La Trattoria in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Had a table booked for the evening. Within 4 mins, WaiterA took our drinks order. Great. 1 minute later, WaiterB approached to take our food order, but we weren’t ready as we were still waiting for our drinks. 15 mins later, we had to get the attention of WaiterC to place our food order. Around 30 mins later, we noticed a couple at a separate table, who arrived after us, had already finished their starter and were munching on their mains. Meanwhile, another couple, who arrived even later, were enjoying their starter. Throughout the evening, various waiters were offering parmesan cheese and pepper to other tables without the diners needing to ask. Eventually we got the attention of WaiterD and asked him about our order. WaiterD returned shortly after to confirm our order. After a whole 1 hour from entering the restaurant, our starter finally arrived, but the calamari was rubbery. 15 mins later, our mains arrived, and I ordered a glass of Rioja. However, we had to flag down WaiterC for parmesan cheese and pepper, which other tables had been offered without prompting. WaiterC brought pepper, while WaiterE brought parmesan. We then got the attention of WaiterF to order more drinks and inquire about the Rioja. She sorted it out quickly and efficiently, standing out amidst the otherwise poor service. When we asked WaiterC for the bill, WaiterB brought it and processed the payment. However, 2 mins later, WaiterB returned to inform us he had undercharged us by £1, which was laughably ridiculous and comical at that point. Aside from WaiterF, the service was terrible. Altogether, we had 6 waiters. Maybe the restaurant will be better served if waiters worked their own section/tables as opposed to it being a free for all. If we ever go back, we can only hope the experience improves.

Four of us visited on a Saturday evening. Pleasant environment, nice selection of drinks and fantastic, friendly service. The menu is extensive, but hardly if you are vegetarian and really poor if you are vegan. Yes it's an Italian restaurant, but it really needs to have a more diverse menu. Will only return if there are a greater range of vegan dishes. The four stars are for the environment, great service and extensive drinks menu.

Visited on Saturday for my Father-in-law’s 70th Birthday and it was lovely. Friendly and helpful staff brought out our birthday cake and candles and sung Happy Birthday with us. Tasty food and reasonably priced. Thanks for making the celebration special! Would recommend.

It's tragic, really. This used to have some interesting dishes, but it seems it's pasta with the same tomatoes or creamy sauce with different meat thrown in, and frankly, I have had better cooked at home. The menu is as boring as it gets, and they no longer do anything different from a ZIZI. Over COVID, you could get a green pesto dish, risotto; now, it's basic pasta and pizza. My son's carbonara was ghastly and full of choking hot black pepper. Why, why, why? My meal could have been from Mark's ready-meal collection for £5, but I spent £16 on it. The Bolognaise was okay, but all the pasta was overcooked and slimy for everyone!

Decidimos probar este azul para un almuerzo rápido y sencillo. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. Una buena selección de vinos e incluso cuando mi esposa cambió su mente de rojo a blanco como el camarero se acerca para abrir la botella, sin problemas, nos consiguió la en lugar de blanco. Fuimos a almorzar menús, con mucha variedad y se sirve rápidamente. Una atmósfera encantadora y sencilla, bonita decoración y volveremos y probar el menú de noche. Lo recomendaría!

El restaurante estaba lleno, un ambiente encantador para una cena de navidad para comprobar dos. El personal era acogedor y atento. He visitado este restaurante en varias ocasiones y nunca decepciona. Esta ocasión fue una cena y eligió a la a un menú a la carta. Tenía las fechas envuelto en jamón de Parma para comenzar este estaba delicioso y bien presentado. Para el principal elegido en la especiales del día la langosta con linguini pasta en salsa de tomate encantador, este era excelente y muy sabroso, y mucho, así que una buena relación calidad-precio. También bien presentado y buen servicio del personal amable. Elegimos una botella de sauvignon blanc chileno que complementaba la comida.

Visitamos con amigos en una cena de trabajo de navidad. El restaurante está decorado con buen gusto, cálida y acogedora. El personal es muy amable y atento. Qué puedo decir, desde el momento en que entras por la puerta me recibió la bienvenida más maravillosa. Había 8 de nosotros en total y que ya estaba ocupado, puedo ver por qué. Servicio de camareros y camareras era excelente. La comida era increíble. Sin duda recomiendo este lugar. Por favor, prueba y ve que no te decepcionará.

We had a table boked for 8. The food review was mixed. Ribeye was quite good. Squid was poor. Other two meals were average. The service was ok until we were the only ones left in restaurant, we felt very uncomfortable, they were obviously putting things back as it was the end of the day but the dragging of chairs across the floor so loudly that we couldn't hear ourselves speak was a clear indication that we were in the way. It was only 9.50pm. Will not be going back.

I wouldn't recommend this particular restaurant because I thought they would have basic ham, mozzarella and tomato pure pizzas at least... NO, we get pizzas with half the toppings in the entire restaurant on. Disgraceful. The only reason they get 3 stars other than 2 is because of the service. Don't go to this restaurant because the menu is judt there to disappoint you.

The restaurant itself is lovely - rustic, charming, with decent spaces between the tables. Some of our group were late arriving, but staff didn't seem to mind. The food was delicious, and there is a lot of choice on the menu, plus the specials, with pizzas and pasta dishes being very reasonably priced. The starters in particular were innovative and we all found it quite hard to choose! The meat/fish dishes were delicious and, obviously, cost quite a bit more than the pasta and pizza, but sadly didn't come with any sort of potato, for example, only with vegetables. The veg was for three dishes and came served in a large dish; there didn't seem to be quite enough for the three of us. Customer service could be better - we had a very long wait for the dessert menu, although the plates from the mains had already been taken away; one staff member in particular was quite abrupt, although not rude. That said, there was nothing inherently bad, just a few points for improvement. We would go again, as we did enjoy the food and the environment,

Myself and my sister, came for the cookery course on Saturday 5th November.Firstly, we would like to say what a brilliant time we had. Visited last Wednesday with my husband as we both adore Italian food and being new to the area we thought we would try it out. We were seated promptly after arrival and given menus, after about 20 seconds of looking at them they came to take our order. It felt quite rushed and the staff seemed stressed even though it wasn't overly busy. We both had the spaghetti bolognese which was nice however we both like parmesan cheese and it wasn't offered to us.When it was time for the bill we had to ask multiple times before it came and then when the money was clearly on the table they did not take it after 20 minutes and we should have had about £9 change! In the end we got up and left as we were tired of waiting! So when you go make sure you have the right change!

We visited the restaurant for the Cookery school on a Tuesday evening. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome which created a good vibe for the evening. The chef was very talented and clearly very passionate about food which made him very engaging. The food we made was absolutely delicious and overall we had a very enjoyable evening; our only criticism was that they could have been a bit more prepared as the chef spent a lot of time going around the room/kitchen trying to find certain foods for cooking. Overall a very pleasant evening.

What a fantastic morning spent at the cookery school. We started with crustini followed by figs in Parma ham, pumpkin ravioli and pear frangipani tart. Not rushed or forced conversation, good wine with the food we had just cooked and a great host.Would definitely recommend.

Attended the cookery school on 22nd October. Had a great time, learnt some new skills and prepared a nice meal which we all sat down at ate at the end of the course.Twelve people were on the course, we all got on very well, it was all very simple cuisine, nothing intimidating, tasted great, the type of food you could easily replicate at home.The restaurant looks great but i can not comment on the quality of the menu because I did not try it, I will be making a booking soon but I am sure the quality is excellent.The chef who lead the course was (sorry but his name alludes me at this time) was very enthusiastic and got everybody involved as much as they wanted to.Highly recommend the course .

We had lunch here today 19th Oct '16 and was immediately impressed with the 2 course lunch menu for £11.50 which was quite extensive including a glass of wine (which was also very good). The mussel starter that I had was excellent, they provided finger bowl of lemon water and also a spoon to enable you to finish the lovely sauce which accompanied the mussels - in many restaurants I have had to ask for these. Main courses could not be faulted. Cheesecake to follow, resulting in two full, but happy diners (extra £3.00).The service off the two young men was very attentive and professional, thanks!Nice place which also has an area upstairs which is signed as the 'wine bar'.I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others and we will be visiting again shortly, why risk anywhere else in the area when this is so good.

Established family restaurant that is consistently good with its varied daily specials menu as well as a la carte. Try their good value "early bird". Great atmosphere. Lucky to have this restaurant in our village.Sensible pricing. A god one to try if you have not yet done so.

My husband and I really enjoyed a cookery lesson at La Trattoria. We are big fans of the restaurant and my husband Tony is a very keen cook. We had a very enjoyable and informative afternoon. Very relaxed. Picked up lots of top tips and enjoyed our 3 course lunch with wine! Totally recommend it!

We have been here for dinner and also for brunch. We had a lovely dinner, but we especially like the brunch. Not a huge menu, but a few nice choices. I have had the Eggs Benedict which was very good, we have had other items as well including croissants and jam. I like sitting outside with a nice brunch and a capuccino and watching the neighborhood. Also, very nice staff and I often take a lovely piece of cake home with me when I go.

In the area business looking for somewhere to eat and came across this busy gem. Superb Italian food. Good service. Nice atmosphere in a stereotypical "trattoria" setting. Figs followed by lobster pasta from the weekly specials was a real treat. On the down side, as a lone diner, I did resent being initially offered a table that wasn't‘ even laid in the entrance area away from everyone else. Why? Overall though a very enjoyable meal. I would go again.

Drove past this place and saw the Breakfast sign. Nice morning, so went for it. The nearest thing to a breakfast was the baked eggs that looked interesting. I went for a cheese and ham panini. Had a smoke with a cup of tea. Saw a couple who ordered 5 minutes after us get served. Had another smoke. Saw another couple who ordered 15 minutes after us get served. Asked waitress. "Just being done". Okay. First other couple had left by now. Second other couple just finishing. Asked again. "Chef forgot our order". (Gave us a free cuppa.) Food arrived!!! Yes, I've had better. Mrs enjoyed baked eggs. When she asked about the bread roll she ordered, it arrived as she was almost finished. So no, I wont be going back there. But I'm sure the other two couples who were served before us might.

Enjoyable evening with family. Lovely atmosphere and excellent food.Did feel a bit rushed would have liked a rest in between courses - despite this woul visit again
