as not everyone’s standards are the same but I’m happy to say I can concur that it’s definitely worth the 5 star rating. Only complaint or moan is that the pop is more expensive than the alcohol so for the designated driver it was more expensive and less fun.

They managed to fit us in for dinner after being let down by another restaurant. We had our 3 year old with us who devoured a whole pizza as it was so good! All of us had a fantastic meal. Staff were friendly and service was great. Especially as it was a busy Friday night. One I would visit again.

We visited here whilst staying at the local Haven site. We got a booking no problem. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. We had starters, mains and desserts with drinks and coffees and worked out around £30pp. The food was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. Would 100% recommend this place for a nice meal, if you want more than a local pub meal.

Visited on 21st May 2021, there is a nice atmosphere on arrival, the tables are spaced out well. The staff were welcoming and the food and service were very good. We were advised that there was another booking after ourselves but we didn’t feel rushed. We certainly didn’t get the poor service and staff that some reviewers had. We would certainly come again

Visited this Italian recently after its refurbishment, sadly it has gone down hill. The meatball pasta dish had roughly one meatball, this was broken into about six small bits scattered through the poorly cooked past. The sauce was hard to find as there was so little of it.The very young waiting staff spent more time chatting to each other by the bar than serving the customers.Shame as it used to be much better.

We had a family meal out (first one since March) and there was a hair under the calzone. We informed the waitress who took the plate away, then brought back the plate saying she has removed the hair and it was a blonde hair and the chef has dark hair so it wasn't one if his! (None of us are blonde either!) They expected my husband to carry on eating the calzone! The staff did not care and were miffed we asked for another one to be made rather than eat the one that had a hair in it! It took quite a while for the replacement calzone to be made so we had to take it away but it smelt funny and we didn't trust the hygiene of the kitchen so we threw it away so it was a waste of food and money.We were very disappointed with the whole experience and will not recommend this restaurant in the future

We were reticent to go dining out with Covid 19 being on the rise in most areas. we had nothing to worry about, La Vela were operating to all the guidelines with professionalism. Its important that we all support local businesses during this pandemic and we felt that this restaurant whilst having to operate in these trying times were still offering delicious food and a varied menu together with friendly service. We will definitely return again soon.

We were on an overnight stop at Burnham-on-Sea, en route to Cornwall, and I had pre-booked a meal here. The restaurant was busier than we anticipated, but all COVID measures were being followed and we felt extremely safe. My husband and I both had pasta and salad - carbonara and bolognese - and they were lovely. I would recommend this restaurant - and evening parking was easy and nearby too, which is always a bonus!

We went on Saturday 19th September. You can tell how good it was as it was very busy. We had booked a table so we were seated straight away. Myself and mum went for the seafood pasta which was amazing with lots of prawns and crab in it. My dad been 84 doesn’t have a big appetite do we asked if he could have a small portion which is listed for under 10s on the menu. Some restaurants are really funny about it, but these were great and said no problem so he had spaghetti bolognaise but half portion. I also order garlic bread which was also lovely. We also had a bottle of wine and my mum and myself had the tiramisu and Panocota which Again we couldn’t fault. Beautiful food and would recommend!!

Cold restaurant for 7 booking but was unable to get a booking but they squeezed us in at 6:30 welcoming atmosphere spaghetti carbonara was good vegetable pasta was brilliant service was good but just needed a little bit of polishing atmosphere was great highly recommend it for a second visit

We visited Burnham-On-Sea this weekend and looked on TripAdvisor to find somewhere to eat on Sunday evening. Based on the reviews and our fancy for an Italian meal we chose La Vela and we weren't disappointed. We rang at 5pm to book a table for 7pm, the lady on the telephone was very helpful and fitted us in despite the short notice. On arrival it was clear that they are doing everything they can to make guests and staff feel safe and follow government guidelines re Coronavirus.The welcome we received was friendly and we were shown immediately to our table. We had a garlic bread with mozzarella to share, a lasagne (I always judge an Italian restaurant by its lasagne and this one was certainly not a disappointment!) and a linguine gamberi, a bottle of primitivo and some water. Our waiter was lovely, very helpful and the food was delicious, as was the wine. The restaurant is small, nicely decorated and feels welcoming and comfortable. In summary, a great little Italian restaurant with excellent staff and food. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending La Vela and, if we are ever in Burnham-On-Sea again, will definitely re-visit.

Having struggled to find any good restaurants in the area, La Vela really stood out and was excellent. The food was really tasty and the service was good. Would recommend.

We normally visit this lovely place in our holiday, cant really fault it, Helpful staff who do really work with love and even chefs are always smiling which is makes the great atmosphere, food quality still the best after 8 years from our first visit.Highly really recommended if you are around the area

Well, in the past we have always felt this is the place to go for a fantastic meal.NOT TONIGHT........ We ordered meals we would not normally have (the calzone is normally good), the wife's meal came with cheap frozen vegetables that hadn't been drained properly, mine came with tortilla chips out of a packet and I don't think they were Doritos......The waitress didn't seem to care that we hadn't had a good meal.Normally, the food is worth the extra, tonight I would rate the food as DISGRACEFUL, (I have had better from roadside burger vans.)I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK and for me to say that after using this establishment since moving here 6 years ago, well make up your own mind

Came here for a meal last night with a friend. We were staying in Brean for a few nights and checked TripAdvisor beforehand for nice restaurants nearby. The restaurant is modern and clean, the food delicious and full of flavour and the staff very helpful and friendly. I am a vegan and although none of the main dishes on the menu were listed as vegan the waitress informed me that many of the dishes can be veganised and the chef went above and beyond to cater. I would suggest perhaps having at least two or three main dishes on the menu that are suitable for vegans and also serving bread/garlic bread on the tables whilst deciding what to order. Can't fault the place and would return in the future if i'm ever passing or nearby. Thanks for a pleasant experience.

Visited here as we were staying in town and we fancied an Italian.Good Covid-19 safety and the restaurant has a very nice modern style.Welcoming staff and attentive to detail. We ordered Prawns and the Goats Cheese starters. My wife informs me that the sauce that the prawns were in was delicious and I couldn't fault my goats cheese, mixed salad and honey mustard dressing.For the mains, we had both chosen the oven baked Fusili pasta with chunks of meatballs. Served piping hot, this was excellent and was extremely tasty!We finished the meal with Profiteroles and Cheesecake. The cheesecake was a bit crumbly and was advertised as a creme brulee cheesesake with a crunchy caramel 'something' on top, which seemed to be missing. The cheesecake was very nice, just think it wasn't quite what i was expecting from the description.Cost including a bottle of Shiraz, large peroni and two soft drinks was £95

I think la vela is one of the best restaurants in burnham on sea , I went there on Wednesday to Celebrate our wedding 9th Anniversary with my husband and we were amazed by it’s new atmosphere since it just reopened we were taken to our table and it was decorated beautifully. Our food was quick and excellent and staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very hygienic, toilets were really clean and tidy and the decor was fantastic. I highly recommended la vela restaurant for any special events like anniversaries, birthdays and more. Thank you la vela for the fantastic food and service.

Have been here a couple of times since we moved to Burnham.Its just gone through a refit, but apart from new upholstery, I think most changes were behind the scenes!.We had a nice walk from home so had a bit of an appetite, and a thirst, so were looking forward to a long cooling Aperol Spritz - they don't do it!! But its an Italian!! Apparently can pre order when booking the table, a missed opportunity there.Menu is clear - not much fish - was one on the specials, but as at the seaside would have thought there would have been more.Wine is a small list, struggled a little - Montepulchiano we had as a single glass was much nicer than the Chianti Classico bottle we had to start - was at the right temperature too. Could have saved some money there.Meal was good, but just felt it could have been a bit more, was a shame.Would have loved an Expresso Martini to round it off, but they had no Kahlua, missing another opportunity.Really wanted it to be better, perhaps I'll have a pizza next time

We went with a group of 7 people Saturday a week ago shortly after the reopening. The staff was friendly and you can not fault the food, But we thought that the food and beverage are far too expensive for small beach town as Burnham! A bottle of Prosecco 27.95 pounds. A bottle of white wine was not much better: 19.95 pounds. Chicken dishes were 17.95 pounds. Furthermore, I would expect that an Italian restaurant offers fresh fish dishes and a salad as main dish. We are local and we certainly will not frequently visit this restaurant regularly. Too pricy for what it is.

Visited La Vela this evening, family of 4. 2adult meals were very nice but one came on a cold plate so the sauce & mushrooms were cold on arrival. The child’s Pizza was reasonably good but nothing special.All the 4Meals were expensive for what they were, & not really good value for money. We won’t be rushing back there.
