Ireesa, Geni and Stelios you have been absolutely magnificent over the years Geoff and I have been coming to the restaurant on a fortnightly basis. Lobster ravioli is divine. Goodbye to you and we’ll think of you in Australia.

We have been here a few years ago and the restaurant was ok. Went on the 4th July 2024 and it was amazing. Got there in time for the early bird menu. Calamari, meatballs, calzone and cheese cake. Fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere made our anniversary special. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit. P.S this is the best Italian restaurant in Rochdale.

Great food but the cleanliness was horrible food on chairs dusty tables stains on walls and more food was nice very nice though.

Warm wine,burnt and tasteless food,table request ignored despite booking over a week in advance. No reaction to complaint about food quality from staff. £75 wasted on sub standard food and WARM wine. Will not be going again.

5 of us had booked the new Gino D'Campo restaurant in Manchester around the back of Deansgate Locks. The day before, they contacted us to say they weren't actually Ginos yet and had a reduced menu, comprising a tin of beans, an artichoke and 2 lemons. Felt like it anyway. So, looking for somewhere closer to home and different to the usual, we chanced upon La Scala. Ooh, not been for years (in fact the last time was during a blizzard in the early 2010s). No idea why we hadn't ventured back but needs must this time. Well, from the entrance we were treated like royalty; very friendly staff and very entertaining. Loads of choice on the menu and full bellies all round. Dessert was nearly passed on, but old greedy guts (me) decided that at least 2 of us would share a cheesecake. In summary, absolutely superb and will now be a destination of choice rather than need.

Just had a sensational take away tonight. Reviews were good, but I’m not sure they do La Scala justice. Quite fantastic, top drawer.

Food was very tasty and fresh. Well price too. We will definitely be visiting the restaurant when lockdown ends.

Had a lovely takeaway from here. The service was very good. The food was still hot when it arrived and was excellent. Would definitely recommend

Visited Bank Holiday Monday friendly safe service and excellent food. Highlights included the tastiest ribs I've had in ages and the cannelloni. Yes we will be back!!

Booked in for a meal here and it did not disappoint. To say how busy it was the food was fantastic. Steak cooked perfect. Staff was fantastic very pleasant. The whole evening was fab and would highly recommend.

First meal out with grandkids since lockdown and it was wonderful. Absolutely delicious food, exceptional service, excellent COVID-19 guidelines in place. It has to be the best restaurant in the area. We were made to feel very welcome, the grandkids first Italian restaurant and they just loved it. We all left full and happy. Fantastic job from all.

Been in lockdown for sometime and was really looking forward to a nice meal and was not disappointed the ribs just fell off the bone, meat was so tender the sauce was delicious had to mop up with garlic bread be rude not to, all staff had masks on tables and seats disinfected when tables changed well spaced out tables, the staff are so nice and friendly, cant be a better restaurant to go to in rochdale going back next week love it that much

Our first night out after lockdown and it was a lovely night.The food was exceptional.Good hygiene system and we felt very safe. Staff are all fantastic you can tell they are smiling from behind their masks.Thank you to you all for a brilliant night.

We are here on Sunday night while visiting friends in Royton. The staff were very friendly and not pushy. The good was beautiful and the two children cleared their plates as well as the grown ups. A very nice experience.Thank you all.

Been on a few occasions, staff always friendly and attentive, will go out of their way to accommodate you, makes you feel welcome and special. Food is superb, fabulous steaks, lovely friendly restaurant,have recommended to friends. Cant wait to visit again.

The restaurant is set out to allow privacy, the staff will do anything they can to accomodate your needs,the food compliments the quality and proffessionalism of the establishment with a touch of Italian class,you can keep your table as long as you need it there's no rush whatsoever,highly recommended.

My wife, Jen, and I have just returned from a car trip through England. At one point we stopped for the evening in Rochdale, intending to get to Liverpool early the next day. We figured we'd find some perfectly fine -- and ordinary -- restaurant for dinner, so we asked the host of our hotel. She had only one recommendation: La Scala. So we made the ten-minute drive to what seemed to be a very business-oriented part of town.The word "ordinary" played no part in our meal that evening. We were waited on by a lovely waiter, Grace, and both our appetizers and main courses were as good as we'd find in any top-rated Italian restaurant in New York City -- at incredibly reasonable prices, I should add.We also had a chance to chat with Mauricio, the manager. Though it was an incredibly busy evening at La Scala, he made sure to take some time and ensure that everything was to our liking. And as a result of our conversation that evening, my wife and I are now planning a trip to Sicily, Mauricio's original home.It was a truly pleasant surprise to find such an elegant and rewarding restaurant experience when we weren't expecting it. La Scala is worth searching out when you're anywhere in the general vicinity of Rochdale.

I've been here three times now and every time the experience has been wonderful. THe food is superb and the service second to none. I've attended as a group for a meal out, as a large party for a staff outing and for a romantic meal for two - each a perfect occasion made more so by the friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommend this place.

I had a few issues with our experience here. Firstly: The waiting times. We spent 3 hours in total here! It felt like we were waiting an eternity to get seated, then for our order to be even taken. Then it was 45 mins for the garlic bread to even come out let alone the main and desert! We had plans for later in the evening as our guests had travelled up to see us but we all ended up going to bed once we got home we had been out so long!Secondly: Poor vegetarian options. On the whole menu there are 4 options from two pages for veggies and they are very unimaginative! There's margarita pizza, "pizza vegetariano" which is just described as a pizza with "seasonal vegetables" not exactly inspiring! Why not make something like mushroom, onion and chilly or even at least describe what is actually on it. The others are "penne vegetariano" again, penne with seasonal vegetables and tomato sauce! It just seems like an afterthought and is very disappointing. I mean, how is that even going to come? It sounds like I'm going to get pasta with carrots and broccoli!! Then there is the spinach and ricotta ravioli, the only real choice given the other options! Thirdly: Portion size. Which brings me to my third disappointment. Portion size! Whilst everyone else seemed to get a good portion those of use who ordered the spinach and ricotta ravioli got a tiny serving and finished way before everyone else... still hungry! It's almost like the only have a small amount of the one decent veggie option and they have to ration it out!However! Once the spinach and ricotta ravioli did come, it was nice and I did wish there was more of it or it at least came with its own serving of garlic bread. Desert menu was a little uninspiring but the creme brulee was nice.

Birthday Meal Friday 27th September Fantastic Atmosphere, Fantastic Food, Fantastic Service. Staff could not do enough. Had Mussels for Starter then Fillet Pavarotti for main. Superb.... Would reccomend to anyone. 5 star in all departments

What can I say, from the moment we arrived they couldn't do enough for us. The Staff were so friendly(and funny). The food was out of this out of this world, absolutely Deeelicious. Lovely family celebration, will definitely be returning.

1st visit, 4 ppl it was hubby 70th my friend told someone who seemed in charge he came to take orders nothing at all ( we wanted nothing) but a happy birthday might have been nice. Food average and expensive, friendly young girl serving wine and nice Greek lad waiting on. Would we visit again, sorry it's a no, to many other places with nicer food and friendly staff !!

My wife and I were looking forward to our first visit to La Scala after hearing good reports from our son. He'd advised us to book to ensure a table, so I did so a week in advance. We arrived at 7.50pm and were promptly shown to a table tucked away in a corner. There was a very lively and loud atmosphere, which was understandable as it was fairly busy - no problem with that. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited some time for a waiter to return and take our order for starters. When they eventually arrived they were a huge disappointment taste-wise. Garlic mushrooms were particularly un-garlicy, spicy meatballs were bland and unseasoned and the garlic tomato bread was, well, tomato bread. A long wait followed until a waitress came to remove our plates and asked us if we'd like a dessert. We informed her we hadn't had our main course yet, but we might as well have another bottle of red while we waited. At 9.35 our main courses still hadn't arrived so we voiced our dissatisfaction at the service and quality of food, paid for what we'd consumed and left - all without an apology or explanation for the delay and no real attempt to calm our annoyance. Needless to say, neither of us will be visiting again. But if you're a fan of basic, overpriced, tasteless fayre set to a cacophonous backdrop - this is the place for you

Booked the table the week before for a Saturday evening arrived 10 minutes before and was shown to table. Ordered a bottle of wine and shortly afterwards we ordered our meals consisting of starters and mains each. It was very busy and lively so far so good. Then we waited and waited and waited. Finally starters arrived by which time we’d finished the bottle of wine and we didn’t guzzle it trust me! The garlic and tomato bread was just tomato bread, garlic mushrooms was just a plate of mushrooms no garlic, tasteless and the spicy meatballs starter were tasteless, no seasoning, very bland to say the least for everything. Plates were taken so we ordered another bottle of wine thinking our main meals would be following soon......we waited and we waited until a waitress came and asked if we wanted dessert!! We said we haven’t had our main meals yet!! No apologies or attention was given to us until at 9.35 YES almost TWO HOURS after we walked in we still hadn’t been served our main meal. The waiter was signalled and we said we will pay for what we have had but we are going. We said what we had had was extremely bland and the service was beyond terrible. No apology was offered in fact the waiter was very argumentative and in no way offered any explanation. I have never in my life had such an extremely bad experience in a restaurant before as this. It was busy yes but we had booked the week before and we were paying customers it’s no excuse. The waiters were paying more attention it seemed to me to the bigger parties. While we were waiting for such a long time the party at the next table left and the staff brought more chairs round that table and without any exaggeration one of the high backed extra chairs was put right against me so I was totally boxed in and couldn’t get out. The guy who eventually sat down in that chair was very apologetic but it wasn’t his fault. It was the worst eating out experience which is very disappointing as we were very much looking forward to it for our first and definitely last visit.

I have had the pleasure to eat here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed, a friendly and somewhat funny service, great food that really is a step above and it is all reasonably priced and always seems busy so is obviously popular. one thing is certain, I will return.

Had a fabulous night. Food was beautiful, staff attentive and the ambiance was relaxed. I had home made cannelloni, excellent! Hubby had Fillet Rossini, his favourite dish, he said it was better than he’s had anywhere. Desserts were indulgent but not over facing. Wine was recommended by the waiter, I told him I liked smooth warning red, he delivered. We will be returning soon.

La Scala lived up to the many positive recommendations we’d heard. Went with three generations of the family and had a wonderful, relaxing time. Great food and wine. Lovely with the young children (took them into the kitchen to make there own desserts). First post on TA but it’s nice when your experience exceeds your expectations. Garlic prawns are mmmnn.

On Sunday we had a family meal . the service was top class the staff very friendly when the food arrived we all said wow to looked amazing, fabulous food had a great time thank your to everyone who made it a great experience

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Visited early evenig and had the Canneloni which was piping hot and very tasty. Not the cheapest but reasonably priced for the quality. Would go again

Just back from dinner at La Scala and just had the loveliest meal. The thing that stood out the most for me however, was the staff and how adorable and attentive they are. Not just with my own kids, my partner and myself but there were two elderly couples on two different table at either side of us and the staff could not do enough to help them and engage with them which was so lovely and heart warming. Service and friendliness of staff is key to a successful restaurant and this establishment clearly goes the extra mile to look after all its customers. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

My wife had chicken in a sauce which was tasteless and I had the worst risotto that I can remember. Overpriced food and mediocre to say the least

This is a really friendly family restaurant. On March 9th they catered for 24 ladies in addition to a full restaurant service. The food was excellent and the service faultless. Everyone made sure we had a great night. Thank you to everyone.

Very disappointed with food out of four mains ordered only one up to standard and that was lasagne which is not difficult to make. Two pasta meals were specifically ordered to include king prawns which would be charged as extra - no problem until arrived with one prawn in one dish and two in the other - also the sauce was very thick. Complaint quietly made which resulted in a deduction in price of the king prawns (which weren't in the dish anyway) so not happy with the whole experience and will not visit or recommend this place - much better choices in our area.

A meal with wife and daughter - three superb starters and a very good main course. Good friendly service with some lovely wine

The lamb shank was delicious and the gravey mouth watering. The Mrs had the salmon and says it was cooked perfectly. Service was spot on and will return very soon. Lovely place.

Booked a meal for me and my partner. Lovely friendly welcome, it was a Saturday night so busy but we didnt have to wait too long to have our orders taken. Food was excellent and we will definitely be back again.

Had a meal with a group of friends, handy rear parking and nice friendly welcome. Great atmosphere which may be a little loud for an intimate dinner for two. Not sure if it's usually noisy but we enjoyed the experience. Very good service, however the food was just ok. Everything seemed slightly bland, under seasoned and slightly over cooked (including pasta dishes), It's one of the few occasions in a restaurant where I've had to add salt and pepper. When we dine in a group we do tend to share so I tried a variety of dishes including Pizza which unfortunately was slightly soggy. We were in a largish group and the restaurant was full so maybe that accounts for the average food. Will give it a try as a couple.

Wow what a fantastic place atmosphere was great staff were on point and the food was amazing I can't even stress how good that meal was... They even sang happy birthday to me very nice touch love it would definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning

We have visited the restaurant on 4 occasions now and every time has been fantastic. The food is amazing especially the ribs, only problem is they are so good I won't try another starter! The service is exceptional,the staff are so friendly. Finally tried their cheesecake which had been recommended and it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to come back!

Food good and service OK. But incredibly noisy, and so cramped it was impossible to get away from the table. This at 8.00 pm on a Saturday in January. Parking very limited, so park on the main road. Overall not a great experience.

Been on many occasions since my daughter's birthday. On every visit the food has been excellent and the staff all make you feel like one of the family. Slightly more expensive than similar places but will pay it for the food quality and starts friendliness. Well done last scala.

If an Italian restaurant can't get a chicken ala creme and a pizza right there is something wrong but don't complain they look at you as if to say what do you know we'll boiled chicken in split cream is not chicken ala creme

Food is always amazing, the staff always make you feel so welcome and the atmosphere is like it should be in a busy Mediterranean restaurant!

We went here with some friends, who rave about it so we were expecting a really great meal and evening. The place was so noisy you couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to you! The menu was lacking and the food was ok. The portions were quite large but my start of calamari frite was overlooked and rubbery. On the main course the waiter frowned when I asked for another spoon of veg when he was serving it. Overall ok but don't think we'll visit again.

You will not be disappointed, from the moment you walk in you feel like you are the only customer, albeit it was a little quiet. The food choice and quality was very good and as i normally rate a restaurant by their Creme Brulee this is top class.

Visited here a week ago, ordered garlic mushrooms as a starter, they had an unpleasant sour taste. For main course I had pasta with broccoli and chicken, this was terrible, the sauce was a floury bechamel with no flavour, worst pasta sauce I have ever eaten, I had to use copious amounts of black pepper and Parmesan to try to add a little flavour but it did nothing to improve the flavour. Chicken was hard and was not cooked with the pasta sauce. My sons carbonara was cold and my husbands pizza wasn’t great. Thankfully we had our own birthday cake to eat for dessert. Needless to say we will not be visiting again!

Well I was here 2 years ago to celebrate my 60th bithday it was a surprise that night we came back tonight for my 62 and wasn't disappointed Ten out of ten all the way so glad I choose this place again the service was excellent food to die for I had a steak which was out of this world think I'm going to be a regular here it is so welcoming and they are lovely with children took my granddaughter they was so good with her we will be back

Tonight 17/8/18 a group of 4 couples met to celebrate a birthday & 50th Wedding Anniversary. We could not have had more wonderful service, attention & more importantly fabulous food. The staff & service were attentive but not pushy, food excellent and atmosphere relaxing. Would recommend. Thank you for a memorable evening.

The restaurant is outstanding, the staff are very friendly and very helpful. The food is just wonderful. I am a chef myself and always think when I eat, can I cook better than here.. well, my answer is simple.. no, the food is outstanding and seasoned perfectly. An absolute gem of a restaurant.

We have used La Scala for a pre Theatre meal on the way to Shaw or Oldham for some time now.

Absolutely great, as good as you'll get anywhere. Staff are on the ball, friendly while remaining courteous. Food is really good and if you just want some simple (authentic) Italian food you only have to ask. Cant fault it

Went here with family and it was very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful in allocating a table which had space at the side for a pram. Our waiter was very friendly and the food was spot on.

Had an early tea here with our two young grandsons. Food was excellent and staff were lovely with the kids. Great menu and range of drinks. This was early but suspect the place gets busy busy later. Would like to try it later with adults.

Myself and a friend decided to go here for a last minute meal on a Friday night as we both love Italian. We hadn’t booked a table but as we walked in the staff was friendly and wasn’t bothered by the no booking and accommodated us brilliantly. I can not fault the service. The food was brilliant as always when I have previously visited this place. They was very accommodating to my friends meal who ordered a pasta dish and asked if she could change the meat in it to chicken the waiter said that was no problem at all. Overall a great atmosphere, great service and great food. Never fails to disappoint. I would highly recommend here.

Was recommended by the B&B; we were staying at locally, the restaurant was quite busy (that’s usually a good sign) but that didn’t cause a problem as the service was quick and very staff very friendly. Food was fresh and tasty with meatballs starter very nice and the calzone excellent. Probably won’t be back as don’t live in the area but definitely recommend if passing by or live in the area.

We had a lovely meal from start to finish,great service fantastic food. I had a chocolate cake for dessert is was big enough for two. We will be going back again might even take the family.

A few days ago I took a dozen friends here for a festive meal. I have been here many times before but not as host to a "party". It was an excellent evening all round. All my guests commented on how good the food was. My own garlic mushroom starter and steak main course were top notch. The staff are always pleasant and enthusiastic.

Last minute decision to go out. 1st time here. Reviews seemed good, so decided to give it a try.

Great staff, great food. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate at 7 on a busy Saturday evening celebrating Grandma’s 83rd birthday. Service was very efficient and staff friendly and helpful despite being very busy. Plenty of staff were on so this certainly added to the efficiency.

This was our 1st visit. Some of our party had been many times. The staff are very friendly. The service was great and the food was excellent. Plenty of choice and the presentation was lovely

Have visited several times, sometimes as a couple, other times as part of a family group. We have never been disappointed. Menu choice is varied and includes some Greek dishes..lovely!!. Staff are warm, friendly and work hard to accommodate customer needs. Nothing is too much trouble. Tables are well arranged and nicely furnished. Food always arrives piping hot, nicely presented and well cooked. Relaxed atmosphere, well managed and nicely organised restaurant.Parking to the rear is good although a little limited but parking is also available close by on the main road. Great for couples, families and large or small groups... a really great place.

The first time We've been there and it wont be the last.The meal was first rate.There were two children under 6 yrs and the staff couldn't do enough.

Have visited twice as a group of 4 on both occasions the waiter was friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and tasty and we all enjoyed our meals, really nice little restaurant, modern decor and welcoming environment. Will definitely visit again.

It was a special occasion, we sat, I asked if they had Peroni, lass stated bottle or draught I asked which is cheaper, lass stated there is no difference, I wanted to know what was the difference so service started badly. I ordered the calamari as a starter, waited nearly 40 minutes and it looked under cooked, again not impressed. The main was the carbonara which seem to me as a starter small portion. So from this the motto of the story is don't have the calamari and don't have the carbonara, go for the pork pate and their pizzas if you want to leave full and happy. Would I go there again, probably yes to try something else and hopefully served better by someone else. but it would not as my first option. Also La Scala needs a website not a Facebook page.

Having reviewed this restaurant previously we have visited again and yes the same high standards apply.We always enjoy being here because the food is great, staff always pleasant and welcoming and a good atmosphere....you can hold a conversation (background music not to loud !!!).Keep up the high standards Mario and Tony (owner and chef) !!!!

We've been to the la scala restaurant in Rochdale about 8 times since it opened and it is superb, great food, never had bad meal yet, the staff are very very friendly, always remember after us from the very first time we ate there, great atmosphere, not a bad thing to say about them, just keep up the good work 100% satisfaction

Just come back from la scala on a very rare evening off with my wife .This was our first and last visit .We opted for the 2 course menu at a cost of £11.90 I had calamari to start, I got about 8 pieces I left 4 as it was very rubbery. My wife's had bruchetta this was just ok ,we also ordered a garlic bread to share- burnt on bottom so not eating! On to main course I had the chicken with mushrooms and cream this was horrible I could not eat it , this is one of my favourite dishes but definitely not here . My wife had pizza margarita very soggy and tasteless again not eating that either .My wife didn't want to make a fuss but why pay for inadeqate food when its money hard earned - I did complain to the manager- it was the worst chicken i've ever had and he just said I will take it of the bill ..... fine but he only then charged me £7.90 for the calamari which was part of the 2 course deal .... RIP OFF , not wanting to make a fuss i paid it to escape this place ! Service wasn't much better they show you to a table and leave you there there was 3 other tables in the place so not even busy I paid the bill and left i will never return to la scala , the food is absolutely dreadful the waiting on staff miserable and they are very unprofessional.

My friend and I visited this restaurant on spec and found it absolutely lovely. The staff are really good and friendly. Service was good. The restaurant is lovely and the food was good and not overpriced. I will definitely go back again and take other friends .

Went here for my sons 12th birthday and had a superb meal. My son had ribs then pizza then a complimentary birthday ice cream with the waiters singing Happy Birthday to him.My husband and I had a huge starter of Italian meats, cheeses, bread and salad followed by wild mushroom risotto for me and pasta for him. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect. I always enjoy eating here and would definitely recommend it to people looking for an authentic high quality Italian meal.

Five dined here last Saturday night, it was my mother in law's birthday, great atmosphere, lots of lovely smells, excellent service, great food & wine, we all had different meals & all very nice, starters, mains & desserts Staff were very welcoming, nothing too much trouble, we hadn't been for a while, really don't know why, we had a great evening!

Pleasant decor and lots of space between the tables. Starters of Black Pudding/Chorizo and Pate were fine. Main courses of sirloin in dolcelatte (very average but reasonably priced) and seafood pasta (reasonably priced but really bland). Always smile when you are asked if you liked a dish and when you say 'no it was bland' the waiter replies 'oh, I'll tell the Chef'.

Excellent food and service Highly recommended We had starters of pate and ribs which were delicious and then seafood risotto and a special of scallop tagliatelle Everything was superb we loved IT

Been here several times over the last couple of years. The food has always been first class. What makes it great is the staff. Always really friendly & remember us every time. The personal touch really makes it a fantastic place to eat. Well priced. It keeps us coming back again & again.

Meget elegant restaurant med ypperlig mat og godt vinutvalg. Vi spiste krydrete kjøttboller til forrett og Kalv og biff med pepperkorn til hovedrett. Alt smakte meget godt. Høflig, påpasselig god service. Avsluttet med god grappa og kaffe. Kan virkelig anbefales!

Me and my family of four visited early evening (6:00pm on Weds) in April. We didn't pre book and we didn't have to wait for a table, however, I would recommend booking if you are a larger party or if you are visiting later in the evening as it was quite busy by the time we had finished.We all had different starters, main courses & desserts and we all thoroughly enjoyed each course.The menu is excellent with enough choice for everyone and the food is reasonably priced and the service was excellent by all staff.This was the first time we had visited this restaurant and it definitely won't be the last.
