This morning I bought a loaf of white sourdough bread. Came back home for lunch to discover that the loaf is at least 3 days old.(Sourdough has a shelf life of 5 to 7 days). Came back to the shop after one hour to bring them back the old loaf and they insisted (rudely) that was freshly baked this morning. After 5 minute of discussion trying to explain that the bread is clearly old (the crust is softer than the inside!) the lady that served my said (but, at least, is the taste good?), ?!?!? I didn't came back to ask my money back (which considering the price of the loaf 6£ would have been good!) but after waiting the line in the cold to buy a 6£ loaf, go home and find out that is not fresh, go back to complain in the cold, the least you can expect is a bit of understanding! RUDE STAFF, PRODUCT NOT FRESH, you can find better fresh bread anywhere else, avoid!

Myself and a friend wanted to buy a birthday gift so went to this shop due to the range of cheese. Upon entering the shop we greeted the man behind the counter who ignored us which we found strange as the shop is so tiny and there was only us in the store. We then entered the cheese section of the shop where the lady behind the counter was very friendly and professional. We selected our cheeses and paid her. Then when trying to leave the shop the man behind the counter (I’m assuming the manger) shouted at my male friend that he could not leave as he had not paid. I will not be returning to this store and can’t help but think if my friend was white male dressed who dressed and talked like the gentleman behind the counter, I wouldn’t be writing this review.

Live local to here so often want to treat ourselves to some nice cheese and antipasti and La Fromagerie has a big selection if thats what you are after. However, 2 slices of cheddar and 3 small tomatoes totalled £10!!! Will not be going back unless it is a very special occasion as this is so expensive for things which you can get from a supermarket for a fraction of the price.

This is my local, I often stop by for my breakfast , the coffee is wonderful , the boiled eggs on toast with perfect bread is a lovely start to the day. It’s also perfect for a croissant and quick meeting , it’s small only seats 6 but Perfect. Cheese shopping experience equally fab.

Lovely deli with a fantastic selection of cheese but beware the battle axe who runs the shop. Slightly expensive but it is a premium product they are selling. For cheese, I prefer Paxton in Jermyn Street, Mayfair because they also have an excellent range of quality cheeses and the staff seem kinder and more friendly.

We have lived in Highbury former than 30 years and value the independent shops and restaurants in the area. La Fromagerie as fine cheese shop has been around for a long time and after my recent 3 months in hospital it seemed a good idea to try their newish coffee shop addition to the cheese shop as part of my recovery. My experience in the past purchasing cheese rather than schlepping to Covent Garden or Jermyn street was that La Fromagerie sell great products but were let down by the surly man who runs the shop. However, I hoped that we could get a good cup of coffee and went in. First we were ignored although it was empty, then when we asked if we could sit and have coffee we were told that they were closing in half an hour - hardly welcoming, but we sat down. We ordered a latte and I ordered a black americano and whilst the barista was making the coffee he was told by the owner that he was making it wrong, despite that I was served with a 'dead coffee' with no crema. both coffees were very poor and we left disappointed. So if you want a warm welcome, good service and a good coffee don't go to La Fromagerie, we will be going back to the Highness cafe and tearoom opposite.

La Fromagerie at Highbury Barn is a shop, but no ordinary shop, more a magic cornucopia, a seduction of the highest quality tastiest morsels, and that before you even enter the cheese room.

Piccola caffetteria dallo stile francese, pochi tavoli ma ottima qualità. E' possibile consumare lì o portare via. E' anche una panetteria e pasticceria. Adatta quindi per colazioni ma anche per comprare prodotti da forno per tutta la giornata! Lo consiglio!

This is a beautiful place in a beautiful location, with good bread, pastries and patisseries on offer and, most importantly, excellent cheese - kept perfectly in an atmospherically controlled, glass-doored room in the back. All of this is enough to frequent the establishment with enthusiasm. However, my experience of being welcomed and served was of what seemed to be an odd superciliousness that kept reappearing in spite of efforts to be pleasant (and also an open reprimand to a person who appeared to be a member of staff for something that seemed to be a very minor issue). The three stars given in this review are for the location, decor and products available for sale.

Small but friendly! Lots of home-made soup, quiche, sausage rolls, charcuterie board etc...plus a vast choice of cheeses! And cakes and confectionery of course! Then you proceed into the cheese room behind the caff...an amazing array of cheeses with an expert to explain them and letting you taste whatever takes your fancy. There is also a selection of charcuterie sliced to order.Wine by the glass or bottle, very good coffee. In other words..lots of very tasty bits and pieces...oh,I forgot,,they do smoked salmon and Portuguese sardines too!

If you love cheese or really good coffee, this is the place to go. It's a small place, so not much seating, but it's great for a coffee, brunch and a paper.

Regularly visitor here for bread (which is fresh everyday / around £2 ish a loaf). Great selection of cheese and other fresh produce - real foodie paradise. Be warned, some of the prices aren't for the faint hearted / but fairly average for a bourgeois London store. Customer service can be a bit hit and miss too!

Not a part of London I have visited before. Fairly close to the Arsenal Football Club. The area has a village atmosphere, with in dependent food stores, and a decent looking pub. La Fromagerie is little sister to their place in Marylebone. The same selection of deli products and an amazing collection of cheeses from across Europe. Perfectly soft boiled eggs with soldiers, and excellent coffee made for a perfect breakfast.

Food looks somewhat better than it is and it's a little over-priced. Some of their cakes are really good but the range of savoury items is limited. In fairness this place majors on selling cheese, cakes and deli type fare for taking out - not really an eatery - but it looked quaint and interesting ...... all-in-all a little disappointing.

This delicatessen looked unique and olde world from the outside so I was surprised to find out that it is part of a small chain. It is rustic and enticing with a separate closed room full of cheese. The smell of cheese pervades the whole shop however. It is a pleasant place (except for the cheese fragrance) to have a cup of coffee and excellent cooked breakfast. The Portugese custard tarts are particularly recommended. Afterwards you can purchase various meats and products from Europe although it is quite expensive. Overall worth visiting if you are in Highbury Park

People come from far and wide to go La Fromagerie and that's hardly surprising as their selection and knowledge is spot on. They also have an assortment of cakes and pastries which they serve with coffee, but unless you are used to the smell of cheese with your chocolate brownie, it can be a little off putting. The brownies are however, delicious.

This is a lovely little deli style shop serving meats, cheese, veg and wine and then every now and then they do a tasting evening. My boyfriend brought me a cheese fondue evening as a Christmas present and it was superb. We were greeted with nibbles such as mini cheese scones and champagne. The alcohol was free flowing and the main courses were excellent. You sat on one large table that made for a social evening. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
