La Dolce Vita in Dumfries & Galloway

We were on a two day break in Dumfries & selected 'La Dolce Vita' from those listed on Tripadvisor and very pleased we did ! Immediately upon entering the vibes were good, plenty of happy diners tucking into lovely looking meals in an attractive restaurant with no overbearing music. Our meals were delicious & plentiful, indeed my seafood spaghetti being the best I've ever had, my wife said likewise about her crème brulé. Great service by friendly staff. Easy to find, nearby parking & well worth a visit but booking advisable.

I wonder why AI going to take over us. I found the answer in this restaurant. Every single staff working in this place are totally confused and have no idea what they are doing. We ordered one large pizza to share and explained three times to the lady what type of pizza we want to eat but she came up with two large pizzas and wrong toppings ending us paying a large bill 😡. We also witnessed the waitress dropped the pizza on top of the client while serving food to the table next to us. The story didn’t finish here when they clearing the table they were careless, dropping forks and spoons on those customers 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😡. Very very bad experience.

I went into this beautiful restaurant for a meal before i headed home and a young girl who i believe was called Torrie served me and had the best customer service in the whole establishment. Really great seeing these young teens working and being polite towards everyone x

Walked in and waited in "The Vault" for our table! It's an old bank and has loads of character. Shown to our table and 3 of us ordered the Midweek Madness deal. Had a large focaccia to share between us, then a pasta dish each, and this included a glass of wine, bottle of beer or soft drink. £14.50 each. Absolute bargain!!!! The portions were really generous and all the staff were lovely. Food was delicious! If I am ever in the area again, I will certainly pay this place a visit. It's really really good!!!!!

We were greeted by staff to be told that nothing was reserved when I had phoned earlier on in the day & had it confirmed by one of the staff. They were accommodating & made up a table for us in the middle of the restaurant where everyone was passing us. We were giving the menu - but no specials. Like last review, it felt rushed & when food was brought, staff did not check up on how things were or if we required anything else during starter & main. The pasta was not upto its usual standard & the steak - the presentation of it was poor. The steak itself looked dry & not succulent as if it was from the freezer & would not have paid £29 if I knew that’s what came. I have visited here previously & it’s been great, but this visit was very poor.

We were really disappointed with the food and service last night. The food was not up to the usual high standard and the service felt rushed and offhand and there was a tremendous banging, clattering and clearing away. Despite the restaurant claiming to be open until ‘late’ it was obvious the staff were aiming for a 9 pm finish. What a shame

Food always good but unfortunately once again we felt rushed and I particularly took exception to tables being moved around getting ready give the next day while we were still eating - thus was 9.30 pm so I don’t think we’d outstayed our welcome. Similar happened last couple of times too which is unfortunate but would like to stress that the food is delicious. Plates away minute cutlery was down and next course arrived so ideal if you want a quick in and out but not for a leisurely dinner

We had seafood pizza and biscoff cheesecake - both excellent. The service was very efficient and the meal was good value for money.

What an absolute gem. Tucked away in the town, we stumbled across it by chance. Excellent food and service. I had pate and my husband had calamari. Followed by chicken in a cream sauce with boulanger potatoes and half pizza, plus a calazonne. Very reasonably priced too.

We visited for lunch while visiting Dumfries. I would recommend booking as it was extremely busy. The restaurant shuts for 2 hours from 3pm We were instantly seated. Given a large jug of water & a great lunch time set menu. My partner order the biggest antipasti, I got the garlic bread & our daughter ordered the kids pizza, she could choose her own topping. We couldn’t believe the size of the pizza & garlic bread when the arrived, unreal. The restaurant uses a massive stone pizza oven, that seems to be used for most dishes tbh. My partner’s seabass was also cooked in there as well. I got the chicken pasta, it was caramelised from the taste of it, it was really nice. No room for desserts We order a carafe of wine £16 & a j20 as well. Because of added supplements on the menu the bill came to £63 Worth every penny!! We went here for the first time after hearing some mixed views about the place, first off we were sat in a very cold room for our meal which took the enjoyment out of arriving to a place where we have not frequented before. Anyway onto the food, wife had the pate which she said was just ok, came in a small glass container which she thought the pate was hard to get out, I had the chefs special scallop starter which was beautiful, can’t fault it. We both had pizzas for mains which were both very good and very large, side of onion rings which were delicious. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Can’t comment on deserts as we were full after 2 courses as portions are good. £46 for 2 courses each and 2 coca colas. We shall return to try different things on menu but maybe when it’s a bit warmer outside!

Came with my partner unsure of what to expect. Firstly it was so difficult to choose what to eat because the menu is so beautiful and had a wide range of fish, meat, pizza and pasta. I decided to have the veal but was unsure of the cut. Adam, the owner then offered me a rib eye of veal which couldn’t have been more what I wanted. Adam and Naomi the chef both catered this for me offering me it cooked rare. Everything was absolutely beautiful start to finish and the service was fantastic. Great food and super comfortable environment.

Lovely food, great staff. God selection on menu and I am sure, despite the fact au only ate one item from mains and desserts, that all the food is excellent. I had the grilled sea bass followed by a most delicious panda cotta.

I had a great meal here on Wednesday night with my family. I had to change the booking twice and this was dealt with by one of the wait staff, and then by Adam. Both were really friendly and could not have been more helpful. The meal itself was absolutely delicious and I have already booked to go back.

Fantastic meal, that's how I'd start this review. We were greeted by a young lady and seated very quickly. We opted for their 3 course 3 drink each, menu. £27.50ppWe both opted for the garlic Prawns starters, which were plentiful in an extremely tasty broth.To wash it down, two glasses of prosecco. The mains, especially the filet steak were cooked and presented brilliantly. My partner had the salmon,and again, this was cooked perfectly. Two more glasses of prosecco, then onto desert. I cannot say this any stronger, but these deserts of profiteroles and coconut ice-cream were off the scale.Two more prosecco, followed by coffee. The whole meal from start to finish was superb. We would drive from Glasgow again just to visit this establishment. Well done La Dolce Vita. Total bill £57..outstanding value.

Pizza and pastas are good. However, steaks and risotto a bit hit or miss. So it depends what you expect want to eat whether I’d recommend this place or not. Midweek Madness menu good value for money.

We were in Dumfries for a couple of nights and managed to book a table at La Dolce Vita.From the time we arrived until the moment we left everything was excellent.Friendly staff excellent food and a pleasant atomosphere. We got the feeling this was a local's favourite and it was not hard to see why. The following night my wife wanted to eat there again. I could find no reason to argue and it was equally as good. Hopefully we will get back to the area in Autumn and wild horses (and Galloway Forest Goats) will not keep us away.

Lovely meal here you wont be disappointed although hubby and friend got risotto not cooked enough for them but everything else we had was lovely.

We were recommended this restaurant by our B&B host. The place was packed on a Wednesday night. We had the set menu, and it was excellent cooking and a good portion - you won't get this from any of the chains. We paid for an interesting and excellent bottle of Rumanian wine and had a bottle of sparkling water as part of the set menu which included food and a drink.Adam, front of house, is the owner with his wife, supported by a very helpful team.

Stopping off in Dumfries earlier this month en route to visit family, our hotelier recommended this lovely restaurant. I ordered the lasagne and have to say this is possibly the best lasagne I have ever had! Well done to the chef and good luck to everyone at La Dolce Vita. Hopefully you’ll survive the COVID 19 outbreak and be open when we next pass through Dumfries.

Under these worrying times we agreed that we would continue to support our local restaurants. Therefore we had a carry in from Dolce vita. It arrived on time and was delicious. What a fantastic lunch. Came with a friend as a totally random visit. Just walking in I could smell the food and it was glorious. Welcomed by very nice waitress and given menu. Genuinely was surprised by the menu which was just a tenner for two courses (£11.95 for three courses). Service and food was fantastic and, even though my friend and I were the last to leave as we’d arrived really late weren’t pressured to leave. I really can’t believe I’ve been missing out for so long. A definite re visit in the near future!

Visited this restaurant numerous times with group of 19/20 work colleagues from Scotland, England and Ireland. We always receive great service from the team here and Adam always makes sure we have something different on the menu each time. The food is very very good. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. We also called at their new Tapas Bar - The Bank - for a drink afterwards- Lovely!

Both were very nice indeed and the portions were generous, which is always a plus!No room for dessert, but for two mains and two drinks it was £25 which is very competitive pricing. My wife and I dined here For the first time on Sunday Feb 2nd. We were looking for a meal before going on to the Big Burns supper event in Dumfries. From the warm welcome upon entering the restaurant, efficient and friendly service, lovely food and wine we were impressed throughout.The restaurant in an old bank building has a nice atmosphere, plenty of space between tables and is centrally located. The various menus offer plenty of choice matched by a well chosen wine list.We couldn’t fault anything and were very impressed, we will certainly be back.

From Glasgow I booked for a party of 14. Adam was fantastic and during booking matched all our requests and on the night the food and service was first class - Great value. Dumfries has indeed got a very good value restaurant.
