Great atmosphere and ambience. Food was decent but not worthy of the price.

A great restaurant with easy parking nearby. Lovely service and a couple of the waiters are Spanish! I recommend the spicy prawns (gambas picantes) as I think the chef uses pickled jalapeños for this dish which work surprisingly well. Also the albondigas (meatballs) as the sauce is delicious. You should always order bread here for the sauces. The paellas are very good too but you have to wait 30 minutes for these. So maybe worth having a few drinks and a couple of Tapas before the paellas. They serve Spanish cider too. A really good place for large groups too, especially for a birthday etc.

I would highly recommend La Regata. We had a wonderful meal. I've never had tapas before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The menu is vast and so varied, it makes you want to try different things. Being tapas, it's lots of small dishes, but you can choose the ones you prefer. The staff were so attentive and very welcoming. The food, I found, was so lovely and the place has such a nice atmosphere. La Regata has certainly set the bench mark high for any other tapas restaurants I go to. I will go back again, and I've already recommended it to my friends and family, who have already visited, and they loved it too. Thank you La Regata, my boyfriend and I had a wonderful time.

Ángel served us perfectly, the food was very good and the place was pleasant.

Service quality ruined the overall experience of the restaurant. Started of well when we were welcomed, seated and ordered, but food delivery, drinks, and trying to pay was like night and day. Tips are an exception and not an expectation, when we asked to remove it, the waiter was rude, dismissive and started serving another table instead of us… We tip in the UK for exceptional service, not for just doing your job. Pay your staff better and don’t expect your customers to cover their salary. So glad we removed the service charge, because after the waiter was short with us, didn’t make eye contact anymore and just walked off in a huff after the last person paid. That’s not how one should act, especially since all we did as customers was not leave a tip. Food portion sizes were good, but the prices are high to match, so kinda expected.

First visit family birthday, nice decor , good food not busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Staff excellent. Not hurried . Relaxed atmosphere. Would I go again? Yes Only moan 8 people and food was coming out a bit at a time . Needs addressing. All in all nice place for a Tapas lunch or larger plates .

Varied menu and the food it's cooked to perfection.

Nice place with kind and friendly staff in a very good spot near the sea. The food is moderately tasty. Strong smell of food (pan) in the room from bad ventilation, which you will understand on your clothes the next day. Reasonable prices but: Complete disappointment the paella with muddy rice and some seafood on the verge of decomposition! The squid mainly and the shrimps with a clearly altered smell and taste (for the brave ones who wanted to try). In the attempt to discreetly inform, that the dish that we of course returned was inappropriate, we received the equally discreet and polite reply that "the chef has 18 years of experience in this restaurant and judges it to be impeccable". Overall an unfortunate maybe, but definitely bad experience for everyone!

Así que cenamos en La Regata y pedimos la paella con mariscos. Desafortunadamente, fue una gran decepción. El marisco claramente no era fresco - los calamares, en particular, sabían como masticar un pañuelo de papel y los camarones estaban secos y tenían un sabor muy sospechoso para nosotros para comer con seguridad. El arroz estaba mal cocinado y era insípido, carente del sabor rico y cocinado a fuego lento que uno espera de una paella adecuada. Como mediterráneo que ha disfrutado de los mariscos durante más de 40 años, me pareció inaceptable recibir la respuesta del chef: “Tengo 18 años de experiencia en cocina, y la comida está bien”, cuando planteamos nuestras preocupaciones. También sé cómo distinguir cuál es calamar/gambas frescas y cuál es rancio y/o inseguro de comer. A pesar de estos flagrantes problemas, no se ofreció ningún reembolso o resolución, a pesar de que devolvimos nuestro plato de paella casi intacto. Si bien el resto del personal fue amable, no excusa la comida deficiente y la actitud despectiva hacia los comentarios de los clientes. Comer fuera debería ser una experiencia agradable y satisfactoria, pero esta visita estaba lejos de serlo. No puedo recomendar este restaurante, ni volvería a visitarlo.

My husband booked this for date night because we have always wanted to go and wow! Just fabulous as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere is great and the service is so welcoming. We had a drink at the bar before being seated. We were chatting alot so we asked the waitress to recommend a few dishes because there is so much to chose from. She recommended the aubergine (I am not a fan) and it was amazing! All the food was amazing! Just such a great night. If you want atmosphere, great food and amazing service then this is the place to go!

A good meal after all. It was a bit crowded but on the whole, a nice place to enjoy some quality food.

My wife and I booked La regata on our way down from North Wales, as we were setting sail from southhampton the following morning. We arrived mid evening to a warm welcome. We had a bottle of the white rioja and shared 5 tapas between us, which left just enough room for a delicious creme catalana. As a chef who loves good food and tapas, I can thoroughly recommend this lovely establishment. Excellent service, food, wine, and atmosphere.

Well established Spanish restaurant - good food, service happy to recommend

Visited on Saturday night, very busy and we had not booked but we were able to get a table upstairs. Lively atmosphere and nice decor, service was slow but this was not surprising owing to how busy it was . Ordered 5 tapas dishes and drinks , wine list pleasing as all Spanish wines which was nice . Food disappointing consisted mainly of potatoes in the sauces and was not very spicy . Patatas Bravas appeared dry and as if it had been kept warm or recooked. Did not like the added service charge as much prefer to pay my own gratuities !!

Absolutely delightful Spanish restaurant with exquisite cuisine! I've been a frequent visitor since 2021, and every time, the experience has been unforgettable. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly their Spanish seafood paella mixed with meat – it's a heavenly blend of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. The service is impeccable, and the ambiance is charming, making it a perfect spot for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Very good service, When I explained I had a food allergy for squid/octopus and I had order 2 fish Tapas the witress checked with the Chef who stated that the fish tapas were prepared in the vicinty of the squid/octopus and would not recommend them. The staff were so friendly, some of the nicest staff I've ever come across. They also checked for allergies and were really good about it. The food was amazing, the best tapas I've had outside of Spain. Great atmosphere too. Definitely recommend this place!

Fantastic evening. Booked for 21:30 & turned up late. Still received a positive reception & excellent food. Didn't realise Southampton was doing default service charge, however happy to pay! Only tip: PLEASE use balsamic vinegar, not glaze.

Have used La Ragata for years and has it now gone downhill. Greeting was not welcoming at all. Choice reduced on what it was. Plastic covered menus reminiscent of a take away. The tapas is bland - albondigas no herbs in a bland salsa. Patatas bravas only just cooked but salsa brava reasonable. Championes al aljillo tasteless. All reminds me of hospital food. Waitress just walked off the wine list and never asked. All in all totally disappointing. It used to be excellent- they need a decent chef

Went here for a family birthday celebration the other evening and we had a lovely time. Service was friendly and organised. Good menu with plenty of choice and we ordered lots of different tapas. It all came quite fairly quickly but not all at once so we could savour what was on the table. Everything seemed cooked fresh and it was all delicious. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and we were surprised with a candle in some ice cream for my son’s birthday. Will definitely return.

Visited here on a Sunday at 5pm. Although quiet to start with it soon filled up. The 4 of us had a selection of Tapas to start with and 4 main courses. Everyone enjoyed the food and the servers were polite and answered our questions regarding a few menu choices.

Table booked for 7:45pm. Arrived on time. Ordered selection of tapas (8) but took over an hour to receive any dish. All Arrived at same time which wasn’t ideal either. Normally you get them coming out at different times. So after waiting an hour for food, still charged 10% service charge….not impressed

Another visit to our favourite restaurant for some more delicious food. We had a lovely evening with some great tapas and sangria. Although the restaurant was very busy the service was prompt and with friendly staff. It was so lovely to see Jose had returned to the team. We have been dining at La Regata for 22 years and still enjoy and recommend it as much as we always did. Thanks to all. See you soon.

The worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Terrible , very rude staff, tasteless disgusting food and they clearly hate their jobs. The mushroom croquettes were actually hollow, no mushrooms inside them! The place is dreadful

The best Spanish food in Nan'an! The paella is very fragrant and must be ordered every time. The portion is smaller than in Spanish restaurants, but the taste is very good. The shrimp in oil is delicious!

Absolutely satisfying dinner, food were great. The seafood paella need to be crispy burnt in texure. Overall it's a great evening for our group.

We have been here lots of times over a number of years and have always been very pleased with our food. Service is brilliant, I cannot fault that and have always found the staff, polite and attentive. Today was the same, the food though was a massive disappointment. I understand that prices have gone up everywhere so wasn’t surprised to see this, however the portion size and quality of the food today was quite shocking. Wafer thin rock hard pork belly (4 pieces) 8 rings of calamari and what I can only describe as 2 pieces of chicken no bigger than my thumb inTomato sauce with chorizo. I sadly won’t be returning to eat here anytime soon.

4th time I've been here, I live local , it seems the food is lowering the quality every time I come back. 1st time was in 2018, and it was really nice, but since then, the quality is nowhere near has good. Service was good and friendly tho.

First time going here and we went for the tapas and the food was delicious. The manager guy was very helpful and pleasant. Some of the tapas are suprsingly quite filling but for a table of 4 we had about 8 altogether. The iberico pork shoulder was amazing and highly recommended. Would definitely go back

Possibly due to the fact that I booked our seats an hour before our meal, we were put at a very small table on the second floor. When we offered to change to a bigger table, we were given seats in front of the toilet door. Behind me was the door to the toilets and there was a constant stream of people going to the toilet, opening and closing the door. The service attitude was overall average. The food was overall ok, except the paella tasted too salty for us to eat. As we were leaving we were asked if we wanted to pack paella, we agreed to do so out of politeness but there were only plastic boxes and no bags. When I went to ask if there were any bags available, a waitress indicated to me that there weren't any and then handed me a bin bag for my food and we opted to leave straight away. When we left the restaurant, two waitresses saw us and turned their heads to continue chatting. Personally, I felt that these waitresses were not very friendly to us, but they were very welcoming to other customers. Not booking in advance to let us sit at the small tables and the seats in front of the toilets is understandable, I think. But letting me take rubbish bags for food is just beyond my comprehension. I'm not going back to this restaurant.

Excellent restaurant, great paella, excellent sangria, recommended

A medium experience I’d say, the food was great the atmosphere was average we had to go upstairs but there was space downstairs But the service was distinctly average, We were met by a grumpy looking poorly dressed Maitre’d and similarly attituded waitresses, just no smiles and a “I don’t want to be here” persona. Some staff training is required I’d say. A simple fix!

Nice venue but quite bland tapas that was served cold. Disappointing especially given the high prices. Not recommended.

I had been looking forward to coming to La Regatta for a while as the photos of the food look amazing and the reviews are generally glowing, however I was quite disappointed. After a 40 minute wait for 6 tapas dishes the Cerdo Relleno was served cold and a hot replacement was not possible as they had run out of that and all other pork dishes. Requesting Chorizo Picante as a replacement I was instead give patatas con chorizo instead… how annoying. Asking for a jug of water also took three attempts, which is forgivable on a busy night, but certainly didn’t add to our experience. Generally the quality of the food was mixed with the Alcachofa Al Ajillo and Pollo Al Chorizo being delicious (if a little on the cold side but I wasn’t going to complain again). However the Croquetas De Jamon Iberico and Pulpo A La Gallega were pretty disappointing, especially given the price tag on the latter (£14). Overall, £65 for two people (soft drinks only, no alcohol) with mediocre food is too much to pay and so I doubt I’ll be returning soon. Update: girlfriend had diarrhea 30 mins after leaving the restaurant. Removed one star.

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! All five of us were in agreement that it is the best tapas we have ever had! As well the staff were so lovely and welcoming and ensured to make my graduation feel extra special, thank you :)

After reading so many positive reviews I wanted to try this restaurant. I am disappointed because firstly I had booked on Google and when I arrived there was no reservation... I have 2 small dogs and even if they are allowed to come in I was offered a kind of table in front of the door, which is fine obviously I refused. In addition to the fact that the restaurant was not full. I arrived at 8:30 p.m., I placed an order at 8:40 p.m. and even though the kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. and it is noted that for a paella the waiting time is 40 minutes, I was refused, even though it was There was plenty of time to prepare it. So I asked for a vegetarian paella and a chicken dish but honestly the paella had no taste and the chicken was bad... at 9:20 p.m. they put the bill on the table and everyone was out... really not to recommend this restaurant

10 minutes walk from our cruise ship terminal - lovely decor, great staff, loved the amount of light and fresh air - and great tasty food and wine. A fun pre-cruise evening.

We went here for our wedding aniversary. Wonderful decore, great staff, attractive location but the Tapas was not authentic Spanish , but above all the food was bland and needing seasoning. Tasteles food the shelled prawns did not have the digestive tube removed and the rocket was old ; some pieces had gone slimy, wilted and yellow - (it goes like that after 4 or 5 days) Its very expensive for the amount of food served. I am a good cook, and can do much much better than this place and they are in the food bussiness! All they need here is a good Chef who knows what he is doing and tastes his food before serving. It would make the place outstanding!

It's going to be my birthday. I have chosen a very good Spanish restaurant and the owner and service staff are very warm. The paella is delicious. I'll come back next time!

One kind of paella is pure seafood. One is seafood + meat. It doesn't feel good. It's made of yellow rice. The rice doesn't have any flavour. It doesn't suit my taste, It's a must-have dish. If increase the amount of the dish, it may be a better choice.

Venerdì 26 aprile 2024 a cena. Locale molto affollato, servizio discreto, cibo non esaltante. Prendiamo 1 ribes, 1 plato de pata negra, 1 croquetas de jamón iberico, 1 pan con alioli e 1 paella valenciana x 2. Prezzo in linea e spendiamo £77,82 senza bere niente.

Considering the prices for the tapas we were expecting exceptional dishes. However, the food was very bland and oily. Overall we were left a bit disappointed.

An excellent Spanish restaurant! The white wine and paella are fantastic. The paella has a rich flavor and a large portion, suitable for two people. It's located right by the harbor in Southampton, so you can get there quickly after disembarking.

Bar was well staffed, sit-down cocktails were well prepared. Very good quality food and atmosphere. Service was amazing and there was always a waiter available. Prices are fair given the service and taste. Would definitely and will recommend to friends.

Friendly staff and very fast food which was excellent. Stopped here for a quick lunch before dropping someone to the cruise ships. Had the sea bass and it was perfectly cooked. For being at the seaside the pricing was cheap in my opinion for the quality and current cost of living. Recommend.

Great to go to s Spanish restaurante or tapas bar and be able to speak to someone in Spanish (I’m learning the language). The tortilla and coffee es bueno.

Nothing special, deffo not worth the money. Would not recommend. Calamari was stretchy, tough. It should have the texture like butter. They failed. Also, 10% service charge added to the price, you cannot even decide over the tip. When busy the service is zero to none. Not returning.
