La Jawaab in Calderdale

Normally they do fantastic food and portion sizes. My favourite is the jacket potato, cheese and beans but today when I got it. All the potatoes barely had any beans and cheese on them. That oozing overflow in the container which marks it different from other takeaways wasn’t there. They felt light and as my daughter even questioned “is there any tuna in this?” It tasted very bland and dry! If they remain tight like this, it’s not worth the price or taste. Hopefully it was a one off! My food rating was for today. Otherwise normally I would give it a 5 for potato and 3 for the other options.

The cashier was on a personal phone call at the till, totally ignoring customers until he sensed frustration and finally started serving. The food was mediocre, absolutely nothing I would return for.

First impressions not good. Ordered beef steak, got served chicken steak. Also got food poisoning later on that night, very rough and bad night it was. Won’t be going back for 2nds. The guy serving it did offer good side options but didn’t tell me steak options and served me what he wanted to serve he was polite and gave me side-options but didn’t check the meat before cooking & serving. Sadly, I won’t be recommending it to anyone

Just visited it with family. Wrap, samosa chaat and a pastry (cake) are really tasty.Most importantly the staff is friendly and welcoming. 10/10 Highly recommended.

Food is real nice. The mixed grill steak with pasta or chips is lovely. The peri peri chicken topping with jacket potato is very nice. Portions are decent size. Downside is the prices are a little steep. Parking is an issue as it’s always busy. Staff are ok.

How can you get order wrong twice... not going there again

The food from here is always spot on but let's focus on their cakes for today! If you're after the lightest, tastiest, fresh cream sponge cake you've ever eaten then go get one from here! They're incredibly cheap for what you get and honestly, I don't know anyone who doesn't love them! We got this 12" and it only cost £25. You can get whatever message you want written on it and they do a big range of colours, shapes, sizes and flavours. We always thought Nafees couldn't be beaten but La Jawaab knocks them out of the park! For this price you don't even need a celebration as an excuse to you buy one, just go get it, you won't be disappointed!!

I have been a regular customer of this food place for many years and have always enjoyed their tasty food at reasonable prices. They offer a variety of options like Jacket Potatoes, Chicken Steak & Chips, Wraps, Sandwiches, and more. The staff, for the most part, are friendly and provide great service. However, one staff member can be extremely rude, which can be quite off-putting. I have experienced this firsthand, with them questioning why I was ordering at certain times and lying about the availability of tubs for sauces. It's a shame that such behavior exists as it spoils the experience of visiting this place. Despite this, I would still recommend trying their delicious food, but be aware of the rude staff member.

Me and my found this place few weeks ago so we tried gourmet burger chicken wrap to be honest worth every penny...peri chicken wrap meal so we go there once in week when we're up in that area

Cake was delicious, ohhh everyone loved it. Earlier we thought we had ordered too big of a cake but once we started having it, everyone wanted a second serving. We had a Victorian sponge. Very much Recommended. Ordered it a day before and timely delivered. Would have been awesome if they had called when it was ready, but i went there anyway and it was ready.

Outstanding food and service at reasonable prices.

I ordered 2 chicken tikka toasties and they were all mushy and soggy. No taste just pure mayonnaise all over. I actually have become ill overnight from eating it. Don't recommend.

I went to order a birthday cake and i got the guy to write the happy birthday on it then i had a look at the deserts too and my god Fly who land worms on the deserts and actually they worms on it i try to zoom them and the guy came over then i had to stop 🛑 I was discussed and shame to have 🪰 fly and worms on the desert cakes in mid February Shame on the council to leave that place open

This was the most abrupt staff u can ever meet after today's visit. I would not even give them 1 star.

Specifically told them to not put onions in my panini, guess what I found when I got home? Yep! You guessed it. Onions!

Found hair in my food and I rang and they start getting big

There is a strong smell of oil on papdi chaat (papdi) kindly use fresh and more unaromatic oils.

My kids love this place. Good selection of fillings for Jack potatoes, panini, wraps, pizzas. And of course love chicken steak and chips.

Very gud for a panini or jacket potato, i've very rarely had any problems with la jawaab and the only problems I have had is with waiting time (I could see my food was ready but they were just taking they're time even when not busy) and the potato not being cooked all the way through (very rare)

Have a good look at the cake you buy as I had mold on it took it back and complained but the said it was fresh clearly not...

If your looking for good clean delicious tasty food then this is the place. Plenty of choice and their grilled chicken burgers are great . 5 stars for the staff as well, very helpful. Had a slight misunderstanding with my order but the staff sorted it with a smile, very professional.

Not sure about their food service but I wouldnot recommend their bakery service for sure. They sell cakes (ready made ones) after its best before date, don't take the order instructions seriously and mess up with the customers request. The quality of their cakes both fresh cream n butter cream cakes have deteriorated over the recent months. To top it all, their communication over the phone and response in person is definitely not appreciated.
