We took my mum for her 80th birthday and can’t thank everyone at la Divina enough for their fantastic food , service and atmosphere we truly had a great evening the staff went above and beyond to make our evening can highly recommend, the food was amazing will be returning very soon , thanks again guys

Absolutely delicious food. The carbonara was rich with good chunks of meat. Portions were good. Pizza garlic bread starter was tasty, the dough was the highlight more than the sauce but no complaints. the Pollo pasta my mum had was equally rich, much more flavourful than I would have expected. the pannacotta was lovely and creamy, the caramel cinnamon topping was delicious. Apparently the chocolate cake and brownie were amazing too and I was hearing rave reviews for the coffee. Staff were very kind and professional. The atmosphere was lovely. I already want to go back

Noticed the festive menu was more expensive than ordering the individual dishes from the a la carte menu. Asked the waiter “is it cheaper to get the festive menu?” He said no, which seemed very honest but a bit confusing. Then the bill came at the end and he had put the festive menu on. Asked him to remove it and he did so straight away without questioning it (making it seem like he was trying to get away with it). New bill came back £10 cheaper. Starters were tasty (garlic bread with mozzarella, meatballs, and aubergine Milanese). Carbonara was tasty but we asked if it was the traditional recipe or made with the cream sauce. Waiter said traditional but it was cream sauce. Atmosphere was lively and the decor was cool.

Came in for my birthday meal. The food was wonderful especially my main meal which was recommended by one of the staff! Cocktails were the best I’ve had in a while along with food overall would definitely recommend and will visit again :)

Main reason chose this place was only one still serving food past 1030pm! Having said that, young ladies serving all very polite and friendly and service was excellent. Food arrived very fast. Very pleasant ambience and pretty busy even at 11 pm! I had a pizza and my date, salmon and although wasn't spectacular it wasn't bad at all. We had absolutely fantastic Xmas Lunch at this place, it was my first time and we had it recommended by a regular. We had fantastic starters, mains as well as desert and everything was so fresh and simply outstanding!! Shout out to Utkass and Victoria, they were supper attentive, very welcoming, and super friendly with great attitude and work ethics!! The place is clean and cosy with amazing decoration! We also have this wonderful italian wine which I highly recommend only 34£ for this award winning red wine!! Thank you team, keep it going!!!

Decent food, but nothing incredible. Price was okay for the neighbourhood. Service was great, all the waiters and waitresses were very nice and helpful. Ambiance was disastrous though, the restaurant in itself was lovely but it is way too crowded, the tables are very close to each other, and we literally couldn't hear each other speak over all the noise. Not the restaurant's fault but rather that of the patrons that kept yelling; still, if you're looking for a romantic or even just a calm night out, definitely wouldn't recommend as it gets really busy and extremely loud.

I’m gluten free and find it hard to eat out but they had a lovley homemade bolognese which was gluten free!! Such a lovley place with lovley staff but I’d recommend booking as it was completely full.

Wonderful food and a really good services

ordered the kids pizza meal, pizza came cold the cheese was half of the pizza and it was the smallest thing ever they called it a meal it came with a small carton of apple juice. wouldn’t ever purchase this again not worth the money and my child is still starving.

While the food is OK here, it's the service and atmosphere that really stood out. The stuff are just exceptional and we really loved spending our Sunday afternoon here.

We decided to give another chance to this restaurant after few years break. Sadly nothing has changed, the food is tasteless,bland,unimaginative = complete disappointment. Two visits within few years with zero improvement are enough to never go back. It’s a shame because the service is good and restaurant is cute and cosy. EDIT: Thanks for your reply. “They do the best calamari that I’ve ever tried.” - my six year old son. Chill spot, good prices, great food options for a wide range of palates, fantastic option for a whole family gathering.

My friend was running late, so I called the restaurant and they couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. We had to rush as we had less than an hour before we needed to be at the theatre but our order was taken and food delivered promptly. It was delicious as was the wine. We were also given the Vespa table! Will definitely return.

A lovely & cosy place for authentic family style Italian dishes. We were particularly happy with their special lunch offer which we consider to be excellent value. Service was also very good. It was all smiles throughout our whole time there. I particularly like their stuffed mushrooms. Ravioli was delicious, so was their home-made panne cotta.

Staff were super polite and attentive. Food was served in good time also.

We popped in for a quick pizza for my little one. We had a kids meal deal, pizza, a small glass of juice and a small scoop of ice cream, and myself a bottled sparkling water. I spent £14.85 including service charge, as well. I would have not paid for service charge as I was trying to get the ice cream, the bill looking for the waitresses, and eventually I have not received the bill, but I was asked to pay straight.

We had a good hearty meal which was reasonably priced (2 course lunch menu for £15). The servers were super welcoming, attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Food arrived cold because delivery driver took ages. The steamed vegetables used to have more of a variety of vegetables in was just carrot and broccoli while im here you used to do a spinach, broccoli and asparagus pasta that was amazing, you haven’t done in ages you need to start doing it again or just take it off the menu

My favourite restaurant! Since my first visit, fifteen years ago, I have had such wonderful experiences here..for birthdays, with friends, dates, and often on my own. As a woman I feel so welcome and comfortable dining alone.. the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. The food is by far the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy. The kitchen staff are very considerate of allergies .. mine is with eggs.. I have always felt fantastic after eating here. There are genuinely beautiful people working here .. This is a privately owned authentic Italian gem, and have an exceptional hidden outside courtyard, so you can enjoy a leisurely and delicious meal on Upper Street, without actually sitting on the street. Inside is as cosy and uniquely beautiful as you could hope from such an authentic restaurant.. stunning photos fill the walls with beautiful film stars and musicans from many decades. With genuinely exceptional food.. staff that have become like friends, and an atmosphere and ambience that makes you feel at home. I am writing this review after all these years, because La Davinas so deserves to be recognised. The new manageress Victoria is the epitome of warm and genuine hospitality, and has raised the bar even higher! If you are lucky enough to meet Ciara, she will treat you like a long lost friend.. all the staff are so lovely, thank you to all! This is my genuine review of my favorite restaurant. Book a table!

I’ve had pleasant meals here before. However, two weeks ago my wife noticed that the toilet was in a filthy state just before we ordered. Mistakenly, we gave them the benefit of the doubt at the time. I ordered a ribeye steak with veg and got food poisoning the next day, which was awful and debilitating. The unsanitary loo and my food poisoning are probably connected. Please sort this out!

Food and service was amazing! The one thing I wasn’t very impressed about was the fact that one of the girls has very long pointy fake nails, and very short shorts, as someone who works in hospitality, I find this very unprofessional. I understand that it is very hot at the moment, but the lack of clothing was very disappointing

The lunch menu for £14.95 is terrific value. On a warm day, I sat out front in the shade. My dog was brought a water bowl without the need to request. Service was lovely and friendly. I had the calamari and the American hot pizza. Everything was very well presented and tasty. The calamari could have been a tad more crisp. I recommend as a casual value option on Upper Street

Lovely culinary experience. Absolutely wonderful service from all the waiters, shoutout to Victoria who helped us choose our mains (she didn’t miss). The food was worth every penny and the limoncello shots were the cherry on top.

We had antipasti and primi. We were asked five times if we thought everything was allright. Every time we responded 'ok', since it was ok, but not above. Most resturants in Italy would probably not have served it though.

The staff were professional and friendly, but the food is not authentic Italian. The carbonara was served with double cream and bacon instead of guanciale and without pecorino. The arancini was actually supplì and it was bland. As I said, the food is average but definitely not Italian.

Great friendly staff really enjoyed the meal and experience. What would have made it a tiny bit better would have been a pannacotta with a fruit coulis or a fruity option rather than chocolate or caramel but beautiful place beautiful food beautiful staff will be back !

Unfortunately we did not have a very good experience with the food served at this restaurant. The potatoes were uncooked; the Pollo Milanese - the chicken was very chewy. We went here due to the good reviews, so either they were 'fake reviews' or that we were most unfortunate to dine on the evening that did not have 'great cooks' - food quality was poor, definitely not authentic Italian! :-(

Best restaurant in Islington for Italian food, I would recommend 100% to anyone. Food is perfect in taste and served very quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful especially Wiktoria the manager she is just amazing.

Had a wonderful meal here. Pizzas had a thin, crispy base, and pasta was fresh. When booking, we asked if they had gluten free and not only did they say yes, they had gluten free menus laid out on our table when we arrived. Staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Reasonably priced too. Strongly recommend and thank you for having us!

Pros: Excellent service, extremely quick and attentive. Sit outside around evening time for romantic atmosphere. Cons: Had the arrabiata and ravioli. The arrabiata lacked salt and relied on the tomato taste. 🍅 The ravioli was better, but it wasn't a whole lot better. Conclusion: There are better options along the street that serve better food, but if you want a quick and easy meal- this is the spot. The tiramisu was not to my taste, but those who like a strong caffeine flavour would like it (it is a little bit watery).

The food was excellent, with exceptionally quick service time. All staff were extremely polite and friendly. Really good value for money with the 3 course deal as well. Would highly recommend.

We ate there 27.5.24, the restaurent is cosy, and has a lovely atmosphere. I’m coeliac and therefore can’t have gluten. The staff were ahead of the game on this, I had a lovely meal with no problems afterwards. Can highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant

Went with a very large work party. Fantastic meal! Possibly the best pasta dish (gluten free) that I've ever had! All food came out quickly and hot, considering the size of the party! Well worth a visit! Staff were all very friendly, nothing to much trouble.

We were walking along Upper st looking for somewhere to eat and this caught our eye. We were really warmly welcomed and the most fabulous evening followed. There was a chilled vibe to the place, a lovely buzz of people enjoying themselves. The service was absolutely perfect. Really attentive but not too much, the staff were obviously happy at work and passionate about the food and giving great service. There ware many interesting choices on the menu. I had liver for starter followed by seabass. Both were cooked to perfection and tasted divine. The portions were also really generous. It is very rare that I go out to eat without finding an area that could have been improved, this was one of those fantastic evenings when I couldn't! Thanks so much to all at La Divina, we will definitely return.

We are from USA and eat out to nice dinners. Wonderful Italian food. The eggplant parmigiana was so delicious, perfectly cooked. My husband had the bolognese and he also stated his plate was great, he is very picky.

Greetings and good afternoon. La Divina is a friendly Italian-run restaurant with passable food. Nothing incredible, nothing terribly bad either. The lunch set menu is like being kissed in the mouth by Jerome: cheap but helpful. (Jerome, aka Jeronimò as the people of Puglia know him, aka Jeromus Magnus of Rome, is my best friend, closest acquaintance and erstwhile muse). He had the norma. It was normal. I had the bolognese. It was bolognesal. We also had the fried shrimp as a starter, meh. The caprese salad was Gucci iykyk. We will be back, La Divina, we promise. And now, I shall go to sleep. Sha!

Food is good but not extraordinary either. What really stood out was the pasta alla norma! Set lunch menu is liked being kissed on the lips by a very handsome monk: unexpected, but very nice.

Amazing experience. We were drawn in by the two course lunch time deal and the waitress was incredibly fast and friendly. The food was very fresh and tasted 5/5. Would recommend to all and decently priced.

The food is great, the staff is friendly and friendly, the decoration and the Vespa table at the entrance are very good, and the owner of the business, Mr. Enis, is a very caring gentleman. If you happen to be there, definitely stop by, you won't regret it.

What a lovely, intimate place to eat! Loved every minute here. Parts of it are quite quirky, in the nicest possible way - one table had Lambretta-style vehicle (I'm too old to know the correct name!) underneath it. There are lovely film posters from days gone by on the walls - such a relaxing ambience. The food was fabulous. The wine was very good. Service was efficient, prompt, friendly. We couldn't have chosen better. It also does really good deliveries as well. Absolutely would recommend eating here if you like Italian food - pizza was super.

Been to La Divina pre-theatre Almeida. I can tell this place is an authentic , family run place from the first moment I walked in. I had 2 course lunch menu for £14.95. My choices were “ bruschetta “ followed by “ pasta con polpette “ . Both were tasty and generous portions. Its hard to find these tastes at reasonable prices nowadays. Staff were friendly and warm. Place is nicely decorated. Music was mellow and relaxing. Thats what i needed from a nice lunch experience. Definitely coming back !

We just received our order. It was shockingly bad, probably thr worst delivery we ever had. Huge dissappointment and our evening is destroyed by it. We had a pizza, a pasta and oven bakes potaotes, they were all awful. They look like normal food and then you taste it and just can't eat anything. The pizza is the worst we ever had. It doean't taste like pizza at all. It is cold and totally dry, it tastes like dry bread. You can't taste the cheese or the tomato sauce because of how little is there. All you can taste is stale dry bread. The salmdon pasta is a shuge disaster as well. Unbelievably oily to the point that you can inly taste oil. I don'g undeestand where is the pink sauce that the advert says. It is tomato sauce and oil. The pasta itself is the most overcooked pasta I ever had, it tastes like mash potato, it must have stayed in the pot for 25 minutes, it's disgusting. The potatoes are not crispy and are tasteles and oily. We feel bad for the money we wasted. Warnung to everyone, the good reviews here must be fake and the "italian" restaurant a scam. Disgusting. We can't eat this rubbish and had to ordered from another place now.

Pasta was luke warm and very salty. Had asked for and paid for extra parmesam that didn't appear. Not à lot of love gone into the food . . . Very disappointed

We were served by 2 lovely servers, Chiara and a guy with a beard and glasses. It was fantastic service with constantly check-in on us. The drinks were great. The food was delicious and have come back quite a few times and this place never disappoints ☺️🥰

Visited there recently with a group friends for lunch. On the most part we all ordered the two course lunch, which is 15-17 pounds (depending on the time of the week). Personally, I ordered the mozzarella garlic bread as the starter and bolognese for the main. The food came out quite promptly, service was smooth. The garlic mozzarella pizza bread, was a tad greasy for my liking but was overall enjoyable. The dough wasn’t the best either, it did somewhat remind me of a pizza you’d get from Sainsbury finest selection - which isn’t bad! The bolognaise spaghetti was visually very appealing and was quite nice. However, the whole time I was eating it I felt like something was missing or lacking. All the portions were very substantial and generous. I would say the waiters did struggle around the topic of dietary restrictions, but tried their best to help. For a family run restaurant it was a nice experience nonetheless, worthy of 4 stars.

Such a lovely restaurant, never had a bad meal here, this is our go to place when we visit our daughter. We had a lovely night here with our daughter, son in law and his parents. The food is amazing ( love the new menu) and the staff are lovely: helpful and friendly.

The atmosphere is not great. A bit too loud and noisy. Tables come very close to each other. Waiters are busy running around. Was very disappointed with the menu upon sitting down: only see some starters and all sorts of choices of pizza, pasta, and some risotto. Then when the waiter comes, I come across a special menu, which is really amazing. The main (fish with tomato) was stunning. Please do ask for the special menu to avoid disappointment. If I did not see the special menu, I would really want to leave.
