No the same brilliant experience as the Galleria. Food OK but just a now normal wine bar with food. And no real atmosphere.

Stopped for lunch and very glad we did. The lady who served us was very pleasant and the food was amazing. We both had pizza and they were spot on. The base was perfect, sauce tasty and loads of cheese. Lovely to sit outside as the town is very pretty too. All reasonably priced as well for the area. Really recommend it

We have just returned to our hotel after a meal at this restaurant . After a lovely few days at the Marlborough hotel and visiting the Palace and being overwhelmed by the friendliest of staff tonight was a huge disappointment. The waitress was surly and unfriendly - no where to hang coats because of Covid- we were told to put them on the vback of our chairs . I asked for two starters , one as a main course but was told I would still be charged as a main course. The seasonal vegetables and salad were huge and could easily have been shared but the waitress did not feel fit to tell us this . We ordered house white which was not available - was this because it was cheaper ?. A bottle of white was plonked unceremoniously on the table with no wine cooler !! The food was good but there was too much of it , the atmosphere was zero and the waiter needs to up her game . Will not return and warn everyone against. Such unfriendly service !! You felt very unwelcome .

We've just returned from La Galleria, where we went for my 70th birthday treat, and I just couldn't wait to give them a review. We had roast rack of lamb with a rosemary and red wine sauce and medallions of beef fillet in a cream, brandy and mushroom sauce. We each had some of each dish, and agreed that both were exceptionally tender and delicious. The ingredients were obviously very good quality and were cooked to perfection. We both had Pannacotta with Forest Berries Coulis for dessert. We love this dessert and I'm a self-confessed addict, so have it whenever I see it on the menu, here and abroad, but this one has to be the best ever. The pannacotta was soft and creamy, melting in the mouth, and the sauce was just bursting with wonderful berry flavours. My tongue is still tingling at the thought of that.

A long looked forward to visit with family who love this restaurant. It didn't disappoint. Warm welcome. Friendly staff and an extensive menu packed full of choice alongside a 'Specials Board' which changes on a daily basis. The food, which was delicious across all three courses was complimented by an interesting wine selection at prices to suit every pocket. Although it was a Saturday night and very busy, we were not rushed at any point in our stay. Cannot wait to return next time we visit this lovely part of the world.

In all honesty just awful. The man working was receptive to the criticism and didn't, in fairness to him, charge us for the food. The place is very dated both in concept and decor. Really poorly cooked food at quite frankly an extortionate price. Couldn’t recommend less. Couldn’t fault the service, unfortunate what they were serving!

We recently spent a lovely evening in this delightful Italian restaurant. There was a splendid choice from the menu and, in addition, some specials. Our meal was well presented, but more importantly, cooked to perfection! I chose asparagus with parma ham followed by venison with juniper berries, and my husband chose goats cheese followed by beef medallions, both equally excellent. There was a warm atmosphere and service was slick and well organised. One not to be missed!

Fettuccini special starter with a truffle and cream sauce very nice indeed and beautiful calamari lightly battered. Beef medallions in brandy sauce cooked perfectly…. And my partner had the chicken wrapped in bacon which was very tasty too. Really pleasant & cosy restaurant with superb service . Highly recommended and I will certainly return on my next visit to Woodstock !

Yesterday six of us visited to celebrate a neighbours belated birthday and had an excellent meal. Two of us had the set lunch for £14.95 and it was amazing value, how the owner can make a profit with that price I'll never know. My starter was Fettuccine alla Bolognaise and the portion was large enough for a main course. For a main one of the specials was Hake with a mixture of vegetables. We also had a carafe of wine (one red and one white) between the six of us. It was a great lunch.

My wife and I opted for the set lunch. The 3 course menu at £14.99 represented excellent value for money with 5/6 choices for each course. My wife chose the melon and parma ham followed by the chicken. Large portions of each and very tasty. I had the fish soup, and for an extra £5 had venison steak for my main course. Both very good portions and well cooked. A large selection of vegetables was included (great zucchini) and a selection of bread. We both had Tiramisu - probably the best we have ever had. Service was very friendly and efficient with a knowledgeable waiter.

We’ve dined at La Galleria a few times, but it’s been quite a while since our last visit, so we booked lunch following a walk around Blenheim Palace. My wife (who is Italian) and I almost never eat in Italian restaurants in the UK, certainly never in the chains. When we lived in Poole, we were spoilt with the luxury of two fine options, the small family-run Da Vinci’s on the old quay and another modern one overlooking the Marina, both very different but both with great food and fantastic friendly service, so finding one we loved in this area was great. The Galleria reviews range considerably, and whether good or poor, there are a couple of recurring themes – the tired décor, which definitely does need updating, and the waiter. As is always the case on our visits, the gregarious owner, Lucio always comes over for a friendly chat, and if you speak Italian, it’s like talking to an old friend. The waitress was also very nice and really friendly, but whilst the waiter was polite, as others have said about him (and I can’t say it’s the same one), he really doesn’t exude the demeanour you expect of someone dealing with customers, and especially the conviviality Italians are famed for. Of course, some customers treat people in service roles as servants, but if you treat them well, they respond in kind, so maybe he suffered some bad customers but he nevertheless needs to lighten up. We all chose from the 3-course set Sunday lunch at £23.95. My daughter and I had the mushroom ravioli, nice and thin but still with some bite, with a lovely pecorino sardo sauce, whilst my wife had the avocado, crabmeat, smoked salmon & prawns, which looked beautiful and tasted fresh and light. My daughter had the Parmigiana Melanzane (basically baked aubergine and courgette with tomato sauce and mozzarella) as a main and will only have it from two places, either mine (taught to me by my wife’s Napolitan father) or La Galleria. My wife’s sea bass fillets were big, which meant I had to help eat them, and cooked perfectly and the pistachio gratin crumb really added something. Regardless of what side dishes come with our meals, we always have a big portion of the zucchini fritti as an extra. It should be impossible to ruin a steak, but many places manage to find a way, but as expected, mine was tasty and tender. To finish, they both had the creamy light and tasty tiramisu, whilst I tried the Limoncello mousse cake, a soft cheesecake-like dessert with what tasted like ginger and honey, which was sharp and refreshing. Now we are starting to get back to some normality, it won’t be too long before we return.

Hi, I think it’s only fair to offer a fair and objective review of the restaurant. After reading the many reviews we booked for dinner and whilst on initial inspection ( though tired and dated) we decided to continue with our booking. Now let’s be honest, it’s dated, circa 1980,S but honest and “family value orientated” but I must continue. The menu looks refreshing, original, and most definitely not from a countrywide chain, which is its lustre, but if they could only deliver on what they offer it would be fantastic. Cutting to the chase, it’s dated, poor and to be honest a great shame as it could and should be so much better. When people spend their hard earned money they expect the service provider to deliver, so guys, pull your socks up and honour your heritage. ….. oh and by the way, don’t get complicated when you are brought to task.

a minute agoNEWFood was good but the waiter that served us ruined our experience. He was extremely rude. Not only to us but he was also extremely rude in front of us to one of his female colleagues. She tried to take our order because he was taking too long and he barked at her that it was his job to do that and stopped her from taking the food order. He continued to be unpleasant throughout our meal. We were there for lunch today around 1.30 to 3pm . I hope the owner of the restaurant takes note of this review and speaks to this waiter about his arrogant, rude, disrespectful and unprofessional attitude. The young woman who did try to take our order was lovely and very professional even after he barked at her. The restaurant is nicely presented if a little dated. There was one waiter for all the tables which clearly was not enough on occasions but overall he coped well. Fresh squid was chosen as a starter which was disappointingly obviously frozen, tough and tasteless . We spoke to the waiter who agreed and offered a replacement dish. Lamb cutlets were selected for the main course which were excellent.

Love Italian restaurants, usually lovely Italian staff is the highlight, however not the case tonight. Booked a table for 8,45 and was told by a very unfriendly waiter/owner who looked very irritated that we had just arrived and abruptly told us at 8.50 - you need to order as it’s last orders at 9.00! He made us feel so uncomfortable the whole night! I felt sorry for the other staff - I think he was the owner or the son of the owner as he wasn’t that old! ? The other staff were lovely - I felt so sorry for them. On every table around us the customers seemed to get a limoncello at the end of the meal - not us?? He seemed to take a dislike to me and my mum? The food was lovely - however we would not return! The other staff don’t deserve to work with such an arrogate man - they didn’t seem happy at all! Such a shame!

We visited as you can’t really go wrong with Italian... simple food with good quality ingredients. Sadly this was definitely not the case here. Poor quality ingredients, overcooked vegetables and very limited vegetarian options. Again, no risotto. I wonder if they ever have time to make it... On the plus side, the staff were attentive and friendly and we had a great bottle of wine. The prices are definitely too high for the quality of food on offer.

When you visit and want to dine in a new area you look at the Restaurants website. For this establishment the photos must have been years old and not what we confronted on entering. Worn carpet, drab and outdated interior and an uninspiring atmosphere. The food was average at best and couldn’t wait to leave. There seems to be an emphasis on tables outside rather than inside portraying it more as a cafe than a restaurant. I couldn’t see the reference to an Italian Restaurant as there wasn’t much reference to Italian food, even the Risotto was not available. Disappointing and would not contemplate visiting there again.

Arrived on time only to find the door locked, someone came out and advised the restaurant was closed on Mondays. I later found out that the booking was made through 'Table Agent' from a link on the website. If the restaurant is going to use a booking agent they need to regularly check their bookings and if they find an error contact the customer to advise of the situation. Due to the Covid restrictions, we had some difficulty finding an alternative and a nice surprise for my partner was ruined.Table Agent still show the restaurant open 12.00 to 21.00 on Mondays.

We were meeting family who we hadn’t seen for a while and enjoyed a laugh and a joke. Halfway through the evening the waiter approached our table and asked if we could keep the noise down!! Having not realised that just laughing was offending people we duly obliged much to my disapproval. I would have thought a good atmosphere would add the the ambiance of a restaurant. On the plus side at least we won’t waste our money going there again. A great place to visit if you would like to enjoy your food in silence and morgue like conditions. Food as stated was reasonable, over priced for what was served. A shame really as the village is lovely and would warrant a decent Italian restaurant.

We should have left there and then but stayed for a main course (which we enjoyed) but then left to find a more convivial environment to spend the rest of the evening. The owner and staff must make an effort to put a smile on their faces and learn that they’re not doing a favour for their customers and appreciate that during these difficult times people are still willing to visit their restaurant. Absolutely shockingly bad place. One of the waiters started by giving me attitude for standing where we were told to wait for our table because "I was in his way and I should know better about social distancing". I reacted by suggesting he only need ask for me to move without the disgraceful behaviour and that I am a customer so perhaps he might want to consider a politer tone next time ! I called him out on it in front of others and I calmed down and thought that was that the end of it all as you could see he realised he had probably overstepped the mark. We then waited 40 mins for our starters (we were I must add waited on by a lovely lady who you could tell was highly embarrassed and wanted to help as much as she could. She was the most amazing thing about the night and I felt sorry for her working with this cretin. Alas it all went downhill again. My wife ordered crab linguine, I wretched at my first taster. The crab was not good, 100% not fresh at all and verging on off. We didn't complain to be fair and perhaps should have (in the interest of being transparent on our review). My wife did eat some of it to be polite. The pasta I had was actually okay - nothing special for the £10 price tag (starter)The mains again my poor wife had seabass which was so off it was almost back on again. She barely ate it and we spent 10 mins trying to complain but the owner was too busy. We just asked for the bill and then had the old fiasco with card payments with my best mate from the way in. His attitude was unbelievable to the point I was happy to walk out there and then without paying a penny. Tried to blame my wife's card for not working (amex). She politely asked if he could try again and he stormed off waving his arms about muttering. He came back and demanded another card. I said that we had already had a run in on the way in and perhaps he wanted to consider the manner he spoke to people (again) or consider a career outside of hospitality. His retort "I'm busy and you were in my way. I'm fine, your card doesn't work". My card went through and he slammed it back down saying "see i told you it was HER card"£90 for the most horrible experience ever. Horrible service, terribly unfresh fish. And absolute moron waiter who thinks he can talk to people like crap. Please avoid. Places like this don't deserve to trade.

However once seated we were disappointed by the small menu, less than 8 dishes, and the sharing risotto dishes were not available. We chose spaghetti bolognese x2 and plain pasta for my 10 year old. Both dishes were fine but nothing special. When the bill arrived we were amazed that we had been charged £11.95 for each pasta dish including the plain spaghetti with only oil! The waiter when questioned was not interested and said that was the price for pasta. We felt that they were happy for us to be in and out and they offered no chat with us at all. The main course came with a selection of vegetables: saute potatoes, carrots, beans, broccoli, cabbage and super zucchini.Again the portions were large, so much so that we opted for coffee instead of a dessert. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional and as a really nice touch presented my wife with gift of panettone as we were leaving.

My wife, son, daughter in law, grandchildren and I visited La Galleria for lunch last week. The quality of the food was very good indeed and the lunch menu was varied and represented good value for money. The service was good and the waiting staff were excellent with the children. The tables were a little too close together, especially with two young children, buggy, etc. However, we enjoyed the meal.Unfortunately, the restaurant does not have a car park and convenient parking is extremely difficult to find. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Our recent meal at La Galleria was very good and I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Woodstock, as we were. The restaurant is traditional, very clean and very pleasant with attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Our food was well presented and very tasty. The negative was the price - we have enjoyed many equivalent meals at similar Italian restaurants and we felt this was expensive compared with other establishments.Overall though we would certainly visit La Galleria again as the quality of the food and wine was good.

First thing can I clear up. The bread is NOT mouldy it’s olive bread that was very tasty. We booked this as staying in Woodstock & we were really happy with the choice. It was busy for a Sunday so please book. There is a very good range of Italian food and along with the bread I ended up with the lovely steak cutlets. The steak was cooked very well and the meat good quality. The menu is very varied. Service was good though the boys were very busy. I’ve seen the comments over the look - but to tell the truth didn’t effect from a good meal at good value and probably adds to the charm of the place.

we booked a table during the Bank holiday weekend, as the Woodstock festival was going on. We sat outside on one of the hottest days of the year, and service was quick and attentive. The food was wonderful, proper Italian food a proper Italian in Woodstock, thoroughly recommend a visit.

Fantastic place, I would recommend for anyone to go there if they want great Italian food. The owner is very friendly and very welcoming, going around and saying hello to everyone. The restaurant is very clean and very formal. Everything is very well presented (menu, food, building, etc.). The service was very good and the food was amazing. Great Italian experience. Suitable for anyone for any occasion. Warning, this Italian does not serve pizza.

Everything is cooked fresh and so patience is important, but atmosphere in the restaurant meant this was not a problem to us. Cosy room felt buzzy and it appeared to contain regulars and therefore largely content people. The food was good without being fancy but unquestionably authentic. The staff did on occasion act a little frenzied but were always keeping us posted on progress and smiling. The chef/owner came out to get feedback, which is always good. Overall I would recommend a visit - but be patient it will be worth it !

Visited with a group of friends for dinner. We walked out whilst trying to order - the staff were so rude shouting at us when we wanted to order something actually listed on the menu which the chef couldn’t make for whatever reason. Even the chef stuck his head out of the kitchen and yelled. Horrible experience and dreadful customer service. No one should stand for that. We didn’t and none of our group will be going there again.

We ate dinner here midweek. There’s quite some competition in Woodstock considering it’s such a small place, and this restaurant holds its own, so don’t understand poor reviews. Our dinner was lovely. I’d recommend all of the menu, but particularly the scallops. Not particularly cheap, but quality of food and service meant we got what we paid for, so not bad value. Would definitely go back, and would recommend.

Please ignore the 1980 decor as the food and wine are great. I come to Woodstock regularly and was looking for a change. I have walked past on numerous occasions and dismissed it because of the decor. This was a mistake as the food is great I shall be back

Woodstock is well served by restaurants but most are pretty standard. La Galleria stands out as quality and markedly better than the competition (the Feathers is best of the rest). I can see there are one or two poor reviews, which I am shocked at as the food here is consistently excellent in my experience. The old fashioned decor is (understandably!) not to everyone's taste, but the old fashioned top notch traditional Italian food, should be. The starters of fresh asparagus with cheese and parma ham, and the calamari were excellent. My partner's pasta and my fillet steak in shallot sauce main courses were also top drawer. We then had no room for dessert. If you're struggling to decide where to eat in Woodstock I would recommend La Galleria.

Right in the centre of Woodstock this is a real find. Beautiful linen, excellent service and fantastic cooking by the Sardinian chef. Loved the Sardinian pasta with sausage and the chicken stuffed with sage and wrapped in bacon with a lemon sauce. The halibut was good too. All genuine Italian food, no pizzas! We ate here twice and would have made it 3 if they didn’t close on Mondays!

Wow that is about the worst meal we have had. Where do you start?....decor 90's, plants everywhere awful, pictures a touch weird. The service was fine but basically it was almost empty. Music not working properly so deathly quiet. Wi-Fi issues. No rack of lamb - sold out. So ordered eggplant parmegano and avocado & prawn salad for starters followed by monkfish with saffron and veal escalope with cheese/ham.

It was a damp day in Woodstock and we were looking for a quiet place to eat. La Galleria proved the perfect setting and we ate a delicious lunch: chicken liver pate and fish soup for starters, with sea bass and lasagne for our main course. The service was attentive, we didn't have to wait long, and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The background jazz guitar music was just loud enough to appreciate but never intrusive, and we lingered for as long as we wanted. It was a memorable meal and we enjoyed our experience there.

We booked the place after reading the reviews on TA but the experience is very disappointing. The place is next to Brothertons Brassiere. We tried to get into Brothertons but it was full with an hour waiting time. So we booked La Galleria instead. We were quite shocked to see that this restaurant was virtually empty while next door is so full and lively. The menu looked reasonable so we decided to give it a try. The food price is high, average £9 for starters and £20 for mains. However the cooking is really poor. Fish soup was very liquid with nothing solid in it. Cuttlefish tasted really strange with strong smell. The crab linguine is bland and watery with very little crab in it. The worst was the “Hake”, which came with skin full of scales. When we complaint to the waitress, she told us that it is meant to like this! The fish didn’t look or taste like Hake at all, but more like a sea bass fillet, which is a much cheaper fish! We seriously doubted how they got such good rating in TA.

Awful awful place. Came in for the first time to grab a quick coffee before meeting some friends in Witney. Young man served me and was extremely rude and Impatient with me. Made me feel quite uncomfortable and rushed. Slammed my coffee down and when I ask for some extra milk on the side he let out a sigh and gave me a really angry look. Not the best service at all. I just couldn’t believe it, he was just so unnecessarily rude. While drinking my coffee a young blonde girl with baggy trousers was clearing a table next to me. I politely asked her who the young man was serving and she told me that he was called George. Maybe George was having a bad day and I take that into consideration absolutely but there’s no need whatsoever to speak and treat your customers so rudely. Very disappointed and certainly won’t be coming back!

Cannot recommend Paddy and the Cotswold Pizza Company enough. Having explored many options for the evening food at our wedding just outside Gloucester, Paddy stood out with glowing reviews on several platforms - having worked with him I see why! He was always available to answer questions over the phone and emails and even took time out of his weekend to visit the venue with us a few weeks before the wedding. The pizzas were very reasonably priced and on the night were a hit, with everyone was raving about them the following day. Thank you so much to Paddy and the team for contributing to a stress-free planning process and wonderful day!
