La Terra in Bath and North East Somerset

Recommended in the Good Food Guide and we can see why. Not a huge choice on the menu but was difficult to choose as everything sounded delicious. We agreed to order different dishes so we could at least have a taste of each other’s. Every dish was well balanced and perfectly cooked. The wine menu was limited but brilliantly matched for the food and very reasonably priced. The front of house team were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. This will be our first reservation next time we are in Bath.

Lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed the taste combinations used. I had the set lunch menu £30 per head. Started with the chesnut and onion soup. Hot, creamy and very tasty served with toasted sourdough bread. My next course was the pasta of the day which was butternut squash with pork ragu and a parmesan cheese sauce. The combination of flavours really worked well. Nice to see chefs using their taste buds rather than following a recipe. Well worth the visit.

Brilliant lunch in a lovely setting. Food to a high standard and cooked fresh, server gave fantastic recommendations. We were 15 minutes late for the reservation due to Bath being extremely busy, but on arrival after phoning to let them know, they were so accommodating and made us feel at ease. The tiramisu was gorgeous and we didn’t feel rushed. We will be back. Thank you!

We had not been before but were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and attentive and good food. A little gem. My only criticism there was no indication on the menu what dishes were gluten free and vegetarian, quite important since pasta and gnocchi are not gluten free and this is an Italian restaurant.

Superb service, amazing food and generally well worth a visit. I had Scallops which were cooked to perfection . I then had a tasty pasta. Others had the fish of the day which looked superb. We went on to have coffee. The cocktails were beautifully presented and very tasty. The service was always with a smile and our waitress was very helpful and patient as the menu all looked great and we couldn't make our minds up. You should go!

We had a delicious and wonderful experience for our 2nd year anniversary. The service is exceptional and the food is all freshly made and absolutely delicious. This restaurant is a must if you want quality food and service when in Bath. We will definitely be back! thank you!

Absolutely delicious authentic Italian food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended and probably the best place to eat in Bath. My favourite was the steak truffle, but all 5 of us enjoyed our varying starters, mains and deserts! Don’t miss out, book your table now!

I had three différent meals at La Terra : fish, méat and pasta...these guys deserve a one Michelin star. Absolutely perfect !

Absolutely brilliant food and experience

Very cute atmosphere with great service and wonderful foods. I really liked the gnocchi I had which was not the traditional way gnocchi is made but it was just as good and very delicious. My husbands pasta dish was also amazing. The tiramisu was also not a traditional tiramisu but very good.

We had the bread, pasta, lamb, ice cream and the parfait with a bottle of wine… everything was divine and my photos don’t do it justice. There were 3 types of bread and they provided both the oil and the basil butter because I’m vegan and my partner is not. He said the basil butter was fluffy and flavorful. The focaccia was airy with the lightly crisped top. My pasta was mouthwatering, I have no idea what was in the green sauce but I need it bottled and the pasta itself was expertly cooked with just the right amount of bite. The lamb looked divine (even though I don’t eat meat) the potatoes had goats cheese sprinkled throughout. Every bit of our plates was cleaned at the end but when they offered us dessert, we knew it was going to be good so we continued. The affogato was creamy and light. The parfait thing had all the right textures with little bits of crunch sprinkled throughout. It tasted like summer. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was cozy and everything you want when eating something so delicious. Nothing about it was pretentious like you might find at restaurants with this high of a rating. I’m really glad I got to experience eating here. The starters and the dessert photos were taken after we had already started eating.

My wife and I have an enjoyable dinner here. The staffs are very nice and friendly. The food is amazing. I will definitely come back again

It's a shame this highly recommended restaurant fell so far below the mark with one hour wait times with undercooked and bland food.

Food was absolutely incredible. Steak was cooked perfectly and the vegetable combo with olives and pesto was so different but incredible. Lamb also beautifully done. Their bread selection to start was some of the nicest I’ve ever had. Lovely service and 10/10 over all.

Honestly the best place to eat in Bath, the service is top-notch and the food is AMAZING, beautiful smell of fresh bread and wonderful staff. They are super dog friendly and gave my dog treats and water. Best place to eat. The photo below is just one of the many delicious foods at La Terra. 💯💯💯

One of the most fantastic Italian meals I’ve ever had. Really beautifully presented and full of flavour. This is a delightful restaurant with wonderful staff. A great experience.

La Terra in Bath provided a solid evening, albeit with a few hiccups. Upon arrival, it took a full hour before we were graced with our first course. But considering we turned up right after England’s triumphant penalty shootout against Switzerland, alongside half the city, I’m willing to give them a pass on this one. The venue itself is a charming, compact space spread over a few floors, adorned with rustic, earthy decor that feels fittingly authentic given the restaurant’s name. It's cozy without being cramped, and the ambiance has a warm, inviting vibe. The food? Let's start with the scallops. Four perfectly cooked morsels, accompanied by an array of sauces and flavors that were both fresh and intriguing. For the main course, I opted for the lamb. Cooked to perfection, it came paired with goat cheese and potatoes, creating a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Pleasant and satisfying, if not revolutionary. Service, despite the initial delay, was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The staff managed to strike that ideal balance of being present without hovering, which is always appreciated. In all, La Terra delivered a good experience. It may have been a bit slow off the mark, but given the circumstances, it was a commendable performance. Worth a visit, especially if you're in the mood for some hearty, well-prepared fare in a lovely setting.

The set menu is an excellent option and value. One small suggestion for desert: the whole menu looked amazing but I didn’t have enough space to try everything, I would have definitely got a “café gourmand” if it was available.

Proper Italian restaurant, with very friendly Italian staff and the food is great! A good selection of wines to pair with your diner. By far the best place I had dinner in Bath!

La Terra. What can one say. It's just fantastic. Being on holiday and after a day walking around Bath, we fancied something special. After looking around numerous places, we picked La Terrra. We hadn't booked but were welcomed in and looked after by all the staff. The three of us had different dishes, I chose the Brixham catch of the day, and none of us were disappointed. Recommended

Great location, very good service. We arrived at the restaurant at 1730 and it was raining outside. The staff welcomed us and seated us as the restaurant was only open at 1800. Good recommendation from the staff member. Very appealing and delicious dish. Would definitely visit again when we come to Bath next time.

The vegan menu dishes clearly have so much intention into their creation and meat free options did not at all feel like an afterthought. Very fairly priced for the quality and caliber of the meal

A stand out Italian resto in Bath. Delicious plates, we had the lamb, squid ink spaghetti with crab, alongside olives and the bread to start. Particularly loved the basil butter. Service was warm and friendly. Wine and negronis also 5*. Look forward to returning, this time with room for the chocolate mousse!

Absolutely delicious lunch. Burrata was delicious, fish cooked so perfectly, tasty accompaniments. Friendly, competent staff. The kitchen is open but not one jot of cooking smells in the restaurant. Definitely returning.

Grown up kids, partners and husband went on Valentines Day - 6 of us. We were treated like royalty. Geniune warm italian hospitality at its best. Very good menu which catered for our party of vegetarians, carnivores and fussy eaters. We had the nibbles to share - the slow cooked lamb croquette, pane and olives were all excellent. The beef fillet tartare was melt in the mouth. I recommend the squid ink linguine with white crab meat, however the butternut squash risotto was a huge hit. My fussy husband had the fish of the day, hake, which was cooked to perfection. The food was stunning. And generous portions at reasonable prices so great value for money. We will definitely be going back - and regularly.

Staff very lovely and food was gorgeous. The risotto was the absolute highlight of the night and I wish I had room for dessert. The food comes so quick though there isn't enough time to soak up the atmosphere or digest! Otherwise a lovely Italian place

Fantastic dining experience at La Terra, the food was delicious and the dining staff were really welcoming and attentive. I had the fish of the day and it was up there as the best fish I’ve ever eaten! Each dish had so many incredible flavours, you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the menu. The setting was really lovely and romantic. Cannot recommend enough as a place to eat in Bath. Make sure to book ahead as it is a very popular place and gets booked up!

Another great dinner. Crab linguine for starters and the superb venison for mains. Good choice of Italian wines on the list. Currently best Italian in town.

We have been a few times and each time has been faultless. Food is creative, tasty and the portions are good. Atmosphere is great, in part because the food is great but also because the front of staff are excellent. Vito and his team are on hand but not in your face. Visited here with a friend after walking past. What an amazing restaurant. Feels authentically Italian and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. We each had three courses and all were delicious but the standout was the gnocchi. The waiter explained it was a different type of gnocchi, Roman gnocchi made of semolina. The flavours of the dish were sublime. Wild mushrooms, butternut squash and guanciale

La Terra has an enviable star-rating and after dining here you see why. Food quality, flavours and presentation are all excellent. The portions are quite generous and we particularly liked the lamb croquettes and the risotto. The staff are also very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. A minor but welcome bonus - only 10% service charge. Most places of this quality these days seem to charge 12.5%.

Such friendly service, an extensive vegan menu and such delicious food from both the set lunch menu and the a la carte - would highly recommend - our party was one vegan, one vegetarian and everyone else no dietary restrictions and everyone left impressed and satisfied (and very full!) Tiramisu was fantastic to round it off

I try to keep off the hyperbole when writing reviews but it's difficult in this case. We've lived in Bath for 40 years and this was the best restaurant meal we've had yet. Our main course, sea bass with a shellfish sauce was very good indeed and my starter, steak tartare, was sensational! Couple that with the friendly, discreet and well-informed service we received plus the very pleasant surroundings and we shall be back. I'm not going to pretend it's cheap, but if you value top-quality ingredients cooked by people with imagination who really know what they're doing then this place takes some beating!

4 of us had a fantastic lunch today; a mid December pre-Christmas get together. Our well behaved Jack Russell was welcome (I’d give 6 stars for this alone!). The Sancerre was great; the Christmas lunch set menu was really good; the lamb croquettes were amazing & the burrata with crispy pear was delicious. Everything super fresh. One of us had sausage pappardelle from the regular menu; it was excellent. The desserts were also superb; see pics. Staff were charming & attentive. Very popular so definitely advisable to book. We will definitely re-visit.

We found a warm welcome from this authentic Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, from the fresh scallops with induja, the risotto, the pasta with crab and delightful deserts. Faultless service. Highly recommend, we'll be back for sure.

Actually booked this restaurant accidentally as thought we’d been there before! However was not let down as the food was amazing and we all throughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were also extremely friendly and not over tentative so would definitely go back here again

What an amazing restaurant - I’m not surprised it’s so popular. The food is absolutely delicious - both the main course and the desserts were incredibly tasty. The ambience achieved there is a mixture of relaxed yet vibrant. What really stood out to me though was the friendliness of the staff, just the right amount of attentive, professional, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Restaurant with the essence of the Mediterranean. Delicious, well-prepared and original dishes. Cozy place and excellent service. A great experience that was undoubtedly enriched by the presence of Bob, a true English gentleman, an endearing and friendly guy, who was at the next table and who we were lucky enough to meet and chat with.

We had the most wonderful dinner here tonight. We came on a Wednesday at 6 pm with our 18 month old son. The staff were all so accommodating. We were able to order off a kids menu and they brought my sons food out early to keep him busy without even having to ask. For starters we had the bread service with amazing basil butter and the tartar. We were so impressed with the unique flavors in the tartar and the bread and butter was far beyond your standard fare. I had the Roman gnocchi and was blown away. If we lived in Bath I would come back for this dish over and over. My husband had the filet and it was super tender with an amazing mustard sauce and truffle chips. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The service was warm and friendly and it felt like you were a guest in their home. I hope to come back to Bath someday and this will be my first stop.

Lovely little place with great food, staff a tad disjointed. Here for the Christmas market where I took a friend out for her birthday and trying all the best places in Bath, I'm a massive foodie so would definitely come back again however there was a somewhat grumpy gentleman there I thought he'd be best staying at home than dealing with people. Other than that try it!

We asked our hotel concierge to make us a dinner reservation at an Italian restaurant and they booked us a table at "La Terra". We didn't really know what to expect but WOW, it was some of the best & freshest Italian food we've ever...

The ambiance was wonderful, cosy yet friendly, the food exceptional and the service first rate. We had a fabulous meal. Best in Bath!

Absolutely outstanding Italian food! The gnocchi was so good I’d happily have gone back for lunch today to eat it again - we had supper there last night. Wonderful service, and considering the quality of everything- reasonably priced. A definite reason to return to Bath!

This is our "go to" in Bath at the moment. Great food made with fresh produce and great service.

Absolutely amazing food. The venison was superb. Service was calm, friendly, efficient, and charming. I can’t speak highly enough if this lovely place. Decor is modern yet intimate. It doesn’t scream “Chic” or “Cool”. It’s understated and comfy. Eat here if you can.
