Lovely food and staff, highly recommended

Very busy so book in advance. Friendly. Gluten free options available. Very popular. Tucked away down a small side street but worth finding. Large well lit car park at the rear free after 6pm. Not on level, must climb stairs to first floor to dine.

I had the carbonara, it was too creamy and made with Spaghetti instead of linguini. The Waitress staff were too persistent and in your face too much, so it wasn't that relaxing.

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Went for lunch on Saturday with some girlfriends. Very nice.

Heard great things about this restaurant..... king prawns starter was delicious. Unfortunately my filet steak wasn't blue as requested was medium/ rare... was edible but not to my liking. Seats were embarrassingly tatty, service was good but with only one person on duty was very slow

Best Italian restaurant in Sussex, been coming here since it opened and have never been disappointed! Good quality, mouth watering food and 1 million times better than the awful La Galleria in Shoreham. Had a great valentines meal here and will continue supporting this small local business in the future. Becko the man, the myth, the legend cooks unbelievable food, with my personal favourite being the garlic Mozzarella ball starters called (La Tavola io) i think🤣. Buon Appetito!! 🍕 🧀

It is absolutely delicious, definitely in my top 5 restaurants in West Sussex! The pizza rolls in the starter option are divine. Ceasar salad... omg! Seafood risotto, its mouth watering.

A bit cold and too bright. They were happy to dim the lights when I asked, but they seem to go back up again. It’s a shame because those lights are like the Dentist. Lighting affects atmosphere. As people are leaving, the draft was icy cold my food instantly was cold. So every time that door opened, we just froze. Shame about the temperature and the bright lights apart from that it’s a great restaurant. 🇮🇹

We had Lasagne and spaghetti marinara and the food was amazing. The Banofee pie was nice too. Nice and clean restaurant. The benches could do with refurbishment and the menu outside at the entry door has the wrong prices which got sorted and we weren't asked to pay any extra charges. Other than that all good and we will visit again

The place is great, but can be a bit noisy. The service is truly excellent, and the menu is varied and very well presented. What I ordered (the salmon in a creame sauce) was absolutely excellent, though others in the party had very minor niggles, hence the 4 stars for food instead of 5... But I'll certainly be going again!

Myself and partner went Saturday night the 14th. We prebooked the table lucky we did as it was very busy. The prawn starters came out and not long afterwards the two main steak dinners came out. Well both the starters and main courses were excellent 👌 👏. So we shared a banoffee pie. We both will definitely be going back. All of the lovely girls working there can't do enough to make you feel welcome Well done. And a massive thanks to the chefs who work so hard.

Nice food, not great with allergies and intolerances. We asked if an item was gluten free and they said they would ask and never came back. We made sure all items were vegan but then were served with crispy cheese on top which is not vegan. The risotto, I've had it in the past and it was delicious but this time the rice was crunchy. There's a difference between al dente and undercooked and this was definitely undercooked. Friendly staff.

We had a meal for two, 'date night' at 'La Tavola' last night. When we arrived, we were greeted in a friendly manner by the Italian waitress; she took us through the bustling restaurant to our table. It was a busy Saturday night, and the atmosphere was great - buzzing, happy, and a true authentic italian style. We were given a good amount of time to read over the drinks menu - not too long - but not rushed. Our waitress knew the cocktails that were available for the evening. They aren't listed on the menu as they are 'drinks specials'. We chose an Espresso Martini and Cosmopolitan to start the evening whilst we chose our food. The menu is full of classic / typical Italian choices, and they offer a fair range of vegan and vegetarian options, gluten free choice could be better. We opted for the garlic mushrooms and capresse salad for starters and vegano La Tavola pizza for main. The Mushrooms were 5*, they were in a very tasty creamy, garlicky, white wine and parsly sauce. The quantity was perfect for a starter, and it was presented nicely. The Capresse salad was also delicious. The amount of mozzarella, tomato, and basil was well balanced and very tasty. Presentation had been carefully arranged around the plate in a typical Italian style. Our waitress noticed quickly when we had finished and cleared our plates away. We ordered some wine that was promptly brought to the table, offering for us to taste before fully pouring. The waitress was friendly and engaged in a conversation about the restaurant and its background and about the menu. This, we felt, showed very good service, given how busy the restaurant was; she didn't make us feel rushed or that she was too busy for conversation. Our pizzas arrived, and the slight adjustments to the order had been carried out so that our pizza was perfect and as ordered. The pizza was delicious, quite moist, and better / easier to eat with a knife and fork, so if you prefer your pizza less moist- I would suggest this is expressed when ordering. For dessert, we opted for the vegan cheescake- a very tasty, creamy vanilla cheesecake with a crunchy biscuit base. A real treat. Overall, the whole evening was a very pleasant evening, we left happy, full and satisfied. The service was brilliant, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was buzzing. The only criticism would be the cushioned bench seats we sat on were damaged. Probably from cleaning, I imagine. It would be very inexpensive to cover this temporarily until it is fixed properly and it was a shame to have it like this for customers. There were also a couple of missing ceiling panels. These small issues impacting the overall classic and modern aesthetics of the restaurant. Other reviews stated about dogs being welcome- I'm not sure this is the case, there were no dogs. To be honest, I don't think it is suited for dogs being a cosy, busy restaurant with no outdoor seating. There is no wheelchair access unfortunately, you have a small flight of stairs to enter the restaurant. We would definitely recommend, La Tavola, a small hidden gem in Southwick.

Lovely birthday dinner with my mate on my last night in UK! Everything was perfect! From starters of garlic mushrooms and caprese salad, Penne La Tavola, Spaghetti Carbonara, chocolate fudge cake, and Tia Maria coffee. Thanks for everything!

Have eaten so many times during a week day and enjoyed the quality of service and the delicious meals the four of us would highly recommend without hesitation, we eat something different every time we go and certainly eating away the menu congratulations to the owner and fantastic staff

We came to the restaurant after seeing a review from Arvin Dev 3 months ago saying the restaurant is dog friendly. Unfortunately this restaurant is NOT dog friendly. We booked and confirmed on the phone that dogs are allowed. However after arriving the waitress gave us the 3rd degree and kept repeating that he wasn’t allowed, after even advising he was a therapy dog. Our dog has been allowed in a hospital and is a small cavapoo who is very calm. Avoid if you have a dog!!

Our small group of croquet players was delighted to follow a recommendation to find this restaurant which is not very visible at street level. We were rewarded by great hospitality serving very good food in nice surroundings at a good price. My slight disappointment was having a stool rather than a proper seat with a back. Menu is typical rather than great.

Dined here on Saturday evening when staying in Brighton for the weekend - what a fabulous little place!! Quite tucked out of the way and would not have noticed it walking past so a very lucky find!! Food was fab, I was looking forward to a nice Italian meal and there was a great menu to choose from. Dessert was especially good and the waitresses were smiling and friendly despite it being a rather warm night and as the restaurant is upstairs it did feel quite warm up there. Would 100% recommend and revisit if in the area again

A fantastic Italian restaurant.the food is amazing the specials are worth coming here alone. I had a special with seafood and a pizza. I could not believe my luck that such a place exists so close. My dog Nessy was welcome and treated respectfully. The only bad thing is you must come in using stairs as it's on the second floor of the building and no lift. All in all come here for a fancy meal, date or just some yummy pizza with drinks. Update ..having been back several times I can say the food has been consistently great as well as some great specials ..I have upped my review from a 4 to a 5 ⭐

My Daughter and I had fantastic 3 course meals with drinks which came very quickly, served by a friendly waitress. Everything we ate was delicious and we will be visiting again.

The place had an enjoyable atmosphere, lively but not too loud. Food was high quality and reasonably priced. Service was attentive and friendly. Went for a family meal as a 10, everyone enjoyed. Had to knock a star as they sold out of Tiramisu. Nice place though, would go again. If you want to go on a Saturday night, I'd pre-book as was almost full. Pro tip: ask them to bring over some chilli oil, it was banging 👌

Food very good if you dont mind a childrens portion. Normally i have no complaints but after my recent experience of the small portion given for a pasta dish i was very disappointed especially when the meal on its own was £12.00. Mrs Williams.

Really standard menu, sturdy reliable food, just a perfectly fine local neighbourhood Italian. Nothing wrong on the culinary front, but equally nothing to blow your socks off. Decor is nod and a wink showy. What elevates it is the really delightful staff, who were wonderful with our five year old and gave us all a thoroughly pleasant experience.

A bit of a hidden gem. On the first floor above Hanwells shop. Well worth a booking.

An upper floor restaurant in a secondary shopping area with an external side access doesn't sound very promising but you will be surprised how good this restaurant is.

Beautiful place went to celebrate my niece birthday and everything was perfect, thank you so much for looking after 15 of us we did have a great evening will be definitely back and almost forgot thanks to chefs for delicious food

We booked in the afternoon and were told they needed the table back by 7pm, which was fine by us as we needed to get the kids home for bed. At 6:20pm it was clear we were no longer welcome. Excessive cleaning and asking if I was going to finish my drink was mildly irattating, but spraying antibacterial spray on my gloves and in the face of my 18 month old was infuriating and I made a complaint, but it wasn't taken seriously. It's hard enough trying to enjoy a night out with a young family without this unnecessary pressure and the night was ruined. We live within walking distance of this restaurant, won't be back and certainly won't be recommending to families with young kids.

My wife had the spaghetti marinara which was disappointing for its fish content but nicely spicey. I had the penne pasta pollo which I enjoyed and was nicely flavoursome. We also shared a garlic bread with cheese at £4.00 which was lacking in flavour punch and extremely expensive for what it was ..... 2 small slices of bread; for the price I would have expected at least half a large baguette size - this was shere profiteering and very disappointing.

We love this place ,food is excellent ,always hot, fresh and presentation is excellent. Staff are very lovely friendly and polite. The owner ,chef ,when he has time will always say hello and speak to the customers . You can't fault this lovely local restaurant. Prices are good and not over priced for eating out. Will be returning again soon. Thankyou again for a lovely meal we had last night.

Came here on Saturday night for my partners birthday, the service from the staff was great. We had a table of ten and everyone had something different, personally I had the fillet steak and it was fantastic, better than most steaks I've had in the area, Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. Price was very reasonable for ten of us. Portion sizes were great and also the kids meals were really big. Cocktails were very good aswell. We have tried all the local Italian resteraunts and for me this was by far the best. We will be back here for sure!

Nice place and main courses tasty. Desserts are awful. Ice cream is powdery. Worse tiramisu I have ever had. Definitely not home made and covered in a cheap sweet chocolate sauce. Lemon cake sub standard.
