Fish in Adur

Up until recently, I had a good online experience with with them. However, in my recent order, I noted that they have included 2 very small prawns in my order (see photo). I felt that this is unfair as for a premium price that we are paying, we are paying for the 12 pieces of prawn per order and not per weight. And in the basis of fairness, I think the sizes they are providing should not be in random. I have sent a complaint email to highlight this (not asking for any compensation whatsoever) but I have expected that they would at least provide assurance for the future orders. But, their response was disappointing, saying "we're sorry.. you may prefer to visit our shop in future to choose the prawns you want". So, I am taking that as, if you order your fish online, you could either expect equal decent sized product or a randomly sized prawn (or any product sold by number of pieces) not knowing if perhaps more than half of your order of prawn would turn up to be very small.

Just popped in for a couple of white fish fillets and came out with a lot more! Excellent choice, quality and you can buy exactly the size you want. Easy off street free parking. Well worth a visit.

Visited on 28 Sep. Fish usually cleaned really well but left with huge amount of scales today. Disappointing. Also queuing system bit of a lottery. Not sure why the excellent ticket system not used today.

Best wet fish shop on the South Coast. Daily catches from own fleet. Good selection of fresh and frozen fish and seafood. Weekends can be busy, midweek best.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They offer a wide range of seafood that are of excellent quality. I have been a repeat customer and have always enjoyed my shopping experiences here. I highly recommend this shop.

You can get live crab and lobster from here as well as many other seafood. Plenty of parking and staff are friendly and professional.

The Best fishmongers in Brighton ! With an excellent range, daily catch and their own fleet - it doesn’t get better than this for fresh fish. I am continually impressed with the quality of the stock on this counter and more so the fantastic service given by the staff. Be sure to get there early as the queues can go out the door…!

Cannot comment on the shop because I didn't get to buy anything. The shop is not open until 7pm on Thursdays. Please change the open times on Google.

Bad delivery. Left at front door even though we were in. We have a ring door bell so we would know if he pressed the bell. Packaging was in such a bad state ice and fish went everywhere when we picked it up.

Nice and clean fish market. We got ourselves fresh and tasty squid from our visit here.

Very well displayed choice of fresh fish much of which is local. We bought Cornish mussels (very clean and tasty), turbot which was fresh and meaty, and cod fillets, but it all looked appealing and we would happily have bought any of the products. Friendly, helpful staff and we will be back soon. The ready to eat products such as fish au gratin and fish cakes also looked good, as well as smoked and frozen fish and shellfish. Interestingly, there was also a cabinet with well-prepared prepacked charcuterie.

Excellent place for all Sea Food, fresh produce and great selection. I always travel 11 miles from home to buy from here, missing out two other fresh fish stalls on the way. Prices need to be kept in line with others though.

If it grew in the sea, and you want to eat it, this is the place to buy it. They have the freshest catches, literally off the boat, and a great variety of seafood from wider afield, if you're happy with frozen produce. Keen prices, ample choice, friendly staff ... worth queuing at busy times

Good choice of fresh fish. Only complaint is when we asked them to clean and gut the fish it wasn't completely done.

Through lockdown I've used the delivery service and its been delivered on time, well presented, chilled and all ready to cook/eat as you would hope. A great facility & easy to use, the quality of produce has been excellent and the service friendly, great job FISH !!

We ordered a fruit de mer for our wedding anniversary last Saturday! It was delivered as promised at 10am and we were not disappointed!!! The most fabulous array of seafood, beautifully presented and including various sauces and an oyster knife. Easily enough to feed 4/5 people with the addition of some bread, the only other thing needed is a bottle or two of ice cold Chablis! Ordering was easy and the staff member I spoke to was polite, helpful and informative. Looking forward to another excuse to order!!

This is a great place. Not sure whether prices are over, under, or equivalent to supermarket etc, but the quality is top notch. They team in there are great. They will happily help if you aren't sure or don't know and they don't make you feel like a dummy. I would not hesitate to recommend.

My second visit and a pleasure as before with a large team of knowledgeable helpful staff who provide great cooking & storage tips. Very impressed by the plaice in particular. A great seasonal array of quality fresh fish as well as smoked & frozen seafoods plus sauces & condiments for every occasion and budget. Whenever we're in the area we will return

This is a good place for you to buy seafood. No matter you would like to buy the fresh one or the frozen one. You will have a lot of choices !!! The shop is now under renovation at this moment (4th February 2020). I hope we can visit the new shop in the near future. In the meantime, you can still visit the temporary stall (just opposite to the existing one) and pick the fresh fishes.

Was a ex staff member here, worked in the shop.I can honestly say the Fish quality is excellent . Not that I'm biased however I worked around it every week and I personally ate a fair share. Staff are lovely especially in the shop. If you find them friendly and polite it's because it's coming from a genuine place. It was a pleasant experience overall to work for this company. Keep up the good work everyone! As for being staff I felt my bosses Charlie and Bill listened to me and gave respect and time which goes a long way in treating staff. In my opinion that's imperative to a work place long term. Thanks for the job and the great fish! Highly recommended folks. Now go buy some awesome fish!

I been here before and it very good fish but i be coming back for sure like eating the fresh fish.

We bought a lovely looking cooked crab from here today. However, it was empty, absolutely NO brown meat in it whatsoever. Very disappointed ☹️

A fantastic selection of fish and shellfish lots of it caught by local dayboats. Very easy to find and with a huge carpark, this is definitely the best place to buy fish in Brighton & Hove. Great fresh fish and very knowledgeable staff, who prepare the fish perfectly. There live crabs and lobsters, though dressed crabs are also available. A huge selection of frozen seafood too, as well as some delicious smoked fish. They also run fish preparation courses, which are a fantastic way to learn how to filet and prepare flat and round fish. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

I have been regularly visiting the shop for many years. Excellent place to buy high quality fish. The only pity is the shop closes on Sundays. Opening even just for a couple of hours on Sunday will be very helpful.

Since the demise of the magisterial Kevin's of Richardson Road, BNFS has become the mainstay of fresh seafood supplies to the local community. Variety is excellent, seasonal, locally and sustainably sourced. Pricing is good. Quality is superb, much better than supermarkets. Extra brownie points for selling samphire, frozen items and cured meats. The store could be improved by: 1. Stocking locally smoked fish - we all miss Kevin's amazing kippers and smoked haddock - or even running a small smoke house themselves. 2. Re-instating the queue ticket machine. Some of the older customers get literally shoved aside by the brassier locals when it's busy. This would and really help the civility level and be more fair, too. Conclusion: recommended, but could, and should, improve when improving is so easy.

From boat to slab this place sells some of the freshest fish around. Live lobsters and crabs. Friendly and efficient service. Easy access. Car park.

The young staff need to be sent on a customer service course. Very surly, more interested in joking among themselves, and when they get around to serving customers they hurry you along and provide no help and advice. Some of the girls are good, but the big chap, wow! They seem to think that they are doing us a favour! The fish on offer is good, but quite expensive.

Always the freshest fish EVER, if you are anywhere in the vicinity there is no other place to buy your fish! Knowledgeable, clean, fresh and great service. I totally recommend!

Always a great selection of local and high quality fish and shellfish. It’s displayed so you know what’s local. The staff are knowledgeable and will help you with choice. I’ve also done their fish preparation courses which I highly recommend. It’s expanded what fish I use in the kitchen. A great local business that I’m happy to support!

Good quality and variety of fish but very disappointed to see them stocking species that are on the Marine Conservation Society 'do not eat' list for sustainability (e.g. big grey mullet).
