La Marina in Gwynedd

We found the food, service, ambiance and cleanliness at La Marina to be excellent. It is in a nice location opposite the marina/dock at Y Felinheli. We recommend La Marina for somewhere with a 'touch of class' to enjoy a meal.

Food was amazing .The restaurant was very busy . Unfortunately, this was reflected in the service which was exceedingly slow at times . The staff were , however, very pleasant even though they had difficulty in coping with the number of customers . Disappointed that the barman couldn’t provide any cocktail that wasn’t on their official list , but the choice of alcoholic drinks was still good. Will definitely return.. the food, location, ambience - all good!

Enjoyed an evening mea at La Marina. Lovely location and pleasant restaurant. The service was good and the food even better. I had the crispy beef salad which I didn't want to end, great flavours . All in all a very nice place to dine .

Absolutely amazing food & the house wine was delicious, service was amazing, we sat outside and enjoy the amazing view of the castle, it sits just in front of the waters edge , will definitely be returning, have told all my friends to try this place out !!!!!

We booked for 18.30 but didn't need to, something for everyone on the menu so we had two each and had a bit of everything. All good mostly, service very good, enjoyed the Largo beer, thank you.

Best tapas I've eaten! Visited as a family of 4 with 2 young children. Staff were really accommodating and friendly. My 5 year old shared tapas with us and says Belly pork is his new favourite dish. Would definitely return.

Myself and my partner live in Felinheli so are local to the area.We have heard nothing but good things about La Marina but had never been there before. It was my partner's birthday and as a surprise her son had booked and organised a suprise meal out for 4 of us. We were so looking forward to it. We were showed to our table and I was very surprised to see that considering it was a Friday evening there was only ourselves and another table of 4 people occupied. We had only just sat down and after we ordered our drinks the waitress hadn't given us a chance to even look at the Menu for our food choices, so we asked if she could give us some time please. When the food finally did arrive it was stone cold, Teriyaki mushrooms were full of grease inside the batter, Then the so called chips had the actual insdes scraped out so were really potato skins. I felt so guilty that my son had to pay for this food and then because I didn't want to come across ungrateful as this was my birthday present from him so didn't want to complain about it all evening. I would never go to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone else. Terrible to say least.

Went to this place last night, good choice of drinks, loved the decoration and quiet atmosphere of the place. Only negative thing I could say is that the waiter came back 3 times after we had ordered as the menu had been changed and we had to choose a couple of different things but he was apologetic about it. Food was absolutely gorgeous, loved all the things I had - nachos, feta dip, salt and pepper chips and patatas bravas. Staff were attentive and pleasant and the puddings were also divine. Would definitely come again as I was on holiday with parents in the apartment up the road. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delightful food. Summer salmon and cous cous light, fresh and tasty. Haloumi salad had great textures- little cubes of crispy haloumi. Tatas bravas freshly prepared and very moreish. Definitely would go back based on today. Very good value for money too. Compliments to the chef!!

Despite it being a weekend, I tried to book a table and I have to say the communication was fantastic, they only had one table available and were very clear that they needed it back within a certain timespan.....no problem.The choice of food was excellent and was fresh and very tasty. La Marina has just jumped onto my all time top restaurant list! The flavours were both unusual and exquisite. We shared six dishes between four ladies, and we were nicely full. There was a fantastic choice on the menu which must surely cater for everyone. The staff were professional and friendly too. I will go out of my way to return here when next in N Wales.

I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve eaten here. It’s been months since we’ve been out for a meal. Living in the middle of Anglesey, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. So many excellent places to eat. But La Marina is always on top of our list. When we arrived we saw it was so much busier then usual. It was packed! We were worried we wouldn’t get the usual excellent service and food we were used to. We needn’t have worried! The service once again was excellent. The food as tasty as ever. A perfect evening. Hats off to the staff who remained calm and welcoming throughout the evening. Thank you all for a wonderful evening yet again!

We dine here regularly since we bought our holiday home nearby. I can’t recommend La Marina highly enough. The staff are pleasant and the menu is fantastic with something for everyone. We’ve never had a bad dish during our numerous visits over the last few months. They change the menu often enough for it not to become boring and the outside space is great for having a drink in the sunshine!

I have been to La Marina a few times but have never taken the time out to write a review so after our last visit I have decided to take 5 mins to give you guys reading this my opinion I think I have tried pretty much everything on the menu and granted not everything is to my taste (personal preference) but can not fault the food or the presentation. Highly recommended by me are the following - Spicy Beef Flat bread, Penderyn Belly Pork, The portions may look small but trust me they pack a punch with the flavours and are more filling than they look - trust me!!Staff as always are amazing, very accommodating and make you feel welcomed and valued. Seriously if you are ever in the area then you need to give this place a try - you wont be disappointed !!Keep up the good work

We stopped here a couple of times just for drinks. We sat outside on benches overlooking the marina. It was lovely and relaxing. We had the dogs with us and that was no problem. You nip inside and order your drinks and a member of staff brings them to your table. The staff were lovely and very polite. We didn’t eat, but the food did look very nice. Definitely worth a visit

The whole restaurant experience including the location made us feel like we were abroad. There were 3 of us (2 adults and 11 year old) and we all chose 2 dishes each plus a flatbread and patatas bravas. The food was ample to share between 3 of us and we were too full up for dessert. The setting is lovely in the harbour. We ate inside but there were tables outside too where you could eat or simply have a drink. They had a cocktail list too which looked nice but didn’t sample any as stuck to wine and gin. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Booked for lunch and the place looked lovely. Inside was clean and airy with lovely decor. Our starters arrived and they were very good. After about half an hour our main courses arrived and were served along side our starter dishes. I assumed that the waitress would remove them once she had set down the main course. So we moved our dishes for her and she set down the meal and left. Leaving the starter dishes with us.The main courses were appalling. The chicken was like leather, the paella consisted of half a dessert bowl of rice that tasted like chicken stock 5 mussels and 5 prawns. Nothing else!! £10 worth of nothing else!! I feed my cat more. There were no table checks, no service at all until she collected the plates. The bill came to £85. We were ripped off. Probably assumed we were on holiday and we paid the tourist price. Truth is I've lived here for 10 years. So we won't be back and I will recommend all my customers not to go there.

Wow amazing service and food. The rhubarb and celariac coleslaw was the star and complemented all the dishes we ordered. We had the beef and lamb and babaganoosh flatbread and potatas bravas. Stunning. Friendly welsh speaking staff. Well recomended. Gwych da iawn bendant dod yn ol !

What an amazing placeThe food was exquisite and such good portions. The staff were so helpful and very professional. The manager Ewan was very polite and very helpful and the serving staff was very helpful too. The chef and kitchen staff deserve a massive round of applause. My husband said that the red snapper was better than a fish dish he had, had in a 5 star hotel. Thank you for helping us create some wonderful memories on our holiday.

We came to Y Felinheli for the weekend and enjoyed a lovely Saturday evening meal here. We had 5 plates between two which was plenty the portion sizes are brilliant! There was a good busy ambience about this waterside restaurant. The advice we received was 2-3 mains per person’s n. Of course we added some patatas bravas and couple of other side dishes and we were full as eggs at the end. Reasonable wine list and desserts too. Pleasant staff to boot.

Really disappointed.Before I even got there I emailed to explain it was my husbands birthday. The response was that they don’t do anything for birthdays.. OK…When we got there and ordered, we were brought the wrong drink. The waiter went away and came back to tell us they didn’t have what we ordered - not sure why we weren’t told but fine, these things happen. We got the chicken and sweetcorn flatbread, the garlic flatbread, lamb, the beef salad and the chicken goujons with chips. The goujons were basically dry breaded chicken balls. The chicken flatbread wasn’t so good either. My son barely touched it. Luckily the garlic and cheese flatbread was ok so he ate some of that.The beef salad was really disappointing. Very salty the vegetables were soggy because there was too much dressing. I fed this back to the team and was told it was a new dish and they were grateful for the feedback but that was about it. I honestly don’t understand why we had this experience. I read the reviews and was really excited. I even double checked the address to see if I’d researched a different restaurant by the same name!I’m only staying in the area a few days so clearly won’t be returning.

I contacted the restaurant by email a couple of weeks previously, as I wanted to book for a large group, and wasn't sure it would be possible due to covid restrictions. I received a reply saying they could accommodate us.When we arrived at to allocated time and date we were told quite abruptly that we were a day late and thee was no room for us.I showed the staff member the email on my phone, pointing out that it was their mistake. Rgater than receive an apology we were abruptly taken to some picnic benches outside.... we were then too that there was a limited menu due to us being outside. The 'limited menu' amounted to chips and flatbreads....This was a big family event, arranged to celebrate the lives of two people we had lost during lockdown... having been unable to arrange proper funerals. So we didn't want to make a fuss at the time, but I did email the restaurant to express my disappointment. They seemed to completely fail to understand the points I was making, and replied that they couldn't treat us any differently to other customers who were sitting outside. They failed to recognise that it was their mistake.The reason for writing this is that I wouldn't want others to have similar experiences, l suggest double checking that they have the dates right on your booking..... also be aware that the outside menu is very, very limited.

My wife and I have visited La Marina previously. I absolutely loved the Garlic Chips, and she couldn’t get enough of the Pork Belly with Whiskey. When in the area, we always have our dog with us, as we can’t leave him in our caravan. But this is fine as we enjoy eating outdoors. On this occasion we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, found a seat right beside the front door. My wife sat with the dog and I went indoors to order. I was advised by the person at the till “Sorry we’re not serving outdoors today”. I explained that we had the dog with us, and were thus unable to eat indoors. I was then told, “we’re concentrating on bookings inside”. Now whilst that’s absolutely fine, and the prerogative of the restaurant, I was a little stunned. I thought that the restaurant trade post Covid was still keen to attract business. This restaurant is one where if you’re eating or drinking outdoors you go inside to order and pay, and the food/drink is brought out to you. When I asked, the waiting staff were still going outside to deliver cocktails! So I was a little bemused at the idea of turning down business.

We enjoyed a meal here during our recent stay in Y Fellinheli. The service was good, food was tasty and the location by the marina was lovely. We have been here on holiday for the week and visited this beautiful restaurant twice Because it’s amazing. We arrived to a very warm welcome which hasn’t happened many places in Wales (being English and all) waiter was very up to date on menu, helping with questions and requests. We ordered olives, lamb shoulder , mussel/king prawns taco, paella , chocolate cobbler and baklava. Me and my partner honestly could not fault anything it was absolutely Devine! We cannot believe how fresh the food was too. Our second time we ordered the spicy beef flat bread which was extra scrummy, 2 more mussel and king prawn tacos and salt/pepper chips. AGAIN could not fault anything, service was amazing again and cocktails .. especially pornstar martini was lovely. Please visit this Devine restaurant , with beautiful scenery. Cannot credit the staff enough either. Thankyou for topping off holiday !

Don't write a review often. But from the moment of walking in to leaving, felt very welcomed. The food is the best I've had in a long time. A little bit different from every where else, which is definitely a good thing. Keep on doing what you're doing (and ignore the whiny southerners! ).

Superb food and brilliant service. We had a lovely evening and thoroughly recommend this place. Hands up, I turned up without a booking. Guy at till said he would be a minute. He then went off, came back, went off again, came back, went off again. Each time ignoring me. So rude, could have told me their would be no tables as soon as we engaged the first time. Stood like an idiot waiting for a response for over 10 minutes. Also asked the waiter but he forgot eventually he told me they had no spare tables. The food looked nice, but the people outside told us they had been waiting for a pot of tea for 40 minutes. Says it all. Glad there was no space had a lovely lunch at a restaurant around the corner, they were polite, friendly and great value.

I visited La Marina whilst staying in the area visiting Snowdonia and was not disappointed! The place itself is lovely and in a picturesque location. Service was good, the waiter recommend 4-6 dishes for 2 people and we ordered 5 and this was plenty for 2. Portions were a good size for tapas, so I’d totally disagree with other comments about it being overpriced - I actually thought it was really reasonable. Food was hot and delicious, I would definitely return if ever in the area.

Having just moved to area we had seen that La Marina could be quite popular. So we tried it out one evening.We sat outside as it was quite busy and we hadn’t booked. The staff were really nice and pleasant. The food and drinks arrived on a decent time:Why I give this restaurant/ cafe a low review is because my partner and I order the belly pork with different toppings/ flavours. Now this is a tasty bit of meat but is renowned for being cheap due to the high fat content, We paid £7.50/£8 I think for each of meals and then had to fork out another £4/£5 for chips/ potatoes. We only ordered one portion as we thought they would be sufficient.When the food arrived it was served in a tin-foil takeaway tray. Then we looked and it was literally three small bits of belly pork/ or one slice cut into three for the price we paid. Chips were soggy and tepid. It was very disappointing as £7.50 for a Very small portion and I must say the flavourings to the pork were very weak.

Took my elderly mother there for her birthday. We were met by Nia, who I understand is the manager, she was exceptionally kind and considerate towards my mother, who has mobility issues, in assisting her to her table. She and other members of staff were most attentive and took time in explaining what the dishes were. The food was served piping hot and yo an exceptionally high standard. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Food small portions but note it is tapas style abs reasonably priced. Good cocktail menu and food was very tasty. Lovely setting next to the river
