La Piazza in Edinburgh, City of

Across my three visits to this place close to the West End tram station, this would be the most consistent I have seen a restaurant be. The ambience is decent and there are plenty of seats for both small and large parties. I tried a wide range of dishes (an office party especially helped me taste a lot of different items), and the food was pretty much spot on. The appetisers, pastas, desserts are worth the money spent and the Moscow Mule would easily rank as one of the best cocktails I have tried. The carbonara with split eggs and a half-set Tiramisu were probably the only two items that did not meet the standard of the rest of the food. Recommendation: 8/10 Instagram: theravenousbong

The food was just not good enough. We had a pizza which was good, but the pasta was very mediocre and the cheese cake was bad.

We really only liked 1 of the 3 dishes ordered. I really love foccacia bread and was excited to order the appetizer. The bread honestly tasted like pizza dough and looked similar to the pizzas being served. The seafood risotto was okay. The gnocchi with sausage was very tasty. The sausage was very flavorful. The service was not so great.

There again last night for our anniversary meal. As usual the service was superb, the food was outstanding and the welcome we received was very much appreciated. Still up there as our favourite Italian in Edinburgh.

Delicious meal, especially happy with so many gluten free options (Bread, starters, pasta and pizza) Our party of 7 people had a mix of dishes (various starters, pizzas, pastas, gluten free pasta and desserts) and all really enjoyed them. Have been visiting Scotland over this last week and this by far was the standout restaurant.A warm welcome and first class service from Danil from Naples.My wife’s lobster ravioli was delicious,my Arrabiata superb and the children are still raving about their Spaghetti bolognese and pizza.Very highly recommended.

Been here lots of time with work, but took the kids for the first time and have been talking about it for ages before taking them.Food and service was excellent. In covid environment, always going to be a place that is less affected than most, due to the family connections. It was awesome as usual. Pizza was amazing and pasta dish was excellent, kids were impressed.Service was on point as usual, Give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

Just wanted to write a honest and a well needed review. I came to Edinburgh 2 and a half years ago and I was dining with you guys. I was by myself as I booked a couple days away to chill and I was made to feel so welcome even back then. The staff talked with me and the restaurant manager came to chat to me at the end of service and spoke about my career etc. I said to him I would be back , and to my surprise here I was back again at your wonderful restaurant with some faces I have seen before. So first of all , the welcome you get is second to none. The barman , the waiter with the long hair and our lovely waiter I didn’t get the name off were both top class. After working in the 5 star hotel industry it’s lovely to relax and experience the service for yourself and these guys all walked around with a smile on their faces like they were genuinely happy to work there . They are so passionate and that’s special giving today’s climate and the virus. The very nice gentleman was excited for his day off , and he deserved it. I asked for a meat pizza and he went out his way to organise a pizza with a lot of meat on it. And he was happy to organise this without me even asking. My girlfriend had a nut allergy and again , this was taken very seriously . Just thought I would leave a 5 star review for a 5 star place. Food , service , beer , drinks were incredible and you deserve to be noticed , so thanks again , and I’ll see you soon ! All the best team

So lovely to be welcomed somewhere by lovely staff swiftly followed by delicious food and attentive service. Thank you to all at La Piazza for safely accommodating our group and looking after us so well. Salmon and asparagus risotto was superb and everything else ordered was delicious.

Excellent food and superb service. Waiter was attentive without being fussy. The food was very good authentic Italian. We had pizza, pasta, veal medallions and chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Would definitely go back.

My husband and I ate here last Friday 28/5 for my birthday, we hadn’t booked and they managed to squeeze us in, and I’m so pleased they did! The food was superb and the service was impeccable, lovely friendly staff! Definitely worth a visit!

This is a good restaurant for some standard Italian food. Service is great and prices are reasonable. Lots to choose from on the menu. Only downside is the seafood didn’t taste totally fresh

Lovely authentic restaurant with a hidden garden at the rear. Staff are super friendly & attentive. We were looking for a table during lock down for a wee drink before heading home & they sorted us out straight away & made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend

Went for Dinner with my girlfriend in early December after being recommended by family and we were not disappointed!The food was excellent and the service was even better. We had to 2 starters and 2 mains and limoncello to finish. Would highly recommend to anyone from Edinburgh or anyone visiting we will definitely be back.

Había reservado este restaurante para el sábado por la noche mientras estaba en Edimburgo, pero cancele durante la semana ya que había recibido una recomendación para otro italiano. ¡Ojalá no lo hubiera hecho ya que La Piazza era mucho mejor! El restaurante estaba ubicado a la vuelta de la esquina de nuestro hotel (Waldorf Caledonian) y a la vista no parece mucho desde afuera, pero es muy agradable y espacioso cuando entras en el restaurante. Nos habían prometido un auténtico italiano en el lugar en el que habíamos estado la noche anterior, ¡pero no estábamos cerca de donde este lugar era absolutamente perfecto! El restaurante estaba bastante tranquilo cuando entramos, pero pronto comenzó a llenarse ya que visitamos alrededor de las 5 pm. ¡La comida era deliciosa! Pizza y pasta adecuada ya precios muy razonables. Vino encantador para acompañarlo y el servicio muy bueno durante toda la comida. Realmente recomendaría ir aquí para disfrutar de una auténtica comida italiana con un servicio encantador y acogedor.

A simple but delicious seafood linguine the sauce was superb , garlic bread washed down with a Bier morretti , delightful. Good service reasonable cost, highly recommended and I would certainly return.

Staff simpatico e attento. Ho preso le polpettine di spinaci, buone ma un po' troppo salate, poi ho ordinato i ravioli all'astice...non ho mai mangiato ravioli più buoni! La salsa era cremosa e delicata, i gamberetti buonissimi e i ravioli deliziosi! Un'ottima esperienza! Al mio ragazzo è piaciuto molto il paté e le lasagne.

Todo en nuestra visita fue perfecto. Alimentos, bebidas, servicio y en este momento covid seguridad. La comida era excelente, estábamos encantados de elegir con el menú, pero ambos pedimos los ravioles de langosta como entrantes seguidos de vitello Romana. Los platos eran impresionantes, los ravioles caseros eran finos como el papel y la salsa era sublime. La ternera y el jamón de Parma para el plato principal volvieron a ser de primera calidad. El restaurante está relucientemente limpio, las mesas están bien distanciadas y hay varios desinfectantes. Volveré a Edimburgo en diciembre y sin duda volveré a este restaurante.

Had dinner here as a family. The waiters were all polite, welcoming and friendly. The food was great - proper italian stuff. I had the seafood spaghetti which was to die for. Would definately go back!

When we first arrived I wanted to leave straight away. In the front of the restaurant was no body sitting and in the back there were only a few tables occupied in a very large room, not cozy at all. But then we saw the small terrace in the back and asked if we could sit there. From then on we had a lovely evening, enjoying one of the few nights

Bonsoir ! Ce soir La Piazza!Restaurant très joli, belle terrasse, très agréable, à deux pas de la cathédrale de Strasbourg, sur une joli petite place, un restaurant spécialités italiennes. Le service impeccable, efficace, un peux long au début du à une influence importante, sinon très cordiale et souriante. Les boissons, on est parti sur un muscat et un jus de pomme, le muscat pas chère et très bon et bien frais, le jus de pomme un peux chère (4€10)le plat, pour ma part les pennes étaient bonnes, mais un goût trop relevé à l'ail à mon goût avec une quantité limite dans l'assiette,Au sujet des désert, profiteroles au chocolat et tramisu maison, les profiteroles étaient à la hauteur, par contre le tramisu était très réussi et très bon, Et pour finir le prix, moins de 50€, 48 pour être précis, pour 2 boissons 2 plats et 2 desserts, rapport qualité prix très bon. Pour conclure, même si la cuisine est pas excellente, et encore il faudrait goûter toute la carte, on a passer une agréable soirée pour pas trop chère, et Merci à notre serveuse Diana !

Booked this restaurant after reading the many great reviews.Our family was not disappointed.The staff were very friendly, engaging and efficient at serving us. All four of us had pasta dishes and agreed that they were right up there with some of the best dishes we have been served when eating out. Thoroughly enjoyable evening and would highly recommend.

We booked this as our first dinner out in Edinburgh on 6th Aug 2020.We were warmly welcomed, all explanations of distancing and track & trace and had their online menu sorted in seconds.I chose the Caprese di Bufala starter with Bread and Oils to share (you can't skip the bread and oils when you were raised on Italian food ) and the Penne Arrabbiata for main.Darren chose the Orrechiette con Salsiccia for Starters and Rigatoni alla Norcina for mains.Wow, wow, wow. You cannot beat fresh pasta, all was cooked perfectly al denté. Darren's starter was soooo good, I really can't explain the flavours that were packed into that beautiful sauce, it was phenomenal!! By far the best Italian dish we've ever tried.My main was packing quite the punch and it's exactly what I loved! I was just sad that I was too full to finish it all!The atmosphere was lovely inside, we stayed and had a couple of drinks in the front area to enjoy a little rest after all the noms!The staff were lovely, we gladly left a tip to say an extra thank you, especially since we know times have been hard.

Ate here this week while visiting Edinburgh. We benefited from a huge discount on the ‘Eat out to help out Scheme’ which was a bonus to the already delicious food that we ate there. Would definitely recommend

As soon as lockdown was over I knew I had to re book to my favourite Italian in the city and I was not disappointed. I have been going here for years, and the food has never been bad. Arrived with a few people who had never been before and they loved it. I had mussels and the rigatoni alla norcina. Both beautiful dishes. Only slight complaint was the mussels now come with croutons instead of toasted bread on the side which wasn’t as good for me as they get a bit soggier in the broth but I know for next time to get them separate. Fab night can’t wait to be back

It was great to have my favourite Italian restaurant reopen again ,once again pepe and his team did a great job in compliance with the safety rule ,the food was still fantastic and the service Also ,please give this little place A try .

OMG what can I say ! We stayed in Edinburgh for 5 nights and came here twice for our evening meal. Friendly service and clean restaurant. But it’s the food that really sells this place. The fresh hand made pizza is just awesome. I had the meat feast with chillis and didn’t want it to end ! If you like pizza you will love it here. Give them a try !

My and my husband stumbled across La Piazza around 5 years ago when we visited Edinburgh and had the most fabulous night, the food being amazing and the service even better!I then visited a couple of years later for a Hen Do with 23 others and suggested eating here and again it didn't disappoint!Up this weekend for a family do and took parents here for an early tea....everyone said it's the nicest version of each of our dishes we have ever had! Stunning food and service.Couldn't recommend this place enough!Thanks for another lovely meal! Until next time...

Still remains my favourite Italian ever. Always busy but courteous staff. The sausage and Gorgonzola pasta with pistachios on top was exquisite. Mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham ( baked) superb starter. Puglian primitivo +++.

We stumbled upon La Piazza by chance on one of our many trips to Edinburgh & now make a point of returning each time we visit the city.The lasagne is the best I’ve ever tasted, staff always lovely without being overbearing & extremely reasonably priced.Cannot wait for our next visit.

Lovely food and service. Three of us had 2 pasta dishes and the risotto and it was really, really delicious. Don't leave reviews often but this place was such a delight! Our servers were Luca, Danilo and Francesco and they were all incredibly accomodating. Would recommend the orecchiette with gorgonzola and the fennel sausage - was divine. Will definitely be coming back here! Additional comment from another guest: the waiters were fabulous and I loved them! The food was absolutely gorgeous,desserts were so delicious,and I'm a fan of the fairy lights and the whole atmosphere the lovely staff and food and drinks create!

One of the best recommendations I’ve had, Dani, Francesco and Luca were fantastic and managed our little 6 month reunion brilliantly (the complementary limoncello was a lovely touch!). We were a small last minute party and we were made to feel so welcome by all - the vegetarian options as well as the wine selection was also excellent (please make the Chianti house!) thank you to all!

Ate here on a Tuesday night while staying overnight in Edinburgh. Although quiet to start with by the time we were leaving it was at least half full which for a midweek night is pretty impressive. Food, service and atmosphere were fabulous and although slightly more expensive than we are used to it was very good value for money.Both our meals were exceptional, my wife having the Gamberoni Thermidor, which she counted had 14 huge king prawns. My main of the veal in onion, mushroom cream and brandy sauce was as good a veal dish as I have tasted.

I live very near La Piazza and feel very lucky to have such a restaurant in my neighbourhood. I often bring friends here for a quiet lunch or dinner or for a celebration. Often I go to La Piazza after work when I am too tired to cook. I can be sure that I will be welcomed and that the food and wine will be exceptionally good.

This restaurant is amazing. the service is top notch and the food was just incredible. The salads are amazing we ordered them all and shared. My favorite was the lasagna. It was soooooo good. My daughter loved their chicken strips. Unfortunately now she doesn't want to eat mine! Wines are reasonably priced and food is definitely worth the price.

Went to La Piazza for a family lunch on Saturday 4th January. We had a great time. The food and wine were amazing! The staff were very customer focused and so lovely to my little 2 year old grandson. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

Bel locale in posizione centrale, atmosfera calda ed accogliente. Cibo di ottima qualità ma ..ricette meridionali rivisitate e trattate con variazioni nordiche( panna e pistacchi, scialatielli al profumo di mare ..annegati in una purea di pomodoro!). Buona è abbastanza ampia la lista dei vini con prezzi adeguati alla qualità . Servizio veloce, familiare, ma in alcuni vasi poco professionale (scarsa conoscenza degli ingredienti usati , bottiglia portata a tavola già stappata), ma tanti sorrisi e tanta buona volontà ! Prezzi nella media e certamente commisurati alla qualità ed al tipo di locale.

Alla cucina "pasticciata" piena di salse e di fritti della bella Edimburgo, per la cena del 31 abbiamo preferito la nostra: italiana, sana, di qualità.

Dopo due giorni di cucina scozzese avevamo voglia di "sentirci a casa", ci mancava anche capire bene cosa avremmo trovato nel piatto! (Il nostro inglese non è un granché ‍♀️). Qui abbiamo trovato tutto questo , Francesco ci ha seguiti e coccolati dall'inizio alla fine, consigliando senza essere invadente. Ottimo l'antipasto: melanzane alla parmigiana come quelle della nonna e capesante con avocado veramente sfiziose! Poi abbiamo preso dei paccheri ai gamberi e pistacchio di Bronte eccezionali , la cottura della pasta era perfetta! Spigola alla ligure molto gustosa, accompagnata da un'insalata di finocchio, arance e pepe rosso Il tutto innaffiato da un buon Trebbiano e, dulcis in fondo, il caffè italiano, finora mai trovato qui!! Ottimo tapporto qualità/prezzo, consiglio vivamente.

We booked for 6 people on Saturday and although it was busy we could not find fault with anything at all. The food was delicious and hot and the service excellent for how busy it was with only a short wait between courses which was just right. The waiters were all really friendly and overall a fantastic evening. We would all highly recommend it and will be back if in Edinburgh.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking to princes street from our hotel. What a lovely Italian!! Food was very prompt, we had lovely starters and mains. The carbonara and calzone pizza was so delicious! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area, the food was reasonably priced too.
