La Tabella in Sefton

Been probably two years since last visit so thought we’d give it another go. Probably best garlic bread I’ve ever had and really good carbonara and pizza. It has increased in price and is more than similar in town but it is still good and as I can walk in it saves a taxi fare!

My favourite place to dine. All the staff are fantastic as is the food. The Chef (Andy) is particularly gorgeous. Can’t wait to go back.

So the night started with the plan of visiting a different restaurant, reservations had been made and we were looking forward to tapas in Churchtown village. Sadly the night took a turn for the worse when the restaurant in question suddenly informed us of a change of menu that involved getting significantly less for considerably more money than was stated on their own website. We questioned the suggested menu only to be told that they reserved the right to change the menu and offers. We took our leave and left. Luckily we headed into next door and met George who could not have been more helpful. Within minutes he and Rob had organised a table for us. Food excellent, service superb, excellent wine and a lesson learned. Always stick with the people who treat you as if you matter. Thank you from us both.

Service and food is excellent. A party of 4 we had steaks, pasta and pizza, faultless. Wine list was brilliant as well. Really enjoyed our meal and the staff are really lovely. Don’t forget this place in your choice, you won’t be disappointed.

This place used to be great but our last 3 visits have been poor and enough is enough. I forgot my pizza was bad the previous visit and ordered pizza again. It was cremated and tasted bitter and of burnt charcoal. I complained and the waitress/manger?? said " We will make you another but it will probably be the same they come to us like that! " So no point in having another but I was shocked! Here is a pizza place buying in pre cooked bases and either just warming them up or adding extra burn as they " cook " them...well heat them up and add their toppings. Very disappointed as this place is so local to us. ( We brought you a midweek party of 10 not long ago and a £500 bill when you used to be good.) My wifes pasta was bland. We will not be returning to throw more good money after bad. There's plenty of other places to go to in Southport though sadly few that are good. PS, No we did not tip and also did not on our previous visit either when we usually do because we really do like to reward good service and good food. This place sadly now has neither.

Both food and service were excellent. Had the specials and both were fantastic. I had the Italian fish stew which was perfectly matched with the home made focaccia. I can recommend this place as a comfortable place to sit, relax and enjoy great food.

Lovely food . Only spoilt by the girl manager who was very rude. Slamming the cutlery down and telling us we had to hurry up with our pudding choices as the kitchen was closing seconds after we were given the menu by a very polite greek waitor called George (we believe). She then attacked us verbally by complaining about her attitude. She was very rude and wouldn't listen to us. She needs to go on staff training to improve her manner and customer service. It's a shame and because of her we won't be going again!!!! Despite the good manners of the other writer. She spolit our evening and we suggest the owner needs to train her in good manners and communication with the public skills.

The ribs as a main course not starter are absolutely fantastic would recommend to anyone carnt wait to go again

Four of us visited today for lunch. The restaurant is spotless, everything is perfect , even down to the chilled bottled water. We ordered our food and everyone of us commented how tasty our individual meals were. The lunchtime special is a fantastic bargain. Great food, great staff and brilliant location. Thankyou

Menu very limited used to be extensive now just pizza & pasta. Area downstairs was like a very busy pub - not big enough to accommodate a drinking trade, Waited ages for waitress to take drinks orders food was good just nothing special We thought the wine was very overpriced in comparison to the menu, didn’t sit right somehow. Used to be a great eatery now seems like he wants a drinks trade. Shame really we used to love it here x x

This was our second visit to this Italian. We ordered pizzas and they were exceptional - really fresh and delicious. We just felt that there was one waitress who wasn't as genuinely friendly as everyone else, she was constantly looking elsewhere when she spoke to us, like she wasn't interested in our answers. It was a shame as the other waiter was very attentive. Other than that an excellent meal and it wouldn't stop us going back.

Spending a day in Churchtown and called in for lunch. Lunch offer was £12.50 for Pizza Pasta with 1 drink. My wife had a vegetarian Pizza and I had Carbonara. Both really delicious! 1Pino & 1 house red. 1 bucket of chunky chips for £29.00. Yesterday we paid £69 for lunch in local Wagamama. Did have 2 deserts tho'. Cannot believe the difference. Waga was OK but this was mouthwatering better. Add such friendly staff and you have the perfect combination. Will definitely be back!

Visited here with friends at lunchtime and was met by a surly staff member! He took our orders and the food was really good. I paid the bill and left a decent tip but once home, after scrutinising the bill discovered that we’d been overcharged! When I rang to query it, the guy who had served us answered the phone. He asked if we were upstairs or downstairs which made me laugh as we were the only people in there! He’d added a couple of items to the bill that we definitely hadn’t had! So beware…..check your bill before you pay. We haven’t been back!

We always enjoy visiting La Tabella, the food and service are excellent. I’d highly recommend their pizzas and pasta. They happily split these for you in the kitchen so there’s no messing around at the table. Never a bad experience, can’t wait to go back.

For food and service I would give this restaurant 5*. Our family all enjoyed their meal at the restaurant last weekend. So why 3 stars. The price of the meal advertised IS NOT what you pay. Basically they add 20% VAT to you bill. This is not illegal but underhand. Nowhere on the menu does it state that VAT is to be added. Service charge yes but not VAT. When I told my friends who dine at restaurants regularly they were amazed and agree with me that this is not an acceptable practice. To add insult the waitress forgot to charge us for 3 items but being honest I pointed out the mistake and she apologised and thanked me. Only later I realised I had been charged the full adult price for a child's meal. So I have been overcharged despite my honesty. So I suggest you boycott this restaurant until they change their menu to show the true price of a meal or they note clearly that VAT will be added.

Visiting a friend in Southport we went to La Tabella......... absolutely lovely from the welcome as we arrived, to the table upstairs with a view, to incredibly good food and friendly, efficient staff. As a vegetarian I could eat really well. Would highly recommend

Eaten here a few times and food is usually nice. However, each time I have been the manager is so rude and ruins the experience. I called to book a table and the manager spoke to me that rudely I didn't even bother booking it...

Went to the newly formed “Monday Club”. Whilst most other establishments are closed Tabella offers discounted Premium beers. To add to the experience my friend paid! (Albeit with a voucher that had been decomposing for several months in his pocket). A perfect remedy to combat the Monday blues, I highly recommend the Peroni

Disappointing visit, used to be my favourite place to eat, sadly no longer and won't be returning or recommending anymore. Menu was not up to the usual high standard and looked like a lot of cheap ingredients in the options available. Ribs were meant to be slow cooked, but were tough and the bbq sauce was acidic and inedible. The burger was sold as handmade but more like frozen supermarket standard. Again inedible. The customer service was lacking, no eye contact, not attentive and at times sarcastic. Such a shame, but to us it felt like they were trying to make as much profit as possible with minimal effort.

Usually visit and have the lovely pasta dishes, as it was a special event we visited of an evening and went for the fillet steaks. They were amazing cooked perfectly, we would definitely recommend and have again. Good selection of drinks beers, wines and cocktails. Normally have the half or full carafes of house wine this time went for the prosecco, all are very good.

Won’t return I think menus very poor to what it used to be like on a Saturday only me and the wife and two other blokes in nearly 1 o’clock not very busy at al at all what’s up with the place the price to exspensive that’s what no much filling with either mine or me wife’s not much flavour I can’t believe it they didn’t even answer the phone so we traveled down seemed like they were all talking in the kitchen Very sad used to be buzzing this place

The restaurant was busy upon arrival at 6pm. We had pre booked a table, and i belive you would need to, due to the popularity of this amazing little place. The food itself was absolutely amazing, very well presented and so very tasty. I would highly recommend a visit here. The service was good, and the staff were polite.

Went for a family meal. The food was great. Can recommend the Crab starter and the King Prawn Pasta dish. Finished with Creme brulee. Would recommend you book as it gets busy in evening. Thanks for great service and fantastic food.

Superb food, menu was great with a variety of choices. My pasta main of King Prawns garlic, chilli and tomato was beautiful. Crab lemon dill Mayo starter was also very nice.

We walked into a very friendly greeting from the young waitress, and shown to our table and given the drinks and food menus, if you have an interest in the more unusual Beers they have a great selection. From taking our order to the service of our drinks and food we were more than impressed with the level of service we received, we started with the Meatballs followed by a couple of Pizzas both truly excellent, if you know and love the real deal Italian food you can not go wrong here, fantastic little Restaurant and well worth a visit, this was our first time here but definitely will not be the last, and the best bit of all is it did not cost an arm and a leg.

Visited at lunch sat in the sun it is perfect . Had a lovely meal , great menu and wine list choices . Staff extremely friendly and welcoming . Well done

Al fresco menu is a bit limited but still delicious. We had Caesar salad and two pizzas which were freshly prepared and as lovely as ever. Nice to actually order from a menu for a change rather than see what the fridge offers.

Excellent service as always. Great to see that now I am on Keto diet they can accommodate this in their menu! Love it! Just need a keto based pizza and they have smashed it!!! Great job by all the team @labelle

The staff were unfriendly and un-attentive and the behaviour of the owner was shocking. We visited for a friends birthday and felt antagonised as soon as we entered the restaurant. The food was small, extremely overpriced and took a long time to arrive even with only 4 tables in the whole restaurant? We could see the staff arguing at the back of the restaurant and the owner, sat having a pint with his mates who I’m sure he doesn’t live with, would stare at us whenever we got up. The menu is shambolic also, Christmas dinner on a pizza was one option. Do not plan on ever returning and neither do any of my party some of whom have been visiting this restaurant for years.

Food was extremely poor and over priced. Would definitely not recommend it. Worst Italian meal I’ve ever had .

Excellent lunch today at La Tabella. Staff looked after us and the COVID measures were spot on and made us feel very safe. Well done guys!! Food was lovely and overall highly recommended!!

Some of the Food was great. Staff let it down as we felt like they weren’t the most friendly and didn’t seem on the ball with things.

We have eaten here many times when visiting family. This is always our restaurant of choice. The service is 2nd to none, food is always well presented and very good. I have had burgers, chicken and pasta meals so can speak for a good selection of meals, the house wine is always pleasant.Wish we lived nearer, well done and keep up the high standard.

We've just visited La Tabella. The food was very good, the service was fine but the music was so VERY, VERY LOUD. The first lot of music was modern rock, which we thought was inappropriate for an intimate Italian restaurant then we had the three tenors, but like I say it was SO LOUD. There were other people in the restaurant, so if it was fine for them it should have been fine for us. But it wasn't. Had we been the only ones in the restaurant I would have asked them to turn the music DOWN! But we weren't so we had to tough it out. We live really local to La Tabella, we won't be going again. Which is sad, supporting local businesses and all that,but the owners ought to be more in tune with customer needs.

Visited with family and have mixed reviews. The children's pizza was the size of a small pizza from the co op and was not good value for money. I have had much better garlic bread in other restaurants.The children's spag bol was very good.No complaints about cal zone but my pizza was poor value for 12.00Stodgy with little taste and hardly any tomatoe. Social distancing waitresses and cleanliness was fine.

Visited a few times in August. Staff, atmosphere and food cannot be faulted. We have eaten off the grill, pastas, starters and dessert. Social distancing and safety during Covid have been adhered to. Plenty of hand sanitiser, tables cleaned between use and well spaced out. Tables laid when you arrive. Nice spaced out seating outside for a drink on a sunny evening. Special offers taken off the menu but people are getting half price food with the " Eat out to help out ". Love our local restaurant and glad to support!

LA TABELLA provided a fantastic takeaway service with three delicious piping hot pizzas and salads.It was lovely to see a local business thriving in these difficult times. We have been shielding so this was our first venture out to eat even if a small step. From what I witnessed La TABELLA have worked very hard to put all the right protocols in place to ensure customer and staff safety.Next step is to eat in which we will hopefully try soon but listening to the phone calls will need to book well in advance.

We booked a table Sunday 2nd August first time out since March. Arrived 30mins before due time sat outside to have a drink at bar next door, quiet busy but social distancing was fine. Went inside for our meal shown to our table upstairs. Ordered drinks looked at menu and noticed it had changed no 2/3 course set menu.We. thought menu was quite expensive ordered our food ok but nothing special. Ordered taxi and went downstairs to wait outside you couldn’t move outside pavement and road where heaving with people no distancing at all. Overall experience not very good not what it used to be.

i have been here several times,always been very good. however last night was so disappointing. after paying the bill and voicing my criticisms to the waitress[no complaint with her] she said she would pass my concerns to the manager. she returned to say they would "sort it out" at the bar on our way out. i left after 5minutes because nobody approached me . starter of prawns salmon was okay , bruschetta 4little pieces of crispy bread rocket and basil was topped with cold diced tomatoes and no balsamic vinegar was an absolute rip off at 5.50. 2 pizzas were just loads of dry stodgy dough very little tomato sauce and the mozzarella was not cooked enough. who thought of putting 4slices of cold tomato on a pizza? the ham and mushroom pizza had 6 slices of undercooked mushroom and a few pieces of ham.was the chef on his day off . also are you not implementing the vat cut. i look forward to your comments or will you ignore me again?

Love this place and keen to support our local post lockdown. Had to book and turn up at correct time so they stagger people in and out etc. Think this prob better for kitchen too. Had delicious meals on our table for 4 including ribs, pate, pizzas, pasta, garlic bread and cheesecake washed down with plenty wine etc. Really couldn’t fault them with covid measures and didn’t feel reckless or irresponsible for going out as contact was limited. Downstairs is now a deli/wine bar so we did stop for a drink in there before going home

We ordered takeout last night for my Son’s birthday and it was absolutely delicious - would thoroughly recommend. Please support our local businesses where you can during these difficult times.

6 of us dined here last night. The food was incredible and the service was superb. Starters of ribs and gamberetti with salmon ... deliciousMains of 3 fillet steaks, 2 lamb and 1 chicken ... all 6 cooked to perfection. The chips are heavenly ... We had house wine (blush & red) .. very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back !!!

Liz and I were fortunate to win the Valentine's Day competition run by the restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and hosted by owner Rob and his staff and the whole experience was incredible. The hospitality was second to none and the food, as always, was absolutely sensational. The prize was a three course meal for two, plus a bottle of Prosecco and Rob really couldn't do enough to ensure that we had a fabulous experience, thank you very much indeed.

Food is quite nice here pizzas are good. However can’t quite get over paying £4 for pint a blackcurrant & soda and it being justified as two drinks because it’s in a pint. Having good offers shouldn’t be subsidised by rip off drinks!

***WARNING DO NOT EAT HERE***Locals of the area and have visited this restaurant on several occasions. Visited with my mother continuing the celebrations of her 25th wedding anniversary.After waiting 10 minutes to be offered drinks we asked if we were could order them, waitress snarled and 10 minutes later we received 2 glasses of wine. After waiting another 10 minutes we asked if we could order food. BOTH what mum and I had ordered they had ran out of. (An Italian restaurant having no lasagne????) anyway so we asked for 2 minutes longer to choose again. After ANOTHER 10 minutes we asked if we could order food. I said to the man that came over we were upset we had been waiting so long to order. His response being “you haven’t waited that long”. To which I said we had waited 40 minutes to order food. He went over to the other staff to “check” we had been waiting that long and they all laughed at us from the bar, snarling and making my mum very very upset. I said the customers always right. His response being “the customer is never right.”When he came back to take our food order, my mum nearly in tears I said we are just going to leave. Walking out I said I’m not paying for the drinks because we hadn’t touched them and the response shouted throughout the restaurant was “DO NOT COME BACK”Arrived at 7.30, left at 8.25.Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the staff!!!! Luckily we went for a LOVELY meal at the office bar and restaurant and were treated like royalty there.WE WERE REGULAR CUSTOMERS AND WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!! We were a group of 4 people who ordered 4 different dishes, all which were absolutely delicious. Two of the dishes served were really good sized portion, but both my husband's and my pasta dishes were very, very small portions. They looked smaller than a children's meal. The prices were incredibly reasonable so I had thought we ordered from the starter menu, but that was not the case. I really do think that La Tabella is missing something here as personally I would be happy to pay a bit more and not go home hungry. Glad the other portions were quite large (not pasta dishes) so we could share!

We went for my wife's birthday and booking a table for 6 was very easy. Friendly staff when we arrived, one member of staff opened the side door to let some cool air in as it was very warm inside. Food was amazing from starters, mains to desserts and amazing value for money too, really cheap I thought they had give me the wrong bill when it was time to pay. Midweek menu specials are so cheap but the food is out of this world. Keep up the good work and see u very soon

Myself & my husband visited this restaurant recently. We decided on a pepperoni pizza between us both to start, which was nice but we’ve both had much better. Then for our mains, my husband had the fillet steak pasta, he said the taste was ok, the portion size was very very small. I decided on the carbonara, again tasted nice but the portion was like starter..comparing from other restaurants we like to visit, I would say the portion sizes are half the size of what we would expect. Because of the portion sizes, I think the prices are steep. For dessert we had creme brûlée’ between the both of us, I have to say, it was the best creme brûlée we’ve both ever tasted, it was delicious. Service was mediocre, we were the only people in the restaurant when we visited and the waitress’ were just stood around talking, I asked for a few things like butter and mayonnaise but they had been forgotten.

Came here Sunday 8th September 14 of us sat upstairs . Service was good . Food was good and served in good time . I like draught beer but they only do bottles .

Had a decent meal. Food service and ambience all good. Definitely give the mussels a try they where very good! Worth a visit. Good value for money

We thought it would be easy to get a table on a Thursday evening without booking. How wrong we were! We were incredibly lucky to secure the last table and the staff were extremely accommodating. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. Thoroughly recommended!

Super nice. Great time, food was lovely and I had a amazing night out with family. I recommend you go.

Positives first - the service and food were excellent. And to be fair, it wasn’t the restaurant’s fault that diners on nearby table for 7 were loud and arguing about religion amongst other things. It totally spoiled our evening. Maybe they could consider not putting tables for 2 next to the larger ones as they’ll inevitably be more noisy even when not behaving inappropriately as these were. Not sure we’ll risk going back which is a shame because we really like it usually.

We went here a month ago and had an amazing meal, we even commented to the owner as we left what amazing meal we had and the service was excellent. So tonight we went again and this time brought our son and what a difference in service and meal standards. Husband had ribs that had obviously been microwaved so dry and chewy., to be fair pate and garlic bread was ok, but toast with pate was soggy. Husband had lamb that had been over microwaved and then covered in sauce, sons lasagne had been microwaved as it was dry and pasta hard. I had steak pasta which was chewy, definitely not fillet with watery sauce and over cooked pasta. We had a ver6 surly waitress who asked my son if f he wanted a coke which I responded know , she just scowled at me. She asked if meal was ok we said no, offered to make something else but we had been put off. No apology but lamb was taken off Bill. Once we had said meal was poorly we were treated like leppers and the surly waitress continued to stare and scowl at us. For a midweek meal at £60 we won’t be returning such a shame

Enjoyed the pizza, risotto and pasta at this popular restaurant. Great service. Good variety of desserts as well, especially ice creams.

We had appetizer plates as we aren't pizza or pasta fans. The food was good. Kids had burgers and liked them. We have a dairy allergy in the family and they managed that extremely well

Had a wonderful day at our Grandaughter's christening at St Cuthberts in Churchtown. After a lovely service we came back to La Tabella which is a stones throw away. We go very regularly to this restaurant, but have never been for a buffet function. Can't recommend it enough.The food was great and so plentiful. The staff were really good with the children, which makes such a big difference as it can be challenging. A big thanks Rob, and all your staff, you all go above and beyond and we are reallygreatful!

We visited La Tabella last weekend. The food portions were extremely small which I’d sort of expect during the week with the 2 course offer but it was a Saturday and I thought you might get more for your money?? I had mushrooms to start and I only got 4.. and my pizza was tiny. I think it’s the first Italian restaurant I’ve been to and felt like I needed a chippy after.

Lucky enough to be able to have this little gem on my doorstep. Food is wonderful, always fresh ingredients, always really lovely, Service is great. Can't fault the place, Try it!

I used to visit La Tabella on a regular basis as the food was always amazing, although the last 2/3 times I have been it has not been great. One time we had to return the food twice as it was undercooked then over cooked (burnt) & the other two times have just not been a good standard. This restaurant used to be my go to, but I don’t think I will be returning again.

Ate today with my wife and our 2 girls. We went off the pizza and pasta deal which was any dish for £5 on a Sunday and it was lovely.

We visited as a party of seven for a birthday meal. In our group were five adults and two children, one six year old and a two year old. The staff were very welcoming and it was relatively early into the evening service so the place was quiet.

Lovely meal with a friend . We had antipasti platter to start which was a generous potion with good variety . Main courses we had linguine dishes which were exactly how we liked them & bottle of Merlot wine all served by friendly and efficient staff . Reasonable price and tasteful decor . I would recommend . Regularly visit the restaurant in churchtown. Great weekday deal is two courses for £12 so seems like no brainer. My favourite is Parmesan fritters followed by pollo Cremosa but had loads other dishes including pizza, ribs, pate, salad and it’s always delicious. Desserts good too so it’s an all round winner. Great staff, great food, great service,great price so you can see why it’s a firm favourite.

Visited here for the first time for a family meal for my daughters birthday. Service was friendly and efficient, quality of the food was lovely and the Sunday offers are great value for money and desserts were amazing. They will play happy birthday and pop a sparkler in the birthday persons dessert on request which was lovely. Will definitely visit again in the future!

This restaurant is generally a really great visit every time, there have been a couple of times recently and the portion sizes seem to be a bit small, I would personally say they mains portions particularly the pasta needs to be slightly larger as of recent. But generally it's always good food and good value.

Great atmosphere and service from lovely staff. Had capricciosa pizza - very tasty with gernerous toppings, followed by fruit in baskets. House wine good here too

We had an amazing night out beautiful food gorgeous surroundings and fantastic staff. Even after I had made an incorrect booking they were so helpful and professional.

Went on a Sunday when pizza n pasta is £5 with no supplements added. We enjoyed it and thought it one of the best Italians we'd been to for a long time however the Sunday roast was abit disappointing. Lamb which was tough, I suspect it was shoulder which can't be treated or cooked like keg of lamb however that was the only complaint. The party had prawns wrapped in smoked salmon, tomato bruchetta, lobster pasta parcels, seafood linguine, lasagne, risotto, poloette made as a main course and the lamb roast, Eton mess, brandy basket, tiramisu and sticky toffee..no complaints about portion size, service or quality other than the lamb. If trying go on the Sunday before paying the true menu prices, I'd book as it's small and parking is a problem in Churchtown.

Came with a group and service was excellent but the volume of the food was dissapointing according to some party members.The pizza garlic bread was poor, have had much better in many restaurants.

The food here is great and very accommodating to my partners gluten allergy, the £5 lunch deal is also brilliant

We dined here recently and were very disappointed with the service and poor quality food. In particular one meal should never have been presented. The portion of lasagne served was burnt dry and barely edible. The waiter barely acknowledged our response to the meal at the time, the attitude inferred was, “Oh well, too bad”.

I have visited the restaurant several times and always leave satisfied with whatever I have chosen from the menu. The service is friendly and attentive, the food tasty the portions generous and the prices very reasonable. Well worth a visit

went to this restaurant 23.03.19 with my sister and her hubby for my birthday, the food was awesome and the service from the young staff was really good cannot express how nice this place is, very welcoming and amazing food, we live in Manchester but I would definitely travel to here again, thank you .

Went to Southport to stay with a friend and she decided to book this restaurant for our evening meal over the phone the restaurant was very insistant that we could only dine very early and they were going to be very busy.On arriving the place was fairly quite and remained so throughout our visit so couldn't understand why we had to go so early.Drinks ordered and served whilst we choose from the menu.When food arrived it was average for this type of restaurant and nothing special,after the main meal within the space of approx. 10 minutes we was asked 4 times by 4 different members of staff about sweets it got so annoying we got the bill and left

If it's anything I can't stand it's a greeter whose first words are "have you booked?' Then if you haven't they will put you on the worst table UPSTAIRS! The food is good, but the whole experience matters to us. Also I do not agree with charitable donations being added to the bill without asking.

I’ve visited La Tabella with family before and have had a pleasant experience, but this time it was absolutely awful. We were seated upstairs and unfortunately a large hen party was downstairs which completely ruined our evening. It was extremely noisy - loud music with them all singing along at the top of their voices, screaming and clapping, while we were having to shout to hear each other. As well as tables full of phallic shaped straws and an inflatable nude man - it was extremely inappropriate for a family restaurant. The food was nice but after this experience I won’t be returning.

Love it here, came for a family 40th this time. Service excellent as usual, nothing too much trouble even for a party of 21! Recommend the calzone....
