My new favourite restaurant in Oxford!! We ordered the gnocchi ai quattro formaggi , the cotoletta alla milanese & the La Curiosona pizza (without the meat). Everything was incredible, I literally couldn’t recommend this enough. Plus, the staff were so friendly & welcoming :)

One of the best Italian restaurant in UK, probably the best in Oxford. The food is prepared following the real Italian and Neapolitan tradition, high quality of the ingredients, you can taste it, enjoy it, easy to digest. All staff very friendly, always a pleasure to go there and spend time with my family.

Lovely friendly family run restaurant with a great atmosphere. Brilliant for anyone on a gluten free diet. The daughter/maitre D has coeliac disease so they have a great understanding of it which made me feel like I was in safe hands. They cook gluten free food separately to avoid cross contamination which meant I could eat things I never get to eat out normally like deep fried calamari. Really enjoyed our visit and everything tasted fresh and delicious.

The place looks lovely and so does the food. However the pizza was tasteless and underwhelming.

The best Italian restaurant I've tried in Oxford.

My art group had our Xmas meal at La Smorfia and we had a fabulous time! The food was delicious and the staff were so accommodating and attentive. It was easy to arrange the booking by email and Denise provided alternative menu options for our various dietary requirements, including gluten free. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner - the food and service is second to none!

The food was very good, I had cannelloni ricotta and spinach, but it was small and I wanted more food. I went to this restaurant with friends and we are learning English (context). There was a waitress who was a bit annoying, she spoke to us very quickly even though she knew that our L1 was not English and she responded badly to us. They should have more consideration for people who don't speak English.

Had the pizza home delivered last night with my wife. Absolutely excellent. Flavorsome toppings, proper crust, great cheese. The aranchini was excellent too. La Smorfia is a absolute gem and a cut above much of what passes for Italian food in Oxford.

We decided to go to La Smorfia before a gig at the nearby Oxford Academy. We're definitely going to return again as we were very impressed! My wife is Coeliac and the restaurant is probably one of the best places we've been to for gluten free food. The food, an excellent range of starters, pasta, pizza & mains was very high quality & our waitress, also Coeliac, was extremely helpful & naturally knowledgeable about our food options. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere & is well worth seeking out. We'll definitely return in the New Year, regardless of any gigs in the area! 🤘

I love the pizza here. I mostly order take away but eating in it’s nice too. Properly made pizza other main course are nice too. I had the mortazza and my girlfriend the burratina on the pork. I love the red Americana too. Really recommend

Pizza is great. Wine, not so much. You're not getting anything better than a 7£ bottle from tesco, but at 4x the price. We were a party of 25ish, obviously it takes a while to cook for so many, but while you keep people waiting, you can throw some peanuts or bread. You call yourself Italian restaurant, but there's nothing resembling that. Would definitely recommend to get pizza as takeaway from there. And we probably will.

Delicious food, very helpful wait staff.

I found this Italian restaurant by mistake and it was the best mistake I’ve made. This restaurant has the very best Italian deserts. They have the best variety. If you are a desert lover this beautiful Italian store will serve you food from the heavens. Their deserts are fresh and they have lots of verity all looks extremely beautiful and very tasty. They all look hand made and I’ll be taking my mother some of these wonderful sweet fresh deserts. I’m thinking of ordering a mixture for Christmas. I highly recommend the taste is the very best you will find in Oxford and the most authentic. I can’t believe I’ve only just found this wonderful store recently

Authentic Italian food, great service at reasonable price

I've heard the pasta's good and the red pizza margarita too but beware the white pizza - zero sauce..cheese overload...and if a pizza arrives and you're suspicious it's at all burnt, take your chance and send it back straight away.

Wasn't sure about this place when we first entered, but it quickly felt homely and welcoming as more diners arrived. You know an Italian place is good when lots of Italian people eat there! The pizza and the pasta were exceptional - definitely the best in Oxford - and really affordably priced. You get ten times the quality of the main takeaway pizza places for an equivalent price. The staff were so lovely too! Looking forward to our next visit!

I Visited this amazing restaurant with some friends last night! We had this amazing charcuterie boards to start absolutely delicious! The presentation of the plates are spot on and the food soo tasteful! I really recommend a visit!

5 stars are a must. Traditional Italian cuisine, all delicious and of great quality, raw materials that make the difference in every dish (we tried several). Here you eat real Neapolitan pizza, I recommend trying the SORRENTINA (I assure you you will not be disappointed) The service is excellent, the guys in the room are very courteous, available to advise you and attentive to customer needs. Very welcoming location, suitable for lunches or dinners with friends. At the end of the meal you can't leave without tasting the excellent desserts and the real Italian espresso. VERY SATISFIED.

I went with some friends for dinner in September, everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect. I had pizza for dinner and it was the best pizza I had in Oxford, very light and tasty. A couple of friends had pasta and the portion was very generous and super tasty. I had a “sfogliatella” and my partner had tiramisu, both to die for.. They also serve my favorite Italian beer on draught, Menabrea.. I will be back over and over again🍕

I am Italian and I can say that this is the best authentic pizza in Oxford. There is a wide choice of good and fresh toppings. The team is very nice and professional. I would totally recommend this place.

A family ran restaurant - one of the best pizza experience we had in Oxford. The dishes were really authentically Italian too. We had a separate aubergine dish and it was delicious. Beautiful al fresco dining area outside, spacious inside, and a Friendly service! What not to like? We were there for the first time but will definitely be back.

Friendly staff and amazing food

A coeliacs heaven ! After phoning ahead and speaking to a lady who had coeliacs herself I felt reassured to try La Smorfia for the first time . Lots of gluten free choices with a dedicated area for gluten free food . The food was delicious . My only negative (which won't be for others ) is you could only order wine by the bottle and not just a glass but we were driving . Definitely be going back !

Absolutely disappointed by the food. I almost thought we came to the wrong restaurant considering the excellent reviews this place has. Cannelloni and porchetta were everything but fresh. The porchetta was very dry and salty. It was an absolute joke. Cannelloni were not made to order, and they're obviously supposed to be served fresh. This place let us down massively. Won't be returning again. I thank the girls for the lovely service.

An absolute diamond in Oxford, La Smorfia offers brilliant and authentic Italian food and sweet treats. Their emphasis on importing many key ingredients as well as the excellent service puts this a cut above most Italian restaurants. A great spot for a casual dinner or occasion meal

Food was amazing.. I have ordered burratina on the pork: possibly the best pizza I had in UK in a very long time. My husband ordered spicy calzone and he loved it, one friend ordered fried pizza with meatballs and it was great too; last friend ordered pasta with clams, she said it was a bit spicy but she still enjoyed. Tiramisù was nice but a bit too sweet for me, I prefer more mascarpone and less double cream. We are definitely coming back here often and recommending it to whoever fancy a great and true Italian meal!

Lovely restaurant with a nice outdoor covered seating area, made very welcome and the food is fantastic. Thoroughly recommend the meatballs on fried pizza (!) so yummy (it's huge!)

Starters + mains it’s risky combination - there’s big chance you’ll not manage to eat all ;) Great selection of mains in menu. I was impressed by the original combinations of tastes and ingredients. Everything genuine from Italian products and handmade by super skilled chef 🫶🏼 My pasta with perfectly cooked prawns and pistachios was delicious. Same with truffle pasta 🤌🏼 perfect combination. A huge thank you to Rosa and her amazing staff for looking after us with their delicious gluten free food. We were given a warm welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. As we sat in the sun enjoying our last meal in Oxford, we decided that La Smorfia was our 'happy place'.

Such great service and lovely food! Staff are really patient and kind with my children. We come back regularly for the amazing homemade, authentic cakes to have with a smoothie or coffee (not for the kids!). Pizzas are delicious with a good vegan/vegetarian section and gluten-free options. Great spot for a chilled dinner.

Delightful family-run cafe with excellent food and even better service. The passion the owners have for authentic recipes and high quality ingredients is obvious. I'm often in here working and drinking the best coffee on Cowley Road - highly recommend.

I don't do reviews unless I really like a place. I was in a hurry and they made me a lovely pizza in about 5 mins. Their Sicilian lemonade was also great. I ate outside at the back.

I always love coming here. They might need more staff for busy shifts to speed up the process, but otherwise the food is good and the service is lovely

Very pleasant and well lit decor. Comfortable seating. We were seated quickly on arrival. Limited but good selection of vegetarian options. They were ready and willing to customise the nonveg items for us so we got more vegetarian options. The only reason I rated them three for service is the fact that we got the pizza warm at best, not hot. I prefer mine steaming hot. Otherwise all kosher!

Coming from italy, I was not disappointed! From the the generously portioned starters, the delicious pasta - clearlymade with quality ingredients-, the traditionally made pizzas , to the spectacular espesso for concluding. Inside is very nice and spacious and there is also a lovely open area on the backyard. The staff was very friendly and professional and the prices were more than fair for the quality and quantity offered. If you are looking for an authentic Italian bar-restaurant experience, don't look further!

The best pizza in Oxford, hands down! We often order take-away pizza from Halley (now La Smorfia), but we also like to go there at weekends. The pizza is always spot on, full of flavour and the crust is delicious! Napoli is my favourite one, they are really generous on the toppings. Pepperoni Diavoli is also good, if you’re looking for something spicy. After a delicious meal, you can indulge in a great selection of cakes & cookies. The restaurant itself is very nice, there is also a garden on the back. I’m definitely a regular now! :)

Me and my friends used to be regular clients until the lady with short hair on the till started to be rude without a reason. One day i went there to have breakfast around 11:00 and this lady didn’t want to serve us breakfast as they serve it until 11:30 . But i was before that time, but i didn’t have any response for that, she only ignored me . Very dissapointed never going back there .

The cooking and service in this family run cafe are really impressive; a welcome addition to Cowley Rd. Pastas do not "swim" in a pool of sauce. But just enough to wrap around the pasta to give it that excellent subtle taste.The crushed Rosemary Potato is wonderful. Havent yet got a chance to try their pizza and other dishes. Well done !

This is one of the best pizza I ever had! The dough is so good, and the menu is so delicious! The calzone was so testy, definitely the best hospitality in Oxford as well! Recommend 120%!

I found the sandwiches to be delicious and of good quality Italian ingredients, also priced reasonably. However, I was really dissappointed with their pizza. It was really bland and tasteless , which is rather curious as one of the pizzas was a 4 cheese pizza. How can a 4 cheese pizza be bland? I also found the quality-taste -price ratio to be poor. I won't be returning for a meal but I will teturn for their delicious sandwiches

Are you after some authentic Italian food? If so, you can't miss this place. Great service, outstanding food and a fantastic space with a great garden to enjoy yourself whilst eating some pizza, pasta or a very tasty burger. Also great for families! Strongly recommended!!

The food is very good but, the place has disappointed me a lot. On the receipt, you can see how they have applied the service charge on the bill and you can see that it does not say "optional". They gave me the receipt once I paid, so I had no option to see before paying, that they had included a service charge and the person who attended me did not even ask me if I wanted to pay it or not. In my opinion, I think they should give the receipt before paying and thus have the option to see that the service charge is optional or not and choose if I want to pay it or not. I am not complaining about the service charge but, that it is not correctly reflected if it is optional or not. If they don't give me the bill before paying and they don't say that it is optional (as you can see in the photo), how will I know if it is or not?

We adore Halleys for the gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere. Denise is very welcoming and always takes great care of us. I've only had breakfast and lunch there before (always utterly delicious, really recommend the eggs benedict) but the dinner menu is extensive and incredible - you will struggle to choose. A number of us opted for pizza which had a lovely base and toppings, and we shared a platter of street food starters which are mainly different ways of breadcrumbing and frying cheese (yum). The cocktails are fun and we were taken very good care of. Denise's mother also made an outstanding birthday cake on request which was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommended and thank you Halley's for looking after us so well.

Amazing food best takeaway ive had in a long time

Unnecessarily long waiting time for my breakfast to arrive for an almost empty venue. I was then served under cooked eggs, 2 tiny button mushrooms that smelt like they had been stored in bleach and very cheap quality sausage together with cold beans. I would expect much better for the price. However the staff appeared friendly although somewhat overwhelmed with difficulty using the debit card machine. ************************** There's been a huge improvement since my first visit. The food was was hot, no lengthy waiting time and the service was very good. I had the Margherita Pizza with Vegan cheese which was very good although extremely thin it was complete with a deep crust! I had that with a side order of fries. I would have preferred to add my own salt rather than it come already salted. I Ordered a large Latte which came in a very standard size cup for £2.80, however it was an additional 30p for Oat milk and a further 30p for Decaff. Assuming £3.40 is a fair price for a coffee these days, I would have preferred a larger cup. All that said it's another lovely place on the Cowley Road to meet and eat throughout the day and enjoy the lovely rear garden weather permitting. I would definitely recommend!

Our first experience in this fairly new establishment and WOW. From entry to exit the service was amazing. Vegetarian breakfast and Eggs Royale delicious. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Best cafe for gluten free and dairy free in Oxford. The people are fantastic and the food is great value for money.

First time at this cafe, the atmosphere is so inviting, really liked the colour scheme. The Breakfast was absolutely tasty, really enjoyed the food. The service was really good also. The toilets were nice and clean. They even have an outside area with seats. I will definitely visit again.
