La Salute in West Lothian

The food is severely overpriced for what it is. Waited 2 hours for your food to come out, very disappointed. Apparently the chef didn’t turn up…

I've had good meals here before. Staff are friendly. Ordered beef stroganoff which should be thinly sliced good quality beef in a tasty creamy sauce. Unfortunately it's braised beef in a gravy with not much taste. Also the spaghetti Bolognese had very little mince and didn't taste particularly good. I advised the staff that I didn't enjoy the stroganoff which is why I left most of it and they informed the kitchen. On receiving the bill I was expecting some sort of discount on the food or maybe a complimentary drink but didn't get either. It's such a shame as everyone is so nice. I wish I'd ordered the pizza

Great food. Great service. Second time we have been and we will be back soon. Owner is a great character. Not the fastest service, but it was rammed.

Restaurant was empty so nice & quiet. Service was good especially as we were the only ones there. Food was pretty average if I’m being 100% honest. Lasagne was dry pasta sheets, not a lot of meat sauce & a big slab of cheese, most of it got left. Focaccia wasn’t actually focaccia either, just a dry pizza bread. The biggest surprise was the pricing - I live in Glasgow & was baffled to see that they’re even expensive even compared to city pricings.

Great food, great value and very friendly service, especially from the owner (I guess) who is a charming character. However, as stated below, don't expect a quick in an out. Arrived 7.30pm. Starter 7.50pm. Main course 9.10pm. They did apologise profusely and offered us a drink on the house, which was nice, but it was rather a long wait between courses.

First of all the food was delicious. However! We got there for 7pm, had our started at 7.30 then it was 8.50 before our mains arrived then nobody bothered to offer us a dessert menu and we sat there for another while before someone brought the bill. Again we waited for a while before I ended up just going to the bar to pay the bill. Overall it took 3 hours to get a starter and main which was very disappointing given the cost of the meal. We had to ask twice about when our mains would arrive, and the first woman said she would check then vanished. Overall not a great experience and not sure if the food was good enough overall to counteract the slow and lacklustre service. Which is a shame as it was recommended by friends who go often.

Amazing friendly service and food. Lobster ravioli might be the best thing I've ever eaten. For a Saturday night I never felt rushed. Fully positive night out, will definitely be returning ASAP.

We were looking forward to trying out this resturant but as soon as we walked in the noise was so loud we could not even hear our waitress who proceeded to seat us next to the wall and close to various parties that were going on so we had no other choice after hoping for a lovely dinner but to leave but we will return but hopefully on a quieter night

Tried this as looking for an alternative to our regular Italian ( Broxburn). Overall very good, friendly service, little patchy at times. We waited ages for our mains, starters were instant, so felt like a very long gap. Mixed bruschetta was lovely. Broxburn probably still has the edge for us, only just

We had a lovely family meal last night and would definitely recommend. The spaghetti carbonara was probably the best I’ve had and I love that they do a half portion as a starter. Between us all we had fillet steak (which was beautiful,cooked to perfection) spaghetti bolognaise and pizza and we all thoroughly enjoyed them all. Lovely local restaurant with very big portions

On a Wednesday night this was surprisingly busy. Both the waitress and the owner (?) were wonderful, we like it when it feels like a locally owned/family business - and this did - both were so friendly. Food - we both had pizza (nduja) / calzone (traditional) - my husband can be critical of pizzas but there was nothing but praise at this place. We will be back to try their extensive menu;

I have yet to dine in but I regularly order a take away. My favourite is mussels in tomato as a starter and sea food pizza as a main. I have travelled Italy on 2 ocassions but have never enjoyed food as much as this....

What a find- this restaurant was superb and the food was so tasty! Smoked salmon and prawns were fabulous! The mozzarella and meats with Focaccia was to die for! The fish cooked to perfection, huge portions though. The Italian wines were an absolute dream!

I've been a few times in La Salute,while being a little be bored of the same food all around a West Lothian restaurants,owners are really professional and very friendly people never left this place hungry,absolutely diffrent dishes,great italian food but not only,would highly recommend!

Went for lunch choose the mixed seafood starter. What can I say... Fabulous. Fresh fish, cooked starters excellent. Without a doubt you could not get any better seafood elsewhere.

Visited for a booked celebration over 16 people .Staff were very happy to greet and serveStaff had placed balloons and wall banners in Place on our behalf ( dropped off earlier in day ) all drinks menus taken , followed by starters ..... asked about gluten free , manager / owner was amazing and happy to list all foods available.Main meals order taken , repeat of the gluten free service Meals came .... all were hot ( a must for me I hate Luke warm , cold food ) Wow the portion sizes ! You will not go hungry here ! Main arrived again , served hot and ample in portion ! Everyone was very happy with their choices and what was served.We had a celebration cake which we had bought ourselves , the staff players celebration music and brought it out then were happy to cut and serve. They also gave a bottle of fizz to the ones celebrating within our party.I have no negative things to say This restaurant is run by owners and staff with cheery dispositions , great food and a great atmosphere Well done them

Finalmente abbiamo trovato il posto che non ci ha fatto rimpiangere il meglio di quanto si trova in Italia. Dopo numerose delusioni e vari mal di stomaco dovute a cibo condito in un modo al quale non siamo abituati, finalmente il pesce buono, cotto molto bene e l’olio VERO italiano.Da non sottovalutare il cortesissimo gestore del locale che ci ha allietato la cena con la sua non invadente, ma efficace compagnia.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal of mussels followed by pork in red wine and sage sauce. This was off the early evening set menu , a bargain at £12.95 for 2 courses. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you like fresh fish and seafood this is the place to come. Antonio and the team are great. You will be looked after very well. We had booked and glad we did as very busy indeed. Make sure you're hungry as portions are large. Great fun, great night.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. The food was nice but it was overpriced. The service was extremely slow - we had dirty plates sitting in front of us for about half an hour. The surroundings and décor were pleasant and the restaurant was bigger than I imagined it would be. It was surprisingly busy for a Sunday evening indicating it was a popular place to go. The unacceptable slow service means I will not return for a second visit.

Went for the first time with the wife tonight. The food is excellent in here! Worth the money too! Will be back!

Just returned home after a first wedding anaversary dinner at this fabulous restaurant. The food the staff the quality and value for money are hard to beat. This is our go to place if we want a gurenteed quality meal without having to travel too far from home. If you have never been you should give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

We recently dined here in a company of ten to celebrate our hosts' 40th Wedding Anniversary.

What a fantastic restaurant , went there for my husbands birthday with my son and his fiancée the food was delicious and plentiful, the staff were all lovely and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Off their own back they bought out a mint cheesecake with candles lovely gesture and to top it off the owner give us all some homemade limoncello liqueur delicious!! We will be back

Stopped here for dinner with my son tonight after shopping at Livingston. I was expecting something really spectacular when in fact what I got was an over cooked chicken kiev with soggy breadcrumb coating. At over £15 for this main course I feel that it was vastly over priced especially since it came with what tasted like oven chips. Wouldn’t dine here again.

Lovely food all cooked fresh so you may have a wait it's all worth waiting for as it's good food .

We visited La Salute on Mother's Day and were not disappointed. This was our first visit here and the food was lovely and fresh and delicious. The staff were really nice and friendly and despite the restaurant being busy it was such a nice relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed the music too. Will definitely be back.

We can not recommend this restaurant enough! The food is always so fresh and delicious. We always have an amazing meal regardless if we are a table of 10 or a table of 2. Tony and his team are brilliant. We are always welcomed with a friendly greeting and taken care of throughout. Thanks to the team for such great service and food. It truly is a gem of a place.

I have visited La Salute with four friends on 01/03/2019. To my surprise had the most amazing meal I had in ages. I would recommend this place to a any fish seafood lover with confidence. The owner and the staff are professional and welcoming too.

Visited for dinner on Frid 23rd with wife and 4 friends. Had reserved a table for 7pm - just as well as restaurant was packed. We were warmly welcomed and seated immediately.

We recently moved to the adea and thought we'd try the Italian out. We were not disappointed. Beautiful food, wine and great service. We will definitely return. The brushetta miste and piccante was lovely and my fiance loved the foccatia and ravioli.

I had 3 different bruschetta and the lobster off the specials menu and my girlfriend had a pizza. The whole meal was very reasonably priced and the portion sizes were pretty big. From the moment we entered La Salute we were made to feel very at home by the staff who were incredibly chirpy and approachable. The pizza was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of topping, my girlfriend had asked for garlic mushrooms instead of plain on top and they were more than happy to oblige and my lobster was exquisite. All in all when we are next in the Edinburgh area we will be straight here, had an awesome time.

Best restaurant in West Lothian. Can't recommend the place enough, the food is always fresh and up to high standards. I will be spending every big family occasion here. Thank you!!!

Went for the second time this week, first evening the didn't have the pasta dish I had been looking forward to so they prepared me a salmon and cream sauce dish - delicious! went again with friends and did get the lobster pasta dish and it did not disappoint, could eat here every day if I could get away with it......grazie mille

Excellent food, very accomodating, lovely staff and surroundings. Cater to all different tastes. There were 18 of us and everything run smoothly no complaints.

My son and I went for supper, late evening with live music playing by Twilite and it was a wonderful evening. Great food, big portions for the price and the manager is caring and considerate to make sure everyone is having a good time. Wait staff are attentive and time between courses is . Had a great meal and service everytime I have attended.

If you 'd asked me a week ago I would've recommended this restaurant as I've been before and it's been great. However, last night it was overcrowded and noisy. We stood at the doorway for about five minutes before they could find a table to stick us in (I had booked) Then they put us right beside the 'band' the noise was horrendous especially the saxophone. I couldn't hear my friends talk who were seated opposite me and I had to point at the menu to select a meal as the waitress beside me couldn't hear me. Halfway through the meal the waitress tried to move us to a table ten feet away but it was pointless as the night was already ruined. My partner had been telling his friend about this restaurant who was visiting from another country and we thought we were treating her; needless to say I was mortified. Food was mediocre at best. Extremely unhappy experience.

I went there with my husband’s dad, his fiancé and his friends, ten of us. We had such a great night! The owner of the restaurant chose the starter for all of us, which is mixed seafood. When it was served, I was totally shocked! So so so many plates, mussels, clams, sardines, prawn and calamari salad, fried calamari, scallops, calamari with tomato sauce, fish cakes and homemade bread with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and cheese and etc. The seafood is just phenomenal!! Then I had a whole lobster, which is absolutely amazing!!! I don’t even need dip. It is already so start it self. My one is called Canadian lobster and my father-in-law had a Scottish one. They are all amazing. The owner of the restaurant is such a nice and friendly guy. He even shared a bottle of Italian red wine with me, which is cold and sparkling, very unusual but good. After that , I can believe I had three more cheese cakes. All good. At the end, they played the birthday song and served a big cake. A very good night. Great food and company. I’ll definitely go back and it is worth the long journey heading there.

Over the past year my wife and I have been going to this, our local Italian, on a regular basis over the past year or more. We used to do Pizza Hut, but the quality of their pizzas is consistently of a high level, especially the hot, hot one.

Food exceptional. Service exceptional. Ambience exceptional. Delicious food, attentive staff, superb chef, friendly, family atmosphere. Enough said. Great choice Margaret

We just had an amazing good dinner. I've been to Italy many times, the food is just as good as in Italy! Very friendly family runned restaurant. Food is really a 10/10!!!! Very friendly and flexible as well. And then for a very affordable price! 100 procent recommendation!!

Five of us decided to go here after our normal venue happened to be fully booked. This restaurant is a bit deceiving from the outside but once in it seemed very spacious, neat, tidy and well organised. The staff were very friendly and wasted no time in seeing to our every need. The food was great and plenty of it,we could only manage two courses each, the calamari was to die for. All very reasonably priced. Take note that parking at the rear is limited and you may have to park on the main road.

This is a great place for a relaxing meal food lovely great choice of food and drinks great for celebrating that special occasion x

"A breath of fresh air" This is one of the most honest Italian restaurants I have been in. The food is fantastic especially the seafood. We visit at least once a month.

Seafood is so fresh. Try the misto de mere starter. Cold and hot seafood...so good. Lots of specials on offer plus normal menu. But no matter what all great.

Visited on Sunday 29th April with my friends, absolutely amazing staff so accommodating and friendly, such a great service, food was so fantastic and so delicious and had gluten free options which I was happy about, lovely menu with a lot of variety. My friends and me had a brilliant time, will definitely visit again with my family.

My wife and I visited La Salute recently for a meal when neither of us could be bothered cooking and we were not disappointed.

Visited without a reservation and managed to get a table for an hour and 10 minutes which was sufficient for us for as we only had a main meal and drink .. service food helpful friendly staff atmosphere made all of it a Fantastic Dining Experience for us we will definitely be back and highly recommend

We had our Christmas dinner here and could not fault it. The food was excellent and the service was superb. The menu had a good selection and was competitively priced at £48. Steaks were cooked to perfection , starters were really tasty and the beef on the bone with pasta was thoroughly enjoyable. We haven’t eaten here before but this will be our new go to restaurant.

Fantastic little place that was recommended to us by friends for an early supper before visiting the Christmas lights at The Five Sisters Zoo. We had travelled from near Peebles and we weren't disappointed. Superb choice of food on the menu , HUGE portions and very tolerant of toddler exploring the dining room.They provided 2 mini high chairs without fuss and the kids meals were perfect!! Fast service and lovely hot,tasty food . Private parking at the rear which was ideal. Friendly welcome and service was impeccable. We will return!!
