La Luna in Calderdale

Excellent meal, I had meatballs and my other half had a roast chicken dish with vegetables , how they get the chicken so tender and tasty we don't know, but it is succulent melt in the mouth. I have been critical in the past because of the added service charge, this appears to have gone from the bill. I did leave a tip because the staff deserved it. La luna is in the in the top 3 best restaurants in the Halifax area in my opinion, it is always very busy too, popular for a reason, great dining.

Visited before attending a concert. Staff were friendly, welcoming and service was excellent. Service was really quick, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. Menus were given to us almost as soon as we were seated and drinks order was taken. After we had ordered our food, pepperoni pizza and mixed fajitas (Chicken and steak); the meals were brought within 10-20 minutes, and were piping hot and delicious. You could tell the pizza was cooked to order, not pre-prepared. Atmosphere was great. No negative issues at all. This was our 2nd visit and both visits were exactly the same. Will definitely be returning.

Family meal. Could not take pram in was loads of room for pram. Chicken supreme broccoli was hard. Hardly any sauce. Potatoes ok chichen was very small piece overall was tasteless very disappointed in all. As for price £21 very expensive for what you got. Will not be returning.

Whilst the food was good, it’s the service that lets the restaurant down. Greeted by an unfriendly manager and taken to our table. Table service was unfriendly and not personable, drink orders were incorrect on a couple of occasions. When leaving, there were 3 members of staff stood by the exit and not one of them said thank you or goodbye. All in all, I found the staff to be quite rude and this will put me off returning!

Was turned away due to having a very small dog they would not even accommodate my family outside despite no one else being seated outside at the time

My 2nd time here and I can't fault the service and food. Amazing place for a little date night, catch up with friends/family.

The best place to eat in Halifax. Amazing food and great staff.

My family and I came here for dinner on New Years Eve. It was so delicious and the portions were huge! We were stuffed, after starters and mains, we didn't have room for dessert. It is pricier than other places but definitely worth it for the quality and portion size of the meals.

We had the best steak last night! We like to come back to this place because the service is brilliant and the food is always delicious! Thank you guys

We went in December, just before Christmas. They have indoor and heated, covered outdoor. That is where we sat, 4 adults and 2 children. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. Our server (male) was very polite and attentive. It was busy but our orders came within 20 minutes. The food well presented and delicious. My only fault with this place was, for the amount of seating, there were not enough toilets (only 2) and not Accessible. That is why only 4 stars, otherwise a great experience.

Nice visit today on Christmas Eve for lunch. Prawns were fantastic as always and would recommend the sticky toffee pudding. Very busy and good atmosphere. Was seated outside but kept warm with the heaters. Plenty gluten free options also :) x

We booked the last slot on a Sunday evening, little did we realise that it meant we'd be rushed through. As soon as we sat down we were told the kithen was closing, so they'd take our food order before drinks. Not a good start! I decided what i wanted to be told they didn't have it, so I had to rush to choose a second option. We were in and out in less than an hour after 2 courses. Food was OK but £70 felt like a wrench, We were disappointed after the effort we went to get a night out away from 3 kids and a puppy.

Excellent meal again last night , the staff are just so lovely and are so attentive. After our meal I unfortunately had a nose bleed and one of the waitresses brought me a tissue with vinegar on it and it stopped immediately, I was so impressed. The salmon was perfect again and my husband’s lasagna was one of the best he’s had . We will be definitely back in the New year .

1 unisex toilet- 1 toilet solely for women. Love the basis of equality. Get a grip and get in the real world 👍

The best food and service in such a long time. So fresh and tasty. Friendly and welcoming staff. We had meatballs and linguini, chicken kebab and tiramisu

No disabled toilet facilities no step free access to ladies toilets. No baby change facilities. Push chairs not welcome but do offer storage space. Really acceptable in the 21st century? I think not will be spending my money elsewhere where in future.

Arrived and was greeted by a polite host. He was very helpful and quick to see us sat down. Attentive service in taking our order and getting us drinks. No faults Decor was amazing especially as it was Christmas time. Ordered the Meze and Tomato Garlic bread to start. Very tasty. I ordered the fillet for main. Slightly disappointing. The fillet didn’t seem too fresh when cut into. It tasted alright but couldn’t help think something was off with it, whether it was a bit old or just a bad cut. Apart from this it was a great experience.

Have been here a few times when we visit Halifax at my sisters, definitely have to book for a table as it is one of the most popular places to eat in Halifax, the food is so good, well cooked and well presented, yes there is a bit of a wait but what do you expect for such a popular place, it's not a McDonald's so please be patient, along with my main i ordered tzackziki with pita and one of the best tzackziki i have ever had and I've been to quite a few places in Greece. The total menu is excellent, we had a lovely bottle of house wine, so please give this restaurant a try.

Stop recording people on video camera!!! I have never been agreed to video recording myself while eating food provided. Feeling sorry for the staff working there and been on camera all the time.

Food great, but staff miserable, the guy who served us clearly does not want to be here, and his manner was rude, had scallops, nice but be aware the sweet potato mash comes cold which was a bit weird

Lovely food and staff. Mainly Italian with a twist of med. The interior is decked out with a mixture of classic and minimal. There's an outside area with internal heating if you prefer the Parisian feel. So nice we went back for breakfast the next day!

Food was fantastic and the steak filet ciabatta was really as good as it gets. Just be aware that it may take a little while for your food to come though as it can be a busy place and they do apparently make everything from scratch.

Food all good along with service ect,, fed up of a surcharge being put on the bill! This isn't a compulsory fee! It needs taking off and let the customer decide if the restaurant was worthy of a tip!

Went for a meal before the theatre, despite being busy we were served promptly. The food (pizzas) were amazing with friendly service.

Got recommended by a friend to take my girlfriend so I did and she absolutely loved it. Everything else was perfect too hence the five stars for everything

Outstanding quality of food. Selection of dishes available is good and the wine list well suited for the dishes on offer. Service, whilst informal, can be improved but very relaxed atmosphere and lighting. Deffo recommend if looking for a hefty portioned dinner in Halifax.

A popular Halifax restaurant. Good food in pleasant surroundings. Friendly staff. A bit on the pricy side, especially for drinks No pushchairs so not suitable for very young children.

Friday evening visit. The Sea Bass Risotto was fantastic!The Greek Salad was also a highlight. Will visit again when we next visit Halifax.

I am really surprised to see some negative comments on here, we had an amazing meal at La Luna. I had the Greek meze for starter, the chicken linguine for main, and baklava for dessert. Service was spot on and very quick, they were super helpful. My only complaint was that portion sizes were almost too big, so my dad and I couldn’t finish our mains (different stomach for dessert 😂) . Really lovely restaurant, we were there for a gig but would definitely go back if we were in Halifax again!

We've been here before and had pizzas which was good. This time we ordered one pepperoni pizza and one lasagne. I never had lasagne like that before!!! Full of meat!! Even when the waitress came to check and I told her I didn't like it! She asked me because of too much meat!!! YES TOO MUCH MEAT, couldn't taste any thing else. The pizza was ok but not like the one we had before. No discount on the bill. And no apologies. I wish I had taken some photos

Went Saturday 21st September, for lunch with my friend, the atmosphere was buzzing as there was a lady singing northern soul & Mowtown classics, the food is delicious and the staff really attentive and friendly, love it here!!!

Total disaster of an evening. Arrived at 6pm and placed our order only to wait and wait and wait and then to be told at 6.50pm that what we had ordered was not available! Nearly one hour to come back and say they didn’t have it. Ended up having to rush the meal we ended up having as had theatre tickets. It was a poor experience and wouldn’t go back

Came for a family meal. Was not deterred by the loud live music outside as we were seated inside. The waiter seating us curt. The three of us ordered just a main and a round of Colas. A burger, muscles and pizza. Problem with the bill involved me initially paying for another table. Then 12.5% service charge. £60.

Absolutely gorgeous lunch, freshly made food, good service and lovely decorated modern place, very clean too. We had italian meatballs with linguini, steak and brie ciabatta with fries and pizza. Very good value, quickly served despite it was busy. Very happy customers, thank you very much.

Consistently good. The only reason I'm scoring the food a 3 is because they've changed the menu again and removed some of my favourites.,..the chicken skewer was amazing...please bring it back

We booked a table for a family celebration for a 5th birthday celebration for 20 people The table was booked back in January for September and confirmed via phone. Booking was confirmed again in June I then received a call less than 2 weeks before the meal was due to take place and was rather rudely told that I could not come at 7pm with a large party and my booking could not be honoured.

What was going to be a trip into town, not sure of where we would end up, we found ourselves outside La Luna, this was bank holiday weekend. The 4 of us, we all had something different. They were great in letting us wait outside with drinks, until a table became available inside, my sil couldn't manage the music, it sets off her vertigo, the service was great and the food really nice. We'll definitely be back ✨

We explained we had booked months in advance and that there was no chance we would be able to find anywhere in Halifax now for 8 people before a concert. He shrugged and stared at his ipad mumbling ‘it’s not my fault’- no apology and no attempt to rectify the situation. He was more than happy to lose 8 regular and loyal customers, with no sign of an apology. I suggest putting staff on the door that have a basic understanding of customer service and general politeness. I also suggest not losing a booking for 8 people before a concert, leaving us without food all evening. We were disappointed and frustrated but your staff members lack of compassion and rude attitude has ensured we will not return.

This restaurant is absolutely superb the portions are just right the staff are very friendly and attractive. Food is excellent. Much recommended . Well worth crossing the boarder for .

Visited La Luna for a pre-show meal, as it is very close to the Halifax Piece Hall. The Westgate arcade was busy with people enjoying the various eateries on offer. We were greeted by the door on arrival and quickly shown to our table at the front of the restaurant. Our server arrived quickly and was very helpful in discussing the menu / food allergies. We felt very comfortable that they understood my wife's allergy (wheat) and helped us with the menu around this allergy. The food was excellent, including my wife's gluten free pasta dish and my chicken fajitas. Overall a great meal out, friendly helpful staff and fantastc atmosphere.

Avoid avoid avoid. Extremely rude staff. Never ever walked out of a place before ordering anything. The main guy looked his nose down at us and made us feel unwelcome. We have a 9 month old and he didn't want us there. Just taking the drinks order was enough for us to just leave.

Salmon fillet was delicious, although 3 tiny cubes of potato accompanying the dish was not enough. Mix up with the order, which resulted in me eating my main course alone. Mushroom carbonora was good.

Went again mid-June this year to try again as location is great Food was still terrible and expensive The wine prices are extortionate, roughly 5to 6 time a supermarket price Overall avoid if possible, as service is not very good, plus they try to add on 10% for a service charge. So be careful 🧐

A very fine Italian restaurant. My Gambas starter was perfectly flavoured and the pepperoni pizza that followed was one of the best I have had for a long time. Afogato to finish made it all end well. A great meal to celebrate a special event.

Fab Italian set down an arcade with both inside and outside seating. Lasagne and halloumi pasta were both lovely as were that staff and service.

I own and run my own resturant.. also I am the head chef. I can be very critical when I eat out. Food was great service was great and because of this I had zero problem with the price..I can't imagine coming back to Halifax but if I do I'll return.

We visited from out of town, this place was recommended by a work colleague, I will never listen to any more recommendations. The tastiest flavours in the food were the salt and pepper that we added, and you will.

Lovely food and being gluten intolerant, I was really pleased that there was so much choice. The only reason I'm not giving 5 star for food is that my daughter has chicken pasta, which was really stodgy and soggy. Service was awful. We were asked what we wanted literally every 2 minutes until we ordered. We felt rushed. Towards the end of our meal we were asked every couple of minutes if we had finished by every staff member. All we wanted was a relaxed meal. It got very annoying and in the end my inner Karen came out and I had to ask the server to please stop asking. We were well within our table time but they just wanted the table back asap. We won't return which is a shame, as the gluten free menu was excellent.

No prams allowed, have to change your baby on the seats where people eat. 10% Service charge is not going to the staff. Ridiculous and greedy. Breakfast is lovely, lunch is okay.

Great place for a light bite to eat

If you want a rushed meal with arrogant waiters, this is the place! It is used to be a great place to go, but it appears that popularity has gone to their heads. The menu is still good, but overpriced.

As suggested by a local shop keeper we had lunch at LaLuna. Great options for Italian dishes. They have both outdoor and indoor seating and as we didn't want to sit in the sun we opted for inside dining. Had a great view of their "green" wall, but it was located right next to the restroom door.

Bums on seats is the style here. Very rushed. Food ok. Service surly (they want you in and out as quickly as possible) No sooner got dessert and the bill os presented, along with a hefty service charge! There are better Italian style places to eat in Halifax.

They definitely made use of the space, making sure every bit of space had a table in it. It was really busy and we had to wait in a queue for about 15 to 20 minutes. Food was OK to good and price was reasonable for Manchester. Service was quick and attention to detail was amazing
