La Rocca in Wellingborough

Excellent and quality food but in my opinion they would benefit from having a member of staff who's main job was serve drinks

Well what a shame… after reading great things on Facebook, we booked a large table for a birthday meal. After being assured the restaurant catered for celiac and that they ‘made their own pasta’ on site I was really looking forward to eating here We sat at the table for 15 minutes and had to prompt the waiter that we were thirsty, then had to wait 25 minutes for the round of drinks to be served Then again we had to prompt to order food which took another age to come out The food itself wasn’t great and some of the group were left still waiting for their meal while others had finished and unfortunately I have been gluttoned and smothered in a rash… safe to say we won’t be revisiting

Came here for a works evening night out....now Muratis and not la Rocca Firstly, the actual food was lovely and cooked well but….. Everything else not a great experience, no bread or water for the table. (We asked for water but it never materialised), the main drink order came out wrong, the waiter looked so miserable and barely spoke, nobody checked we were ok, no desserts menu offered. We were the only table being used in the whole building so no excuse for the slow and poor service. Won’t bother returning

So someone can update this holiday on google. Or we need to came and to kiss the door?

The young man who served us was pleasant but utterly cluless about being a waiter. We ordered and food arrived and Parmesan was offered and spilled on table and my phone with no apology. The music was excruciatingly loud and when I asked if it could be turned down a little it was turned off completely. We finished our meal with no further contact to see if all was well, no cleared plates. No offer of deserts or coffee so was so fed up with waiting around in empty restaurant paid the bill and left. I know staff have to learn but this poor chap had not had any training whatsoever. Full marks to chef meal was hot and very tasty, although maybe some complimentary bread would have been nice touch, at £50 for drinks and just a main course. David Wallace

This was our first time back since La Rocca changed to ‘Murati’s’. A lovely clean and fresh decor. Good solid tables and very comfortable chairs. Staff were welcoming and attentive and orders were taken after given time to browse a mouth watering menu. I had the most delicious tempura cauliflower with aioli followed by pan fried Salmon. Hubby had crostini and a pizza. Commenting one of the best authentic pizzas he has eaten. All arrived hot and with perfect timing between courses. We were too full for desert but were very impressed at the choices on the next table. Murati’s have a very pleasant courtyard eating area out the front of the restaurant. Hopefully the summer will improve so this delightful area can be used too. We will definitely be returning very soon.

We first visited when it first changed hands from the previous owners. We had to order from the main menu as there was no lunch menu. We were told that a lunch menu was being put together. We returned several weeks later. The inside has been tastefully updated. Our waiter brought over the menu, no lunch menu was in place. The waiter spoke little English, which in itself is not a problem, but he couldn’t understand several of our questions. He was nice enough but did not interact at all with us and I needed to call him over on a couple of occasions. We ordered two Carbonara’s and another pasta dish. I was disappointed that the Carbonara contained cream so it tasted too rich for us. As there was no lunch menu, it was an expensive lunch as we were paying evening prices. When it came to pay there seemed to initially be an issue and I was asked to put my card in again. I mentioned to the waiter that the card reader was showing that I may be paying for this again. The waiter told me it had not gone through. We then had to do this for a third time. After this I decided to check my bank and saw that the amount was pending 3 times. I told the waiter and showed him. He then had to give me the difference in cash as he didn’t know how to return it on my card. He also gave me £2 less, which I had to tell him about. We have been frequenting La Rocco for many, many years. Unfortunately, we will no longer be lunching there.

This restaurant has changed hands and I’ve been twice. Firstly with a friend. Secondly for a family birthday for 9 of us. The service was impeccable. They accommodated food allergens, and everyone’s meal was delicious. They have a new Italian chef, who is amazing. So nice to have somewhere to go that isn’t a chain restaurant. 10/10! Well done.

Was keen to try the 'new' La Rocca opened under new management recently. Nice to be able to sit outside for drinks which we did before the others arrived. We were a party of 12 and it was a special birthday for one of the group so expectations were high. Pleased to say it didn't disappoint on any level. Ernest looked after us so well, any requests we had before were met with a smile and can do attitude (i.e decorations) The service was polite, and efficient. All 12 orders arrived together and piping hot, between us we ordered pizzas, pasta, risotto, sides, meat and fish dishes and it was all absolutely delicious and decent sized portions. Clean plates all round at the end. Candy floss cocktail is also one to try! Thanks to everyone at La Rocca we will be back.

The restaurant is in a pleasant town centre location and has recently had new furniture throughout. This is a family owned restaurant and the service was exceptional. A good selection of dishes including pasta and pizza at reasonable prices. We are from out of town but this would certainly be on our ‘return to’ list if we lived closer by.

Whilst the service was good, the food was awful. I had spaghetti gamberetti which was dry, unseasoned, no garlic at all. Very surprising as we were hoping for good food. An absolute rip off for the prices for dry spaghetti. No olive oil or balsamic vinegar served with bread. I wonder if the owners have ever been to Italy or tasted hood Italian food. Awful, would never return as it’s completely overpriced for dreadful food.

Had a really nice meal with the wife, starter of antipasti to share, very ample portion. Both had the Steak Rossini which I’ve not seen on a menu for years. Steak was good quality and tasty, served with salad and roast potatoes, well done guys, bill was reasonably priced.

Saturday lunch time family birthday meal. Well run friendly family restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere with knowledgable staff, who were professional, attentive not over bearing. The food was well presented, very tasty and good sized portions, very well priced. An overall excellent experience.

had our works Christmas meal out on a Friday evening 18 of us, divided on two tables our table had 4 disappointed starters out 8, then came the main meals i couldn't even eat mine, others meals cold after a few mouthfuls and left the rest two others full of grease and they couldn't eat the whole dinner wouldn't go again other restaurants in Wellingborough too try instead

Visiting Wellingborough for the first time and stumbled across this fantastic Italian restaurant. We had delicious fresh bread with oil and balsamic brought to our table. Followed by Spaghetti Bolognaise and Spaghetti Carbonara with cheesy garlic bread. The food was delicious and hot. Such a lovely atmosphere and decorated beautifully for Christmas. All the staff were lovely and attentive. I wish I lived closer so we could eat here again.

Attended La Rocca Saturday. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Meals were fabulous. Staff didn’t come to the table and ask ‘ is your meal ok for you ?’ or something similar whilst trying to enjoy your meal. Had a great experience and a fabulous meal. Will be returning to La Rocca.

We were a group of 14 friends, meeting in Wellingborough for a wedding party the next day and La Rocca was everything we'd hoped it would be. My original booking was for 6 but that kept growing as more wanted to join us for an...

Pasta was tasty but slightly overcooked, which was a shame. It may be better next time. However, overall the lunchtime menu is good value for money. You don't have to wait too long for your food, which is served by friendly staff. I would recommend but will try another dish next time.

Our first visit to La Rocca on a rare and much appreciated night off from parenthood.Despite having lived in the area for many years, how have we never been to this absolute gem? From the warm and friendly welcome on arrival to the genuine and attentive service given by all staff throughout the meal absolutely made our evening complete. The food was absolutely wonderful. To start fresh bread, olive oil & balsamic vinegar followed by the mussels in tomato & chilli sauce and the mushrooms with mozzarella & tomato sauce were delightful.So full of flavour. Whilst we're we're spoilt fir choice with so many tempting main courses that will now be explored on future occasions we both could not resist the benchmark dish of Spaghetti Bolognese and we were not disappointed A generous serving bursting with flavour which we accompanied with a fresh mixed salad and buttery garlic bread. No italian meal would be complete without a tempting dessert so we opted for milk chocolate profiteroles and of course the homemade tiramusu which had sadly for me been extremely popular so I substituted for a delicious lemon tart, thinking the tiramusu would need to be sampled on a future occasion. I was delighted when one of the wonderful team mentioned they had a serving in reserve and treated me to an additional serving of the best tiramusu I have ever tasted ! Thank-you. We enjoyed a lovely pinot grigio rose with our meal and finished with a rhubarb & ginger g&t and a fabulous expresso martini to round off the best meal in very long time only to be further treated to a delicious limoncello on the house. Thank-you to all the team at La Rocca for a lovely evening. Just took my parents here for dinner for the first time and we now have a new favourite restaurant! I could not fault it one bit. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend to everyone 😁

The service was excellent the food came out super quick like in 5 minutes quick and cooked to perfection the food was out of this world and music and atmosphere was calm and relaxing and romantic i loved the experience if you love Italian food this place is a must visit you wont regret it (Blue)

Dropped in on a Thursday night I had the Spaghetti Bolagnase and Mum had Penne Carbonara both were very good. Then a desert which was a tiramisu and a choc peanut stack, again very good and beautifully presented. Total for 2 people with mains desert...

Exceptional place very good food and outstanding service

This place i a hidden gem. We had a family meal there on Saturday for my daughters 16th birthday. The staff in there are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. And the food, well I'm lost for words. Everyone enjoyed the 3 courses. I have lived in wellingborough all my life and have never been there before. I will be going back. Five stars is too low in my opinion.

My family and I visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening for a family birthday. There wasn't really a greeting just the words 'table for three'. My dad explained that we actually had a booking for five. We found the menu to be very limited...

Highly recommend only issue I have the steak was a bit on the small side for £23 especially when it only came with some potatoes and a bit of salad I had to order vegetable separate (sides)

The staff were so lovely and the food so delicious that the our experience cushioned the deep disappointment at the England loss. Congratulations to Italy who were the better team.

I went hear for my 40th birthday with family and friends. Food is very nice and tgey make you feel welcome.

We've been here twice, once for an anniversary celebration dinner, and second on Christmas Eve with my parents and step-son. The menu is simply just too difficult to choose from, I could visit this restaurant every day for 2 weeks and still not know what...

We visited as a large party, having pre-ordered. We waited around 30 minutes for our starters, which wasn't particularly a problem. Starters cleared, they began to bring out our main courses. They forgot one, so our friend was left waiting while everyone else tucked in....

First time here and not sure why I havent visited before. The lunch deal is very good value for money and the food is very tasty. Really enjoyed the pasta dish and I will certainly return again soon.

The food here is to die for. ...you will not be disappointed. An exceptional menu with a matching wine list. Whether it's a dinner for two or a group booking the service is second to none. But beware. ...you'll want to keep going back.

I have been going to this restaurant for years for family events or date nights, it's not particularly cheap but definitely doesn't break the bank either. The families that run it are very lovely and welcoming and always make a point to recognise returning customers. And finally, the food is AMAZING - I come back to the Carbonara everytime because it was just so amazing. The tortellini portion size is not amazing, but isn't that always the case with tortellini in restaurants? Anyway, probably the best restaurant I have found in Wellingborough, and with it being right in town it is a prime location just hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the centre.

I have lived in wellingborough all my life but (sadly) only just visited for my mother in laws birthday meal. We booked a table for 12 people and prebooked our food prior to the visit. The locaction of La Rocca is perfect, hidden away from the busyness of town, but its central in wellingborough, I personally ordered a starter and a main, the starter was the fried mozzarella in Neapolitan sauce (cant remember the actual name!) and it was perfect! not greasy and stodgy, but fresh and full of flavour. For my main i have the chicken risotto, in a tomato, chilli and cheese sauce with a dash of cream, and oh my word! easily the best risotto i have ever eaten, i even attempted to recreate it the next day from home (was no where near as good) the portions are perfect, i left feeling full and not sick. A few members from the party opted for dessert also, which has great reviews all round. The service was also perfect, the food came out quickly, at the same time, and we were asked multiple times through out the evening if we would like drinks. A member of our party had hurt her back that evening and the staff even went out of their way to help comfort her and check she was okay. Keep doing what you are doing La Rocca, best restaurant in wellingborough without question. Cant wait to return.

Beautiful, fresh cuisine and a wonderful birthday meal for a good friend. However, my experience would have been improved if we had been offered drinks soon after arriving, rather than having to request them. Also, when our pasta arrived, we expected that parmesan and fresh black pepper would be offered - again - the former had to be requested. Accustomed to the restaurant asking if our meal is to satisfaction, and if we need anything else, I was again surprised when this did not happen. I was also rather disappointed that - as I was limping due to a severe ankle injury - and having arrived alone - that assistance was not offered. However, as I mentioned earlier, the cuisine there is amazing - easily the best in Italian fare that I have tasted in this country. With a few small service tweaks, it would be close to perfect!

I don't know who is writing the rest of the reviews but this is the worst "Italian" I have ever had. The fish starter was mostly batter, the main filet steak was not a filet by any stretch of the imagination and the sauce was mushroom and onion my nana makes.....shocking, greasy and staff did not ask once how we were enjoying our meal....guess our faces showed enough of that. Terrible, an insult to Italy.

Bad quality ingredients with mediocre cooking talent involved, very disappointed and shocked at the price for what was received. Staff and atomsphere was good and service was okay.

Twice we attempted to book a table, we clicked the reservation option with the promise they would contact us, we weren't contacted on either occasion. We shan't be attempting again.
