La Cucina in Fife

This was a very disappointing family dinner. Our waitress tried her best but several items were mis ordered and food was very average. I ordered risotto and it was swimming in sauce, couldn’t even see the rice, husband ordered prawn linguini that was overpowered with chilli’s which is not usually a problem with him so must have been bad. Overall very poor service and quality of food for the price paid which put a dampener on the evening sadly.

Always a great meal at La Cucina. We have been on several occasions while staying in the hotel and the food never disappoints. We booked in advance and were seated immediately when we arrived. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Our 7 year old loved his food too. Nice place to relax and soak up the atmosphere. We plan to be back very soon.

Very cute spot with great food. There was a good variety on the menu and everything we ordered was delicious! Great pick for some pizza and pasta!

We have been to this restaurant before and it has gone down hill i expected a lovely dinner with my wife the food was avervge at best and not worth the money they are asking service was slow and one of the waitress brought the wrong food to our table and the biggest thing that annoyed me was the sreaming kids running around the tables not the place for a supposedly high end restaurant all in all we got is a hefty bill and a headache from the kids We will not be coming back

Overpriced, very poor choice of menu and extremely below average food . Spaghetti bolognaise was absolutely tasteless as was the tiramisu. Very small portions and very expensive! Carbonara and seafood pasta have been removed from the menu which were the the reason for our visit again as they were excellent dishes . The choice was very limited and very poor especially for an upmarket hotel. The restaurant manager seemed stressed and spent the entire meal instructing staff what to do which was very stressful to watch when trying to relax over dinner. The ambience is depressing and the the hotel as a whole seems to have gone downhill. Extremely disappointed and being local we expected a much higher standard. Not what I would expect from an upmarket hotel in St Andrews . Won’t be back !

Dinner at La Cucina within The Fairmont Hotel was excellent. We were able to have a table on the small outside balcony. The service from all staff was friendly and efficient. Probably the best steak and sea bass we have had. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for the quality of the dishes.

Went for a friends birthday this evening and couldn’t have had a better experience. The food was lovely and our every need was catered for, with a great atmosphere and really helpful staff, particularly Veronika, Frances and Gillian Would definitely go again, was a fab service and fab night all round

Average overpriced food. Abysmal service by nice but clearly completely untrained kids. Busy on a Saturday with captive audience, so probably not point in trying to do any better.

Service was slow, order taken wrong, I was served sea bass instead of rabbit which the rabbit wasn’t great either, sea bass was dry and bedded with squash!. My friends prawn in salad was soaked in oil! So overpriced for what you get. Over £330!! Won’t return!

Soulless restaurant, food was very poor and the menu what not that exciting. Generally over priced and portion for the main courses were very small. Ordered a vegetarian dish as from the mains menu and it consisted of half of a small aubergine. Beef lasagne also had very little beef and was served of side dish, with no salad or accompanying serving. Space itself is lifeless and there was no music or atmosphere. Meals are totally overpriced.

Zeer lekkere sirloin steak en lasagna, de eerste avond was de service chaotisch, verkeerde bestellingen, lange wachttijden, 20 min. voor een glas wijn etc. een vijfsterren hotel onwaardig. Na een kort gesprek met de zaalverantwoordelijke Dylan BYRN werd alles snel rechtgetrokken en werden we gecompenseerd in free drink en kamerservice, daarin bijgestaan door Veronika. De volgende avond kwamen we terug en alles was OK. Proficiat Dylan !

My wife had the pasta which she said was incredible and i had the pizza which was delicious. More than anything, the service was fantastic. On night one, Tash took great care of us. On night two, Dylan and Bartley saved us after a terrible experience at St. Andrews Bar & Grill.

Wonderful restaurant the staff was amazing and our meal at La Cucina was one of the best for our entire trip. 5 star service for the staff!

Lovely meal at La Cucina. Great atmosphere and nice decor. Food was lovely and the service provided by our waitress, Faye, was excellent. She went over and above to make our visit memorable including some Prosecco for my 40th. Will return.

For such a lovely hotel we were very disappointed with the quality of the food in this restaurant. It was just very bland and a bit amateur. Pesto was bitter, garlic prawns were fairly dry, pasta was tasteless and think they forgot the anchovies in the cod dish. Service was fine, but unfortunately the food wasn’t comparable to Italian food or even nice restaurant standard food.

After a dreadful meal at Fairmont’s Kittock’s Den we approached La Cucina with some trepidation. But despite a limited Italian-style menu we had a very nice meal, helped by some really good serving staff and an accommodating kitchen. Food is good, tasty and what we’d wanted. We thought it wasn’t too pricey and for a warming meal in the depths of winter pretty much hit the spot, even if the colour scheme sucks the life out of the place and the tables and chairs are pretty basic. So yes, pretty good - and very much better than it’s in-house hotel sister restaurant.

Probably the worst Lasagne I have ever tasted, it was bland, tasteless and the pasta was not good quality. The white sauce (béchamel) was not at all cheesy, it was very floury ( not cooked) it did have cheese on top, little to no meat for the sauce, mainly tomato and totally tasteless. My husband had rigatoni bolognese, which was dry, little meat and tasteless. My friend had penne in pesto, which was just pasta floating in oil, it looked very unappetising, one of our meals was fine. We had to ask for parmesan and when it came the girl serving us did not seem to be able to realise that there was nothing coming from the grater we had to point it out to her and she had to go and get more cheese! The best bit of the meal was the Antipasto plate we shared, which required NO chef skills. I am so unimpressed, this is supposed to be a quality restaurant in a 5 star hotel. I would not recommend eating here. I have an Italian background and there is nothing about this tasteless food which is Italian. Last week we had dinner in a high street Italian restaurant which would put this restaurant to shame. Fairmont you can do better.

We were exhausted from a drive in from Orkney on the night we arrived at the Fairmont and decided to try La Cucina since it was right in the hotel. We had an excellent meal with friendly service. Frankly, we could have made our entire meal on the antipasti selections that the waiter helped us to choose. The cheeses, meats and breads were some of the best that we have ever had in our travels. Contrary to Charlesrogers90, my lasagna dish was delicious, more than I could finish and served in a crock. My husband's linguine ai frutti dimare was excellent as well. I will note that we had to wait a rather long time for our entrees to be delivered however, this was fine as we were totally full from the antipasti.

Personal amable, pero supuestamente comida italiana muy pobre, pizza vegetariana poco cocinada y empapada en todo momento, plato de bacalao asado con piel flácida no tostada y rodeada de algunos artículos aleatorios: dos tomates secos, seis aceitunas, algunos frijoles y un pequeño trozo de pollo con nada para juntar el plato como uno solo. Servicio muy lento. No es lo que esperas de la cocina de un hotel de cinco estrellas, excepto quizás los precios.

Celebrando mi 40 th. El personal es excepcional y no pudo hacer más por nosotros. Los entrantes eran encantadores y la pizza era abundante y muy sabrosa (lo recomiendo encarecidamente). Sin embargo, la lasaña estaba muy quemada en el fondo, en los lados y seca por dentro. Realmente debería haber sido perfeccionado por ahora.

Fui ayer y el restaurante es agradable y es muy tranquilo y acogedor, pero la comida que me sorprendió con mi lasaña sabía bien, sí, pero estaba en una bandeja de aluminio, no era un cuenco encantador y era muy pequeño y se veía y sabía a comida de microondas. estaba quemado alrededor de los bordes, me gusta eso, pero parecía y sabía que simplemente lo calentaron en el microondas. no incluye raciones y también mi amiga, ella tenía un plato de pollo 24 por dos pedazos de pollo y luego 4 extra por papas. comer en la calle andrews o jamones hame no comer o beber en el Fairmont, supongo que es donde recaudan su dinero, hotel agradable.

Very disappointing - would not recommend. I ordered lasagne and got a tiny tray which was ok ish with no sides at all . For £15 .

The antipasti was good but the mains were bland. Hotel restaurants are usually uninspiring and overpriced but this was disappointing even going in with low expectations.

The meal had a good quality, fresh vegetables were used, which is quite important. The staff was helpful, our special requirement was fulfilled. The wein was excellent. I would recommend the restaurant to visit.

The restaurant was crowded, so it was good that we booked in advance. We were 6 so we got to order several dishes which we shared. Their bread was alsolutely delicious.

We visit St. Andrews a lot and regularly stay in the town however this time decided to stay at the Fairmont to use the spa. We decided to spend our stay in the hotel and had food at La Cucina which on reflection was probably a mistake! The food was okay and the service was good however there was no atmosphere. It reminded us of a glorified pizza express and definitely not the type of restaurant you expect to find in a 5 star hotel. Definitely not worth ‘dressing up’ for and I would have probably felt more comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt.

We were a group of 14 for dinner, which can daunt a restaurant, but not this one. The Fairmont accommodates so many golfers that it is more the norm than the exception for larger groups to visit.

We have visited here before for a family meal. We were well accommodated with various requirements and dislikes etc. However on this occasion whilst staying at the hotel we experienced a different situation. Waiting staff were excellent. We both ordered pasta bolognese which was lovely but spoiled by being garnished with WATERCRESS!!!! We ordered foccahia which is a staple for us when we dine Italian. What arrived at the table was 4 2 inch thick slices of white bread with no garlic or rosemary. Very odd indeed. When we querued this we were 'advised' the young person on duty in the kitchen was Italian so he must know!! We take issue with this as 60/70 year olds who are seasoned Italian restaurant customers this was frankly an insult. Regarding the watercress ( we were told it was parsley!!) Again an insult! (Chef - check out Little Italy in town! )

visited La Cucina with my family, the antipasti and appetizer was just amazing, pork belly deliciously cooked to perfection, mackerel on pesto just topped it, bruschetta with salmon was so well balanced and the shrimps in lovely dressing made our evening. The main just followed on with well balanced flavors exceptional cooked to perfection. Our Service was so friendly, attentive and professional which lifted the whole experience up to another level.Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you very much La Cucina Team, well done!!!

Great hotel, bad restaurant. The service was so good, we didnt have the heart to complain about the food but it wasnt good at all. Childrens meal was barely edible, the fish dish was full of bones and the pizza was burnt. Bread was stale in the bread basket and overall it was pretty expensive for the awful quality of food. Steer clear.

Después de tomar una orden de bebidas, esperarás fácilmente 15 minutos para que llegue, comida por la que esperarás 1 hora (¡lo cual es demasiado caro para la calidad de la comida que recibes!). . . . . cuando finalmente llegue, prepárate para que esté frío y si informas de esto, ¡espera que te esté esperando un gerente muy defensivo! ¡El personal de servicio parece no tener experiencia en absoluto, el único que salva la gracia es la cara sonriente de Clair!

Durante una fabulosa estancia en el hotel Fairmont, elegimos La Cucina para la cena. Recibido por una agradable dama en la puerta y llevado a nuestra mesa. Ofrecimos bebidas de inmediato, pero luego esperamos otros 30 minutos para que nos llevaran el pedido de comida. Los camareros eran agradables, pero todo parecía desordenado. ¿Las mesas que llegaron 20 minutos después de que nos sirvieran primero? Los dos empezamos con la ensalada caprese. Esta fue una pila de trozos de tomate intercalados con algunos pequeños trozos de mozzarella. Podría haber producido mejor en casa. El primer plato principal fue la pasta con tomate y berenjena. Muy seco y no muy inspirador. La berenjena parmesana tenía queso sabroso y berenjena, pero al igual que en el plato de pasta no había ajo, hierbas u otros condimentos para darle un verdadero sabor italiano. Las papas asadas se cortaron a la mitad con papas nuevas con una pizca de hierbas secas que nunca habían visitado un horno. Debería haber sabido mejor que pedir el tiramisú: tenía mucho mejor en un supermercado. En general, un final decepcionante para un hermoso día.

The Hotel is Super, but Sadly not impressed with Fairmonts' in house resteraunt. It's too brightly lit for Italian themed dining, and the music was too loud....unless you're lucky enough to get a table for two on the balcony. We were a table of four plonked in the middle of the resteraunt on a small table that struggled to accommodate four adults with all the food and drink. The Antipasti buffet table was superb..but what amused was the fact that it was under supervision. One wasn't allowed to help oneself....just incase you piled more than 9 items on your plate!!

Staying in the hotel for the weekend and decided to eat in La Cucina on our do first night. Staff were friendly and professional and the food was good but not the best Italian good I've had. Slightly lacking in atmosphere and also slightly on the cold side at the beginning of the evening. The open plan design and alongside the large atrium may have contributed to this.

The service was second to none and the food even better! The crab starter was excellent and my pizza may have been the best pizza I have ever had! The overall ambience of the restaurant was very relaxed, staff were very friendly and it was good value. Will definitely be back!

Late at night, you only have La Cucina to dine in, but the food is excellent and servings generous. I had carbonara pasta, which was rich and very good.

Ate there twice during our long weekend break. Good food, great service. But a wee bit noisy so conversation was difficult.

El restaurante dentro de la calle Fairmont Andrews ofrece una buena selección de platos de calidad junto con un excelente servicio, este restaurante tiene mucho para recomendarlo. Hemos cenado aquí en varias ocasiones y nunca me ha decepcionado. Siempre hay algo en el menú para adaptarse.

Visited La Cuchina restaurant yesterday, going in on spec, early at 1800hrs following a day of shopping.

We were greeted warmly and shown the antipasta table as we went to our tables. They had a nice wine list but had to run downstairs to show us the cocktail menu, so they should keep those there on hand.

La Cucina es un restaurante mediocre en el mejor de los casos en un hotel encantador.

Cuando viaja con sus padres de más de 80 años, es útil contar con un lugar agradable después de un día de turismo. La Cucina era muy buena (¡aunque estaban fuera de Chianti la noche que visitamos!). Excelente pizza y pasta. Todos salieron llenos y felices. Y mis padres regresaron una segunda noche.

La Cucina is in the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews. It's an easy option if you're staying at the hotel but not worth a trip out of town for.

Reasonable food if a little pricey for what it was but being in the fairmont you expect the price to be a bit more. I wouldnt queue up for another go...tony macaroni and a few others I've eaten in are as good ( maybe better) for much better vakue

Simple food, delivered stunningly well. Staff friendly, wine list fab. Would definitely score La Cucina 10/10. 5 star quality in relaxed surroundings.

We went here on 1st night rather than go to golf clubhouse . The menu was of decent variety . The food was good and well presented . Service was good . If your a fan of Italian style food then this will be for you . It is on the expensive side . Tho busy the staff seemed to cope very well . I would say that the room got very hot tho

My mother, brother and I delighted in an early dinner here during our stay at the Fairmont St Andrews. Our hostess for the evening was Jessica, who was lovely and seated us promptly.

Do not get me wrong the service we received was very good and the food more than adequate but for the price I would have expected much better. The service from when first entered and throughout the meal was attentive, helpful and friendly. The food was well cooked and presented and the portions generous and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant but it was not an intimate atmosphere. My biggest issue was the price, I have eaten much better Italian meals for far less, this was almost fine dining cost for slightly above average food.
